Also, learn to search. your question has been answered many times over.
no sorry.. what i need is how to can i dump my existing rom to file? I know how to flash my device or how can i cook rom.. but i don`t know how to dump rom from my device.
tnx
abs
well, if you know "how can i cook rom" you know that ROM dumping is part of the process. Go look at KaiserChef by Mbarvian, it's probably the most newbie friendly kitchen available.
That's your one free handout.
Or you can just search for the stock AT&T and HTC Roms.
i will check... i dind`t find any procedure at the momeent to dump my existing rom. i need only that one.. in a file.
tnx
Abs
what is your carrier?
Actually, if you can make sense of how to use it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334680
Use at your own risk.

Hi everyone.
I started this thread, because i rly wanna try to build my own ROM.
I ll base it to O2 German XDA neo ROM and just remove the useless stuff.
As informatik i think i will manage this, just need any person who tells me how to beginn.
Here are my current questions for beginning:
- ROM includes ext rom also?
- How to "backup" my ROM (cause i want to save and need the files to edit them)
- How about OS Rom? I also need to edit it? (dont think so, only wanted to ask
- Wich tools i ll need to edit the ROM (extract/modify/repack)
- Its a G4 model, i need to unlock it before i can backup the roms? (tried with aWizard without unlock, only ext ROM was backuped)
- What else i need to know!?
Would be really nice, if any person who already made a own ROM could give me some start advise/information. Would prefer a German guy, cause its more complicated in a forgein language, but dont have to. Also it would be really nice if he could communicate over ts2, or jus ICQ/MSN etc to me, cause its just faster as over forum.
If i done, i ll write an enlish+german howto thread about this.
thx to all who wanna help me,
mfg s0urce

I'm starting to notice that this forum is continuously being flooded by newbies' requests for Touch original ROMs (Is the search button invisible or what). My only request is for the moderators to create a sticky containing all the original ROMs for the beloved Touch in order to leave the room for the significant and helpful threads only.
Edit:
Ok then, i've added the links that I found mostly needed for Original Touch ROMs. If you have more links (e.g. for additional versions/languages) feel free to post them here.

People aren't visiting the wiki (I know that's wrong but that's what's happening), so I find it more appropriate to put the links here since it's the first place to be visited by someone looking for a Touch ROM. Not to mention that this will freshen up the Elf Upgrading forum a little more.
Hello all....
I´m one of the newbies mentioned above and yes I did look in the wiki, but I would suggest not put the orig. ROMs in a sticky, cause the more sticky you have the "real" forum will go down and down in the list. One suggestion from my side (maybe the newbie side ...) put a new forum under the ELF Forum with a thread for each orig. ROM (like the listing in your post). Advantage would be, that you can always have a way to the latest orig ROM (i.e. German Vodafone): just look under ELF--> ROMs --> Thread Orig. ROM german. No discussion there, just the files or links (Only mods can write ?!?).
The other way would be the wiki, which I would prefer (although I´m a newbie )
moderators, why not?
how abt this!!!!!
check th ELF Wiki
or direct http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_Upgrades
^^ nice work dude..
mods. pls take a look at here
been updating the ROM links for a while. whichever way is convenient, pls sticky the wiki or separate thread. thankx. will be glad to help keep the ROMs sticky alive

keep attention to Case Sensitive.
ayyu3m is doing a great job there at the wiki. I think now there's no need for a sticky, but people have to learn that the wiki exists in order to visit it instead of spamming our beloved Elf Upgrading forum, which was the original reason behind my sticky request. Enjoy your flashing activities people
uhum
the touch wiki is one of the most shamefull ones. it's a good thing it will be filled up more. this way the standard anwser can always be. WIKI. so great effort but no sticky, it would be the same anwser a mod would give.
and as a sidenote.
i understand now why some people like opera mini.
Anyone tried to dump full ROM with all tweaks and apps? I'm cooking new ROM, from my dumped original ROM and done almost everything, but for some problems could not include few registry tweaks I did in Kaiser. It would be nice to dump ROM with all that settings and apps, instead of creating new OEM packets. Is it possible? I didn't find any info about that. Anyone?
Have you read the reconstructing ROMs thread? Your question belongs there and your answer may already be there.
In the future, please read the sticky and wiki before posting and reply to existing threads to help keep this forum clean. Thanks!

Thx for your reply m8, but I thought I read almost anything on this forum but didn't find what I was looking for. Don't get me wrong, but I didn't come here yesterday. I never ask questions about anything what I didn't search by myself everywhere, not only at xda-developers, what u can see from my threads.
I cooked many ROMs for Kaiser, and few years before I was at MIO forum and done many customization for A701 ROMs and all that is nothing new to me. I dumped my Kaiser ROM but didn't find solution for dumping full ROM with apps and tweaks.
Call be blind but I couldn't find solution. Sorry for long post but I had to explain the situation.

Just mentioning that it would be more helpful for everyone else if you were to reply to an existing thread that's already in the wiki and sticky, especially if you have an on topic problem that doesn't have a solution. If/when you find an answer, it will be next to impossible for the next person to find this thread, amongst all the redundant threads of this nature.
So if you want to help others as Austinsnyc has helped you, you can add this thread to the wiki

I have a queation
I want to update my rom but i dunno how to do
and how can i remver rom HTC oringal plugin etc...
cos xda development software and many update ia coming up
like mainila2D.... my ram start going down not enough memory for me
Question is how can i backup my rom first(in case i can restore)
than how can i update a rom in xda development
OR how can i developemnt by myself
I will take it easy on you but a lot of ppl won't.. hope you got thick skin..LOL
They will tell you to read first. But since you ask a "stupid" question you cannot ask "how you can develop your own rom" ...
First of all you should say which country you from... Usually ppl/chef have had extracted the rom before so in the event that you want to install original rom you can downloaded from here.
Second. if you want to install a rom, read the stickies.

The Backup question has been asked to death, I suggest you search and read some of the other thread where people have asked the same question.
Information on ROM flashing and Cooking is in the Wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Kaiser.
Please take time to read the information, it will have most of the answers to your questions.
Thanks
Dave
When you dump your rom and try to reconstruct it using the guide available the resulting nbh won't contain the original splash screen or anything else from the rom, just the customised rom from your manufacturer. I've checked quite a few reconstructed roms and they only contain os.nb.
Can someone tell me otherwise?
I'm sure the information is already on these forums, but there is so much to read that I'm not sure where to start and I really need it all in a easy to follow format.
Please can someone put down or link me to info on the following....
I have The Official T-Mobile 6.1 ROM on my phone and this is what I want to do:
1) Extract my 6.1 rom to be reinstated later
2) Get hold of the Official T-Mobile 6.0 ROM
3) Flash my phone back to the Official T-Mobile 6.0 ROM
4) Restore my backup via sprite (this is the only bit I know how to do)
5) Create an upgrade file in Sprite (I can probably figure this out)
6) Flash my phone back to the the Official T-Mobile 6.1 ROM that I extracted in step 1)
7) Restore my backups from 6.0 using the upgrade file I created in step 5)
Thanks in advance for any help/advice
DJ
/edit if this should be in Kaiser general please can someone move it for me. Ta.
Take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369282, its a sticky on the Kaiser ROM development page.
Um, you should be able to search the forum for this info. I advise you do so as you'll get flamed by the moderators for posting without searching, which is one of the rules. Hope I don't get flamed for this post...
Thanks very much for you post
I still can't find how to extract my ROM, I'd like to post it on the forums because it is the newest one that T-Mobile have in the UK.

The OP is a lazy sumabich! You want us to prepare your dinner, draw your bath, and give you a backrub while we do all of the other things you requested. YUK!
I really don't see what you are trying to back up. You are asking for some very complicated things to do as a noob. People here do a lot of moving from rom to rom and using sprite isn't the best tool for this. I don't think sprite will do the job of making a backup from 6.0 to 6.1. Sprite should only be used for the same rom. Restore all your stuff the hard way through cabs and activesync.
Please can someone tell me how to extract the rom that T-Mobile put on my phone so that I can always change it back?
I'm going to cook my own tasty rom from some guides etc rather than going back to WM6.0.
But I want to save my T-Mobile 3.31.110.1 WWE rom before I start.
Thanks

Look first search for the Rom you have on the device now. You should be able to find the Orignial Tmobile Rom. THen just tuck it away. then you need to Hard SPL your phone and security unlock it. Then you need to READ go to the WiKI, Asking for detailed instructions, in the worng place is not a good idea. At this moment think of a Giant pool of hungry Sharks now picture yourself as hanging from a line just over the top of the water. you are now lowering into the water slowly but you are soon to be Someones Lunch. Now Run to the WiKi and read, read ,read...Do you want to be chum! or do you want to learn! everything you need to know is here in this forum, You need to look not ask! and last but not least WELCOME TO THE GROUP!

check out the Dumping your ROM video in this Thread. It should help you accomplish dumping your 6.1 ROM for cooking. The 6.1 ROM should be available from HTC's website (www.htc.com). Instead of switching back to 6.0 just to create an upgrade file (since you insist on using sprite) download and install Sprite 6.2.2. It will allow you to create a backup file of just your personal databases without having to revert back to 6.0 to create an upgrade file. It will also allow you to restore your backup without having Sprite installed on your new ROM. You are trying to make too much work for yourself.
Thanks for the replies
I'm on the HTC site trying to get the rom, but all I can find is HTC TyTn II and not Vario III.
I was under the impression that these devices were essentially the same, BUT I get the following message when I enter my serial number on the site:
"Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device."
I will have to dunp my rom instead I think because it's too new to be online yet, T-Mobile just upgraded it to this one a couple of weeks ago.
