[REQ] Spotify for mobile - General Questions and Answers

I'm wondering if any developer can look into making Spotify work on winmobile.
Spotify
I have it on my PC and I think its a great app. I think the spotify developers are thinking of making a mobile app in the future but I really wants it now.
So any developer can look in to it, I'm more than willing to donate for the developer!

I second that.

Nobody want to take on the project or is it simply impossible?

Nobody is intrested in looking in to this? would be great!
I have an invite to the developer =)

It would be awesome if it worked!!!!

I was only thinking today that it would be really great if Spotify was available for WinMo, and here's a thread all about it.
I'll add my voice to the rest. Spotify + WinMo = match made in heaven.

Since the code is here already, someone just need to port it to Win Mo, and make a nice GUI.

Hipstamatic for the HD2...

Hi All!
Is there something similar to the iPhone app called Hipstamatic that runs on the HD2?
I think it looks like a great app for creative photography.
It shouldn't be too hard to create for the camera in the HD2.
More info on the Hipstamatic app here:
http://hipstamaticapp.com/
Thanx!
/R
Will be great if it's in WinMo as it kinda easy to do editing with that kind of app.
Bump.
Come on, we needz this!
I'd also like this, anybody know if anything like this is out for hd2?
As a photographer, I kind of want to say 'what the hell is the point?'
But the more i think about it, It could be some fun
Bumpeti-bump!
Come on, there has to be som kind of cool photo-filtering apps to Win Mobile...or?
+1 for this. guess there'd be no reason it couldn't be on HD1 either?
I'd love something like this on our phones.there must be something like this out there......
I have searched without finding any...YET!
But people here att XDA usually know where to look. Any suggestions?
Also thinking a bit about creating one myself. Why not a "Winstamatic"?
The only problem, I'm not a programmer.
Perhaps we could create a team and do it together?
I'm a amateur photograper and I also could help create GUI graphics.
Or, we all send a lot of mails to the Hipstamatic-guys asking them to port their app to WinMo. I've already mailed them, but with no reply.
Have a nice day!
/R
Hi, it's me again!
I created a Facebook group to put some peer preasure in the Hipstamatic developers to create a version for Windows Mobile (and Android as well).
Please join the group and invite all your friends so we can make this happen!
The address to the group is:

Have a great weekend!

i'd really like something like hipstamatic on my hd2. wonder if anyone can reverse engineer the iphone app and make some winmo code to do the same thing....
If we get enoguh members in the Facebook group we won't have to reverse engineer. The Hipstamatic developers will, so to speak, do it for us.
Here's the link again:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=111342155572362
Hope you don't mind me pluging it.
It's a really cool app, and I can't understand why it isn't available for all types of mobile phones. I mean, it would sell like crazy!
+1 ....
me too
I'd buy it too.

A letter from develop team of Rockplayer

A letter from develop team of Rockplayer
---------------------------------------------------
Hi, those who r using the Rockplayer close beta ver.
i'm the one of the develop team, organized the failed close beta test. i'm sure you do not know my name, because the player still remain close beta, also havn't got a logo, about, notes...
first of all, please believe that i hope the player can release much more than you, for more user, more pleasure experience. from the developer, nothing can be more exciting than, that see the codes we wrote can be run ag and ag on you phones.
Rockplayer is different from some applications. it can support almost all media format we often have. we plan let it run on all android phones when released. feel exciting? So we should do lots of test for types of m-phone, os and media format, before it can be release.
i understand that anyone what to try this player. Since Rockplayer could work one my phone, my daughter can watch the anime by it and didn't rob my pc any more but the player still have compatibility problem, it can support only m-phone with armv7 cpu, and some media runs slowly. for that reason, we do not publish it. close beta can help us collect more accurate information. and we can analyze the problems more effective.
I believe the one who use Rockplayer have the same feeling as us,hope the player can be better and better, but not cancel under release. in fact, I really love this application, given all my effort and passion to it.So, it is my fault, organized the failed small area test. only 2 days the player post all over the internet. but thanks to all friends follow our application.
if you have questions or suggestions, ask we here:
groups(dot)google(dot)com(dot)hk/group/rockplayer
we will reply as we can.
after all, thank you all the same.

well, while using they are testing it )) why refuse their help?
It sounds to me as they're mad that the player got leaked on the internet?
Did they not expect this? There is NO possible way to stop something being leaked on the internet other than not creating it.
more and more developers realise that closed betas are not possible.. they must be new to the internet...
Hi kuangken,
Thank you for the update and whilst i appreciate your current position i can't wait for you to release a full version of this truly great player that enables me to play all my Video files on my Streak with no need to convert anything.
I tried going to the link you gave but found it's all in chinese and couldn't see a way to change it to English. If you give us another way to give you feedback I'm sure many users would be happy to help and thank you for your hard work.

For android always java is best(according to the arcticles i read) so obviously JAVA
I know an app I would pay for is one that could control the video functions of a PS3 with my phone. I would think it is possible since the the PS3 remote uses bluetooth, but I'm not a developer so it might not be possible.
I don't know if you've done this already but google provides all the sdk material on their android developers site. They also give instructions on how to get started using the sdk. Pretty much everything seems to be built on java. Have fun!
Google provides almost all the tutorials and instructions you could ever need to begin developing.

yea you should start at http://developer.android.com/index.html if you know java you should be good to go after reading and doing the tutorials
Thanks
I already read those things. Anyway thanks for your support and encouragment. and im now done with
->installed eclipse
->installed android sdk
->connected both eclipse and android sdk
-> now reading a book on how to develop android apps(in chapter 3 now)
All i need
-> some good friends(those who like to develop android apps, its okay if you are noobs)
->One experienced developer to guide me [this is optional ;-)]

HAHA...pretty much me too. Been debating about getting started for just over a year now. (Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Flash, Actionscript3, HTML, javascript, ~coldfusion, ~php, learning C#, can read VB, etc.)
Coming at this from a designing for training view. Been 15 yrs in technical training and looking to learn more. I got a few project ideas already and two things I really want...(which is what I am using for motivation)
As for the google tutorials...hello worlds really don't get you very far and I have looked out on web for other tuts. They all seem to have issues though...
Would appreciate feedback on the following....
-- This site/tut seems to 'assume' a whole lot and the program doesn't even work:
=== http://androidcore.com/android-programming-tutorials/182-fancy-listviews-part-one.html
(this one seems to not be showing any errors in SDK [it was first time, but not after restart] but it force closes in my emulator every time)
--This site/tut looked a bit more promising but is also has stuff that doesn't seem to work:
=== http://androidwizard.net/2010/05/create-a-context-menu-on-top-of-a-listview/
(no such thing as a OnPopulateContextMenuListener according to SDK and google site, switch(aItem.getId()) is not a supported method according to SDK, .getItem(menuInfo.position) cannot be resolved...all things a newb is at a loss to fix)
So...I am actually looking either for better tuts that get more in depth than hello world or someone from those sites that I can correspond with (as a trainer my OCD is really bothered by missing info in what look like the right kind of tut.)
Anyway...jenod...if you get some newbs together to work on stuff...I'd be interested.
Thanks for your feedback.. wil surely PM u if i get some(i mean developers)..
(why) does Android
Know what would be totally awesome? If someone like (why the lucky stiff) wrote something poigniant, beautiful and easy-to-follow to lead someone into Android app development! Something that reads almost like his Poigniant Guide to Ruby or like Chris Pine's Learn to Program.
Ya I have just started in android development. I have had many years of experience in all sorts of languages java, perl, python, c++, c#, and c. I also have a start on one project that would be great to have a group of people to work together with. I am very interested with this. Hope this works out, shoot me a PM if you want.
Hey guys!
awesome idea, i study informatics in second year now and iam just done with my JAVA lessons. Maybe i could help u, cuz i want to learn programming apps for andoid in my holiday too.
I also have an Idea for an app.

Hey idk if you all have seen this yet, but it is worth checking out. Google has a free software developing tool in beta at the site http:// appinventor .googlelabs .com
The beta requires an invite much like google voice but it looks to have some potential.

It will not be as powerful as straight coding. It is meant to allow people to make little apps for themselves. One review I read even indicated that inventor apps will not be allowed in market.
(This is all early speculation, but hey it is what I read today as I went ahead and submitted my info for an invite...LOL)
Coming from Macromedia/Adobe...this would be kind of like Captivate is to Flash is to Actionscript. This would be Captivate...simple but simple.
Hey this sounds like a great idea, hope everything works out. We need take over apples app market!

[DEV] New Windows Phone 7 UI on Desire

I would like to start an project to port the Windows Phone 7 UI to Android(Including Launcher and some basic utilities like mail/dialer/contacts/music/etc.), not just a theme using LauncherPro or ADW Launcher. Everybody can contribute to this in any way possible. So let the work begin and hope to see your contributions to this one as soon as possible.I will keep updating this thread every day in order to keep things in order. Good Luck!
What do I need?

2) Designers
3) Beta testers: atomfix, JKshowman, Sellitus, MStott, nickiberli
I have an app inventor account. Don't know how usefull that could be.Any ideas on this?
P.S. Remember all who choose to contribute to this project please P.M me or post what are you willing to do in order to assign task based on your current skills.

Whilst I agree the Windows Phone 7 UI is intriguing, I don't see how this is possible since WP7 is written in Sliverlight and Android is on Java. It would be a code rewrite rather than a port, but we don't have the source code anyway.
Just my opinion but a home replacement app, themes, and modifying the Android framework so that it behaves more like WP7 is probably the better way to go.
Porting the whole OS might be viable if there is a way to boot it using our own HBOOT bootloader, since it is now possible to alter the partition table on the nand.
Are you thinking of creating something like the zune home app?
*edit* reread op, and can only say, cool idea
Btw I can be a beta tester
Would definitely be up for trying a port here.

few days ago I was thinking...
shouldn't we prot windows to Desire?! HD2 has android OS too.
than I thought, why to "downgrade"?!
Okay, it's just a joke.
Would be nice to have a similar UI.
This project is nt only illegal but near impossible, drake do you even know a thing about wp7 for starters during initial setup you have to enter a serial key like with windows, you can only get one with a windows phone! Instant fail, pulsar please delete this thread is just gunna end up with millions of pointless comments

Will the UI blue dead screen?
I would be happy with a windows phone 7 style launcher where changing icons etc is easy. Tried the launcher pro theme and it was nice and all but would prefer something more complete.
Eph.
I think is a waste of time porting the UI (i dont even believe its possible), on this path the best option is a custom theme on a launcher or a whole new launcher.
however porting a full rom based on WM7 is a g00d idea, as it will give us another option beside running android (as good idea as it is to port iOS).
regarding the legal stuff, seems that there is always someone whining about that, let say this will be an option for those owning a dead WM7 device of buying a cheap one on ebay and then running the software in the desire.
i don't get all these people saying "ITS NOT POSSIBLE OMGZ"
all he wants to do is create a launcher with the Tile-style windows 7 UI
THAT IS COMPLETELY, UTTERLY, FULLY, POSSIBLE UNDER ANDROID and the current SDK.
so i say, go go, the more options the better... that IS the point of android.

well, that is clearly possible but what I understand from his post is that he wants to *port* the launcher+apps not just make a similar one.
but of course making a launcher is totally possible, although i would follow the path of customizing an existing one.
and just for the record, i agree with you, the more options the better.
YEA!
I think it's an awesome idea. NOT the porting but actually a new launcher. That behaves the same as wp7. Like many others stated it must be near impossible to port the actual thing.
I'm pretty good on the design part 2D graphics and animation. I use photoshop and after effects so if you need animations or any other graphics related item I'm your guy! BTW I do this for a living so I'm good at it.
Best of luck to you!

Well, u better read the op carefly before u start *****ing. NO ONE is talking about porting the WP7 OS, he is just plaining to create a thing that similar to LaunchPro.
Guys, wtf? Such negative attitudes. If you like having zero cutomisation options then go buy an iDevice or a WP 7 device. Critique the OP after he releases an alpha or something.
Also, I agree with Sabrwolf:

[Q] Ringtone from Phone Zune Music Library?

Hi Devs,
This one is for you:
After having had some time with Mango on my HD2 to test and discuss with my wife, we decided to buy her a Mozart and upgrade it to Mango.
Only after doing so, we discovered, that music cannot be set as Ringtone. Please, do not tell me tales of all the little helpers used to create ringtones and sync them via zune etc.
I also have already found a nice App (easyRing) on the market, which lets one grab plenty of tones from the amazon mp3-preview store and set them as ringtones. nice idea actually.
But we are looking for an App, that offers the following 2 basic features:
- Pick a song from the Library on the phone, clip down to 39 or less seconds.
- Save as Ringtone/Set as Ringtone (actually this is two features, the first being a native mango command for Apps).
Anyone interested in developing this?
That'd be THE KILLER.
Actually i totally underestimated this feature. I never ever thought that this could actually be a buy/not decisive. My wife wants to get rid of the phone fast no matter what. the only way making her keep this is to have this feature available. She actually likes the OS. Weird, isn't it?
So, what's keeping you? Off you go kids!
The phones music library isn't accessible by third party apps so it's not possible right now.

wow. I have seen that app of Snickler but i didn't notice how close it came to my request.
Am gonna go check it out now. Thanks for pointing that out.
@Ren13B
And the library is not accessible by third-party apps? This is why? Where did you get this information from?
I am aware of this new command for Mango-Builds, "save as ringtone", as some MS Person pointed that out in a blog. Why shouldn't there be a way to access a song and apply that function onto it (i wonder).
[EDIT]
Since i have talked to Snickler and found out that he is working on just THAT feature i consider this threads purpose being served. unfortunately i haven't checked Snicklers R1ing3d before. Could have spared this thread.
So this just is a jumper to the mentioned thread. People looking for this function finding my Thread may want to go there. Have fun. Thanks for dropping by
