Data connection turns on when using GPS - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi.
I finally got my tomtom 7 to work on Fuze, but the problem is that everytime I access GPS test program or the actual tomtom both of these programs turn on my data connection. I dont know what to do, I've downloaded NOGPRS.cab that lets me turn off the data connection, but still it did not work. Everytime I turn on my tomtom or GPS test and exit it right away (or later) it shows that my data connection is on. I am not sure if I'm actually transfering any data, but still it is very suspicious. I am not buying a pda package because everywhere I go i have wifi. So does anyone have same problems/solutions? Or is there any other way to completely turn off data?

Do you have agps turned on? It might be turning on the data connection to check for updates on the quickgps program?

I checked through advanced conf tool and agps is turned on, but it says it helps in areas with bad receptions... Do you know if agps works of cell towers or something else?

Problem with GPS on Fuze

My problem is not the lag or connecting. But its staying connected. I use quick gps, then gps test, then I start up my gps program. I use TomTom, Garmin XT, and tested out google maps. When I connect the gps will work then it drops signal and garmin say lost gps signal. I have turned on gps test and all other programs off to see what happens and it drops signal and says looking for gps unit. Then it starts and drops. I tried soft reset and it happened again. I'm still messing with it to see if I can figure it out or if it is the phone. Does anyone know if there is some kind of software conflict or if something is causing the error. I have tried the gps programs with my bluetooth gps unit I use to use on my 8525 and it worked great. I really want to get this GPS working and be a little more reliable because this is one of the main reasons why I bought this phone.
AGPS is disabled?
No agps is enabled
Does anyone have any idea why this is occurring or anything I can try. I have updated to the latest garmin but it still doesn't work properly. I can connect sometimes and use the gps. But when trying to reconnect it gets satellites then drops them. On gps test it shows 3d like 8 satellite bars and saying starting gps then losses everything and says looking for gps then does the samething again over and over.
I still have a lag problem but:
Check that AGPS is off (Adv.Config. 3.3 is your friend)
Set polling through the COM interface to a lower speed (4800/9600/19200 max.)
Use GPS test
GO OUTSIDE
WAIT
I got lock with ANY radio though it may have taken up to 5 mins.
I get a lock but then it will lose signal. Or if I turn the gps off and try and lock on later it keeps cycling between looking for gps and gps starting but doesn't go to gps running just goes back to looking for gps
I have the same exact problem. Gps test will connect, then quickly lose connection. Tomtom and garmin will get a signal for a few seconds and then lose connection. This is all outside with a clear view of the sky. I've tried two different fuze's with multiple roms and radios and the problem is still there. I finally got fed up and went back to my e71. This is ridiculous in a $500 phone..
I was thinking about returning it but I did a search and I noticed this is a common problem. I thought it was mainly lag but I see there are several problems with this gps. That sucks because I was really looking forward to the internal gps coming from the 8525/herms. If I really need to get somewere I sill have to carry my bluetooth gps reciever. I 'm going to try some of the tweaks people have suggested and see if it helps.
I haven't used my GPS a ton, but the little I have, it has worked, as long as I am in the car or outside. When I am in the house, it rarely finds a signal. I think that the GPS radio is pretty weak, though generally you don't need GPS when inside of a building.

You mean NO lag?
Isn't GPSLOG = 0 disabling logging? BTW I also changed the registry using adv.cfg. to go to the SD card, not device

Data Connection greyed out in Comm Manager

I have Gonzo's version running on my Vox.
I would like to disable the data connection when I am out of my service area, so I go into the comm manager, and click on it to disable it.
It will then move the radio button to off, but then the whole "Data Connection" section gets greyed out. I can not click on it anymore. After about 5 minutes, if i go back into the comm manager, the data connection is back on and the section is no longer greyed out.
Any help with what is going on here would be much appreciated!
Thanks.
Seems like some software on your phone is turning it back on again.
Try using NoData.
open RSS Hub - open Settings and change Auto Download to never.
Hello. I have the same problem (data connection grey/inactive), although I never turned of the radio. I have tried rss hub/menu/options/autoupdate/noautoupdate and also tried NoData but it doesn't initiate (an error of some kind).
But he big problem is that ActiveSync refuses to conect to the Vox and i hoped that fixing Data Connection would get rid of the problem. I would very much appreciate any useful input. Thx
There's an option in ActiveSync's connectionproperties to Allow wireless connections when connected to the desktop computer.
Nodata did it's job. I no longer download any e-mail or get internet access. However, it made my phone pretty sluggish, and I still received MMS messages (which are downloaded via my data connection). Is there any way to stop these as well?
I also made the suggested change in RSS hub. However, when I tuned off data connection in the comm manager, I had the same result: The data connection turns off when i click on it, but anytime thereafter the data connection option is greyed out... I can't turn it ON or off.... which is obviously a problem? -- Any suggestions for this? -- This is happening indefinitely now. It no longer appears as an option, leaving me permanently without a data connection
Also, is there another version of the comm manager buried somewhere on my phone. I seem to remember it looking differently before. I'm currently accessing it via the power button, then (5)Comm Manager.
Thanks again!
In no data disable each and every data connection in the list. That should stop mms download. BTW which of Gonzo's ROM are you using, had you specified that would have helped since not long time back, Dr. G used to give us one great ROM after another. If its WM 6 ROM, then may be you should switch to 6.1 ROM since it is much faster.
Ah, sorry, I have the last release that he did (6.1).
The only connection in nodata is my GPRS connection. I use this connection for both internet and MMS. Although, disabling it only disabled internet usage, and I still get MMS messages. Very strange.

How do i setup the WiFi to go on automatically the same way 3G/GPRS does

What i'd like to do it to setup the WiFi as my primary connection, something the connections manager wouldn't allow me to do. I want it to try & bring up the WiFi connection instead of attempting to bring up the 3G when a program attempts to access the internet. Also, i'd like it to bring it back down after some inactivity timeout.
I've searched the forum, and googled the internet in general, and found multitudes of threads, but none gets any close to the solution. Isn't there some way to setup a fake modem or something, configure a fake connection on it in the connections manager, and turn the WiFi on inside the fake modem program on connection attempt ? Or some other way to cheat the system so it threats WiFi connection same way it threats other connections in connection establishin aspect ?
Well, any ideas ?
try using g-profile from ageye as you can set applciations to use a wifi then when they close to go back -> turning off the wifi connection.
I know this doesnt fully solve the problem but it may solve part of it at least until a full solution is found

[Q] Losing data connection on GPS

Hello all,
I'm having this problem with my HTC Desire S.
Everytime I start an app that uses my GPS, and tries to get a fix. Like maps, runkeeper or GPS Status. I lose my data connection.
I can go to my settings then. And in my settings its still turned on, but I dont have the little icon on top, neither do I have an internet connection.
I can turn off my data connection then, en turn it back on. And then it reconnects again, and both my GPS and data connection are working.
Untill I exit the app that uses my gps, and if after an hour or so I use my GPS again, the problem repeats itself.
Anyone else had this problem and / or know a fix for it?
I've used the search, but nothing came up.
Hello,
I had the same problem but it resolved with GPS TEST application from market.
Turn on GPS and mobiile network then run app Gps Test and from settings menu clear a-gps then update Gps and wait to lock gps to satellites.
After that you can use some navigation software such iGO, Sygic .. and so ..
I solved my problem with this way.

Switching between WLAN & WWAN?

so I am curious if anyone has run into this issue (or if it's not an issue and rather it's just the way the phone behaves, perhaps someone can tell me if there is a workaround in settings?):
it seems to me that turning wifi on doesn't always make wifi the active connection. it's intermittent, but it appears to happen frequently.
I found out because I started to download some stuff out of my audiogalaxy collection (which REQUIRES wifi, it doesn't let you do it on mobile data) and it kept telling me to enable wifi to continue downloading.
speed tests confirmed that I was on mobile data, not wifi... even though wifi was turned on and connected.
I've also noticed that occasionally, you'll turn wifi on and it won't replace the mobile data icon... I imagine it's all related.
any of you guys encountering this or should I go get myself a replacement?
