Fuze question - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I will be getting the fuze this weekend and have a few questions about it.
In the ROM development forum it seems that most ROM's are developed for the touch pro, will these work on the fuze or do I need to use one designed for the fuze?
Also is it worth it to upgrade the radio? And from my reading I'm slightly confused about upgrading the radio. I read somewhere that to upgrade the radio you need to security unlock the phone. Is this true for all radio's or just a few?
Edit: I read the step-by-step guide for flashing and it says either do it through sync or microsd. Which is safe/better?

hey, before you flash ANYTHING do hardSPL. then you can flash any rom made for the gsm touch pro or fuze. pretty much any rom in the rom forum you can flash. all the cdma roms are in that forum, so you dont have to worry about it. i havent flashed my radio, the radio that came with the fuze works great. some people claim that a different radio can improve your gps performance. i was able to fix my gps without a new radio. good luck

Thanks for the reply, I'll try to get the stock radio working before I even think about flashing it.

what do you mean by "getting the stock radio working"? as long as your getting a signal and placing/receiving calls its' working..

Radio roms: Which gives best signal and reception?

Hi I am running NBD v.8.3 wm6 on my mda and I am just hoping someone could tell me what the best possible combination is to create the strongest signal and create the best reception.
I have been using the T-Mobile 2.69.11 radio and was not entirely satisfied. It seemed quieter for some reason and some people could not hear me as well as with the standard T-Mobile 2.26.11 radio.
Right now I am using the Cingular 2.47.11 radio with the XDA Cingular WM6 Radio Fix2 and my signal seems a little stronger. Like when I would be sitting here at my computer, I would only have like 1 bar with the 2.69.11 radio but now I have 2 but that still isnt good enough for me.
Is there any other combination that I have missed or a better radio out there? If anyone has any ideas, please post and let me know.
hey i got the same problem.. i have the tmobile mda and i think reception sucks, i would lose reception while just sitting in my house and at work. so wat i did.. is i flashed my fone with the tmobile 2.26 offical rom and than i flashed it with the XM6r3 rom just cause it works great for me and than i flashed it with the T-Mobile-UK_2.19.11_Radinly ROM and so far it seems to be working great for me i'll have 1 or 2 bars at home but i havent lost reception yet... so give it a try and let me know how it goes..
The T-Mobile-UK_2.19.11_Radinly ROM is the best I've used. I'm even using it now with the latest official Cingular ROM for the 8125 (Wizard 100)
what about the2.47 Cingular one
I cannot find the radio ROM 2.47 anywhere, can you guys help me and as far as 2.19 T-mobile UK only how is the battery life on your phone ?
Thanks

mfrazzz links to several radio only updates in his first post of the XM6R3 post..I'm not sure if 2.47 is one of those.

Thank you I checked the post and he does not have that but I also searched the forum and no one posted the file but a good number of people refer to using it. I will check the pantry and see what is there

I think there is still a radio rom directory on the XDA ftp and it might be in there.
I found it and I others as well 2.19/2.21/2.25/2.40/2.47/2.69

Hi guys!
Is there any documentation, or just some user white papers, of what the difference between the diff. radio roms are? Does anyone even know, beyond the observation of which one gave their particular phone better reception? I'm curious just for the sake of knowledge
I'm running the 2.25.11 radio rom, on my Cingular 8125, and it works good, but lately I've missed/ignored a couple calls and my phone doesn't have the "missed call" icon on the top bar, my Phone program registers a missed call though.
I want to load up different radio roms and see which one works the best though, however I can't remember the instructions on doing that to my G4 CID-Locked phone. I've been looking around the forums and can't find it. Anyone point me in the right direction?
EDIT: I found the thread I was looking for. This thread talks about another radio rom and a utility to use on G4 phones, which can be found here.
Question for any knowledgeable people reading this. Can the G4 utility mentioned in the other thread I linked to, be used to load cooked roms too? Or is it safe to just load radio roms with it only?
I've tried them all and I've found the 2.61 radio rom to have the best signal.

I like the cingular stock radio 2.25.11
For me 2.47.11 radio rom works best.....Goodyear Az AT&T
I loaded 2.61 and haven't seen any difference. I may play with the radio roms later. I loaded the bundle referenced earlier. I wonder how much difference a ROM can really make on radio reception though. Still, an interesting experiment.
Yo all! Take a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306296
Thanks Wizeman! A good thread. He did is homework, it appears.
I've loaded the ROM he recommends but don't see any differece of note. Although a marginal difference would be difficult to see without a more scientific method than mine.
My desk is located where I will get and lose the signal - mostly no signal at all. I still see the occassional signal capture but no more than usual. Again, not very scientific. Nonetheless, I'll use the 2.19 since it doesn't appear to have any less performance and somebody has some measurements to support the case for this ROM.
I am confused though, since signal level is a hardware measurement (electrical measurement) and not a software issue. Oh well.
I am the one who did the measurements starter of that topic and of course still using 2.19.11
Oops ... didn't look, just read the post! I'm sure it was good for a chuckle though.
2.19.11 - Best Radio ROM
Undoubtedly, 2.19.11 is the best radio ROM for reception. I was always alternating between 1 bar and no signal at my work with 2.15 and now with 2.19.11, I have atleast 2-3 bars at all times. I am on T-mobile network.
I had numerous missed calls before but since the last 2 days after changing to 2.19.11 I haven't had one.

Hello all. I'm trying to find out what radio people are using with T-Mobile USA.

I've been lurking around here for about a week and I've been able to flash a G3 and a G4 T-Mobile MDA to WM6 (BlackDiamond 3.1) without posting for any help even though I did run into some issues. (yey for me! ) This forum has a wealth of info and just want to say thanx for all who contrubuted.
However, I'm a little confused on the issue of which radio ROM to use. I've been looking back and forth and it's just not easy to decide, especialy when you have so many variables: G3 or G4, carrier, WM5 or WM6 base ROMs, issues with specific ROMS, ect.
So, both MDA users have reported some slight issues with their radios: G4 had an episode of not being able to hang up a call this morning. G3 had a sigal issue (not certain what the issue was though, girls phone at work). Both are on radio ROM 2.24.11 and using the BD 3.1 ROM. I see that there are 2.47.11 and 2.69.11 radio ROMs out as well. Which radios would be best for these phones?
Just looking for experience with T-Mobile users and their radio versions. Thanx in advanced. And if there's already a thread about this, please accept my apologies and point me in the right direction please.
i use the 2.19.11 UK radio rom with the cingular wm6 radio rom patch. below is the link to the radio, i don't remember where i got the patch. if you can't find it by sorting through the forum send me a PM and i'll email it to ya.
I noticed that i got better service in most places, but i live near the edge of coverage for tmo in my area so there were no miracles. i reccomend it though. no issues to report.

Here is the patch. what radio to use is a million Dollar question. You have to really try them all to really find out what works best for you.
Here are some on post #2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=346478
and in the wiki
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Wizard
Thanx for the replies. I had already found the patch and loaded it on the G3 phone. I don't know the effects yet because my coworker is now on vacation, so I won't see them til next year.
However, I'm still in question about the G4 phone (which is my wife's) and if I should change her radio or not. Seems good so far, except that one glitch, but if i encounter any more problems, I'll start experimenting. Reason I didn't start experimenting from the jump is that some were reporting that they could not downgrade back to their original radios after upgrading to like 2.61.11 from 2.19.11 or similar.
Thanx again for the replies. This let's me know that the question of "What's the best radio" is similar to "What's the best ROM"
I'm using the Radio ROM from the T-Mobile mid-06 upgrade package, and am happy with it....
best radio IMHO
I have used several radios but the one at t-mobile s website. is the best .
no problems at all ever . I think is 02.25.11
in wm5 or wm6 is great
I have a the wizard ( mda vario) im in california. with t-mobile usa.

Can i please have some assistance with a radio please?

Hi everyone. Excellent place here. VERY helpful, and the information flows like wine!
I bought a at&t tilt, i have sim unlocked it, and installed about 4 different roms. I have ended up going back to 1.56.405.5 (radio 1.27.12.11) standar HTC rom version. I like it the best.
However, i am having a hard time figuring out info about the radio. The battery life doesnt seem to be the greatest. And my wifi signal strength is shockingly bad, or so it seems anyway.
Am i able to use a better radio with this rom? Can someone recommend something that will will work without any problems, but will be an actual improvement radio?
I've read the wiki, and have tried searching, but like a lot of other people, it almost overload of info. I would really appreciate it, im going out of town, and having this thing run at bettter performance would really make me happy.
I appreciate any recommendations!
ive been using the niki radio in my signature (downloadable in the wiki) in eastern us and have had no problems. letting everyone know where you are would help in recommending a radio
There are a whole bunch of radios, and there is no clear cut winner. As long as your radio is compatible with your rom, then you gotta test out of all the radios compatible with your rom, which one works the best.

to be honest dude radio performances vary by region; something that works great for me here in mclean, va USA probably might not work great for you. It really is just a lot of experimenting with different radios until you find one that gives you good reception and battery life. I believe that the stock htc rom is wm 6 so any wm6 radio will be compatible with the rom; just need to try, try, and try again to see what works best for you.
If you live around metro dc try the radio in my sig... but wait thats a windows mobile 6.1 radio so don't

My cellular reception is actually really nice! my main issue, is this: i live in a condo, and last night, i went out on my balcony. i was about 15 feet diagonally away from my linksys wrt54GL router, and i wasnt getting ANY wifi. the only thing seperating my phone and router was the wall.
gps signal seems great, with Garmin. Google maps however, i cant get to find a satellite to save my life!
So what everyone is saying is that noone really knows. Im in Miami using T-Mobile and i just installed HardSPL and it worked like a charm. Now i want to install a new rom and theres a bit too much info for me to untagle at this point. So far i gather that some rom's come with different and changable radio versions built in while others work with only 1 version. Now im curious.... how does one install and change these radio settings?
can i just download one and install it?
is there any thread or some sort of complied radio proformances by region? how do these radio versions differ by regional location? i have so many questions....

seems like everyone has got a radio question today but here is my answer to help u:
u need to flash a radio like u flash a rom. when u download a radio it has the customruu.exe w/ it. key is to remember one thing: wm6 roms work w/ wm6 radios and wm6.1 roms work w/ wm6.1 radio only. most roms will work with different radios unless the chef specifically has it matched to one radio only.
for more info plz read kaiser wiki.
p.s. while flashing radio ur phone has to be sync w/ pc
>> I have ended up going back to 1.56.405.5 (radio 1.27.12.11) standar HTC rom version. I like it the best
radios 1.27.xx.xx are the only that will be compatible with WM6.0 ROM. Newer 1.5x.xx.xx and 1.6x.xx.xx radios will cause the following issue:
You are going to lose multimedia sound completely: no ringtones, etc, etc.
In call sound will be likely still functional, but I don't belive that this is something you are looking forward to anyway.
I cannot recommend you the best radio for you ROM, but some would say that : 1.27.12.32 is the one.
I hope it helps.
I'm using dutty's rom WM6.1 WWE Rom. I havent changed the Radio yet. I've been using the ROM for about 2 months now and everything was working fine. But recently my phone won't ring. I can still make and receive calls though. Could the problem be because I haven't changed the Radio?

can you update just the radio from a stock rom?

I have a ATT Tilt, with original ROM. I downloaded the newest ROM from HTC for the ATT Tilt. Only reason I did this was because I was told it would get rid of the "button/screen press not registering unless you hold/press for a while." Anyways, it seems to have worked. Not 100% trouble free on that front.. anyways...
I didn't want to do any of the cooked ROMs mods yet as I'm willing to wait for the 6.1 official release. BUT I noticed 2x already I lost signal on my T-Mobile service and GPS seems to loose lock easier.
Is there a way for me to just replace the Radio: 1.27.14.09 with something else or even the original radio that I had?
I'm reading the radio FAQ and it mentions that the ROM:AT&T 1.62.502.0 (The one I dloaded) can only use 2 radios, the .09 and .07 radios. I don't see anything on what the .07 radio is or if its any better.

Thanks, that's the thread I'm trying to read/figure out right now. Lots of info. Thanks for the link for the .07.
Update: ok, read the 17pages. Ouch. my brain hurts. It seems GPS lock doesn't improve much and unless I use a cooked rom and goto a 6.1ROM with better radios, I don't think swapping the .07 will help. Does this sound about right?
Also, does Tilt really use agps? Should I disable that? I thought one of the posts said it worked better with it off..
For me, agps never really worked very well on the tilt. Also, igo and some oother gps programs don't work with it.
On a side note, there are some ROMs that would work well for you stability wise. Q-mobile 2 is a super stable 6.0 ROM. 6.1 ROMs have more problems but some of them come pretty close and do offer the newer radios like you mentioned.
The radio in my signature has given me the best gps performance of all that I have tried.

Installing Radio?

I have been flashing ROM's onto my Touch Pro for some time now and have obviously found great benefits in doing this. As I have been browsing the forums I have seen radios mentioned a lot. I have no idea how to install radio or what radio i would want on my device, is it worth me installing radio? Does it improve the speed or battery life of my phone?
Thanks in advance, I guess someone has already explained this but I haven't come across anything while searching
Currently running Energy Rom.
you flash it just as you would flash a rom, the good thing is that it doesn't erase anything from the device
Thanks for responding mate, what would I gain from flashing a radio though?
Wifi performance, telephone signal strength/call clarity, GPS connection, GPRS connection & battery life are just some things affected by radio version.
Flashing is simple & make sure you install matching rilphone.dll to Windows root folder.
Chasing the newest Radio versions does not always give best results. 1.14.25.05 is my preference at the moment.
check out radio thread link in my signature... search will bring up loads of info but you can waste a lot of time testing a good selection of radios.
Thanks mate! Exactly what i needed!
The biggest improvement is in gps reception. The original raph radios were complete garbage. Instead of waiting and praying for 30 minutes, you could get a lock in 2 minutes or so, maybe 75% of the time (without a-gps). Some of the other improvements are more subjective. Just get one of the most recent raph radios.
Actually I didn't know we can install external radio thanks I'll try to do.
