Remove battery icon in notifications? I swear I'm not a noob! - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I've searched and tried everything I could find and have done in the past, and I still can't get the battery icon to go away when on the home screen. I edited the registry so that the time and date are shown in the notification area always, but on the home screen that green battery icon overlays them and just makes a mess. Is the raphael different than every other HTC device I've had so far in this regard? In case it matters I have a fuze and am running NATF's latest ROM (2.2 I think).

Maybe you should post this in the official NATF V 2.2 Thread. he should be able to help you.

I really don't think this is a ROM specific problem, but if nobody has input, I'll ask the chef...

Solved.
I installed Advanced Config and used it to change the notification from battery to time. I don't know which registry key was responsible, but it's all good now. None of the manual registry key edits I used on previous devices worked but apparently advanced config knows which one to change! It wasn't a ROM issue.

Just for info refering to above post
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell]
"ShowTitleBarClock"=dword:0
0= Battery; 1=Clock
(U can always see the reg hack in the adv cfg *.xml file)

ah hah! I was focusing on "TBOpt=3" to try to show both date and time and ignoring the "ShowTitleBarClock" part! Thanks!

Keyboard Light

I am having an absolute FIT with the damn keyboard light on my 750! It gos off after about 5 seconds, and THAT is ridiculous! I was told by a source at Palm there IS a registry entry to fix this, but he could not divulge the info (I did tell him I was open to receiving an anonymous email, but haven't seen it yet!)
Anyone have any ideas? He said it was the same one that worked on the TyTn/Hermes/8525 but I have not found it yet....
Help??
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight and key is QKeyLedTimeout. The number of seconds is usually set to default at 10. you can make it any number you like. Mine is set at 20.
I wonder if this also relates to my current issue too - can anyone comment?
The backlight on my Treo 750's keyboard refuses to come on IN USE - however I'm fairly convinced it's not a hardware issue; when performing a soft reset the keypad lights up fine during the boot cycle.
It's as if there's a registry entry that sets the "turn off keypad light after" value to 0 (i.e; always off).
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Steve
Found It in WM5
I traded in my WM6 phone for a Treo 750 with WM5 - wow, everything is where it should be, and the phone works the way it should!
As far as the On-Off issue, Steve, I see that in line in my phone - the key is set to 1, so I would try changing that:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight and key is QKeyOnOff change it from 0 to 1
Let me know - this could be my first crack at helping someone else out!!
I have a question. I can not seem to find the registry edit area for the Treo 750 running WM6. Can you help me in giving me some instructions on getting to this so I can edit the file to keep the keyboard lights on for longer than a few seconds?
on my kaiser it's set to 30 by default.

Hi there,
There is no default registry editor on WM devices, so you will have to install one if you want to make any changes. You will find a few built into well known commercial apps such as MemMaid and Resco Explorer (I've used both and they work fine on WM6). There may also be some free ones around.

Dutty's ROM enquiry

Just flashed to v3 and a couple of questions.
Firstly how do you set the HTC Home clock to 24hr, there doesn't appear to be a setting in regional settings for this.
Secondly ist here a way to bring up the program close icon at the top of the screen, I think it used to be an "x"
Thanks in advance
the 'x' was wktask if memory serves me correctly.
u will need to d/l the cab.
there is no option for me to set my alarm to go off in the evening. is only available in the morning
wktask isn't the answer. I'm talking about the icon which came with the original rom and sat in the top right corner, 3 horizontal bars with a triange at the bottom. Gave you the option to close a program by holding x on the program name. The Dutty Rom I'm using doesn't have one.

Im not real sure of the name, but i remember the one you refer to. I wasn't the duttythroy task manager was it?
The duttythroy task manager puts an icon at the bottom, but you have to run it to start. In the original rom the icon at the top started as default. I'm wondering if updating to the latest version of HTC Home will sort this out.
24hrs
You can get 24hr time by setting the Time Style in Regional Settings to
HH:mm:ss
The program the original poster is looking for is HTC Task Manager.
No offence guys but based on some of th questions i see (like time and alarm setting), some of you should not be flashing roms just yet. Best to first know the basics (these types of things should be in your manual i think)
None taken but as I've just been informed the HH:mm:ss didn't appear in the drop down. It was only after forcing it that it appeared. The flash has been a success but some things are differnt from the original. That's what forums are for or last time I looked anyhow. Here's the answer off a more helpful member
"Now that you mention it, I think I remember my 'regional settings' being dorked up initially when I loaded one of Dutty's ROMs. Try fiddling with the setting on the first page which sets all the other settings. Save it, leave, come back in, and then go to the time tab and then click on Time Style. When the list of available selections pops up, keep pressing down (it only shows 2 available, but more are there, trust me). Eventually select the one that has HH:mm:ss. That is the 24 hour one that I've used."
So based on the fact it was HTC Task manager, is this something that doesn't exist with Dutty's Rom or something you can enable?
I am also looking for the location in the menus to bring up this HTC Task manager in dutty's ROMs. I remember finding the menu for it in V3 but I can't seem to find it in V4.
This worked for me.... soft-reset and it should appear

Backlight reverting to 10 seconds

I am posting this because 1) I don't think this issue is specific to one cooked ROM, and 2) despite searching, I can't find a solution.
The issue is that with all of the ROMs I tried that are based on recent AT&T or HTC 6.1 ROMs, the backlight reverts back to 10 seconds. I can change it through Backlight settings to something else, and go back to the control panel a minute later and see it's back to 10 seconds. Very annoying.
I've seen this with a couple of L26 ROMs, the stock AT&T 6.1 ROM, and the HyperDragon III Pro ROM which I am currently using. I see this whether I have S2U2 or not (I am on 1.22b now). My current set-up: HardSPL 3.56, HyperDragon III Pro Sept-17, S2U2 1.22b... but like I said, I don't think it's ROM-specific.
Calling all experts: is there a fix for this? (If you are planning on posting something like "I don't have this problem" or "Change your backlight setting through the control panel", please don't clutter the thread with your post).
Thanks!
I spent a fair bit of time searching this and testing various suggestions that seemed to work for other people, however I was constantly getting the 10-second reversion, plus the even more annoying dimming backlight when locked.
Anyway I posted this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425361
And now after removing the registry 'BatteryTimeout' my backlight is working exactly as I want it - i.e. backlight dims afer 30-seconds regardless of whether it is locked or not, plus when locked the backlight comes on when the screen is tapped.
Now wait for the various replies saying 'use the search'.....
Andy
FWIW, I too had this annoying issue, but found that using ROMeOS roms (last version is 4.6) I don't get this issue. Not sure why or what the chef did to fix it.
The chef has now moved onto the Raphael...so he is not working on his Kaiser roms anymore

Thanks, let's see if it sticks. I've tried quite a few methods I found during my search and those didn't work....
It happened to me also with akadonny's 3.29.DK.10 / SPL 3.56.Hard
I changed SPL in the meantime for a different reason, and I had no backlight issues afterwards, but still I would not link that strictly to SPL cause I changed many other things.
Anyway, I found a power setup that works for me very well:
- for "on battery power" I only use turn off device (uncheck turn off backlight)
- for "on external power" I only use turn off backlight (uncheck turn off device)
P.S. This never happened to me with earlier builds, only with 20748.1.4.0.
Well, the first approach didn't work. I have a setup similar to the previous post, but that hasn't helped. I am on SPL 3.56 Hard. Which SPL did you go back to?
Second approach didn't work either. I see a lot of posts with people reporting the same problem... Has there been a definitive solution?
Im using HyperDragon_III_Omnia_20080818. With this ROM I dont have the issue of the 10 sec backlight. I use Hard SPL 3.29.

I also have this problem and it is making me sick, at night while in bed I am trying to read an ebook but I have to tap on screen every 10 seconds!!
I am HyperDragon_III_Omnia ROM and I have tried many tweaks no luck.
Edit...
Ok I think the problem is now sorted.
Here's what I did... changed the following registry - HKCU\ControlPanel\BackLight\ACTimeout set the DWORD to 0 and reset the device.
So far it seems to be fine.

Hmmm, I'll try this, thanks. This should be for backlight while connected... but worth a shot. I wonder if HardSPL version makes a difference... I'm on 3.56.

how to change this text ?

i wanna change this text in my theme:
(Its not my theme image right now but is the same text)
change SIM
sorry for my terrible joke, if you want to change your fonts take a look here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531504, if you want to change the name I guess it's not possible:it is sent by your operator. In fact it changes when you roam. The only trick I know is to override with your homecountry operator name all roaming operators names, but that's not what you're lookng for.
Bye
its possible to make disappear and put another text in the right, left corner or center i saw in other prints in this forum
Anyone?
Or try this, perhaps it works
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359563
I don't know if it works on Topaz.
thanks i go try
it works on my D2
but when i have a soft reset, lost the configuration...

have a look at these registry values:
RegWriteDWord("HKLM","\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting","Enable3GLongNamePrefix",1)
RegWriteString("HKLM","\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting","LongNamePrefix","3G")
my registry are equal, but when I reboot Personalize v2.0 configuration lost, and the "3G Yoigo" display in my D2.
it is impossible??
It works after many soft resets but battery discharges much faster (sometimes about 10 or 15 % during one hour and without using). I uninstalled it and battery life is higher again.
sorry double post
Thats weird. It works flawlessly on my TP2. I haven't had one problem with it resetting after soft resets or any battery drain. Which I couldn't possibly see how it would drain your battery anyways.

[Q] [Comm Manager Icons Issue]

I'm having an issue with my ATT Fuze Comm Manager icons. Over the past day or so, the On/Off icons have moved from the right side of the screen over to the left side - covering each of the functions' icon.
There is probably a registry setting messed up... I used Advanced Config 3.2 to change the Comm Manager screen to the default, and put it back to ON/OFF b/c I didn't like it. I think that is what caused the issue.
Does anyone know how I can fix that? I would put up a screen shot, but I don't know how to get one off of my phone - yet. I'll put one up as soon as I find that out.
I have Total Commander and Schap's Registry Editor installed and I know how to use them.
Thanks,
Carey

If I were going to guess, I'd say you messed up the commmanageruistyle value. Try adjusting it-2 may not work for you, but apparently it works for me, lol.

Nail. Head. Hit!
Changed and soft reset. Voila, they are back where they belong. I think I will muck with the XML behind Adv Config and give myself the option to modify these settings.
Thanks Farmer Ted
