I have htc mogul 6800 from sprint and would like to delete bubblebreaker.exe from windows folder so I or my family members can't access it again. It kills our lots of time.
I tried from tom's blog but it does not help.
Thanks.
You can't remove files form Windows folder
You can remove the link icon in star menu
Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Games
Using File Explorer
Or You can try create a empty text file on computer with the name of bubble braker.exe and replace usin Total Commander.
Sory but my english is bad.
But since BubbleBreaker.exe is readonly file can I overwrite with any other file?
you CAN overwrite it.
copy an empty exe file into your windows folder named bubblebreaker.exe
use total commmander to change the file properties from "read only" "rom" "system" or what ever may be checked and then delete.

i replaced it using Resco Explorer by just copying into the windows folder.
no need to change from read only...
Long Path error fixer solution

For personal reasons, I want to kill solitaire in my WM6 phone. Not just the shortcut, I want it removed from the Windows directory! Not to save money but to keep me from playing it !
It is a protected system file on board the phone - how do I permantly kill it?
I will just play one game of solitaire, then check if there is an answer - doh!!!
make a rom from scratch which dont include the exe files
I want to avoid making a ROM like that, but I guess that is the only way? I did not know this file was part of the ROM - Read Only Memory - so I have to live with it then ... any other way to kill it without damaging the unit?
try this.
install resco explorer.
look in the /windows folder and find out the name of the solitare executable. (most likely solitare.exe)
make a empty text file on your comp. , rename it to the the file you want to del. (from newfile.txt to solitare.exe---->the icon should change to that of an executable file)
copy this file onto your sd card and with resco explorer copy this file into the windows directory...it should ask you permission to overwrite.
reboot
Using Total Commander, go to folder \windows\start menu\programs\games\ and remove (delete) the lnk file related to Solitaire. It will not delete the executable but will make it invisible. Out of sight is out of mind!
The real answer
You need to get hold of self_control_v1.exe but I can't remember where I got it from. It's the same program that stops me eating too much.
LOL

Great minds think alike.
This won't delete the file, but it will mask it with another file. (The file is still in the ROM.)

it should actually delete the file (you are over writing it with another file of the same name)
Cool, it worked!
Or, at least I am not smart enough to find and run Solitare.exe any more ...
Mission complete!
Trial version of Resco did it, but it will run out in 7 days. Wonder if it is worth to keep it, now that I HAVE killed Solitare.exe?
I want to replace some of the .png files in the windows folder. I get a message that I don't have permission. I want to replace some icons.
Try to rename them and after delete. Sometimes works like this.
I don't have the option to rename. On the device (sprint touch) the delete and rename are greyed out. Using active sync, I don't have the option to rename. I want to replace the HH-FW_iconweather.png file to start with.
Thanks.
Use total commander or resco file explorer, these progs usually allow this operation
wow, total commander is a good app, I will keep it on the device. But, neither of the programs will let me delete the file. In resco, I can't see the .png files.
I found another thread of what I want to do:

where can i get - Resco File Explorer
Freeware CAB
If it is a ROM file you can't rename or erase it while being in windows. With Total Commander or Resco File Explorer you have the option to show only files that are not stored in ROM.
I suppose the files you are talking about are ROM files from a cooked ROM.
And how to...

Try , in Total Commander, to press and hold the file, in the menu press properties, then uncheck the read only box by clicking it twice.
See if that does it for you.
I unchecked first and tried but failed.
because it automatically checked(Read Only).
Any other solution.
Which dll files are you trying to move and what for?
File Name:"shellresapps.dll"
dont move them. you can copy anything, but you can't move file in use (such as that system file)
PS: becareful editing that file and be prepared for a hard reset if you screw it up
I can't copy also.
I was curious to see if I could copy shellresapps.dll with Resco File Explorer but I also get an error that it can't be copied .-
"shellresapps.dll" is the system file, you can't copy it to /windows folder, another way, first of all install SdkCerts.cab and make a CAB file with your "shellresapps.dll" and install to your device, becarefull, by replace system file your ppc maynot be restart and you have to HR.
I was trying to copy shellresapps.192.dll file in the windows folder to my memory card so i can use the program 'Resource Hacker' to take a look at it, because it contains the wait cursor animation and i want to try edit it. However, it seems all the system files in the windows folder can't be copied or moved or renamed AT ALL. I checked the properties and unticked the read only option as well as other option, but whenever i press ok it doesn't apply the setting, so then i clicked the 'Associate' tab and unregister any file association with the shellresapps.192.dll file and hoping that i'll be able to rename or copy the file this time, but it doesn't do anything. And since i was careless, i didn't check the file path or the file of what the file association with the .dll file is, so now it seems all the .dll files are not registered with any program that it should be.....
i'm using EnergyROM and i did this in Total Commander. Can someone please kindly look at the file association for the shellresapps.192.dll file for me?? Just go to properties and choose the "Associate" tab.
And can someone also tell me how to copy or rename the system files??
Ok, first off the .dll you wanted to copy out is not a file, it's a module. You can't copy them out of the rom to your sd card with total commander. You can do this with rom files, but not rom modules (I'll let you look up the difference). There is an app called 'romextractor.exe' that allows you to copy modules out. You might try doing it that way.
Anyway, the rest of your post gave me a headache, so I only barely read it. I kind of doubt you deleted the association for dll's (I don't even see an association on TC), but here's the reg key you may need. Check first to see if it was messed up.
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.dll]
"Content Type"="application/x-msdownload"
@="dllfile"
Cut and paste into a .txt file, name it and change the extension to .reg and import it if you need to.
i think i got it sorted by associating the .dll files with shell32.exe or something like that. You can check the association of a file by using Total Commander, right click on any file u want to check and go to properties. There you will see 2 tabs at the top, and one of them is Association, there you can choose to associate with anything as well as clicking on the X button to delete the association.

Yeah, I know, I'm just saying that I don't have an association for .dll's. You don't really need one with a .dll, because it's not a file that you open up for anything. You can change the icon to something else, though. I think you just need the registry key I posted, but I doubt that you changed it.
I would replace one file system in windows folder but it say me "access negate", I saw is a file "read-only" and because of this I haven't the access to edit it.
How I can edit it?

The built-in file manager doesn't trust us
Use something like Resco Explorer or Total Commander and you'll be able to overwrite most files in the windows folder.
