Help...I have successfully made the performance tweeks to my stock Fuze but suddenly, literally overnight with no software changes or tweeks have this issue:
When I choose the icon for "Favorite Contacts" from the TF taskbar, the TF3D interface restarts. At first it ask if I wanted to send an error report about Manila; now it just restarts TF. It was working fine and I only noticed it because a picture had disappeared from a contact there and after I readded the pic I went to Favorites to check to see if restored. I literally made no changes, tweeks, software adds since last working. The only thing I did was sync my contacts & calendars to my Mac. Any chance on permissions or such changed in Contacts database since I assume that is what favorites draws from? What is the executable that runs for the Favorite Contact app?

hey has anyone have issue with bringing in pictures into the contacts. it shows that i am connected but i cant see any of the picture in my contacts. i also can see any updates. any ideas?
I tried this today on a VZ version.
Same problem as you, first page of my FB contacts will load the pics, but nothing under that (page where you associate them).
Also, if you remove their FB link here, I think it removes them as a friend.
It was hit or miss for me on the Sprint version. Probably 75% of my fb contacts imported pictures while the rest whom I know have pictures, failed to load and save.
Also, I did remove a couple associations and it didn't removed them as a friend on fb.
If anyone knows why, let us know!
it doesn't remove them as a friend, it just doesn't let you associate the same person the next time you try. It may even be that you just have to back out of the edit contacts and then return to editing the contact again. I don't remember how picky it was. baffled me at first too.

Just noticed a bit ago, logged in on the pc, and that contact is still a friend. I'll have to check to see if I can try to associate later.
Linking a profile will temporarily remove the person from your list of available friends to link with. If you wait a minute or two after removing their link, they will reappear in the list.
I also have had issues with some friends' photos not importing. My only theory was that I was linking the friend too quickly .. if I waited for the small thumbnail image to load next to their name before linking, it seemed to work every time. I didn't test this extensively, though.
Also, some for some friends I was able to get a photo to load by using the "Update Photo" button. Oddly, for a couple of contacts that still didn't work.
There are definietly a few bugs in this functionality.
When I had major problems with my facebook manila, I broke my activesync partnership (thus deleting all my contacts) recreated and relinked my facebook friends. Everything good after that. Backup your PIM if you're not on Exchange.
I had problems with Facebook to in the beginning. Conatcts pictures wouldn't show up. I found with a few people there pictrue showed up next time they logged on. A few didn't show up though but as soon as I went to edit and add photo and birthday I saw there pic and they were added. I see there status now in my contacts list or I can go to updates and events and click on there name to go to there profile to read there full status. I like it and have the Sprint version. My 1st smartphone/windows mobile phone and I really like it.
facebook pic in contacts
you must soft reset your phone "power button at the top" you know power it off then back on , but any way this will add the pic to the contacts

Hi,
is there a facebook fix that makes facebook really working on manila 2.6?
Basically on the ROM I'm using currently, it seems that contacts updates are partly working, and online album is not working.
I've seen the fix from Dutty, making online Album work, but contacts not working.
Anyone has a fix that supports facebook as intended?
Gescha
Contacts means what? Contacts updates are working on my rom, incl. photos from FB, but online albums not.
I'm running official rom.
Online albums are not running even after official fix from HTC.
Hi interresting that evewn the official ROM does not support the album.
When I'm talking on contacts, I'm refering to a fix Dutty provided for one of his ROMS (I think it was HolyGrail R6).
With this fix album worked, but the contacts didn't any more (So no user picture and status updates any more)
(With this fix dutty replaced the facebookSDK.dll)
GeScha,
There is a thread about Facebook tab for 2.5.
I installed it, but it didn't work for me as I have too many manila tweaks (CHT) so it didn't work, but from a fresh flash it is supposedly working.
Hi Bruce,
this creates the facebook tab. I use it as well, and it works fine on LueMeiYins Yin7. I also use Cookies 1.7.1
The facebooktab lists basically all status messages that are in the contacts. AS it uses basically the manila features from contacts, it does not improve the general troubles with facebook (but it also does not cause any unknown or new ones.)
So still online album is not working. But seems that it is not working as well on the stock rom and therefore I have less hope that there is a fix for this.

Hi,
you'r right, it's not working on stock rom as well (on HD2, the situation is the same).
HTC make a fix for it (available on www.htc.com), but unfortunately this fix doesn't fix it (.
It works on mine. But now I find it annoying to have all email contacts mixed up together with my phone contacts in my contact list. The emails contacts was updated by Facebook tab. I'm going thru a tedious work deleting email contacts. Anyone have ideas to sort this out or seperating email contacts and phone contacts?
the album download will take ages if it contain large number of pictures e.g more than 10.
Try this, I have it installed and it seems to work well...

This one (T-Back) fixed the Facebook Albums issue (no thumbnails, and timer icon instead of actual pictures) for me. A separate fix is required for the 'Events and Updates' tab in contacts. I used one called Facebook-Ather.cab from these forums somewhere
Hello,
I've tried searching for similar topics closely related to my problem with no success.
Basically what is occurring is when I mark a contact as a Favorite (either by the star on the contact page, or holding down and selecting 'Add to Favorites' from the contact window.) it's not saving it. The moment I press 'back' and view the contact again the favorite star is grey again and it didn't save. I've tried several different ways to try to get it to work and it just won't stick. I've even used that popup menu item for contacts called, 'Add to Favorites'. The funny part is that this works perfectly fine on my sisters android.
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Prevail with stock Froyo 2.2. I'm also using this contacts on the default Google Gmail Contacts list. I haven't really done anything special to the phone other then install a few apps here and there. All of a sudden my favorites are just not saving anywhere.
Here is the weirdest part, I installed 'Go Contacts' app on the market and used their built in Favorites. I added a favorite there and it worked! When I checked the contact on the regular contacts app with Froyo the Star is gold and its saved. Now that's extremely odd. The Go Contacts app did what the regular stock Contacts couldn't.
That's basically it. I don't know what else to do as I've tried all sorts of things. I'm hoping it's something really simple that can be fixed.
Any help would be great
Update: Well I've tried some restoration options and file edits and it still doesn't seem to work. I'm beginning to wonder if it's the stock contact app itself that is not working properly.
I've had the same issue intermittently for no apparent reason, on more than one ROM. Can't figure it out. Running Gummycharged on my Droid Charge.
Hey folks,
I just finished saving my current phone contacts to Google instead of to my phone. I then deleted all the "Phone" versions of my contacts. Now all my contact icons have defaulted back to the basic picture when I open my Contacts app and begin scrolling. The only way I can see the individual icons is if I go all the way to the edit contact screen, or by logging into my Google account on a PC.
Do I need to re save all my contacts to my phone's local memory to get them to re show up again when I start scrolling? Or delete them all and restore them?
Thanks for any help.
ETA: I'm running dman's awesome streamlined Gingerbread ROM, and Entropy's lastest test kernel.
Figured I'd add this for futurer searchers...
I just had to force resync and all my contacts with pictures were restored.
I upgraded from a HTC Imagio running Windows Mobile 6.5 to the Samsung Galaxy S3 and it is my first foray into the Android world, so I hope you can help with the following. As you can see, it was a big step up the ladder of mobile operating systems!
1. If I have a name prefix for my contact in the contact list, like Mr./Ms./Mrs./Dr., the name does not autocomplete for that contact from the phone keypad. When I enter the letters of the first or last name on the phone keypad, the contact does not show up. However, if I delete the name prefix and leave it blank, it shows up fine. Is there some setting to have all the contacts show up or is it a bug? Is it happening for others too?
2. On the Windows phone, I had a reminder application which showed a list of all reminders. I could set the reminder to repeat after any number of days/weeks/years. However, in the Android Calendar, when I set an event, I am unable to set the number of days/weeks/months/years it has to repeat. For example, I need an event to repeat every 365 days (calendar with no leap day) but I cannot set it on my phone or in GMail. Also, when the alarm goes off, I would like to be reminded again after a day or a few hours or a few minutes until I dismiss the notification so I can have the remidner go off a few days before the event as a reminder. I don't know if that is possible too. I looked at a couple of apps from the Play Store but could not find one which does everything. Anyone know of a trick to get this to work?
Update: DGT GTD & To-Do List with its recent updates now does what I need. Thanks to the author for adding the features.
3. When I check my gmail in the web browser, I am unable to delete the mails. I touch the trash icon but it stays highlighted but does not delete the mail. Is that a bug or am I again doing something wrong? I have different gmail accounts that I would like to check on the phone without transferring contacts and calendar entries.
Update: Looks like a bug in the stock web browser. GMail works as expected in Chrome browser
4. Is there a clear writeup of how the calendar and contacts sync between gmail and the phone? I had transferred all my contacts from my Windows mobile phone to gmail and they showed up on my S3 when I set up the gmail account. However, they would not transfer to my phone. I had to export the contacts to a file on my phone and then import the contacts into my phone. Maybe I do not need the contacts to reside on the phone? I was worried that if I was in an area with poor or no signal reception, then I may not be able to view the contacts if they were only on my gmail account and not on the phone.
4a. Similarly, I would like to know how the calendar entries from gmail can be pulled on to the phone.
Thanks in advance for your help and patience in reading the above! I have a lot to learn but hope I can get my phone to work the way I would enjoy. If you can suggest any resource for reading other than XDA and Android Central, that would be great too.
Oops. This should have been posted in the Q&A Forum. Mods, can you please move it if that is where it belongs? Thanks!
