Srs Wow HD Thru AD2P - General Questions and Answers

The other day I was going through one of the cab corners and saw a cab that enables wow hd thru ad2p.I was reluctant to try it at that time but now im lookin for it.Anyone have an idea which cab collection it's in,as I tried searching through a few and even using forum search with no luck.
thanks!

Don't know about the CAB, but you can do it by modifying registry.
Just go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd
find key named "Dll" (it's value should be "bta2dp.dll")
rename it to "OldDriver"
Then add a new string key named "Dll" with value "WOWHD_ARM_WCE_PPC2005_Driver.dll".
So before modifications, you should have:
"Dll" = "bta2dp.dll"
And after modifications, you should instead have these keys:
"Dll" = "WOWHD_ARM_WCE_PPC2005_Driver.dll"
"OldDriver" = "bta2dp.dll"
Soft reset, and you're done.
If you want to revert to previous settings, just delete the "Dll" key and rename "OldDriver" to "Dll"

WM6 underground Edition: messaging option on bottom left change delete->new

I saw someone mentioned this in another thread, and it was difficult searching for a solution. I did a search and it's difficult searching through the post when your key words are WM6 new delete messaging. On the text messaging section on bottom left, they have the option delete when I remember back in WM5, they have it as a new option. Does anyone know of a fix?
Ya i just saw that today. I mean what the hell were they thinking! people wright new messages more then delete them. Please help fix. this is killing me!
I think people delete messages more than they create. This change is actually pretty nice. You can new a message from today screen using the wm5NEW.
In messaging, clicking right softkeys, followed by action key also can new a message quickly.
Welcome to WM6.
I used the tnsms.exe option where you fix the left softkey(labelled NewSMS) to call it. This reduces to just one key press to start a new sms. The right softkey I left it for Saman's WM5NewMenu for other less accessed stuff.
I don't suggest you to use softkey software
It will let your ppc screen freeze some times.
To change the application launched by the Today screen Left soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "\Windows\Calendar.exe" (REG_SZ string, including quotes)
To change the title of the Left soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\(Default) = "Calendar" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
To change the application launched by the Today screen Right soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113\Open = "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Contacts.lnk" (REG_SZ string, including quotes)
To change the title of the Right soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113\(Default) = "Contacts" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
So..
If you wnna change the left softkey to NewSMS,
you need copy tnsms.exe to windows (WM6 not include it)
then use registry edit to change:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "\Windows\tnsms.exe" (REG_SZ string, including quotes)
To change the title of the Left soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\(Default) = "New SMS" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
I believe they are talking about changing it in the actual SMS app, not on the today screen.

Sliding keyboard sound?

Is there a way to ad more sounds to "sliding keyboard open and close" sound
and if there are were to put them?
Well, the default sounds are located in \Windows and called 0_in, 0_out, etc. Dunno how to identify them or if there are any specifics needed for these files, but why not try making a new set of in/out-files in that dir?
There's also a set of registry keys & values under HKLM\Software\HTC\SlidingSound. You can add other subkeys to expand the droplist, so you don't have to modify existing entries.
Just create a new subkey and set string values:
Default -- set this to the name you want to show up in the droplist
in -- set this to the name of the wav file you want to play when closing the slider
out -- set this to the name of the wav file you want to play when opening the slider.
Once you've made these reg entries, copy the wav files to the Windows directory & cycle power to ensure the reg entries get flushed. When you power back on, you should have the new entries in the drop list and all should be well.
This is GREAT! Thanks!
http://rapidshare.com/files/79748184/SH4Y_Sliding_Sounds_Configure.cab
This is a cab i made... all you have to do is place custom-in and custom-out.wav in the /windows folder for your own custom sounds..
works great took some time but it worked.
if your still lost i can try to help you out mind you i have the at&t tilt don't know if its different directory between phones...
Mods Can we please close this redundant thread. Thank you!

Empty start menu?

I updated my I-mate sp5 to WM6 and started playing with a theme. It all seemed to work fine until i changed some reg settings as described in this text:
In a registry editor go to this key:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/:MSStart
Check if you have an entry called "BKBitmapFile". If you do not, create a new "String" value.
Name : BKBitmapFile
Value data: \Application Data\Home\startmenubg.bmp
Add the following lines to the same key :MSStart
a Dword value with the name BKBitmapLogPixelsX and the data value 131 in decimal
a Dword value with the name BKBitmapLogPixelsY and the data value 131 in decimal
a Dword value with the name BKBitmapTransparent and the data value 16711935 in decimal (or FF00FF in hexa )
a Dword value with the name BKDefaultGradient and the data value 1 in decimal
a Dword value with the name BKFlags and the data value 26 in decimal
and finally a String value with the name BKUnselected and the value data COLOR_ALERTWINDOW
Copy startmenubg.bmp to
\Application Data\Home\
Soft-reset your device.

Then i didn't like it and deleted the added keys and the background... now my start menu is empty... not just invisible, when i press the right buttons i get nowhere. I just get a black screen saying More and Menu.
In the file explorer I see all the items in Windows\Start Menu so that shouldn't be the problem... Changing the theme to another one and rebooting didn't work.
Please help me!!

How about undoing all the registry changes you did, and rebooting? Otherwise you will have to do a hard reset.

Startup/Shutdown sound+animations+splash pictures, all resolutions, all WM versions !

UPDATED 23.01.2011 21:40 GMT+1
I have created some startup and shutdown screens and animations.
It takes me neraly 20 hours of discovering and testing, how startup and shutdown animations and sounds are working (there was big chaos on that matter on internet). All informatios are mentioned bellow.
Note: Those pictures are only preview. Complete sets (many resolutions and many WM versions) are available to download bellow.

How it works ?
Installator will create folder on PDA:
\Program Files\SS theme\
and place there first set of sounds and pictures (in 240x320 resolution):
boot.png
animated_startup.gif
startup.png
animated_shutdown.gif
shutdown.png
sound_startup.wav
sound_shutdown.wav
Moreover, installator sets all necessary registry entrys (and add missing ones). That is all.
Than you can replace pictures in \Program Files\SS theme\ for other themes (or resolutions).
Automatic installation - install steps / how to install:
1. Download and install "SS theme" (from links bellow).
2. Download set of screens which you want to use, and copy them to your PDA device to the folder \Program Files\SS theme\ .
Automatic installation - DOWNLOAD:
For installation HTCAnimation.dll and related registry entries (preffered option), use this one:
http://www.ahaportal.com/ssthemes/ss_theme_ha.exe.zip or http://www.ahaportal.com/ssthemes/ss_theme_ha.cab
For installation StartupAnimationEngine.dll and related registry entries, use this one:
http://www.ahaportal.com/ssthemes/ss_theme_sae.exe.zip or http://www.ahaportal.com/ssthemes/ss_theme_sae.cab
For installation of both HTCAnimation.dll and StartupAnimationEngine.dll and both related registry entries, use this one:
http://www.ahaportal.com/ssthemes/ss_theme_ha+sae.exe.zip or http://www.ahaportal.com/ssthemes/ss_theme_ha+sae.cab
For installation of other DLL files, which are missing in your device, install also this one:
http://www.ahaportal.com/ssthemes/ss_theme_sf.exe.zip or http://www.ahaportal.com/ssthemes/ss_theme_sf.cab or http://www.ahaportal.com/ssthemes/ss_theme_sf.zip
Themes (pictures) can be downloaded in all common resolutions 240x320, 320x480, 480x640, 480x800, 600x800 with version 5.0, 6.0, 6.1, 6.5, 6.5.1, 6.5.3, 6.5.5:
Theme 1
Theme 1a
Theme 2
Theme 2a
Theme 3
Theme 3a
Theme 4
(more are comming soon)
Manual installation (install steps / how to install):
There are 3 types of startup pictures in the following order:
1. "boot picture" ... shows inmediatly afther power on
2. "animated picture" ... shows afther "boot" picture (not used on some devices)
3. "splash picture" (also called "welcome picture") ... shows afther "animated" and beffore home screen
"boot picture" can be changed only by flashing, and it is little complicated (and dangerous of course) so we skip this one.
Other two pictures "animated" and "splash=welcome" can be changed manualy by editing registry, or automatically by using some installer (exe/cab).
To change "splash=welcome picture", you must edit/create following registry entrys:
Code:
[U][I]in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Splash Screen:[/I][/U]
MSBitmap (String): \SS theme\startup.png
MSShutdownBitmap (String): \SS theme\shutdown.png
[I]It is recomended to change also following entry to the same picture as previous entry, but i don't know, when this one would shows up, certanly not at boot (start):[/I]
CarrierBitmap (String): \SS theme\startup.png
CarrierShutdownBitmap (String): \SS theme\shutdown.png
[I]You can check also this two entrys, they should only to set, how long are those "splash" pictures shown:[/I]
CarrierTimeout (DWord): 30000
MSTimeout (DWord): 30000
CarrierShutdownTimeout (DWord): 30000
MSShutdownTimeout (DWord): 30000
For "animated picture" are commonly used two aproches, both are used by HTC company:
1) by using file \Windows\HTCAnimation.dll ... used for both startup and shutdown animation+sound ... (this is true for new devices and it is preffered)
2) by using file \Windows\startupAnimationEngine.dll ... used only for startup animation+sound ... (this is true for older devices, i don't recomende to use this way)
Check your windows folder (on PDA ofcourse) which one is presented here.
When you are using "HTCAnimation.dll", edit/add following entrys:
Code:
[U][I]in HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation:[/I][/U]
Enabled (DWord): 1
StartupGif (String): \SS theme\animated_startup.gif
StartupWav (String): \SS theme\sound_startup.wav
ShutDownGif (String): \SS theme\animated_shutdown.gif
ShutDownWav (String): \SS theme\sound_shutdown.wav
ShutDownAsStartup (DWord): 0
[I]For some devices, stratup+shutdown animations works, shutdown sound works too, [COLOR="Red"]but startup sound does not works[/COLOR]! Friednly, it takes me about whole 20 hours of my time to solve this issue and to discover existence of following registry entry by decompiling "HTCAnimation.dll". I have tested few values: 0,1,10,100 and 10000 = no sound. But value 500 works great, 1000 was also working, but end of sound was little cut. So when 500 does not work for you, try some higher or smaller values:[/I]
[COLOR="Red"]StartWavDelay (DWord): 500[/COLOR]
[I]There can be also "GifSpeed" entry, but i don't know, which value should be best, so when you don't experience any problems with animated pictures, don't change nor add this entry:[/I]
GifSpeed (DWord): 45 [I]I don't know which value is best, but 45 was in HD2 LEO device.[/I]
[I]I discover in "HTCAnimation.dll" file also references to following registry entrys, but i don't know what they do. Normally you don't need to change them. Perhaps someone can investigate that later:[/I]
GifInterval ???
StopGifDelay ???
StartGifDelay ???
GifPlayTimePriority ???
[U][I]in HKLM\Software\HTC\Poweroff:[/I][/U]
PlayShutdownAnimation (DWord): 1
[I]Check following entrys, and add them when they are missing. But when they are here, keep they values, not need to change:[/I]
[U][I]in HKLM\Software\OEM\Build_Order:[/I][/U]
HTCAnimation (String): 0
[U][I]in HKLM\Software\OEM\MASD:[/I][/U]
HTCAnimation (String): 1_3_5_2
[U][I]in HKLM\System\Startup\1:[/I][/U]
Dll (String): \Windows\HTCAnimation.dll
When you are using "startupAnimationEngine.dll", edit/add following entrys:
Code:
[U][I]in HKLM\Software\HTC\StartupAnimation:[/I][/U]
Enabled (DWord): 1
GIFFile (String): \SS theme\animated_startup.png
WAVFile (String): \SS theme\sound_startup.wav
[I]Keep in mind following entrys. You probably have them, or perhaps you don't need them. Check or change them only when you experience some problems with startup animated screen (picture).[/I]
Volumn (DWord): 127 [I]// notice that name is Volumn not Volume. This is sound volume only for startup sound, can be from 0 to 256 (perhaps more). Some users has reported, that 0 means MAX volume, but we have not tested that.[/I]
Priority (DWord): 200
DelayPerFrame (DWord): 80 [I]// i don't know the right value. I find on internet values 80 or 45, in some cases even lover valuses[/I]
Known Problems/Limitations:
1. Startup animation and startup sound is not working on some ROMs, oftly because some files are missing in those ROMs (files in \Windows folder: primary StartupAnimationEngine.dll or HTCAnimation.dll, or perhaps some support files like HTCUtil.dll, HTC_Lib.dll, PLAYSND.dll, , animation.dll, Engine.dll). In this case, afther installation of "SS theme", try install "SS theme support files" (ss_theme_sf). This one will copy missing dll files to your PDA only when they are mising. So you don't worry, your actual files (newest or oldest) would be not overwritted. And of course, they can be normally uninstalled later.
Message for ROMs cookers
I give permission for any ROM cookers to implement mine splash/animated pictures freely as they wish.
For Kaiser/Tytn2/TytnII
The sound_startup.wav must be only in PCM format:
44kHz, 16bit, mono
44kHz, 16bit, stereo
Any other format (for example 8bit or 22kHz) will not be played at start !
Boot picture
When you wish to change also first (boot) picture, you must create partial rom withouth anything (just boot picture) and flash it to your device. How to do it is described here (you can also find all necesarry files there):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5541185&postcount=196

Hello all,
i have madet some splash screens and animations for WM6.1 ROMs with standard MS Windows Mobile LOGO/TEXT. You can use it instead dutty's or other standard startup splash screens, and instead HTC animated logo on startup.
Download/Preview:
http://ahaportal.com/wm6.1_animated.gif
http://ahaportal.com/wm6.1_start.png
http://ahaportal.com/wm6.1_shutdown.png
Standard Windows Mobile Green theme: http://ahaportal.com/Windows_Mobile_Green.tsk
Standard startup sound from WindowsXP: http://ahaportal.com/wm6.1_startup.wav
Animated transparent windows vista wait cursor: (comming soon)
Install steps (how to install):
Copy those files to your device where you wish (standard windows folder).
Then is need yo edit this registry keys:
in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Splash Screen:
CarrierBitmap (String) : \windows\wm6.1_start.png
CarrierTimeout (DWord) : 2000
CarrierShutdownBitmap (String) : \windows\wm6.1_shutdown.png
CarrierTimeout (DWord) : 15000
MSBitmap (String) : \windows\wm6.1_start.png
MSTimeout (DWord) : 15000
MSShutdownBitmap (String) : \windows\wm6.1_shutdown.png
MSShutdownTimeout (DWord) : 15000
in HKLM\Software\HTC\StartupAnimation:
Enabled (DWord) : 1
GIFFile (String) : \windows\wm6.1_animated.gif
WAVFile (String) : \windows\wm6.1_start.wav
Known Problems/Limitations:
Well, there is problem. Shutdown animation and startup sound does not work with this or previous ROM from Dutty, and what i know with most of HTC roms. As i have found on internet, there is problem with some HTC files. which are responding for statup animations and sound. Those files are in \Windows folder: HTCUtil.dll, HTC_Lib.dll, PLAYSND.dll
And there must be also those files presented in \Windows\ : StartupAnimationEngine.dll, animation.dll, Engine.dll
Future:
I am preparing more versions with standard MS WINDOWS MOBILE logo/text in short time.
Help needed:
When someone knows the way, how to solve problem with shutdown splash screen and startup sound, please let us know.

Hi All The Way,
I installed your cab on my MDA Vario III. The animation is great, but the sound is REALLY loud - which isn't great when I do a soft reset in bed late at night and wake my wife up!
Is there a way to reduce the volume a lot, or even better to mute the sound completely?
Cheers

I'd think the easiest way would be to replace the \windows\wm6.1_start.wav with a blank wav file of the same name.

Hi, you can set volume of startup sound in registry here:
in HKLM\Software\HTC\StartupAnimation:
Volumn (DWord) : 63 (this is sound volume for startup boot sound, 0 means OFF, 127 means max. volume)

There are a couple of ways to do this.
1.) Involves editing the registry
2.) Install Schap's Advanced Configuration and it has an option to change the sounds level on the startup sound.
shutter13 - I tried to overwrite the sound file but there was no \windows\wm6.1_start.wav file to overwrite!
Annunaki - I have tried the registry setting you suggested - changed it from the default 3 to 0, but its still blasting out at bootup.
AllTheWay - I have Duttys rom with Schap's Advanced Configuration built in and rather strangely it looks like 0 is the loudest volume and 127 is the lowest! I set it to 127 and rebooted but its still really loud!? I also tried deleting the wav file location from there but it's still going (am I missing something here?)
I just spotted a file in startup called Audio Boot.lnk which points to a file called \windows\Audioboot 0.1.exe
I deleted both of them (keeping a backup of each just in case!) and the startup sound has stopped. The animation continues without sound which is what I was looking for, but it seems odd that I have to do that to stop it!?
Thanks to all of you for your help anyway!

Not actually. I had to put both of those files in there in order for the sound to work. Otherwise you wouldn't have any sound. I should of though of removing those files and the sound would go away. My bad

Thank you very much. But right now i have changed filenames so i have request on you:
a) can you remove your CAB from your post, because there are used not-actual file names, so users cant simple copy new files from my first post over previous files from your cab, they need rename files or change registry again.
b) Can you make new CAB with actual filenames ? Maybe better two, one for people which wish to use wm61_animated.gif and second with wm61_animated2.gif ?
Next question is that i am not sure, which volume of startup sound is adequate, i was reading on internet that 127 would be max. and 0 off, so maybe middle (63) can be good, can you check that on your pda ? On my pda startup sound does not work so i can't test that.
Thank you very much.
(PS i am still optimizing wm61_animated2.gif file, in one hour would be that completted)
This is pretty cool. I dig it.
Any chance you have something for those of us on WM6.0 still?

I had to add in a different .exe to get the sound file to work. That's what I had to edit the sound file name. As far as the rest of the files. I named them exactly how you have them in the post. Which ones do you want changed. I can make a animated2.gif .cab really quickly. As far as the sound I don't know how I can change that unless somebody has another idea then me, but this is the only way that you will get the sounds to work.
Anybody else have some ideas on how to get the sound to work besides having the .exe file embedded in the .cab?

HI, first sorry for my english, i am only beginner.
About this point: a) can you remove your CAB from your post ....
I mean "remove" and then put back updated one, which you can make with actual filenames. So when you have new cab ready (with filenames as i have used in first post), please put them to your post back.
About wm61_animated2.gif, now i see that there is no need to make two cabs, so i think one CAB with wm61_animated.gif is enought. Who whish to have 2nd animation instead 1st, he can rename wm61_animated2.gif to wm61_animated.gif and copy/rewrite old one.
PS: Can you describe how you was able to make startup sound played ? I was not trying your CAB at this time, and my registry tweak for startup sound does not work on my ROM, so i am asking you.
THX.

Ok I have exactly the same files name's as you have in the fist post in the original Cab. I'm not sure what you are referring to. You mean the actual name of the .cab or the files inside the .cab Because the file names are:
Code:
wm6.1_shutdown.png
wm6.1_start.png
wm6.1_animated.gif
Startup.wav - has to be named this or the sound will not work
oemstartup.dll - this is needed for the sound to work
AudioBoot0.1.exe - again needed for sound
fmodece.dll - for sound as well
Code:
This is the registry changes that I have implemented.
in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Splash Screen:
CarrierBitmap (String) : \windows\wm61_startup.png
CarrierTimeout (DWord) : 2000
CarrierShutdownBitmap (String) : \windows\wm61_shutdown.png
CarrierTimeout (DWord) : 2000
MSBitmap (String) : \windows\wm61_startup.png
MSTimeout (DWord) : 15000
MSShutdownBitmap (String) : \windows\wm61_shutdown.png
MSShutdownTimeout (DWord) : 15000
in HKLM\Software\HTC\StartupAnimation:
Enabled (DWord) : 1
GIFFile (String) : \windows\wm61_animated.gif
Now the only changes that I had to make the registry is for the start up sound. For whatever reason I can't get it to work without add a .exe program to the startup.
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_Software_HTC_StartupAnimation
WAVFile REG_SZ \Windows\startup.wav
Also you have MSTimeout & CarrierTimeout listed twice in the registry? Why do you need duplicate registry entries?
I can make a separate .cab that has the other animated image. I hope this clears things up.

wm6.1_shutdown.png
wm6.1_start.png
wm6.1_animated.gif
Startup.wav - has to be named this or the sound will not work
oemstartup.dll - this is needed for the sound to work
AudioBoot0.1.exe - again needed for sound
fmodece.dll - for sound as well

All is OK, but the filenames begins now no more with "wm6.1" but "wm61" instead, and "_start.png" has changed to "_startup.png", but you probaly have that good in your CAB, and make error only here in post.

I want to hide the Backlight and Power icons under Start | Settings | System on WM6.1...
I tried adding reg value of Hide = 1 (DWORD) in HKLM\Control Panel\Backlight & Power, to no avail...
Any help?
bump
anyone? nothing?
Thx in advance!
OEM_Lang_0409 folder just delete the values from the rgu file .. then you can also add a dword value like this
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Power]
"Group"=dword:1
"Hide"=dword:1
hope this helps
Hi!
I'm looking for a solution and came up with your post. In my case, some icons are all missed from both system and connections tabs. I checked in \Windows root and they apparently are there but is hidden from the tabs.
Any idea how to get it back somehow?
thanks my friend...
