Hi people,
It's getting to be that time again, and I'm trying to decide whether or not to spend the extra cash for the Touch HD instead of a Touch Diamond...
Reasons to go for it:
-3.8" @ 800x480 baby!
-More RAM + ROM
-Did I mention the huge screen?
Reasons not to:
-The price difference is HUGE at o2 Germany - 99 for the Diamond vs. 300+ for the HD...
-Same processor, same tech, etc.
So here's the big question - does the extra RAM on the HD actually make much of a difference in terms of speed? Or will I be noticing that mainly when I'm running a bunch of applications at once?
The Touch HD seems to be comparable to the Touch Pro in terms of specs. I tried a Diamond before I got my Pro, and there was definitely a speed difference. I imagine the same will be true of the HD compared to the Diamond. However, the Diamond was certainly usable, so it depends on your priorities.
Hmmm, good to know. Didn't think the Touch Pro would be faster than the Diamond, which was why I didn't even consider going with that - but that being the case, the Pro is looking pretty good because of the keyboard...
Are there any big differences between Diamond, Diamond Pro and HD in terms of the TF3D interface?

HTC does not have many VGA offerings. but its not the end of the world with qvga.
I started a thread recently for my self that could answer some of your questions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1970736
maybe flame
maybe sonyE's upcomming x1
I've been looking hard to find a device to upgrade my Trinity to a VGA device and the sad thing is there really isn't anything decent out there right now and hardly anything worthwile coming out, at least from what's been announced.
HTC, forget it they don't have anything in a small form factor that's VGA. Too bad, the Touch Cruise would have been absolutely perfect if it had a VGA. The only thing that could have made that better was if it had a Capacitive VGA touch screen.
E-Ten has some VGA devices but they only have 64 Megs of ram and it's poorly used, you end up with an average of about 12 Megs running which can make it painful to use. Not to mention its quirks like not being able to power off the device like HTC devices by holding the Power Button down, lots of little things like that.
Imate Ultimate Series, all except the 8502 are VGA but most are lacking in GPS if that's a feature you are looking for and they are bigger than most devices if size matters. Not to mention Imate seems to be in trouble, their current rom is very buggy, support seems limited and the battery life is terrible.
O2 Flame as mentioned by Rudegar is a posibility but I believe it's TriBand, that's a problem for me as I'm in North America but if you don't need the extra band, it's worth considering.
The Xperia also mentioned by Rudegar pretty much has everything and goes behind VGA with an 800x400 resolution but it's not available yet. Personally I'm not a big fan of slide out querty keyboards, I find them to big and combersome to use with two thumbs but given the deminsions are about the same as the O2 Flame, I'd choose this over the Flame if I couldn't find anything smaller.
The Gigabyte GSmart MS808 has potential, don't know the diminsions but the current specs seems to indicate it has everything you are looking for. Haven't had any experience with Gigabyte but people seem to like them so it's worth taking a look at. Again, it's not available until later this year though.
Bottom line, nothing out there that's really worth it right now in the VGA market. If you can wait I'd hold off until later this year, I think we'll be seeing a lot of new devices coming out with VGA, even HTC should be moving towards VGA as their leaked new Touch Flow (Manilla) seems to indicate.
Personally I've been seriously considering jumping Windows Mobile and moving over to an Iphone for a while. Now that they are building in ActiveSync support with push email into the next firmware. I'd have to get used to a lot of limitations, no camera, gps, basic functionality ect. that I don't have know but the capactive touch screen!!! I really wish there was a Windows Mobile device out there that used this technology. Once you use it, it makes it really hard to go back to a resitive touch device almost unbearable!
I'd really wish there was a VGA Windows Mobile device that had it all for me the absolute minimum of any device should be
Small Slim Form Factor
Good Battery Life
TriBand HSDPA/HSUPA
Quadband GSM
400 Mhz Proc.
VGA Display
256 Megs Rom
128 Megs Ram
GPS
3Mp Camera/VGA Camera (Video Calls)
Bluetooth
Make that screen Capacitive and it would be the best device out there!
" Personally I'm not a big fan of slide out querty keyboards, I find them to big and combersome to use with two thumbs but given the deminsions are about the same as the "
nor am i a fan of keyboards but other then that which one could just not use the x1 looks pretty sweet so far
a non VGA device thats interesting is the new
MWg Atom V.
http://www.expansys.ca/d.aspx?i=164854
its an all-in-one with an attractive design.
draw backs are:
qvga
64 ram
minimalistic 6 buttons- 2 for calling
and maybe price.

Aside recent rumors that SE Xperia will be on At&T so that will give us in NA the option of plenty unlocked X1's in early 2009.
ASUS is also bringing exciting new devices that that are the size of an IPhone with a 2.8" screen
Hi all,
Like most, I am really happy with my TyTN II but seriously considering upgrading to the Touch Pro - mainly for the VGA screen and snazzy interface.
BUT....should I really consider this as a "upgrade"?
So, all you lucky / proud (or not?) Touch Pro owners out there.....please can you help me determine the differences I am likely to encounter (good and bad!) when switching from my TyTN II to the Touch Pro?
Hopefully, this thread should then serve as a good resource for similar users.
Cheers!
Ringy
Will help me out too, as i have an xda orbit and up for renewal in a few weeks, the tytn II is easily available on O2/T-mobile, where as nobody really knows whats going on with the touch pro. Maybe i should forget about the touch pro and just get the kaiser ( stellar/vario 3 ), afterall its still an upgrade from my orbit.
It's hard NOT to consider it an upgrade: much more ram, nice interface (if you like it), VGA screen and faster processor. Less important might be modern look.
drawbacks: no tilt keyboard, smaller keys (but more additional digit-line), less keys on the outer shell (I really miss camera button and comm manager button, and others might miss the roller).
For now this is quite an early stage in ROM development, but I must say that even original ROM is really fast and really stable (no other PPC before: I had BlueAngel and Hermes - was even close to this in the begining).

You can look at specs of each device there and compare.

which better HTC Touch Pro or HTC Touch Diamond2 ?
now i have HTC Touch Pro, can buy HTC Touch Diamond2, which better
and why?
Edit/Delete Message
like i mention in a post similar to this, TP2 and Diamond 2 have the SAME specs as the TouchPro... no difference in speeds since its running the same Qualcomm 528mhz CPU as the TP, what youre basically looking at is that the Diamond 2 has NO hardware keyboard, bigger screen along with proximity sensor, no DPad, preloaded with 6.5, no flash but with a 5 MP camera, and also the price is more, id stick to TP if i were you until theres a device that has new specs like the Leo (I.E)
which is better? apples or oranges? cake or ice cream? internals are the same, the features are different. dont ask us which is better. ask yourself.
Hey all at the moment im using an Amsam M810 it was my 1st PPC but now i want to upgrade i cant decide whether to get a
dell axim X51v or else some type of a HTC.
THe dell seems to be the better option as i dont want to spend more than €150($204)
Id like peoples opinion on which i should get,Thank You in advance
I'd get an HTC diamond or touch pro, around here the pro is 175Eur second hand, the diamond a bit less. The diamond is a bit more sluggish (less ram), and the pro is thicker. It's 7mm thicker, which doesn't sound like a big consern, but it feels bulkier and it's heavier ( has more ram, camera flash and keyboard). You could also save some money and get a Touch HD, which would seem to be the best choise of the three. I have a touch pro and I'm happy with it.
Get the x51v. If you're into gaming or watching videos, the x51v is your best bet, and you even have the option for CF and SD card slots. For that price, HTC doesn't have anything that can compete. I had one a while back, and loved it, but left it in the airport, so I replaced it with an ipaq 210 (mistake)
Axim doesnt have phone support, your phone seems to have phone on it. So don't get the Axim.
Get a HTC Diamond or Touch Pro and you will be ready to go...
Be aware that the screens on the Diamond or Touch Pro are TINY! An X1 or Diamond 2 shouldn't be that much more expensive, and you'll get a bigger screen.
Thanks everyone for the input,At the moment it looks like the Diamond 2 or Touch HD
Although after watching this video i think i will save and get the diamond 2
(Cant post video but its on youtube called Showdown: HTC Touch HD vs Touch Diamond2
Hi mates
I have omnia and i love winmo but touch sensitivity in omnia not good for me.
i plan to buy a new windows mobile , i cant decide wich one is better .
I know HD2 is the best but I DONT LIKE THE SIZE OF HD2 ITS SOO BIG FOR ME :-( .
I want to buy a windows mobile with :
1.Powerfull cpu,ram
2.Best touch sensivity
3.Best battery life
4.Goooood software support
now wich phone you prefer to me ?
( HD-mini,OMNIA2,OMNIA PRO,..... or others )
or a android phone with this specifications .
Thaaaaanks
Well, after seeing Reviews for the HD-Mini, it's actually a terrible device. Plus, the HVGA Resolution is like a black-sheep... Almost NO Apps work with the Resolution.
If you want a decent phone, with all of the traits you listed above, I'd recommend either a Touch Diamond 2 or a First Edition Touch Diamond.
The specs are almost 100% the same, but the Touch Diamond actually has slightly better performance & battery life than it's successor (Touch Diamond 2).
The same thing can be said about the Touch Pro and the Touch Pro 2.
wich one is best in software support ?
OMNIA2 or DAIMOND2
I'd actually recommend you get a HTC HD2 since you want something thats got a good touchscreen, powerful CPU/Lost of RAM, Good Battery Life & Software Support.
The HD2 has all of that AND has an enormous screen.. and to support this it has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor (CPU), 448mb of RAM and 5 hours of battery life.
My friend actually bought one and i fiddled around with it and i was absolutely blown away by how responsive his touchscreen was.. i think its a capacitive screen relative to what im used to which (Resistive). It also has multitouch capabilities lol.
Maybe a HTC Desire if you are intrested in android (3.7 inch) or an X10 xperia
Stick with HTC devices like the Diamond2 or the Desire depending on your needs.
which one have more app ?
OMNIA2 or DAIMOND2
Honestly, the Diamond 2.
