Ghetto fix for flimsy screen/keyboard - Touch Pro, Fuze General

To start off I am not responsible if you break your phone, do at you own risk.
My device list goes Wizard>8525>Tilt>Fuze. From my previous devices all had the loose Screen/Keyboard and thanks to this forum Ive found ways to correct the problem. I tried this method on my 8525 and worked like a charm so I figured I try it on my Fuze.
step 1.. Open phone then flip, take small screwdriver and very very gently make a small dent in the rail to create friction when the phone is closed. If you look inside the actual rail you will see a small tab and thats where then dent need to be on both sides. see pics

step 2..... do the same on the other side and it should look like this
Again... if you break your phone its not my problem.... not sure how this would affect warranty either.

Ouch, that was hard to watch.

You sir, have larger huevos than I.

also you may have just kissed your warranty goodbye

hello,
What exactly is the behavior before this mod? KB sliding open 2 easily? KB wiggling as it slides open? Mine seems to be smooth and solid.

Mine moves a mm or so when closed. This seems a bit too OCD for most, IMO. I figure that if I were that OCD to do this dent and scratch mod, that those dents.scratches would equally drive me nuts.
To each his/her own though. God speed to ya.

My keyboard would also slide solid but was very easy to slide open when closed compared to my tilt. Since it opens opposite to the way the tilt did it would open slightly when I put the phone to my ear.

I say there ol' chap...
that there is certainly
'Ghetto' indeed.
+2 on the huevos part...

That is not ghetto, it is just plain stupid.

I see the discussion for this thread headed nowhere good. I personally wouldn't recommend doing this, but of course it's your phone not mine. The instructions are here, but i'm gonna close this thread.

Sticky Stylus?

Ranomly, my stylus won't "slide" into the slot smoothly. It gets half way in and then a lot of pressure is required to push it all the way down. I took the battery out and used a flash light to see any obstructions, but I can't see anything. Am I missing something?
I've just started having the same problem. The stylus gets very tight in it's slot, hard to push in, and even harder to pull out.
I would love to hear if anyone has found the cause of this.

Yeah, it's a real BEYOTCH to pull out. (that's what she said)
I figured out the cause of this when it happened to me a few weeks back.
Take a look at your stylus, you will notice that the plastic end cap can/has pulled(s) away very slightly from the metal base. This, less than a millimeter change, causes it to get caught on the stylus sensor within the holster.
Solution :
Try your backup stylus and see if that slides in fine. That is what worked for me.
No amount of playing with the sensor seemed to fix it.
This happened to me my first week of having the Raphael. It was due to some build up of plastic, or bent plastic at the end of the slot. To fix it I took my stylus and kind of rotated it pushing it outwards along the sides of the stylus slot.

Humm, none of this is working for me. I'm going to try my other stylus, but I'm not sure. I took a bright flashlight and shined it down in the slot and I can't see anything stopping the sytlus from going in smoothly.
there might be the switch for the stylus come out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432014&page=2
maybe that will help?
Yeah, my stylus is getting stuck too within the first week of getting it. I can see where the sensor is supposed to come out, but it doesn't look like there is anything there, so why would it still be getting stuck?

VIDEO: Form-fitting black Silicon Case for HTC Desire - $10 - Amzer

Overall this is really great. I ordered it the day after I got my Desire, but it took 2 weeks just for it to get into production, and then another week to ship. It comes in a bunch of colors; I chose black. The fit is perfect, and all the buttons and holes line up just right. My only complaint is that I wish it were just a bit more stretchy-snug -- It's snug, but I'd like for it to have been more snug
.
ALSO:
It did not come with a carry strap, nor anchor point for one, but I made one myself and now it is secure in my hands everywhere I go. Mission accomplished. I will add pictures of that later tonight.

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention that.... They have nothing to do with the silicone case... They are separate stick ons called "egrips" -- which you can apply to any device and it creates a friction that prevents stuff from sliding out of your hand.

Prior to getting the silicone case in the mail, I needed to give myself some peace of mind to not let the Desire slip out of my hand. egrips are great... They makes them as strips you can apply where you like -- and they also make they as custom fits for an entire back of a phone...
I care a lot about aestehtics -- but I do not care about the back of my phone. I rank "NOT DROPPING MY PHONE" much much higher than "neat and tidy back side".
But, for the record, the egrips work great on the Desire back surface itself... But when I then applied them to the back of the silicon case, they don't adhere.
So, what do you think of the case?
Great video, thanks for the great review!
I wish everyone would review the products they bought the same way, with clean and alot of photos, detailed ones

We call this style the DiamondFlex at TPU-Cases, others simply call it the Diamond Pattern. This look amazing on the phone. We didnt make this style for the G2x, but have made them for numerous other phones. I've never seen a TPU case designed like the one you posted, I'm surprised its able to hold its shape with such a large cutout in the corner. I personally would of done 2 holes in that corner instead of 1. Although we ended up just using 1 hole for the power button since only the Korean model has that corner port anyways.

Yes, this hex pattern looks pretty good. This is a reason why I went for this. Moreover, it simply fits 100%. It's pretty easy to put on but it's not loose at all.
I can live with this "TV antenna" cutout though.
Wondering how this compares: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050ISVW6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=A2HOCXU5SC35JO Obviously this one is solid black, and it doesn't appear to have an antenna cutout.
I just ordered one anyway, hopefully it will work for me.

[Q] LCD Glass unsticking

I have had the nexus 5 for about 6 months now, and i'm starting to notice a part of the glass coming off. The area around the volume buttons to the center of the screen makes a sticking sound when pushed down on, and i can feel it pushing in a little bit. It's most noticeable on the edge directly next to the volume buttons. There are no visible cracks as far as i can tell. Phone works fine besides this. Should I be worried and replace the screen or just let it be? I don't notice it if i don't push down too hard.
Never had this happen to me on a phone before. Thanks!
That definitely shouldn't be happening.

It's not very visible and pictures don't show the problem.
It feels like the glue in that area is just dried up in that area and isn't holding down the screen correctly. but its only a small area so right now its not too big of a deal.

Ask for google support, they will replace it. Mine was losing the back cover letters and google replaced it
Hi all. Wasn't sure if I should reply to this old thread or start my own...
I have a Nexus 5 that's over 2 years old. So no warranty. It looks like my screen is starting to come off in the bottom right corner. I think it's just the glass. Take a look at the attached pic/video and let me know what you think I could/should do. You can see I can move it by pressing on it.

It works fine otherwise. Touch/display etc seems all fine. I don't care about this problem if it stays as-is, but I'm worried it will get worse and come off further.
I'm thinking a bit of super glue would do? .
Thinking the sameā€¦

Nillkin Flip Case with "Smart Window"

Not so "Smart". It's just a cutout so that you can see the clock in the lockscreen and maybe the phone number when someone calls you, but only that. I have one, and the only thing I don't like are the cutouts for the buttons, they are not well placed. I prefer having a silicon flip cover instead of this one
So I found an alternative with cutout

Well, that looks quite better, but still hard plastic case, the buttons in the right side are hard to press, just like in the Nillkin XD
If there would be something like this, but with a cover over it... LOL

maybe there as app for that that could concentrate important concent into the small window. but anyways, windowed cases are utterly pointless on non-AMOLED screens

Absolutely correct. In the M2, all the LCD goes ON, not like in AMOLED, where 0 equals fully off pixel. However, just to check what time is it, or who is calling you is nice, and the screen is protected..
