Maybe this solution should work for my needs...
Anyway.. How can I do that?

look into shell programming access using c++ and win32
msdn and codeguru would be good places to start to look
for code examples and the likes

Do you know any existing app which does what I need?

You could try ftouchSL (unfortunately, it's not free - but then again, not very expensive) - it doesn't really add an icon, but instead has a "active corner feature" - when you hold your stylus/finger in one of the screen corners for a given time period, it can launch a program or perform some system action (rotate screen, hibernate, etc). Active corners can work system-wide, but some aplications can be excluded from them, or even have different active corner actions. Besides, this program adds finger scrolling and ability to use gestures to launch apps and actions (all of these can be system-wide or defined on per-application basis).

Thanks for your answer...
Is there any other possibility?

Maybe you should search for a skin WAD related to have app launching easier.
or use Ultimate Launch..

Looking for: SPB MenuLauncher freebie clone

I am looking for some freebie software that will launch a large icon style menu... for an example:
SPB Mobile Shell replaces the left softkey with it's own menulauncher.exe file - which brings up a 3x3 icon screen - giving you 9 spots to fill in whatever app you want to open...
I want to assign this program using Wisbar Adv 3 - to the right softkey... so I can easily hit the softkey with my thumb and get huge icons to bring up my most commonly used appz with the touch of my thumb - quickly and easily... I do NOT want it to be on my TODAY page.... I perfer the clean look on the today page and have all the plugins there that I care for... I just want a menu to pop up that I can control with my thumb easily... I got a program called "Saman WM5NewMenu" which is CLOSE - but it isn't easily clickable by thumb.... doable, but not easy, nor does it have icons, etc...
Anyone else found this desire and have a solution? Help is always appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

[REQ] top-down, down-top sliding app

I am still using UltimateLaunch even with all these new UI's out there for the customization abilities and small footprint (only have 64mb on the i760). I am looking for someone to develop an application that I can launch using the gestures feature of UL. The application(s) would slide in from the top or bottom to reveal a quicklauncher, task manager, etc. This would be similar to Android. If anyone could develop this or if there is one out there that I am missing, please let me know.
erm have you tried FtouchSL ?
it 's just what you need
I've been thinking of doing something like this for a while with icon based panes.

Hey ather,
I don't think that is what he is talking about. Keep in mind that UL does have gesture support, so it isn't about the gesture itself, but rather a program (possibly with a nice transition animation) that can attach to UL as some sort of an addon (like he said, think of the Android launcher menu).
@joshrys
what you could do is to install Slither's cube. It can be easily installed and has a very smooth transition effect. Just associate the Up-Down/Down-Up with UL and you should end up with a nice interface. Just my two cents...
ah sorry my bad, didnt read the whole thing properly, he wanted to use the UL's gestures
Thanks for the suggestions, i currently have IE set to launch with a down swipe and the comm manager with the up swipe, I am just looking for an app that will slide down and up with the swipes for launching things. FTouch is a great program, i have used the trial before, but not necesarrily what I'm looking for. UL is great, the up/down is just about the only thing I think it's lacking. it goes left/right, why not up/down?
Have you tried MortButtons? You can configure it to do what you want and it has a task manager and it's skinnable.

Let me see if I understood correctly... you are basically asking for UL to behave like a cube (not the Touch cube, but an actual six-sided cube [maybe even more sides]). I have waited for something like that for the longest time. The Touch cube (Slither's, Byka, etc) has been the closest thing I have seen to my "dream". However, just like UL, there is no Up-Down/Down-Up swipe launchers.
It would be nice to have something like that without having to install multiple apps to get the wanted effect(s).
I guess if the programmer of UL can release his code, it might be easy to modify in such a way as to adapt the missing swipe functions....
Is there anyone that is willing to give this a shot? (I cannot program if my life depended on it )

[Q] Scroll slider?

Hi,
I tried to search on this forum but with no success if is there any application/mod that changes the look of the standard windows mobile scroll slider? or better have them disapper?
Thanks.
i am searching for something like that too!
If you're talking about the scroll bar on the side, there is a registry key that tells how wide you want it. You can make it really thin, or wide. There is also FtouchSL that enables finger scrolling in all apps.

I was looking to skin it too but being able to hide it will at least not show that ugly shape. Do you please have more infos on the registry key?
Thanks.
found it, thanks
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE]
cyHScr=13 - Default height of horizontal scrollbar
cxVScr=13 - Default width of vertical scrollbar
You can download Schaps Advanced config. Its a tool that allows you to easily make these changes. Just launch the app-->go to user interface-->vertical scrollbar width. Set it to 0 pixels = no scroll bar. Ditto for the horizontal scroll bar.
Now if only I knew how you guys plan on scrolling through the screen without a scrollbar...lol
i strongly suggest NOT to hide your scroll slider unless you have a backup of your system.
not all apps support touch scrolling and you might get stuck.

Application shortcuts on today screen

Is there a simple way of creating application shortcuts to appear on your today screen without having to click on the windows start menu to find it?
I have searched the forum & found many similar questions but they all seem so complicated.
All I need to do is create a shortcut for an application that normally fires up when the phone is switched on but I need the ability to have quick access to the shortcut incase the app is ever accidently closed down.
This app should always be on as well as the data connection to which i also need a shortcut for.
So the COMM MANAGER icon as a shortcut for quick access would be needed to enable a quicker start to Data connection if offline for some reason
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Yes. Go to Start/Settings/Today/Items tab where you can select what you want. At least I can do it on Touch 3G (Jade).

Yes thanks but that's not what I mean, I have already tried but found that you have limited choice to what you can add. I need to add other items that are not included in th items tab.
Try this...
It's a simple shortcut creator for the today screen - sounds like just what you're after.
I use this and have had no problems with it.

Thanks for that, it does look like exactly what i need but for some reason it does not work on my O2 XDA Mantle and the Samsung Omnia, both using Windows mobile 6.1
I get the same problem on both phones where after instalation the app does not appear in start menu or in programme files.
I have selected "Easy today Launcher" in the items tab of the today screen but nothing appears to allow you to use the software
I'm on WM6.1 on a Sony Xperia and its fine.
Did you add any icons to it?
It doesn't appear in programme files or programmes - just in Today settings.
Go to Settings->Today->Items.
Make sure the box is ticked next to 'Easy Today Launcher'.
Select 'Easy Today Launcher' so thats its highlighted gry, then click options. Use add to add a new application to the bar, remove to remove ones you don't want, and up and down to chane the order. You can also select whether you want large or small items in the options screen.

Doh!!
That's it thanks
It now works
I found another app called SBSH iLauncher but it's not free
it allows shorcuts to documents which is something else I need, it doesn't look line Easy today Launcher can do this as it only creates shortcuts to applications.
thanks for your time.

List of open apps as icons in bottom bar

Hello my fellow tf700 users,
I find it really annoying to have to open the recent apps list to see what i have open. I have gestures set up that allow me to swipe from the bezels to switch bw apps, however, I am curious if anyone knows of a tweak/app that would simply list open apps as icons in the bottom bar to the left of the clock. kind of like the taskbar in windows (never thought id say that), yet I dont want them to be interactive or anything (simply grey icons like the storage/KB dock icons). I find opening the recent apps list to check what is open incedibly redundant as I already have gestures that allow me to quickly swipe to switch apps. This may seem trivial, however, this is my primary device, and workflow is very important to me for school. I am simply trying to limit the number of gestures I have to initiate to get **** done.
Best,
Lucius
To me, it sounds like you want the VivoTab -- indeed, Windows-based.
Sent from a comfortable chair from the outer ring of Purgatory. The red guy asked me to say 'hi'.
Hmm I took don't really see the need. Google put the recent apps there for a reason. It's a single click away and includes swipe to close. How does moving it to the notification bar make it any simpler?
BTW prepare yourself as the 4.2.x update will really annoy you as notifications are now in a split bar up the top wasting screen space.

I dont use the recent apps list to switch apps, i use 1 gesture to do so. the recent apps list forces me to tap it, find the app, then tap the app. doing more than 1 gesture breaks my train of thought when im switching between a pdf im reading and evernote where im taking notes. with my gesture i swipe from the bezel and it switches instantaneously fwd/bckwd between apps. I would like to be able to see what i have open so i dont need to open the recent apps list, as sometimes i forget. It doesnt seem like a big deal but workflow is huge for me.
Ive seen 4.2 and it looks terrible, we are deffinitely on the same page. please avoid includig it in later versions of CROMI unless necessary lol.
That's exactly why I use a floating notepad - take notes without having to switch apps, and paste then into another app when I'm done...
