HELP...How do I create a shortcut of a folder that works in TouchFlo - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I have a shortcut made for "My Saved Documents" a directory on my storage card.
The .lnk only works from the WINDOWS Start Icon under Programs.
If I try to copy / create the icon in the programs tab in touch flo, it doesnt work. Error. I dont think it is a signed trust issue, but I dont know. Search is no help.
It does not work anywhere except through the Start Icon. Then Starting Programs.
Do I need to create something else to work with my existing shortcut?

Anybody????

Help: Subfolder in Start Menu has hidden itself...

This is strange...
I keep my Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder organized with several subfolders (Games, Network, Utilities, Media, etc.). Recently my "Network" folder disappeared.
I figured it wasn't a huge issue -- I thought I must have deleted it accidentally, and it's not a big deal to re-create the shortcuts that were in that folder.
So I go to Windows\Start Menu\Programs in TotalCommander and try to create a new "Network" folder, and I'm told that the folder couldn't be created. The same sort of message I would have gotten if there was already a folder with that name...
On a whim I append "Network" to the address in TC's address bar, and lo and behold, there's my Network folder, complete with shortcuts!
So the folder is still there, but it's hidden -- TotalCommander doesn't see it. File Explorer doesn't see it. Wisbar Advance's Cascading Start Menu doesn't see it.
How did this happen, and how can I fix it? Any ideas?
This is on a Prophet (Dopod 818 Pro) running one of the WM6 variants... PDAViet's 4.0.0.5 Cross, I think. (I've flashed so many over the last few weeks I lose track).
TIA for any help!

you didn't need Total Commander to investigate this. Go back to windows directory/start menu/programs. When the list of programs comes up, scroll until you see the sub folder or program in question. when or if you find it in the program list, simply tap/hold/copy. Go back to windows/start menu and paste or paste shortcut there.
Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread, so I'm assuming it's not in the program list. you said you found the program with the complete sub folder, but it's hidden in the directory. Have you tried tapping on "menu" (lower right)/show all files?

Error message with shortcuts re: .lnks files

I am looking for some help with "shortcuts" or ".lnk" files
I am using a HTC Tilt 8925 with WM6, but I think this may be a more universal issue.
I went into Windows > StartMenu and added several new folders, and then moved the .lnks formed from program installations into those folders.
For instance, folder "Refererence" now hold Dictionary, Lexipedia, Thesaurus, etc.
All was OK for a while, but then I started to get error messages about 2 application .lnks that I had moved into a subfolder. The funny thing is, the links actually work! It's just that randomly, I get a WM6 message that there is a problem with " Programs > XXX > AAA "
Does anyone know how to make a "new" link, to replace these old links? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program and then moving those 2 .lnks, again, to the subfolder where I want it to be, but it happened again!
Thanks for any and all ideas!
PS: I have SK Tools installed; I thought there was a shortcut tool, but I cannot find it
Go into Program Files then whatever application you want the shorcut for. Copy the exe file then navigate to wherever you want the shortcut and paste shortcut. Rename the shorcut to whatever you want and the link is done!
Having said that if your shortcuts work sometimes but not others I cant see how it is a problem with the actual shortcut. You may need help here from someone more experienced than me.

Shortucts for non installed programs in TF3D program list

The programs tab in TF3D allows me to include already installed apps listed in program files and elsewhere. Some apps though, i have installed on my SD card but they arent listed in the program files because either i did a hard reset or some other reason, so without reinstalling them is there a way to include them in the programs list?
If not i suppose a reinstall is in order, some apps though are big and will take a little while to install.
You can create a shortcut to the wanted exe files and then put it in Windows\Start Menu\Programs.
Or, if you have Resco Explorer, you have an option to send file to Start Menu when press and hold on file.
Thanks will try this, hope it works

How do I make shortcuts in the program folder for apps on a memory card?

Hi all.
I want to make icons in the program folder for applications that aren't installed on the device, but run off of a memory card. For instance, I run putty from the memory card, as it is a standalone .exe file. It would be easier to go to programs and launch it from there, rather than go to a file explorer, direct it to the memory card, and then click on putty.exe. Just want to save myself some time really. I know it can be done because BackupPIM does it.
Thanks for any advice.
PS I tried searching first, but it was a fairly specific thing and so I couldn't see any results. If you find any, shame me for being a noob, and point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
you go to the exe file that you wan to place in the program menu... then copy it.... then go the program folder and paste it as short cut... I dont know whether this will helps you
Shortcuts are text files with a *.lnk extension that you can place in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder. RESCO Explorer can do this for you (Send to Start Menu as Shortcut) or you can do it manually as explained in the WIKI. Hope this helps.

Make sure if you do it by hand you do it plain text
Here is a tutorial.
Thanks guys that worked absolutely perfectly, just copying the file and pasting the shortcut. It's funny to think that you know so much about Windows Mobile, and then realise you don't know something so simple as this!
This will make a huge difference in my day to day life. It may even mean that my partner can now use TomTom (any more than clicking three buttons and she is annoyed, lol). This question and answer section was a great idea by someone, don't know why it didn't happen sooner.
Cheers! Keep up the good work.
Thanks
You guys are REALLY helping us noobs out allot. This worked like a charm.
One day we might have the "smarts" to do the same for others
By the way, I suggest you create a cab (you can use WinCECabManager) to have the *.lnk installed in your device so that everytime you flash a rom or hard reset you can just intall it.. I create a cab for all programs running from the storage card. one cab and i have all the shortcuts i need in my programs menu
Dear nir36
Can you explain that how we can create a cab of shortcuts the programs stored in mem card
Best regards
Get Quickcab 2.0 (hacking forum). It's pretty self explanatory to use, but when you make the cab, make sure in the name field that you name it 'mycabname.cab'. If you don't put in the extension, it doesn't work (at least not for me, lol).
The easiest way to set up the cab is to put quickcab in your c: folder, then inside that folder copy your start menu from your device. Delete all the links in the start menu you don't need, then just send the individual folders with the links into the \windows\start menu\programs directory shown in quickcab. Select 'no uninstall' so the cab doesn't go into the installed programs list. Having the named folders on your pc makes things much faster. You don't have to create the directory for the cab, and everything's organized properly. Do not create an empty folder in the cab file-this will give you an error, and a stupid command window will open, leaving you very disappointed.

Shortcut to a folder

Hi all,
I hope somebody can help me here - this has been wrecking my head!
When i create a shortcut to a folder in the startmenu (wm6.5 build 23053) - it appears there i.e: shortcut to business, but when i click on it it comes up with a message box 'the file 'business' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists etc etc'.
Its like its treating it as a file instead of a folder even though i have set the regkey 'group' as 1 to indicate it being a folder. I have also got sdkcerts installed.
Thanks
Secc
Da_G just answered this the other day in the 6.5 thread. You need to tell the shortcut what to open the folder with. It has to be something like 'fexplore #\business.....' Obviously, I'm not good at shortcut syntax, but that's the basic idea. With 6.1, you could open a folder using the start menu, but the 6.5 menu won't open a folder.
