Well, you better join the MSDN Forums for that! They have thousands of HOW-TO's, code samples and as well videos online ... !
I have
I have looked on MSDN and everywhere, and all the tutorials are so advanced and I do not understand and I dont want to copy and paste I want to learn the language, I mean I want to make a dictionary program, is there any speccefic tutorial which can help me with it ???
that's true, there are a lot of people who want to enter this labor market, so the oldie are making such entrance barriers, try to target different platform
Hmmm, strange!
I am not sure if we talk about the same FORUMS.
The Forums I am talking about are not only 'advanced' but to 70 percent I see newbies asking the same questions over and over again, just like here.
Sure, it is not easier there to use the search than it is here. Simple advice: Start building your project; if you get stuck, post your question / problem in the MSDN Forums and wait ... somebody will sooner or later defenitely reply, if not, the MOD will try either to come up with a helpful advice or point you in the right direction.

But I just simply want to learn how to make a dictionary in c# for windows mobile, and there is no help, I mean there are all these people on this forum who make loads of much more advanced apps and non of them can help me

Actually, the tools are the same as for normal Windows development. I use Visual Studio 2008 and you need to install the Windows Mobile 5 or 6 SDK.
Also debugging can be done right on your phone (via ActiveSync).
A good book is this one: Mobile Development Handbook
Hope that this helps in programming for Mobile phones. Have fun in your journey.

Hi,
I am new to programming and have been self learning c++ for the last few weeks. So far I have only coded command line programmes but would like to start creating some wm programmes.
I have searched the forum and read the various threads relating to ‘beginners guide to wm programming’ etc. from what I have read it doesn’t seem to be the most straight forward process in the world. To get started I think I need to find some win32 API tutorials, download eVC 4 (I’m not a student and not willing to buy visual studio 2005 or 2008) and start playing.
I have also been browsing the web and found some interesting alternatives; Qt and FBA. Has anybody used these? And are they any good?
Any advice which can make this learning process easier would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks.
Mind you, post questions in the Questions & Answers section of the forum.
thanks.. and welcome
I wouldtn't recommend you to use anything other than winapi or .net, as many of the devices are really slowwww.
MOD EDIT: Removed Rest of post
Apologies for posting in the wrong place .
Thanks for the reply holodila i think will try and get my hands on a copy of VS, it seems to be the best way forward.
Cheers .
i would like to start coding for windows mobile, i need to start pretty much from scratch, i know a bit about BASIC and thats about it
the best(and only) application i have written is one that tells the time and allows you to change the color
im willing to put quite a bit of time into it and i understand the dedication it takes,
basically im just asking for anyone to give me some tips for a noob, places to start, references, links etc.
heres a basic plan i have,
learn c# c++
learn about windows mobile api
play around with the sdk
have a look through some code samples
yeah so any feedback or tips from the pros would be great and hopefully i can contribute to this forum later on with some of my own goodies.
cheers joss

some links to some of the threads about your questions
Hello, xdaDevelopers (Is it like that? Or XDADevelopers, or XdaDevelopers, well, doesn't matter, you can leave your opinion about that here, too.)!
I can see this is kinda a common thing around here, but, I really need the basics for programming, with a final goal of being able to make code for Android (from APKs to ROMs and such).
I just need people to point out good sources of learning, with a learning curve, please, that would be a great bonus in understanding what the heck I'm learning, from the basic of basic, to the goal here intended.
Maybe this is a bit too ambitious, but I pretend to be a professional programmer in the future, but I still have a kinda long way to college (3 years), and I wish I could start sooner that, it could even make my college life even simpler.
Well, I hope you leave your enlightenment in this thread. Thank you very much for any opinion given here.
*bump* Sorry. It was already in the second page. I just didn't want it to fall into oblivion.
Well your going to have to stsrt learnibg java if you want to make apps. Read some books. Also take a look at thenewboston channel on youtube.
Im learning myself. You just need to start and don't give up

I'm also posting (lazy way of subscribing to this post). I knew java, although it was long ago. I'd need a refresh on everything. And then, knowing java is not the only thing you need, as you also need to know how to develop for android itself. Up to date, which book would you guys consider the most easy to follow to learn easily to program?
Thank you!
Yes. I'm asking for links or books (preferably e-books) that could have all that information. I just hope I can become a great XDA developer.

+1 to this. i would also like to get into learning how to develop for android.
google has a lot of info on their developers page, it's probably one of the better places to start.
i don't know many other good websites or books though. anyone have suggestions?
If you want to develop Application on Android. You will need...
1.JDK (Java Development Kit), which includes the JRE. ( I use Java SE 7 )
2.Eclipse with the Android Development ( I use Eclipse Classic 3.7.1 )
3.Android Development tools ADT Plugin for Eclipse
( I use android-sdk_r13-windows.zip )

java for the user interface "pretty" part of the apps, but the real heavy-lifting guts of the app (where the real magic happens) will normally be written in c

I'm watching these. These are great. Starting with Java Development.
Hello. I am starting to learn how to develop apps for smartphones, i have tons of ideas but onlu basic knowlage in C++, java and other languages used for creating them. Could some one help me to decide for which platform i should start? I want to start from easiest developing interface (i liked iOS, wp7), cheapest price in order to publish my app and when you do answer please tell me why (other pluses that i didn't highlighted and minuses). Thank you for your help and if i posted on the wrong section please move my thread. Oh and i am a student so if there are any discounts like for wp7 free access for students then do mind that too
so noone can help me?
Not sure myself
But I think Dreamspark has the tutorials to help you develop and you can go form there, I am interested as well just don't have the time.
I wasn't sure where anything like this would go, so I made sure to put it in a forum as general as possible.
I'm a beginning web designer, but seeing as I spend most of my free time on this site, I'm growing more of an interest in learning to code for the mobile platform. If anybody is willing to help, all I'm asking for is a few tips from developers here on where to begin.
I learned some very basic java in college, but was wondering if there is a better path to go on. Do I start with BASIC? Do I continue and go towards more advanced Java and stick with only one programming language?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
-Considering I've done almost everything that I can with my rooted EVO, all of you were the people I'd rather hear from. I appreciate all of the hard work that you all have done!
You can develop full market apps using the language I use called basic4android.
Its easy to use but very powerful, produces a native android apk (so no interpreters) and has regular updates.
There are free user contributed libraries that make it even better and it has been used to produce everything from live wallpapers and anti theft apps to games and gps software so is a good option to consider.
I wrote my first app after messing about with it for about an hour and was amazed how easy it makes things. Google basic4android and you will find its homepage for more info. I can't remember the address as it's saved as a bookmark on my pc not phone.
EDIT: did a google search and its at http://www.basic4ppc.com/
