Hi,
I could not find a menu item to toggle GPS on or off.
Is this permanently activated?
I would like to switch it of in case I don't need it...
Windows Mobile handles GPS automatically. It is off, unless some application is connected to it.

In the Comm Manager I have options of [ON/OFF] for Airplane Mode, Phone, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, MS Direct Push and Data Connection.
Should there be an option for GPS? Is there an option elsewhere?
Thanks,
Slarti
it's done automatically by the applications that use it.
you open a GPS application, it turns GPS on.
You close the application, it turns GPS off.
no need for a switch , cos if you don't want to use it, you wouldn't have any GPS software installed.
Strange things.
My Touch Cruise with TomTom 7.910 (9185) connects with gprs when I start TomTom.
Why is that? Can't I dissable this? I'm going abroad, and the gprs-connection costs too much in roaming...
tnx!
Where did you got this version 7.910 (9185) of Tomtom ?
I am interrested in a .CAB so I w'll test it and reply.
Thanks
its connecting to update such things as tomtom traffic and whatnot.... i believe that there is an option in there somewhere to turn it off
With my TTv7.490, I have the same (GPRS connection) when I enable "Assisted GPS" in Advanced Configuration v3.2 tool from Julien Shapman.
Just disable this option.
tnx! this could it be, the advanced configuration.
I downloaded the cab from this forum. The rip from the diamond

Assisted GPS, generally abbreviated as A-GPS, enhances the startup performance of a GPS satellite-based positioning system by using network (cell) data.
Therefore it needs connection via standard data transfer (GPRS or other) to retrieve cell information.
Don't know about TomTom, but iGO has problems working when A-GPS is enabled.
Anyone know how we can enable mock locations with the TnT settings? There is no option under locations or security. I want to use my Bluetooth GPS but it needs to use a mock. Is there a way to permanently set it on, or toggle with a widget?
Settings->applications->development
DUH...was looking in wrong sub menu! Working now, but had to use Blue GPS to get the pad to actually connect to the device. Thx for the help.
What is this blue GPS? I can't find anything like that in the market. I am trying to connect my Holux bluetooth gps module. It pairs but says it's not connected. I'd like to try this blue gps if I can find it.
I'm talking, with airplane mode on. Your wireless/mobile networks off, wifi off...everything. Would just using GPS enable you to still use Maps and Navigation?
Guess not, I did some driving around and it seems to need the mobile network to work.
Not very useful if you leave the country unless you want to pay those outrageous roaming charges.
GPS will work by itself but you will either have to download the map info using wifi for google maps or buy a navigation app like navigon.
When you do airplane mode gps is turned off too. Just turn off mobile networks and wifi and check.
Is it possible to automatically update my phone gps location to the same as my HU gps location?
I rarely turn on gps on my phone. Only use it on certain condition. But GPS will takes time to lock especially when I'm inside a building and not moving.
Is there any app that I can install on my HU so that it will update current gps location to my phone, maybe via bluetooth?
Thanks.
