how to remove, vistaHide Battery Gauge? - General Questions and Answers

hi, how do i remove vistaHide Battery Gauge? or disable it from start up?
i already deleted it from start up but it still comes back.
also, how do i remove HTC album and audio?
it was also cooked into the rom.
Thanks

You can't remove HTC audio and album if they're in your rom. you can flash a rom without them.
About VistaGauge.. something doesn't add up there. the app doesn't have a startup option, the only way to launch it is thru startup.. check if there's another link linking to it in your startup folder.. maybe a link named otherwise.

i don't see anything there except services.

Are you sure it's vistagauge?
maybe... batty?

yes it is, thats what i saw in the startup. and i removed it from the start up.
but it's still showing up after a reset.
I guess i can live with it.
Thanks

Questions About Installing a Theme

I'm extremely new to tweaking around with my fuze and I was wanting to install a theme found here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512584
But what I'm concerned about is if I don't like it, can I go back to the old AT&T default theme with no troubles? And if so, how?
Okay scratch that, I try to install the theme but only some of it works. I don't know if I have the right ROMs or not but it says to flash it to a certain ROM. And instead of that theme I decided to go with this one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492274
Can someone give me a little walk through on how to do this successfully? It'd be VERY helpful if someone walked me through on how to get this theme to work. It seems that when I install them only bits and pieces of them work.
Any help??

What rom are you using?
I'm using HTC's most recent update for their ROM (5.11.502.2 WWE)
C'mon someone please help me with this.
you can go to the diamond forums, or stay here in the raphael forums and look at several themes to your choosing....and instructions for the themes are normally provided.
Any time you install a theme you can always uninstall it by going into the "remove programs" section of the phone or performing a hard reset. If you are just talking about the wallpaper, it automaticaly asks you if you want to use the stock one when you go to change it. Hopefully this helps!
No what I'm saying is when I install that theme only bits and pieces work. Like the clock for it doesn't work correctly and the task bar and the slider bar don't change.
Maybe it might be because you have other specific custom clocks etc installed and it overrides the ones you have in the theme? In that case you may need to uninstall the other custom ones first. Just a hunch, I don't know if thats the case for sure.

No because I haven't installed anything like that. The only things I've installed are Advanced Config, PHM Reg Edit, Google Maps, Skype, and Skyfire. Nothing else other than the update for HTC.
Would it be because of the ROM maybe?

[MOD] MAKE YOUR OWN THEME!! Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen

let me start of by saying I TAKE NO CREDIT for any of this... only think i did was discover this amazing thread.. (i've know about it for a quite a while now, but don't know why i hadn't decided on posting this here)
im only posting this thread here because not a lot of people in the cdma hero community know about this... and yes this should work with YOUR ROM, whatever that is you have.. seems to be pretty universal now...
here is the link to the main thread, with all credits going to the guys in the desire forum:

I tried it, but all my gapps were continuously FCing so I had to nandroid back. I might try it again without notification settings (I only did part of those, so maybe that screwed it up).

are u installing this over a current theme?? are u adding any transparencies in the notification bar? what rom are u using? i've had the gapps FC before with this, but got everything worked out to where everything works perfect now..
I'm guessing CM 6 comes with a theme.. so I'm gonna say yes. I didn't make anything transparent, but I only did settings for part of the notification window.
What sucks now is that I nandroided back to a backup I made earlier today and it made everything like I just flashed CM 6 but LauncherPro kept FCing.. trying to nandroid again. :\
Edit: Can I choose sense icons without having a sense rom? If not, that's probably my problem.

sense icons are fine... i've used them before..
try this, flash cm6 again (do not wipe) just flash the same one ur using again.. then flash ur theme u made.. (do not flash gapps again).. then reboot
If I remember that kitchen gave me issues a whole back with the rs folders... open your apk and look in the res folder check to see if v4 was appended to any of the drawable folders, if so delete the v4 part in the name and resign it.

Confirmed working on CM6RC1... Although not much in the way of theaming very limited but cool non the same. Very easy to use even for the beginner. What it changes should be pretty universal as long as you pay attention and choose the correct android version.

I'll try this when I get my new sdcard in the mail. Not much room to work with right now and I don't need my apps all messed up again if it doesn't work. Just gotta remember to take my WoW Authenticator off my account before messing with it, two hours on hold was not fun this morning!

I don't even know how to open an apk..
Used this to get the circle battery with CM 6.1 RC1, my only issue is that now it displays a big "Roaming Indicator On" on my lockscreen (where the "Sprint" would usually be), and the roaming triangle is showing up in the taskbar (even though I'm like 98% sure I'm NOT roaming). Anyone have a suggestion of how to get rid of this? Maybe something I did in the process of cooking up the zip? All I want is the stock CM6 pulldown/notification bar with the circle battery, and also have the option to turn off the power control widget in the pulldown.

It worked. If anyone has the same issue, make sure you pull the framework-res.apk from your ROM and upload it when it asks you to.
Sprint said no Froyo for Hero, I said eff that.

I've been toying around with it today, trying to do a couple header and footer tweaks the easy way! But everytime I've gotten to the end I choose my file to upload. It just sits there, won't let me hit next, and don't see an actual upload button. Oh well, I'll find another way to tweak up aospMOD.
EDIT: Firefox issues.

The issue comes from, I believe the ROM loaded on the site is actually from a GSM, so yeah, uploading the one right from your ROM works wonders.
So finally after reading page 2 of this I got it to work, lol. I was using the framework from the site, once I uploaded mine it worked! Although I chose to change my icons and that didnt happen, anyone else get this problem? Not to big of deal, the main thing I wanted was circle battery

sometimes its easy to overlook a unticked box... once you've generated the icons you need to make sure that you have checked off that section.. its easy to forget to tick a box that you already generated, i've done it numerous times

I did it again and this time I checked the "include icons" and chose G4 blue sense 3D. Again they didnt show up This time what happened was my icons that were blue tinted (running Extremely Blue) turned white. Same stock icons, just white instead of the blue tinted ones. Can I use the sense icons?
Thanks
If it makes a difference I also selected the white notification bar icons as well, H1 DeFrost.
That was it, only chose the G4 blue sense 3D this time and it worked perfect! Now I need to do it again as there are a few I dont care for and would rather have my blue tinted ones, like signal bars
Now I got it looking BAD-A$$!!
Question,
When attempting to modify the Status bar notification I dont get to see the progress I am making. It looks like the Kitchen is supposed to let me see what each mod will look like as I change things, shouldnt that checkered area to the right of status bar mod settings show a preview of what I a doing, while I do it?
EDIT>>>>> Nevermind, I found to click generate at the bottom of page
Thanks
Alright so I redid my phone last night (starting from scratch when I know a little more about this stuff is good ) and tried this again, got the circle battery mod and the status bar icons and it works great!
If it helps anyone, I uploaded my framework this time instead of choosing from the list.

Power down and music

I have two questions :
Can you replace to default music image I would rather have a beats music image. And how?
Second question, I'm using arhd, I haven't flashed anything I just super wiped it today because of the probably I've been having, the problem is that when I choose to turn it off, it would turn on right after. Like I restarted it.... How do I fix
bump
Do you mean icon or the image displayed when you have a lack of album art?
For an icon, use Desktop Visualizer on the market. It'll let you make a custom shortcut where you can specify a beats icon.
For the album art placeholder, you'll have to depackage the APK, find the image, replace it, repackage it, sign it, and reinstall it. More trouble than it's worth really but if you know what you're doing, it can be done in 20 minutes.
thats alot of work, LOL is there a youtube video for this? because i dont even know whats the process called

Alter Cyanogen mod Settings

Hey everyone,
i have removed apps that i don't think i will ever use, E.G themes, and would like to alter the Cyanogen mod Settings to remove the entires that are no longer needed, as i have never done this before, i will most likely need to be helped step by step, or if you have a link to a guide already made that will be great
This is probably more involved that you would like to go.
That is part of "ROM" itself and can't be removed like a apk in system app.
Do you want to remove it from the source and compile it yourself? Think that is the way you have to go to accomplish what you want. Maybe it can be edited out in the ROM.zip prior to flash but I don't know
dam, i hoped it would be simple, i may have to re-compile it as you say, cause since i removed themes, it obliviously crashes if i accidentally hit the theme button in settings, i'll go looking to see if i can find something relating to that, thanks

Hi,
You can always just try a launcher that allows u to hide the apps u do not want to use....
And you can also disable some of those hidden apps under "manage applications" but be careful since some of the main apps are used by other system apps like gallery, email, etc. I just hide them and its like they do not exist.
This way if a force close happens due that app being disabled u can always reenable it so it fixed the force closures.
Or find a ROM that slim/minimal so u dont have worry about those apks in the first place.
Good luck

He is actually referring to the stuff in the settings menu.
So when he deletes the theme manager apk for example it also disappears from the settings.
At least that's what I think he is talking about.

After reading the post again..
I believe ur correct since it seemed to easy of a question to ask and answer.
But I just wonder why those settings are even a bother to the phone or its performance.

Minimalist approach. I can see how it can annoy somebody very easily.
Decompile and edit the smali files which is a huge pain in the ass or do it from source, those are generally your only 2 options. I did it for my GS2, it's much, MUCH, easier to do it from source. Understanding smali makes me want to rip my hair out. Stick to the source, haha trust me.
Try your luck. Here are some resources to help you out.

Look for something called dex2jar, it'll convert the classes.dex in an apk file to a jar which you'll be able to read/understand with jd-gui.

[Q] UCCW is getting buggy for my all of a sudden...

I'm trying to incorporate images into some widgets, but the app, as of yesterday, keeps bogging down as soon as I try to load one. I'll click the image I want then it goes back to UCCW and nothing happens. The generic image icon still remains, I can click to switch between objects, but it won't actually switch. What could be causing this? I downloaded a bunch of fonts a few nights ago, but the app was working fine up until yesterday. The app works just fine so long as I don't attempt to import an image file. If anyone has an idea, please let me know. I'm working on a huge project.
