The Mobipocket Reader is available for quite any mobile platform. The Reader supports many features, like automatic scrolling, fonts, screen rotation, etc.
Wikipedia issues are available as well, which makes it the perfect companion for me.

These are the ones i use

The best pdf reader...

Hi guys!
I just bought an HP 514 with Win mobile 6 smartphone... can you help me to find out the best pdf reader for wm6 smartphone?
Thanks!
I convert my PDFs to RepliGo
I convert all my documents and pdfs to RepliGo format. It is the easiest to use on a small screen and document compression is the best. You can print to a RepliGo document on your PC. You can also convert web pages to RepliGo format and it will auto resize large pages to fit a standard document size. It has a text search. The reader on the pda is less than 400K. The reader is free for Windows, PPC, Smartphone, Palm so if you have to share a document you can share the reader.

hard to say what is the best but there is a reader from adobe itself and i also use MobileXpdf.
Repligo has a big disadvantage.. you dont have your desktop pc with you if you get a mail with a pdf attachment
Where can I download MobileXpdf for WM 6 smartphone?
I can't find it surfing the web...
dont remember where i found it. google found it here for example:
http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/download.sourceforge.net/pub/sourceforge/m/mo/mobilexpdf/
havent checked this, if you dont trust that source give me your mail adress

foxit reader = bet pdf reader on the market.
the projects address
you can download mobilexpdf at
http://www.mobilexpdf.blogspot.com
or by going to
http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/mobilexpdf
PS: when foxit will be better than mobilexpdf, i'll eat it! and by the way... don't you have to pay for foxit reader (mobilexpdf is free/opensource) so not the same category...
(sorry for my english) I will try mobilexpdf, (thanks for your work gciochina). I have tried Foxit and I have uninstall it 5 minutes later. I think that we dont need a pdf reader for see little parts of a document with images, etc... For that we have Adobe Reader LE or PDF to Go, or... but a reader that extracts text from pdfs for read it like .txt or .rtf, .doc, etc... and that it allows that we pruned to read pdf ebooks without any previous transformation.
A couple questions about Adobe Reader LE
1. How do I associate .pdf files to the Adobe Reader LE? The .pdf files have the default icon for unassociated files. I tried using Resco Explorer to associate them with the Reader using "Open with". But... I get an invalid path error every time I click any .pdf file.
2. I got Adobe Reader LE 2.0 from the Extras.zip from one of the 6.0 ROM, is Adobe Reader 2.5 available in the newer ROMs?
Thanks...
another vote for the latest version of mobileXpdf. I'm using it on my HP iPaq 510 and it works great...

Ok... I was testing the new Foxit pdf reader Beta, but was annoyed by the banner that reminds one to register it. I installed MobileXpdf 0.0.6.0 using the cab available at SourceForge and I like what I see. I noticed that it was a little slow. The source for the latest version 0.0.6.2 was available, but there was no cab file availble just the source. McHale, do you know where I can get a cab file for 0.0.6.2 as it "might" fix some of the performance issues I noticed.
Thanks...

I'm using 0.0.6.0. They update CONSTANTLY so 0.0.6.2 or newer should be available soon.
The reason it is slow on your HP is because is the phone itself is slow. It takes me forever to edit contacts and do other simple things...
But, slowness aside, I really like the HP 510. For someone who isn't a power user of Windows Mobile applications besides the basics, it is perfect.

MobileX is better than adobe. Thanks. But personally pdf's just plain suck period on my shadow. I installed acrobat pro just to convert pdf's to html which works much faster. Foxit in ANY shape sucks balls. (try pdf-xchange viewer)
A tip for those using adobe reader le version 2.5 to read pdf files
To make the text fit to page and great to read, try adjusting the zoom level to 100 % or 105% using the plus or minus buttons [or from the menu], next click on 'tools' [ bottom left hand corner of screen], select 'view' then select 'reflow', the result should be an improved layout of page info and text, the only thing is you will have to go thru this process everytime you open a new pdf file.
'Reflow' in Adobe reader was the clincher for me - it officially does everything I need a PDF reader to do.
Opens large files quickly
Reflow for easier on-screen reading (reading that technical manuals that I do needs some level of formatting retained)
Rotate for landscape reading
It's fast (I quickly got sick of MobileX's "Rendering page" message)
I only wish that the reflow option could be set up as a preference...
I'm chuffed that I finally found a way to carry lots of books around with me in a readable format!
Adobe Reader LE 2.5
Hi
Add another vote for Adobe Reader LE 2.5
Cheers

Adobe Reader LE 2.5 is pretty fast.
It would be even better if some one could find a way to disable the splash screen and improve loading time.

finger friendly ebook reader?

hi folks,
I currently use ms reader and all of my books are in .lit format
does anyone know a finger friendly reader that will let me easily change pages on screen? I hate using the hardware buttons on my phone
cheers
chris
Mobipocket Reader 6.1
Mobipocket reader is awesome, it reads .lit formats and you can turn the page by tapping the screen. you can also install the desktop version on your pc and it will convert and send books to your phone.
since when does mobipocket support .lit ??
wish mine did ! lol
Halli reader, you can simplely tap the screen to the next page
have looked at both but they don't read .lit
are there any besides ms reader that does?
Considering .lit is not an open format and msreader's a very good reader....I doubt you'll find much of anything other than msreader to read your ebooks.
And you don't need to use the hardware buttons. You can tap the page-number or the arrows next to the page-number if you really want to bungle along without the hardware buttons.
Personally I prefer using the directional pad on my hx4700 though the up-down on the side of my axim x5 was even better (stupid pda broke though ).
has anyone got the cab for tiny reader I understand that may work
got the trial version, does anyone know what the limitations are?
mobireader perfect
mobireader is free, has a cab installer, and not only has tap screen for next and previous page but has an autoscroll feature where the text smoothly scrolls up the screen at whatever speed you prefer. I found this useful when working on a cross-trainer and wanting to read at the same time. Made a holder for the phone (HD2) and left it scrolling, never had to touch it again till the workout had finished. Its a perfect reader for text files although, I agree, I dont think lit is supported as thats an MS format.
Got the new reader on Wm6.5.3 on HD2 and testing that out now if I can find any details.
I used to read lit files on ms reader but then switched to the far superior mobipocket. I use the free ABC Amber Lit Converter to convert to html, which can be dragged onto the mobipocket desktop reader.
---
+1 for mobireader...gotta luv the autoscroll!

Wich ebook reader to use with WVGA?

Wich ebook reader to use with WVGA?
Anybody got a idea? Having trouble to read eBooks because everything is to small.
allreader search for free english version...
I don't have the link handy.... it scales very well for any screen size..
you can also add fonts to the windows font folder and change the fonts in the program.
the same program works in both standard and professional wm...
eReader and Mobipocket work perfectly on Omnia 2 (WVGA). As rob_van_triet says, you can use fonts from your PC and of course, you can set fontsize to anything you like.
try this http://www.isilo.com/
Allreader is the one (-;
Thx all
Wise choice
I use Alreader on HD and happy with it.
You can also try µBook (http://www.gowerpoint.com/).
Thanks guys for the info, was looking for a good eReader for quite some while now =D
Anyone have a link to free english version of allreader? Can't find free one anywhere?! Thanks!!
Extract and copy .exe file to your phone and run Its english Alreader 2.3, works very good on my Leo
Thanks Petulinek! Its perfect! Nice one.
It's better than Abode Reader?
Maybe a stupid question but i'm looking for a e-book reader which can do the following things:
- Can open .LIT, .EPUB and .MOBI
- Works in a Windows Mobile 6.5 environment
- Works on a HTC HD2 smartfone, i.e. without a stylus
I've tried all the possible apps mentioned above. I used to be very fond of MS Reader but that one doesn't work on Winmo 6.5. Does anybody have an idea for me? TIA
UBook works perfect, do not use pencil, the application is handled very well by setting the gestures, supports multiple formats of text files sorporta zipped text with pictures inside, change fonts, appearance and etc.
The first time I Insala gave me problems but I think it's because they did not have Framework 3.5 installed on HD2, now works perfect, although I can not certify that the problem was not having Framework installed.
A greeting

I am looking for the same thing I have tons of .LIT books so I need an ebook app to handle that
does anyone of them have page markers to save your current location in the "book"?
alreader has page markers.
Undoubtedly uBook reader, supports multiple formats, annotations, boolmarks, etc, HD2 works perfectly and gestures can be configured to turn the page, etc. autoscroll.
I use and I will perfect
Thanks, i have 2.6 if ya want it, its ok, finger scroll would be nice though
I have been reading ebooks on my various phones for years and the best I have used on Windows Mobile is AllReader followed by uBook then Mobipocket. Isilo is poor in my view and to be avoided. I used to use uBook more than any other but once you start using AllReader there is no going back, it is just so configurable. Superb software and well worth the money.

Dictionary app.

Hello,
I was hoping if anyone has come across a Free, Simple, dictionary application for WM6 (I am looking to run it on HTC HD).
If not free, if you have come across a good, relatively not expensive one, that would also be of some help. Dont need any fancy features! Just words with meanings.
Thank you for your help friends.
Mdict sounds like what you're looking for. It's a completely free dictionary viewer, and a few different dictionaries can be found for download at the bottom of the linked page on their site (also free).
Hi there,I am also looking for a Dict.app. that can be used with e-book reader (am using
Isilo)what I need is a dict.that is linked to the e-reader so that I can look up the defination
of words from the page of the e-reader without changing app.

Anyone reading e-books on topaz? looking for soft

hello, i am looking for some software, which can read pdb files (e-books). i was using haali reader for my axim x51, but topas doesnt have any HW navigation (up,down) buttons. its hard to use haali without these HW buttons.
is there any other software like haali was? (except mobipocket reader)
thanks
I had the same problem with MarkMyScriptures, a software that i use to read scriptures.
I've solved that isue installing gsm keyboard 1.4,
and then you can remap vol up/vol down to down and up.
so you don't need another app.
Here you have the way to remap up/down, and in the 1st post you can download the app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555821&page=2
ok, kbdcontrol 1.4 is running, but i have problem with class definition. its changing (some hex numbers), everytime i open application (haali).
EDIT:
solved: used PROCESS function (reader.exe).
but original keys doesnt work as usual. i want to map these keys only for specific app (that haali reader).
EDIT2:
solved, original keys work as usual -> used "*" in configuration. YEAH!
thanks!
I've used haali on my xda mini, for topaz I use AlReader2. Is very simillar to haali (based on it actualy) but you can move forward/backward by taping on the screen instead of buttons. Very comfortable for me.
ok, got allreader+, its much more better than haali, no need to have hw buttons... i recommend it.
Alreader2
Hi there,
been an ebook fanatic since the days of the HP Ipaq... always used HaaliReader, but with Diamond II it's nothing but problems... doesnt seem to recognize any hardware buttons or respond properly to screen touch.
I recommend Alreader (alreader.com I think)... still no button support, but at least scrolling is easy.. dunno if it reads your ebook format though, I only read .fb2
If you find smth better, post please =)

nice sw for reading ebooks on the TOPAZ
Hi, because of the very nice display of my topaz i tried different e-book reader applications. Most of them (some of the above mentioned too) didn´t even start on the topaz (WM6.5).
Finally I tried "mobipocket reader" as part of the free mobipocket desktopsoftware. It runs perfectly. Different modes of turning the page, autoscroll function, fullscreen support, editable background and font colors.
The Windows desktop Software also is very good for my needs. It´s able to convert a vary of formats (.pdf, .xls, .doc etc.) into the mobipocket mobile format and exports them automatically if my topaz is connected via activesync and software started. You can also buy ebooks @ mobipocket.
The mobipocket mobile reader does exactly what I want !!!
look for mobipocket.com
Mobipocket
mobipocket works just fine for me too
yes, using Mobipocket too, since is the only one i've found for WM. not very special but works ok, good interaction with the desktop version.
