So does the Fuze have a message waiting indicator light that flashes like a blackberry does when you get a new email or text message?
I just sent my self an email from my PC and the phone does not beep, flash or anything. I am using S2U2 if that makes a difference (slide to unlock like an iPhone).

Its in the DPad
The D-Pad is not lighting up on new emails, do I need to turn that on? If I send a text message to this phone while S2U2 has it locked, the screen lights up for a second and then goes blank. D-Pad still does not light up, could it be a problem with the S2U2 application not activating it?
Go to settings - Sounds and Notifications - Notifications and make sure 'flash light for __" is checked
I disabled S2U2 and sent a few more emails to my BB account and no D-Pad lighting up.
Also did an SMS text test, no D-pad lighting up.
On a missed call, it DOES light up.
Is there a setting in the phone to enable this for new emails and new text messages?

This was a gripe with my orbit and is the same with my orbit 2.
Is there a setting for a new email to act the same as receiving an sms, ie the screen lights up and a preview appears.
Failing that just the screen lighting up.
I have my phone on silent at work so have no idea when an email has arrived.
Thanks
Have you tried Settings>>Sounds and Settings>>Notifications Tab
- Select "Messaging: New e-mail messaging
-Adjust your sound, screen, light and vibration settings.
Or are you saying this doesn't work for you?
Sorry, should have said that. No, just doesnt light up the screen. does it with other people?
hi all,
Quick question..... when i receive an sms/mms or email my TP will of course notify me with a sound and pop up message. However when i dont open the message and select dismiss, the notification disappears but the dame center notification light still lights up until i open the message itself... is there anyway to stop this?
By me pressing dismiss, i know there is an unread message so why the flashing light still, i think this is stupid? if i dont click dismiss then yes, i agree the light should notify me there are unread messages .... what if i just dont want to open some messages... then the light will light up forever??
anyone agree and have a fix?
thx
you can set how long you want the light to flash under sounds/notifications I think

yes that is true but doesnt stop my problem when i dismess the notification but not look at the sms.... keeps on flashing like the energizer bunny non stop ....
i think its just life and this cannot be solved.. either u have it on of off and as long as u have sms in ur box, it will keep flashing no matter what... sigh
thanks for the reply friend
The light goes off only after there are no unread messages in your inboxes. Previewing messages from the TouchFlo interface doesn't mark them as read.

Well, it is there to remind you that you still have unread sms. If you really want to remove the notification, just select "Mark as read" instead of "Dismiss". Anyway, WM has a bug whereby even when you select "Mark as read", it is not marked as read. This bug is introduced since WM6.

Actually, previewing the messages from the TouchFlo 3D interface did mark the messages as read. It must fulfil the time out though, it must be displayed for about 3 seconds.

I've never seen that bug before - does it consistently happen?

even if you untick the "flash light" box in sounds and notifications?
I haven't tried it, but seems stupid that the light would flash if you've selected it not to

Mine's not grayed out... but my point is that if I press "Dismiss" after I get a sms, the light should NOT flash anymore as I know there is unread messages and I dont want to read it at that time. The light "should" flash if I dont open the sms, or select dismiss or marked as read.... As long as I dont select anything, the light should flash but if I select anything at all, the light should NOT flash..... is my point. WM didn't really think this point through....
ie. Nokia or any other make of phones... when u get a sms, you have a notification... after you dismiss the notification you dont keep getting other notifications (lights or sounds) do you? Of course not because you already know you have unread messages.... only after you receive new messages do the notifications come back.. that maks sense but WM on this front does not.
mine is grayed out- anyone know why?
Mine is greyed out as well, anyone know why?
Mine is too
Seeing as that the Captivate does not have a notification LED, it sometimes becomes a problem noticing new notifications. I just want to know if there is some kind of application that would flash the screen for a few seconds or so when the phone receives a new notification. I remember my iPhone doing that and it would be cool to see Android phones doing the same.
Look in the development forum for captivate, there is a thread doing this exact thing

No, I know about the red dot on the screen thing. I dont really need that and besides, I believe it kills battery. I just want some app to turn the screen on for a few seconds when I get a notification.
Maybe go to the noled thread and see if he'll add that feature
my screen does flash when I get a message. It pops up in the notification bar and shows two lines of the message then shuts off.

It does this when it is sleeping?
I just tested it. When its locked and the screen is off it revives itself when I get and MMS or SMS. For emails it does not.
handcent sms will do it when you adjust the settings for the popup menu
Oh, maybe it only works for SMS and MMS notifications only. I would like the screen to flash on for every notification (Gmail, Feedr, AIM, etc). Kind of like how the iPhone worked with push notifications.
Is there an app where if u receive a txt message, missed call, email or w.e. n let say you u weren't close by youre phone and phone goes back to standby or sleep. Will the led lights on the phone blink like a normal led notification on the g2x.
Search for g2x notification

Yep agreed on that one. The only other 2 I have found worth while and tested are...
"Message Notification"
--This glows a large envelope (literally the size of your screen) momentarily then fades out. This occurs along with your default profile notification. You then have the option to adjust the reminder settings and frequency. For instance that screen with the envelope will glow then fade every 4 minutes if you'd like. I work with my phone resting on a cradle or propped up against something so if you're nearby and miss a text you'll see it shortly thereafter. I know you're OP referred to something without a constant reminder, I'm sure to save battery, but this is again totally customizable and pretty cool. It's worth giving it a shot and then delete if you dont like it.
...and...
"SMS Popup"
-I still use this as of today... when a SMS or MMS text comes in it actually pops up a "cartoon style quote bubble" that has the senders contact card in it as well as the first 4 or 5 lines of message text. You have 3 buttons to choose how to engage: Close, Delete, Reply. Clean UI and works nicely. It stays posted in the foreground so when you're droid wakes up or you unlock screen it'll be there... however it doesn't light up the screen aside from the initial receipt. Hope this helps... the one overground posted above is great too. I have that installed along with SMS Pop.
alright thank u yes the g2xone looks fantastic, n about the message notification i couldnt find it in the market but thank u once again.
This is my first motorola phone in a longg time, so apologies if this is some well known thing.
Is there a way to change the settings for the LED?
I like that FB is blue and my texts are Green, but then my emails seem to also be Green... Would rather Gmail be red or something.
Thanks!

Where are the controls to turn on these light notifications (for received text, for example)? I didn't know the default settings used the notification light at all. If I had, I might not have gone looking for an app
To answer your question, there is an app called 'Light Flow' that allows you to customize the notification LED for different events. You can change things like colors and flashing speed for different app notifications (text, gmail, calendar notification, missed calls, low battery, etc) and also add other apps so that their notifications can trigger the LED.
There is a 'Lite' version of the app that is fully functional so you can try it out. I just started using it but I really like it so far.
No idea, mine were on by default haha.
But thanks! I'll go check out the app.
I don't think there is a way to control the LED without a 3rd party app.

Lightflow is awesome!
I now have my led turn orange when charging and green when charged! How did Moto forget something so basic?
Hi:
Thanks to Vector for pointing out Light Flow. Between the mysterious, single, unread text message imported from my old phone and all of the emails sent out by groupon et all in the middle of the night, the green light was flashing all night.Thankfully, Light Flow has a sleep mode that turns the light off at night.
I was ready to return the phone as it was keeping me up. Really appreciated!
