I'm using Butler [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=464611 ] to use the extra functionality of the hardware keys ... the only thing missing for me now is the possibility to use the 2 top buttons of the touch pro [Home and Back] for the left and right softkey (that's the only thing I miss from the kaiser). Any ideas how to do it without AEB ?
And is there a program you can launch to go to the today screen?
I'd be interested in this also. Thus far Da_G's latest roms have been able to reprogram every button except volume, home, and back keys.
Unfortunately the Volume, Home, and Back keys give me the most trouble. I always keep my phone on vibrate and I never use the Home/Back buttons. Even a good way to simply disable these keys would be a start. I'd much rather be able to use my dpad without ending up at the today screen.
Although someone said they used AEB to remap the Home/Back buttons to ONLY function on a double tap.
i was just thinking about this. i noticed i could change long press for send and end as soft keys. not enough buttons on the device you know.
I also would love to be able to reprogram the home and back keys to be the left and right softkeys. There has to be some way to do it...
I did some more searching on this topic. Try DredSensor. It works for me so far.

If we can get the home, back button, set as left and right softkeys as well as set pressing the center button in as OK button then i would have zero complaints about my att fuze. Sometimes i turn my tilt back on just to use programs such as opera mini, life is so much easier with softkeys!

Yes im sure everyone is aware of dredsensor which is what i have to use when running opera mini on my fuze. What we are talking about is setting the home and back button as softkeys for good for all apps by default and also having the center button as OK as well. Do we really need a home and back button anyways? I mean we have touch screen phones, i can drag my thumb to get to home screen and press the center button to go back if set to OK button.
No we don't need an Home and Back button. The home button works the exact same as the End key. The back button is iffy. While I don't use it much, I'm sure "some" people do. There are the occasional situations when the back button is useful.
If you make the Center button "Close/Ok", then you won't have a select button. What WOULD work is set the center button to default, but do an "Close/Ok" on Center Hold.
I wish we had all the buttons unlocked to do what we wish. Using Home/Back as softkeys aren't a big deal to me, BUT being able to at least disable them or remap them in games would be sweet. (yes I know about DredSensor... I'm talking about permanent).
Another thing I am aiming for is a "virtual D-pad" using the touch pad area around the center button. Allowing us to navigate simply by making contact to the "hotspots". This would at least fix the problem with using the Dpad in games without ending up at the today screen.
If we could offload the navigational functions to the touchpad... then we could remap the buttons up/down to launch programs or whatever (left and right too).
So Pressing the buttons on the touchpad could launch apps or be used as softkeys or whatever but touching the touchpad would navigate.
Here is the thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473023
The last couple of posts have been playing down my earlier suggestion to use dredsensor to remap the home and back buttons to be the left and right softkeys (the topic of this thread). I'm not affiliated with dredsensor in any way, but I wanted to clear up this issue.
Since version 1.1 was posted on 1/17, you can in fact remap the buttons as stated above. In your config.ini file, for the [Default] profile with WindowTitle=* and ClassName=*, you have the entries:
HardKey_Launch1=Key:SoftKey1and
HardKey_Launch3=Key:SoftKey2
I'm not sure what you guys mean by "permanent" or "for good for all apps by default", but with this configuration these rules should apply in any app, which would seem to be what you want. I've been using this for a few days now and it works for me in the applications I've used. Anyway, it's just a suggestion. Maybe give it a try and I hope it helps.
i followed your suggestion..but i find the behavior erratic..sometimes it looks like it just goes to sleep and the keys are back to normal, and then out of nowhere starts to run again :\

From what I've read, there could be problems if you have G-Scroll installed, or maybe on some specific ROMs. Maybe post the issues you are having so that the developer can fix it in the next version.

Wanted to know if anyone has found the source to do this yet the guy who made lock2.0 He has done it.http://groups.google.com/group/lock2/browse_thread/thread/13c69be014e196ac
Have you tried rebooting after installing? Other users are reporting success after doing that.
Donate version only has the menu screen removed. Works great on my phone. Worth the donation. At least until A_C starts developing for android.

it works, donated version thought. and now has a password feature, its beta right now..
Maybe I'm a little confused here, but here goes.
I've tried downloading the free version just to see how it works, but I have NO idea where the heck to get different skins for this app?
Am I just a bit "slow?"

FWIW, how would you have it so that you don't press menu in order to get the swipe screen up? You would need to have the screen on at all times.
The difference between the paid/free versions are a nag screen. That's it.

Can't find it myself. There's talks of a "Skin Manager" - but I can't find it.
I should note that the Free version removes the menu as well now. He's doing the free versions 1-update behind the donate version. I didn't need to reboot, it worked instantly.

Power button. Iirc (don't feel like changing it back). Menu or power take you to the locked screen, this just swaps that screen for a slide-to-unlock.

Right, but this was a question for aad4321. Either the free or paid versions allow you to press any key to get to the swipe screen.
So I managed to get the different zip files with the backgrounds and whatnot onto my SD card and still no love when I attempt to change the theme or battery logo.
It says that it was successfully changed, then nothing happens. i've tried rebooting since then with no success either.
I was really looking forward to this type of app, I just don't dig the skull screen and grey swipe bar.
Lock 2.0 is a neat idea, but currently pointless graphical fluff as you can bypass the slide to unlock simply by hitting the home key. So pressing any button on the phone (home, send, end, back, or menu), pressing menu, and pressing home unlocks the phone.
If you were to take out the G1 default "press menu to unlock" screen, then pressing home twice would unlock the phone even with lock 2.0 installed.
Not to mention the fact that right now, the lock 2.0 home screen doesn't show signal (or even whether you have phone service at all), and doesn't show notifications. So I'd still want the option of bringing up the default G1 "press menu to unlock screen" until that's remedied by Lock 2.0

Mine shows the signal (upper corner) and currently activated devices (cell location / etc).
My procedure for unlock is:
Power Button to turn screen on > Slide to Unlock
Now mind you, I could very easily do Menu > Menu with the default G1. But I like to turn my phone on to see the time. The fact the default G1 doesn't allow for a background (a feature that I thought they definately should have included) on the lock screen kinda gives this program a boost for usage.
As far as I know, that is the same procedure the iPhone has (you press the one circle button at the bottom).
Seems like you guys want the screen itself to turn on to the Slide-to-Unlock screen by the sense of touch ..?

Those buttons don't have that same feature for me (I'm using the free version). The most I get when pressing a button from the lock screen is a popup that says "Free Version". I have to slide to get to the home screen, or hit Menu > Home Screen.
hmmm.. that does not happens to me.. i just tried pressing home twice and it does not unlock.. im using the donated version maybe happens with the free? :/
Looks good, but definitely has a lot of room for improvement. The menu still comes up for me, so I have to press menu, then do the slide to get out. I don't need an extra keyguard screen... :/
*Edit: The version on the market is newer than that on the site, I just tried and the market one fixes this problem.
HOWEVER, there is one other problem keeping me from installing it permanently-- the screen doesn't stay off, it turns itself back on by flashing the "Free version" notification -.-
Once I get a new credit card I'll try the donation version, pretty sure that will fix the problem since it will not be "free".
With the latest version there is an option for a password lock. You have to enter the password to access the menu too. Right now the password is 1234 only for now but once it gets updated it could lock your phone safer than the normal android lock.

Don't talk unless you have tried the newest version, which fixes all of these issues.
Hello,
I've been using my new note 2 for two weeks now.. and I like it so much
I also used sgs2 and 3 before.
I'm not new to android.. I flashed roms, know every single setting in the device, rooted my sgs2 and tried lots of apps to customize them.
Regarding my issue, I like to set my device to none screen security because I always manually lock it with a press on the lock screen button after I do whatever I want to do with it, and to unlock I always press Home button to get back to where I was immediately without the need to swipe the lock screen.
The problem is when I lock it and there is an app running and then press the home button the screen goes to home default screen and do not just unlock the screen and keep it there where I was last, this was not the case with my sgs2 or sgs3.
If I press the lock screen button instead it does what I want but I prefer to use home button because its much easier.
Its not a big issue but its annoying sometimes because sometimes I get popup notification windows while the phone is locked (whatsapp for example) and I press the home button to see it and instead of just turning on the screen to see the window it goes back to home screen and the popup is gone, or in cases where I'am writing an email or reading something and meanwhile talking to somebody, if the screen gets locked, If I press the home button everything is gone. So I have to switch tasks to open my activity again.
I don't know if this is a jellybean issue or hardware (homebutton).
I know its not a big deal but I would appreciate if somebody can help get around this

I've been on a variety of roms and I believe I was on liquid smooth or blackbean (both 4.1 versions) and changed the home button to unlock the phone and on home page to open the camera. Now im on synergy 147 and the home key functions have carried over after a clean flash. I don't want the home key to turn the screen on, I wouldn't mind it opening the camera when unlocked but being it's trying to open the aosp camera it just says application not installed. I can't remember what rom I was on when I changed the settings so I can't just rehash it and change them back. Can anyone tell me how to remap the home key duo that it does not turn the screen on and so it will open the stock tw camera or not do anything (single press while on home page) without switching roms? Or if not what rom I can flash to change these options back at least. I don't know why it carried over from a clean flash
Edit: forget the camera part I realized that was part of nova launcher from when I restored my backup homescreen, but still can't figure out how to get the home button to not wake the phone although I'm prob still missing something stupid to fix it

AppDog killed my tablet's home button functionality...
For those of you unfamiliar with it, AppDog pays you a couple cents at a time for trying out new apps (pays out in Facebook credits). I had tried it on Bluestacks and it worked just fine. When I tried it on my tablet, things got all screwy. Once I installed it, it took over control of my Home buttons. The on-screen home button would bring me back to AppDog instead of to Launcher, and the hard button now acts as a "back" button instead of "home".
I uninstalled AppDog, but it didn't fix anything. The hard button still acts as a back button, and the on-screen home button now does nothing at all.
How do I restore the functionality of the home buttons? It's a huge pain to have to manually back out of whatever I'm doing (esp. when browsing the web, as I have to back through every page I've visited)
My tablet is a 7" Craig model CMP741e running ICS 4.0.3, factory rooted.
A side note, I'm not sure if this was caused by the same app, but I'm missing some options in my Settings (i.e. Dev Options doesn't show up unless I'm plugged into my PC)
