Now cannot load programs from flash drive? = Help - Advantage X7510 General

Dear all
I've had my htc advantage x7510 for a month or so now, just got it set up all lovely and now completely randomly it won't load many of the applications i have installed on the flash drive. I get the cannot load xxxx file as its not signed or one of the components is missing.
I can see the flash drive in explorer and copy and delete files to and from it, but i can't even uninstall any of the problematic programs or resinstall them as it fails each time.
Is this a WM6 error needing a hard reset (tried a soft reset and no good) or is it something to do with WM6 now not fully seeing the flash drive?
Help - god this is damn frustrating.
Regards
Andy

Do you have an SD Card? Seems to me there is something strange with the registry settings.
I remember having a similar problem back when I was using my Universal. For some reason the Storage Card got renamed so none of my applications would launch.
You might have to do a Hard Reset and a full install from scratch. This time invest on SPB Backup and make sure you keep a fresh copy.

If it is only a matter of changed (for any reason) name of the disk, then you can manualy change back the name of the disk and then softreset. It should be named "Flash Disk" (if we are talking about 16GB disk).

The system won't allow you to simply rename it.
Back then I found out the cause was WM5torage. I had to find a way to disable WM5torage first, delete Storage Card folder (newly created), and simply soft reset. Renaming the Storage Card 2 to it's original name "Storage Card" did not work, the system won't allow me.

I never had a problem with Flash disk, but few times had a problem with Storage Card.
If one of your programs uses it (i.e. your poutlook saves your attachments on it) and your card is out or not working then the system automatically creates a folder in main memory named "Storage Card".
Next, when your real storage card starts to work again, the system names it "Storage Card2", and you are in a trouble, cause all your programs using it, can not reach their folders on "Storage Card".
The solution:
Delete the "Storage Card" folder (using proper explorer: Resco or Total Commander), and then either rename your Storage Card2 to Storage Card, or just softreset.
I've done it many times.
I assume similarly could happen with Flash disk if for any reason (somebody fiddling with registry, in.eg.).

I have Total Commander installed in my Storage Card back then. Even now, all my applications are installed in my Flash Disk. So Total Commander did not work either when that happened to me. I had to use File Explorer, and as you know it is not capable of doing that as I found out. I assume you have Total Commander and Resco Explorer installed in the Main Memory.
I am just glad back then that I was able to sort it out and not do a Hard Reset, although I was VERY close to doing it from frustration. Maybe I need to follow your tip, install Total Commander in the Main Memory. Just in case.

HELP! What's in my SD?

I am using the Darkforce ROM of WM 6.1, after I insert a SD in my Universal, I found that aa file generated automatically called "EncFiltLog.menc". It will continuous exist no matter I deleted it or not.
Anyone know what is "EncFiltLog.menc"??
By the way, I am using Transcend 16GB SDHC. Today, I found that my PPC can't detect it suddenly, I tried to insert it on my NB, but there are some files halt! When I double click it and wait for a moment, a messege box appear and say there are some problem about I/O device. No any device can detect my card now, anyone know what's the issue? I even can't format it now...
Please HELP!!
THANKS YOU VERY MUCH!
.menc files
.menc files are encrypted files.
When you set the option to encrypt files (Start\Settings\System\Encryption) then anything new that is saved to your SD card will be encrypted (and will have this extension - although this extension doesn't appear when viewing from the device that encrypted the files).
To read the file, you must view it via your device. (You can view/transfer it onto your PC via active sync from the device that encrypted it).
If you have reflashed your device without backing up your SD via active sync, then I don't think there is any way of recovering the file . (NB. I copy everything from my SD card to my computer before reflashing, and then copy it all back again ).
Hi my friend!
I had the same issue but with things 4.1 ROM. I don't know how, but i tried every day to format my sd card, and after 5 days it worked I have also this file in the root... It's the encryption file i think...
Mine was a 2GB panasonic SD not an SDHC... Keep trying!
Thanks for all reply!
But I found that I haven't tick the option of"Start\Setting\System\Encryption" , but the file still exist! I don't know why...
Any my SD issue....
I an using this ROM for few weeks already, but not newly flashed. My SD have no problem before. Haven't backup the datas is my mistake! I am so regreted. My SD is now can't detect from all device, and I can't format it also.
ALL DATAS ARE LOST!! Just wanna cry!
damaged sd-card!
Hi! Had the same problem with my new kaiser. Also thought about problem of ROM or the device itself. But it was just the SD-Card itself. Bougth a new one - no probs anymore...
any true solutions to this?
I have this same problem, so the only way to fix it is to get a new card?
Step By Step To Delete File EncFiltLog.menc (EFLG.m)
1) Insert your SD into Card Reader Cut EFLG.m
2) Paste insde your PC
3) Defrag your SD card
4) Select Option Tools>Folder Options>View Select Show hidden file
5) Now you can see new folder ie File 0000
6) Delete the folder
7) Now your SD card become as original
I read somewhere (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2718217&postcount=9) that the hidden file "EncFiltLog.menc" is stored on every SD-Card by WindowsMobile weather encryption is activated or not.
So it should be no problem to have it on the card - as long as everything works.

Invisible Files on MicroSD Card?

All of the sudden, all the files on my SD card went missing! I was transferring music and video files to the device over USB (as a storage card, per the custom ROM USB/PC feature) and after it was done, it showed my card as blank.
I took the card out of the phone (XV6900) and put it into my SD adapter and into my computer. The 4GB card shows that 1.8GB are in use when I go to properties, however, there are no files at all in the root of the drive! Like they are invisible! (Yes, I have Windows set to show all hidden and system files, so that is not the problem)
How do I get my files to reappear? It looks like they are not actually deleted! i don't get why this happened all of the sudden
you can try an undelete program and check the sdcard while in the reader
undelete programs can handle sdreaders just like they can hd's

I'm using the same 4GB card as my old phones. this never happened on my Titan or TouchPro, each of which I have for a year or so. I have had a Vogue for 1 week and it has happened twice! does the XV6900 wipe the card periodically or when performing certain actions? even on a ROM update/flash it should touch the SD card when running from the RUU package in windows

htc hd2 mail on storage card - wm 6.5

anyone know a way this works properly,
basically the registry has been tweaked to save mail to storage card, but when you reboot the phone the storage card changes to storage card2,
ive disabled sense/touch flo,
nothing else is is booting up in windows mobile
before i reboot though the mail does store on storage card, but when i reboot it makes a folder on the phone memory
how can i stop this once and for all??
manny questions on this but nowhere answers
+1
I have same problem.... no solution ... still working
I don't think there is a fix for this, its due to the way the hardware works on newer HTC devices.
Problem is when booting the phone, the registry is read before the the SD card is ready.
So when the phone reads "storage card" as a location and the card is not ready the phone will make a folder called storage card.
Now when the SD card is finally ready it want to call itself "storage card" but the name is allready taken, so now it names itself "storage card2"
ive sorted this when i had this problem
open up resco file explorer and you'll see that it sees the device memory, storage card and storage card 2. 'storage card' will be empty, so just delete it, then reboot. (dont rename storagecard 2).
when you turn it back on, everythings in order again
Old problem requires new solution
Hi,
This problem is happening in the old WM5 and previous.
The say to avoid the creation of Storage Card before the mounting of the real SD was simply removing the "messaging" application from the Today Screen.
Now, the solution seems to be different.
I hope we can find it soon.

thanks
Can you confirm that you have all mails in the storage card?
Please note that only attachments can be moved to Scard without this problem, and it is when you try to move all mails that after a reset the Store card 2 issue happens.

FOUND THE ANSWER!!
After many reboots etc.,
1.Delete the storage card on the device!
2.Eject the storage card on the phone and reinsert (while phone is still on). (check filemanager shows Storage Card Only)
3.Hit Windows Start, go to email, then menu, then options, then storage.
4. Tick "When available, use storage card to store attachments", Click OK.
5.Restart HTC Sense and Voilla all is fixed!
Are you sure your have now all maiLs in Sdcard, or only the attachments?
Hi all,
i found the solution! (actually all post help me find out).
SOLUTION:
1- remove your SD-Card from phone.
2- open file manager, you should see "STORAGE CARD". if you open it, you can see there are some folders for email (inobx.********).
3- delete all. "STORAGE CARD" & "STORAGE CARD2" &...
4- now insert your SC-Card. it will be "STORAGE CARD" :cyclops:
good luck

[Q] Internal Memory Card issues

Okay, I'm sorry if this should be in another forum, but I figured the minds in develpoment would have a better answer.
I have a G Tablet, running TnT lite 2.0.0 + 2.0.3 Sup, Launcher Pro, ES File Manager. I was trying to load some files onto the internal SD card using a standard USB connection to my laptop. It connected fine, I used the 'Mount SD Card' option that popped up in the notification section, and it appeard on my laptop fine.
The problem comes that I know the file structure of the External SD Card, Internal SD card, and System sections. So I KNOW I was looking at the Internal SD Card. I copied my files and deleted a txt file that was at the root of the card. Once I properly unmounted the card and checked it using ES Filemanager, none of the changes took place. My new files gone, and the deleted file still there and readable. So I pluged it back in, and the laptop shows the new files are where they should be and the txt file still gone. WTH?!?!
If I load the files the External SD (by removing it and moving them using a seperate SD reader), then transfer the files to the internal using ES File Manager, it works fine. I don't get it.
Okay, used the refresh option in Filemanager, nothing. Rebooted, now I can see the new files, but they have a 0 byte size. ??

Did you 'eject' the disk in Windows before unplugging the cable? Windows has been known to cache writes up and not perform the actual disk open until you eject or stop the device from the icon in the system tray. It caused me to lose some data on a jump drive, so ever since I make sure to force Windows to flush the cached operations by ejecting and waiting for it to tell me it is safe to remove.
The problem is 2.03. USB storage mode was broken with 2.03 and you will probably also notice some installed apps have vanished (another issue with 2.03).
Install 2.04 or the new and awesome 2.20. Both fix the problems. 2.20 is just as fast, but more stable than 2.03.

Issues accessing the external SD card for some apps

Guys, sorry to ask this, but I have some issues with some apps when they try to write something to the microSD card........for example: Titanium Backup says that any destination folder in the microSD is not writable.....
I´ve just rooted my phone with shoey63 assistance so I´m using the latest recovery, MM 291 with latest SU version.
In the particular case of TB, I had to do this trick to make it work:
In TB, go to Preferences -> Backup Folder Location.
Click on Storage provider at the top (it's not obvious that it's clickable).
Click on DocumentProvider storage. That will take you to a File Manager interface. You may have to click on the 3-dot menu on the top-right to enable the (external) SD card to be shown, then click the menu lines in the top-left and select your SD card, and click the "Select" at the bottom right. (You don't have to select your Titanium Backup folder here, you're just using this to get access to your SD Card.)
Now you should be back in Titanium Backup and you can browse like you used to to get to your preferred backup folder on your external SD Card
I warn you that using this Document Provider storage is much slower - at least it seems so for me. But, it seems that it's the only way to go for now.
Have the same problem with some other apps that say the microSD card lack of write permissions.
I´ve already flashed the ExtSD_Fix_rw-signed-v2.9b.zip fix a couple of times and the same scenario with RICDefeat.zip without luck. Just to mention that I can copy/move/delete files in the card using ES File Explorer just fine, but when I need to define a file/folder as the destination folder in some apps, they give me an error stating that file/folder is not writable.
Does someone could give me a hand with this?
TIA.
Alx
