Hello all X1-ians,
Me just bought an X1 Xperia in SIN but Chinese software is not pre-loaded
Hope there is someone able to help me on how & where to find a Chinese software (i.e. Read & Write) to load for FREE. Many thanks in advance.
Hi there, i am from SIN too, i had seen a forum floating around saying about chinese font, it worked for my HTC touch, however, i am not sure about the SIP to write chinese would work for your phone resolution. You would find a font called kaidi sunfon chinese font in the rest of the thread.
However, you have to take a risk, i tried other chinese font cab from other places and i need to do a hard reset.
The thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430347, hoped this helped u.

I'd like to tell you that a Chinese ROM would be the best solution.
I need Thai font/keyboard for my Qtec S100. Have tried Thaiwince, but its a bit buggy (had to hard reset). Anyone tried Thai-g, can not find a trial download, did they do a version for WM2003SE ?
Any help on Thai-g or perhaps other software solutions would be a great help.
I know the font subject has been touched many times before but i need to type & email in Thai not just view Thai font.
Many thanks.
I found Asian language keyboards & fonts here

Works great, I'm a happy man.
Hi,
I got Spice MI-310 with Android 2.2(Froyo), which is budget Android phone. I wanted to have language pack with hindi keyboard to type, but couldn't find it anywhere in net, Though, I found samsung Galaxy range phones have built-in Hindi keyboard support.
I found that Android 2.3 have hindi support, but couldn't find exact ROM for this phone, as I don't know what hardware it got. The earlier model Spice MI-300 phone is known with the model name Vibo-A688/Z71 among the android community and as per the android wiki, it is made by Taiwan based company Commtiva.
I have also inserted DroidHindi.ttf as DroidSansFallback.ttf into /system/fonts folder. And used more MoreLocale2 to create new hindi profile. But I couldn't get hindi keyboard.
some has suggested to get Samsung hindi IME, but couldn't find it either.
Earlier I had Nokia 6303 model, which I found very easy to type in hindi for SMS and Social Site, and I find it easier to use unicode in Linux, but why it's so hard for android, which is based on Linux.
Please suggest.
Hope these work n help..

Hi,
This is a great great problem in my country without a solution yet:
Turkish characters are not shown in the recieved SMSs. Instead of them only a space there.
For example:
written by another phone and sent to android: "yoğurt yiyorum şu anda"
the recieved message: "yo urt yiyorum u anda"
The phones which are bought from Turkey and not flashed a custom rom don't have this problem.
They (actually, all the phones those are sold here, in Turkey) have an expression on their boxes: “This device is in accordance with ETSI TS 123.038 V8.0.0 (or the code of the subsequent version) and ETSI TS 123.040 V8.1.0 (or the code of the subsequent version) technical features that include all the Turkish characters.”
I think, the custom ROMs are not in accordance with these standards.
I have two android phones at the moment: a Galaxy Spica i5700 (bought from Turkey), and a Nexus S (which I bought from US).
Spica had the Turkish characters first. But I have rooted and flashed the phone, so lost the characters. Since I don't have the original ROM, I can not get them back...
Until here, I tried to describe the problem.
Now I will give what I have that can help to solve the problem:
1- ETSI links: They are not the exact versions but the closest that I could find.
ETSI TS 123 038 V8.3.0
ETSI TS 123 040 V9.2.0
2- An Original Turkish ROM: it's for Galaxy S i9000
http://www.multiupload.com/ZCLE3EOPWH (it's a PIT file)
It will be a great favor if anyone can solve this problem...
Thanks in advance,
Erkam

I think you are possibly doing this in the wrong area. I think that if you want traction with a change like this, that you would need to do one of three things.
1) Contact maintainers or on the boards of a ROM you like to use (Cyanogen, etc)
2) Try to get it noticed by Google on their official Bug Tracker and Feature Request Tracker for support in stock Android OS
3) Code the fix yourself, Cyanogen source and "AOSP" stock android are available, and introducing character-set capabilities into the messaging app aren't exactly trivial things, however, with time and dedication I am sure it is possible.
I agree that foreign character coding out of stock Android isn't always there, or if it is, it isn't universal across all of the stock applications (like your example of SMS/Messaging application). Does this do this also in GoogleVoice? Or maybe you don't have access to Google Voice since you are outside of the US.
First, I want to thank you a lot for spending your time to answer
I tried your second advice but did not get a solution, yet. Still waiting.
I wanted to try the 3rd one too, actually. But I need to gain more computer/coding skills to achieve that. I could not even find an understandable guide to learn (or maybe I am too noob to understand).
So, the remaining advice is the first one and I am going to take it immediately
As you said, since I am outside of the US, I do not have access to Google Voice, unfortunately.
But, if it is ok for you, I can send a message to your google voice to check it.
by the way, ofcourse, it is not only a problem of Turkey, but also Spain, France etc.. I could not find a solution in their forums, neither.
Thanks again, for your help.
