Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has noticed this 'bug' with the keyboard backlight staying On, even in the 'closed' position?
I noticed it when looking at my touch pro side-on in dim light, and finally figured out how to replicate.
It basically seems to happen if you open/close the keyboard a few times without waiting for the 'lag' in the screen to catch up and change from landscape to portrait. The keyboard light will remain on even after being slid closed, and even after the machine is put into sleep mode!
It is sometimes fixed by opening the keyboard, letting the screen 'catch up', and then closing it again. But sometimes, this does not work. You have to open the keyboard, hit a key to make the machine realize that the keyboard is open, and then close it again.
I'm running the Australian 1.94 original ROM, and I noticed this both before and after using the SlideWakeup tweak for the keyboard.

I'm looking for a solution for a hermes, but assume it would be the same for wizard, kaiser, etc.
I'm often browsing the internet on my phone, and want to type just a few words without losing any screen estate to an onscreen keyboard, and without causing the screen to reprocess to landscape. I especially want to do this as I often have ms reader in the background, and it locks up the whole device while it repaginates the book.
Searching the obvious terms is just leading to people who want to rotate the screen without opening the keyboard - not want I want to do.
Any tips would be appreciated. I either want a way to lock the screen to portrait, or a way to make the device ignore the light sensor which tells it the keyboard is out (but if the keys could still light up, that would be a bonus.)
I`m using Opera, in portrait mode and I get keyboard to write -> the screen of my Kaiser flips in the opposite direction of my keyboard ._.
So yeah, this would be great.
if it works from a light sensor just cover it up with something maybe?
edit: it doesn't work lol, i also have this problem. my phone is too slow to handle this. i bet there's a registry setting for it. if i find anything out ill let you know
Okay, after further searching I found that someone had answered this question.

I now have rotate mapped to a button, (using spb pocket plus, rather than the program in the thread), so I rotate the screen manually when I want.
Lokioki - this solution will probably suit you for your opera problem.
Diamond Pro - fantastic piece of kit. I moved from Diamond to the Pro and have been happy with one exception that is beginning to drive me bonkers. I'm wondering if I'm the only one effected by this but essentially here's the issue:
* Reboot Diamond
* Pop out keyboard
* Select text or any other app
* Start typing... screen pops into portraits...
* Screen pops back into landscape
* Screen pops into portrait
* Screen pops into landscape
I have tried rebooting and I have also tried a few other ROMs to no avail - I'm thinking I could have some defective hardware - possibly the switch is not cleanly connecting to tell the DP that the unit has the keyboard out. The lighting on the keyboard comes off then goes off and then the other hardware buttons come on (normal portraits buttons.)
This problem is driving me insane as I cannot actually type something without the screen changing orientation. THE REAL SCREWED PART IS SOMETIMES IT WORKS FINE... then... just when I think the problems gone... BAM! Back to the jerky portrait dance in landscape keyboard mode! aarrgh!
I have tried pushing the left side of the keyboard up with my fingers while I type and this occassionally will actually stop the unit from switching back and forth (leading me to believe that it is a contact or defect with the piece that lets the unit know it's in landscape.)
Q: I'd like to avoid doing a general return replacement as I have flash the ROM and cannot find the original Telus ROM to reflash the unit to it's original state - anyone tried cracking a DP yet and and anyone with experience know if something like this issue can be fixed with some simple poking around?
Q: I searched the forum - didn't find this issue before - anyone else have this issue?
After doing some more testing...
It appears this ONLY happens when I use the hardware keyboard. Using soft keys in portrait mode works seamlessly... when I tap the hardware keys the portrait to landscape switching starts.
Hey guys,
I upgraded my ROM (Asian ROM) from 1.9xx.xxx (don’t remember what it is) to the latest 5.07.831.2 last night from the HTC HK site. ( I bought mine in Hong Kong)
After upgrading, TF3D still switches from Portrait to Landscape mode when I open the keyboard.
However, when I close the keyboard, the screen (TF3D) remains in Landscape. The only way I can switch from Landscape -> Portrait is to turn the screen off and turn it back on.
Any ideas on which registry settings might be causing this? Is it a ROM issue or could it be a registry conflict issue since I imported my old registry settings?
Thanks a lot.
Just wanted to add that I think the keyboard is also an, if not at issue
- Keyboard will awake phone when slid open
- Keyboard is active and will type
- Screen just doesn’t respond to being open/closed
Also, I tried using the Standard WM Today screen and the opposite happened: orientation does not change when I open the keyboard.
When the keyboard is open in both TF3D and WM Today Screen, the directional arrows function in landscape mode (down key moves downward instead of to the left. Up key moves upwards instead of to the right).
Nothing on this?
Okay... perhaps an odd question here... I'm running my Touch Pro2 with a default ROM and the default Windows Mobile lock screen. Here's my problem... I carry it in a holster that has a magnetic closure. When I pull it out of the holster the magnetic sensor in the phone thinks the keyboard was opened and rotates the display to landscape. After a few seconds it realizes the keyboard is not open and rotates back to portrait.
The issues is that I need to wait two-four seconds for this process to complete before I can use my phone. Granted, that isn't a HUGE time, but it is annoying. It won't register me attempting to slide it unlock when it's in landscape because it's thinking about going back to portrait. It would be nice to just force it to stay in portrait regardless of whether the keyboard is open or not. But of course the kicker is that it's only the lock screen that I want to act like this. Other programs should still swap to landscape if the keyboard opens.
Anyone have a clue how to do this?
Im looking for an app that will trick the phone that the keyboard is always slid out even if its not, so that the phone is always locked in landscape mode even if my phone is tilted in portrait. I kinda like the screen to be like that of Dell Streak where its always in landscape. But for me to do that i always have to slide out my keyboard and wait for the screen to rotate (slow at times, i hate waiting).
But when i leave my keyboard slid out, landscape stays on even when it goes on sleep mode. and when I wake it up, the lock screen is also in landscape. that is what i want.
im using Xperia X10 Mini Pro by the way. but probably a same app would work for other android phones with slide out keyboard.
If you know of any app, id appreciate it.
Thanks!
