Dear all,
Can anyone help me that I have installed ifonz to my htc touch newly. But somehow it doesn't work. After installation when I try to tap on the ifonz icon in programs, I'm getting this message
"This application requires a newer version of the Microsof .NET compact framework than the version installed on this device"
so I downloaded the .net framework 3.5 and copied to my storage card. After when I tap on NETCFSetupv35.msi, I'm getting the following message
"There is no application associated with "NETCFSetupv35". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application"
So, if I run the application I'm getting the first message, now this message, how can I solve this problem?
Thanks
sj
any one, please help me on this....
You probably downloaded the exe version of the .net compact framework. You will need to install this through your desktop computer. Meaning you need to connect your device to pc via Activesync and then run the msi file on your pc. It should install this on your device automatically.
Refer to thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405258
Let me know how it works.
HTC elf
I have downloaded the ifonz on my htc elf qvga but the visual is too big.
Can anyone help me out on it or perhaps provide the application itself???

Did you download the qvga version ? Or the vga , wvga version which would make the visual too big.

Since upgrading to AS 4.5, I can no longer install applications on my htc Touch.
The error message reads:
"Application Manager cannot intall this application on your mobile device due to an error in the setup file. Reinstall and try again"
Happens with all .exe files and I have re-installed AS4.5 several times and tried "Repair".
Don't think it's an issue with programs that weren't designed for WM6 because I can't install the Sprite and spbGPRS programs from the htcTouch CD
I'm running XP Home SP2 and log on with Administrator privilages
The files install OK on my work PC which runs XP2 Prof SP2 with no Administrator privilages.
Any ideas anybody?

Been there, done that
no answers anywhere I can see.
The Microsoft site only applies to specific programs, like the Media Player one you pointed to or Powerpoint.
Only thing I can find is possibly the .ini file doesn't have the correct version notation for instance it states version 1 instead of version 1.0
That still doesn't explain why they all install on the PC at work though.
Both PCs running AS4.5, both running Windows XP
i dont really thing activesycn is good at cleaning up after itself when reinstalled and or uninstalled
i've seen lots of files in it's dir
and lots of registrys it leave behind
a good cause would go and hunt them down and make sure
that a reinstall is really a reinstall
I downloaded .net framework 3.5 to my htc touch so I can run the advanced configuration .exe that I found on touchxperience. When I tried to install the .net framework 3.5 the error msg said it was not a pocket pc application. I used the activesync through my pc, the .net framework 3.5 downloaded to my pc and the htc touch, it just wouldn't let me install. also, the advanced configuration error msg states that the htc touchs' .net 2.0 is not sufficient to install the utility.
Run the exe from your desktop pc not through your device
as corpse said already you have to run the exe from your computer.
Setup exe are run from the computer and your computer copies a cab file to your ppc (through activesync) and installs it on your ppc.
netcf runtimes
do u guys have a ready .cab file of netcf runtime. i cant use activesync on my vista pc and i cant use also the built in activesync of vista. it only sync using media player. it was not detected when i install the software
Please install first WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE CENTER - that is the VISTA VERSION of ACTIVE SYNC.
Afterwards download the .NET COMPACT FRAMEWORK 3.5 REDISTRIBUTABLE from this link - READ THE INSTRUCTIONS in the OVERVIEW SECTION on that page carefully !!!
You can download the cab for net cf 3.5 here

I lost the ability to go online after updating to 3.5 .NET!
canybody point me to a fix? I cant find one, without restoring to original .NET.
I have t the ATT TILT w/ WM6.
I tried the 6.1 update but it has too many bugs for me.
I've got a Vogue with Sprint running the official 6.1 OS.
Lately I've been having issues running certain apps. The new Facebook app and ComicReader 1.5.2 are the latest examples. Launching the application gets me this error message:
The application failed to load required components. If the .NET Compact Framework is installed on a storage card, please ensure that this card is in place and launch the application again. If this fails, a re-installation of the .NET Compact Framework is recommended. Support info: -2147479552 (80001000).
I have uninstalled .NET CF 3.5 through Remove Programs, but when I try to re-install, the device gives me the message:
The .NET Compact Framework version you are attempting to install already exists in ROM.
Then the installer exits.
Any thoughts on how I can get this fixed?
When you install the .net compact framework it sets a registry setting saying it is enabled and i think this is that it looks for when trying to install.
Try deleting this from the registry:
"\local machine\software\microsoft\netcompactframework"
after deleting, reinstall

Well, it sort of did the trick. It worked for the two apps mentioned (facebook and comicreader) but now fails with the same error message when I try to launch FSD dialer which I just downloaded and re-installed.
sigh
~~Update: I've also discovered that I get 4 of these errors pop up on a soft reset now. I have no idea what's throwing them because so far I haven't noticed any startup items that do not work. It could be a latency issue I suppose, but I did install .NET on the device, not a storage card.
Well this is getting serious. I've uninstalled and reinstalled .NET but it's not helping. Although some programs that didn't work now do, several others like GWatch, GAlarm, DiamondTV, PianoNM, and a notepad application now do not work, and I get the same error. I find two of these missing component errors on the phone every morning, and four of them on every soft reset.
Please someone tell me I'm not looking at a hard reset...

Try this:
There is a Compact Framework 3.5 powertoy named '.Net Configuration' (see cab below). The application provides control over the .net CF on your device. Here's what you do:
- Install the CAB below (to internal memory!)
- Run '.Net Configuration' from your Start Menu
- Navigate to the 'Device Policy' tab and select version 3.5
- Select 'Apply' then 'OK'
This has worked for other issues like yours.
Yay! All better now. Thanks!
If you have problems after that config it may be your rom. Some roms have registry settings built into them and restorethem on a softreset.... just a heads up
i was having the same problem with proven 1.12 rom for touch pro and following your above advised solved the problem.
Thanks Joel once again.
Run \Windows\cgacutil.exe on your device and it will pop up a window that lists the version(s) of the .NET CF installed on your device. I assume it stands for CompactGlobalAssemblyCacheUtility, and probably reads the stuff straight out of the registry. Easier than hacking about in the there anyway.
cannot install .netconfig

I've just installed it on my Leo with no result...
Taping on Select& Delete lock screen on the S'Skin Settings screen shows you a .NET error with the following description: ... IndexOutOfRangeException in ...:temp_lockscreenEvent()
By the way the human (YelowMan) theme contains the file human.swf (Flash).
My Leo cannot play Flash. And I've installed the latest (official) .NET (3.5).
Any ideas to make YellowMan work?

The easiest way i found to install it was on the Windows Marketplace...some game called "Hunting Lite"...Click to download and it and it should install NF 3.5 first if you haven't allready got it!
Should be no problem to install it with the cab file.
What happens when you run the cab?
Is there a way to check if I have the 3.5 framework? Under microsoft folder there is .netframework folder and it says 3.5.9198.00. is that is? I installed the Hunting Lite game like The_69_Eyes suggested, but I want to make sure it's there.

go to startmenu>Settings>System>Remove Programs
look in the list for .netcf 3.5
or
The best end-user method to detect the .Net CF version on your device is using “cgacutil.exe”. You can find this app using a file explorer in the “\Windows” folder on your device. Running “cgacutil.exe” you’ll see the .Net CF versions installed on your device (i.e. a message showing [3.5.7121.0, 2.0.7045.0] means your device have .Net CF 3.5 Beta 2 and 2.0 SP2). If you cannot find “cgautil.exe” on your device, .Net CF is not installed.
yea gonna come back to this one
I've just install compact 3.5 on the PC and have taken the cab file out of the PC directory and install to my HD2 though this version is an old one, its not version 3.5.9198.00. Before people ask i have tried searching for 3.5.9198.00 and can't find it anywhere, can anyone post the newer version in a cab form?
