could somone (much better at hardware hacking than me) just do a flash dump ( uhh jtag or uhh i dunno ) from the flash on an rc29 or a hacked rc30 phone and overwrite the flash of an ota rc30 updated phone...
would this be too much soldering or uhh not even possible i dunno?
if anyone wants to school me on how to do anything... i've got an extra android phone laying around.
I dont know everything so i could be wrong but i believe in order to do that you would have to have a way to dump and load the flash of the phone. Which i believe you would need software from HTC
seems like you could just read and write raw data.. like just do a direct copy of the flash from one to the other.. i don't know if thats possible with the hardware or not ... i'm not very educated in all of this

Doesn't seem to have JTAG pins/pads. The flash is stored in a BGA multichip memory. The multichip isn't epoxied down, so if you really really wanted to you could probably desolder it and start from there.

I found a Windows Mobile 2005 zip file and when I connect it and run HimaUpgradeUt.exe it will say it is going to update...next it checks the device like normal then it does this:

anyone that went beyond this point?
ps, I know there is supposed to be no WM2005 for Magician, but I just wanted to try...and the screen looks promising, but also a bit dangerous
As far as I know there isn't a WM5 ROM for the Magician. Don't try to upgrade with a Himalaya ROM (which I guess is what you're doing).
Of course, if you HAVE got a WM5 ROM for a Magician then sharing it would be a neighbourly thing to do...
yeah, its a Himalaya ROM
I just want it so bad....its almost stronger then me
no 2 devices have ever been able to share a rom
so even if it would install it would not run
roms only have the drivers of the hardware
they are made for other devices like magician require
other drivers
To all those out there who wish to have WM2005 for your Magicians. I heard of your ill-fated adventures and wish to tell you all how sorry I am. If the skies could fall open and these things could fall from the skies, then you would have no need to be scared, and yes, you would be stronger than your desire. I understand all too well how you love your devices as little and compact as they maybe, ( I live with a man who constantly worships his device and I truly understand his woes.) You are not alone. May the force be with you all. I won't post again, as I am a busy concubine who has polish my Emperor's powerful, strong device.
Hi Guys,
I am totally new to this Android stuff but I love it and would love to learn about it. I have just bought an HTC Magic (32A) which has a logo of TIM on it. It has firmware version 1.4 and the build number is 2.15.901.4.
What I want to do is upgrade my phone to the latest version of Android, and also have the Sense UI installed in it. But I do not know where to start or what to look for. Can somebody here, kindly, briefly describe how can I achieve my target or atleast point me in the right direction.
Regards,
Kamil Waheed

P.S you need to root it, flash the new radio, SPL and recovery and then flash a ROM of your choice which is for the new radio. (2.1 Sense ROMs for the new radio are better than those for the old one(3.22)
Thanks for your reply.
Yea, I know I should google it but googling didn't help a bit. I am a bit too confused right now.
I have found a few tutorials on how to root it.
After that, how to flash the new radio. Instead, I should ask, what is radio?
What is SPL and how to flash that?
What is recovery and how to flash that?
Which ROM should I flash to? Can you also give me a link to one?
I am sorry, but I know nothing about Android. A little more help would be appreciated.
It might help to read this first.

***I TAKE NO CREDIT AS THE AUTHOR OF THIS IMAGE, IT HAS BEEN FLOATING AROUND ON THE HTC FACEBOOK PAGE, I COULD NOT FIND THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR***
I thought this was fitting given the current situation regarding the HTC bootloader fiasco and my depletion of patience with them....
***You know the drill, im not responsible if you bork something and end up with a paperweight. Tested this 3 times to verify.***
##REQUIREMENTS - ROOT AND S-OFF##
put it on the root of your sd card and verify the md5 (i prefer to do this while on the sdcard)
dont rename it (it should be named PC36IMG.zip)
FLASH IN BOOTLOADER, NOT RECOVERY
FLASH IN BOOTLOADER, NOT RECOVERY
you can get here with quickboot (free), run quickboot then choose "bootloader", it will boot into the bootloader, now push power over bootloader, it will scan it and ask if you wish to flash, choose yes then reboot......then remove it from the sdcard....

Splash screens persist just like radios, PRI's, etc....flashing a new rom wont overwrite it, its permanant unless you flash a stock one back over...
Here is the stock splash for anyone who wants/needs to go back

This is prefect. My 3VO is a paper weight till they unlock bootloader.
I'm waiting till they unlock the 3d bootloader before I buy one (thats assuming they do at all)...Their announcement hyped it up for me, I was so excited to buy one....now im just pissed. They dangled it like a twinkie in front of everyone by saying they would, then they ate it and laughed at us....

i think you need a gold card, try reading this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523160
ok, still going to need some help here....
The phone will NOT boot at all etc, and I cant get the CID to create a gold card.
And even if I DID create a gold card, how would I go about flashing when the phone only goes to the above screens shown?????
Anyone fancy taking me step by step in exactly what I need to do?
well im not a developer or anything, im just trying to help, your problem is not that hard, if you have a knowledge in fastboot command you can fix your issue with just a little bit of reading, others solve this kind of problem just read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372533 and if you dont know how abd fastboot go'es try reading this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719 sorry if keep telling you to read, im not a developer i just have a little knowledge about this things, and maybe someone maybe able to help you step by step on how you will do it, good luck..
Flash RUU, or try using Revolutionary to S-OFF in fastboot mode.
Before you ask for more detailed instructions - SEARCH. Start with the INDEX thread in General section.
I made a new splash screen for the htc one sv. It is the screen you see when you first turn on your phone now you can change it.
Just put it on the root of your sd card and boot into HBOOT it will find it and ask if you want to install it.
For awesome instructions and more info on how to do this check out old.splatterhand's guide here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2212152
WARNING!!!
As with any modifying of system files anything can go wrong!!! Make a FULL BACKUP before using this. It does work for me and have been using it for a month with no problems. But i hold no responsibility if your phone bricks from this, your doing it at your own risk. So please know what you are doing and if you need help ask before not after you bricked your phone.
Change the boring splash screen with this one.

Thank you. I looked thru your index that you made (very well laid out have it booked marked) but i did not see the the original splash screen listed anywhere. Maybe i over looked it. But maybe you can grab it from the phone, i would of but couldn't figure out how to, so i just overwritten mine, would be nice in case some one wants to reinstall it for warranty purposes. I looked for hours to find the ADB code to save it but couldn't so i gave up on it and just bit the bullet and overwritten it.
