After Unlocking, what do I have now? - Palm Treo 750

Hi All:
I'm moving along! After a lot of reading, and a lot of worrying, I got my Treo unlocked!
Here's where I am at this point with my Cingular (USA) Treo 750:
I did do the Hard-SPL that is also known as "Cheetah Unlocker" , in the thread called "Hard-SPL Or How to (SIM) unlock & Protect Your Device", available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334100
I had some problems, but the biggest one was that I was not clear on the need to install .NET Compact Framework onto my PC and then to my Treo.
To be clear for anyone trying this, the .NET Compact Framework gets installed on the Treo!
So, I did run the Cheetah Unlocker, and ran all three steps. I put in my TMobile SIM, and it worked! I've since gotten Internet and Email working.
So far, so good!
Now, at this point I'm still running Windows 5.0. I would like to upgrade to Windows 6.0, but I'm not sure which version to use? Palm has a version specifically for my Cingular (ATT) phone. Up until 10/31/2008 it was available on the Palm.com site, but now needs to be downloaded from http://mytreo.net/downloads/treo-750-firmware,5114,0.html
So, can I, or should I, use the "official" ATT Windows 6.0?
The instructions for it say: "If you are not a AT&T Treo 750 customer, do not download this version of the software. It contains carrier-specific requirements that are incompatible with non-AT&T Treo 750s"
So, after running the Cheetah Unlocker, do I still have an ATT Treo 750? Or is it something else now?
The Boot loader says this:
CHE100
IPL-0.20
CHEE100
SPL-1.40.Olinex
However, the phone info says:
Software Version: TREO750-1.13-CNG
Firmware Version 1.16.00.00
Unfortunately, I didn't check to see what Firmware I started with, before running Cheetah Unlocker.
So, do I still have a Cingular 750?
Do I use the ATT Windows 6.0 Upgrade?
Thanks!

treo 750 2.25 -att
thats my software version on my treo. i would do the att wm 6.0 upgrade. you might have unlocked it but it still is a att phone. all you did is enable it to be used with your sim card from t mobile. in my opinion 6.0 is way better then 5.0 too. its worth the upgrade.

so will this update work for me my phone was unlocked how i dont know bought it off ebay unlocked, i want to upgrade to wm6 my specs are...
Software Version: TREO750-1.13-CNG
Hardware version: A
Firmware version: 1.17.20.00

Unlocking Vodafone V1605 / HTC TyTN / O2 Trion

Hi guys
3 questions
1. Can you use devices like the Qtek9100 and the Trion / v1605 without a SIM installed or do they sit like phones saying insert SIM. I'm getting one from Vodafone as an upgrade to my wifes contract but am on O2 myself and won't initially have a SIM installed.
2. From experience - do you think the Vodafone version of this device - the v1605 that I'm getting will be SIM locked and if so, do you think it will be unlockable.
3. Are carrier specific versions like this able to be used with generic apps - i.e are the customised to the extent that they don't operate like a non carrier specific version (eg imate) ?
Many thanks
Paul.
Yes it works without a SIM card...its a pocket pc in first place.
Most probably will be locked ... most probably the guys here will have a free unlock tool.
It doesn't matter that it is from vodafone, the RUU is the same. Cariers only add aplications and customisations.
Imate sells devices free of customisations (simple cab files) that you can remove once you have the extROM unlocked.
Cheers,
Raul

Guide on how to unlock an Orange TyTN II (T-mobile Vario III, HTC P4550, Tilt)

Guide on how to unlock an Orange TYTN II by UKBATMAN (from post #55)
Want another guide? See post #217
Please note this phone is also known as: HTC Kaiser (T-mobile Vario III, HTC P4550, HTC TyTN II, AT&T Tilt)
On your phone do the following START / SETTINGS / CONECTIONS / USB TO PC. Remove the tick “Enable advanced network functionality”
Using Activesync 4.5 to copy all your contacts / phone data to outlook Activesync 4.5 can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx
Removing the “SIM LOCK”, the mobile network provider of your phone could have added a “SIM LOCK”.
An easy way to check this is by inserting another network provider’s Sim into your phone, if your phone works please jump to the next step.
If not I was able to unlock my phone using the following link:http://www.imei-check.co.uk/kaiser-unlock.php
Additionally I believe user tupisdin can also provide this service for a nominal fee.
Or you could use OliPro's SIM/CID Unlocker or Jockyw2001's SIM Unlocker
Removing the “CID LOCK”, the mobile network provider of your phone would have added a “CID LOCK”.
POF has the answer for this, follow this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679
New ROM, once the “CID LOCK” has been removed you will need a new ROM, follow this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=331900
Locate and download RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship.exe.
Connect your TYTN II to your pc wait for the green ActievSync symbol and run the RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship.exe file.
The only thing I do not like is you get a splash screen saying “smart Mobility” Splash ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Kaiser/Splash/
Additional information and Rom’s can be found here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
I hope this helps, If anyone can locate new / updated roms please post the links. PS. I'm a newbie at flashing but I hope I have made it as plain and simple as possible for my fellow newbies.
Many thanks for xda-developers as I now have an Orange TYTN II unlocked and rid of Orange software.
Enjoy UKBATMAN.
ROM version: 1.56.405.5

Hi,
I've got myself an orange branded kaiser last week and managed to CID-unlock (thanks pof) and and SIM-unlock (thanks tupisdin) the device. but I've read few threads mentioning not to flash any rom to it no matter what. Just wanted to know if anyone has managed to flash a cooked rom sucessfully to an orange branded kaiser. Any gotchas, also is there an Orange rom as backup just in case for warranty.
Regards
lkw
Please help!
I hard-spl'd and ran the HTC RUU.. and after that the phone nicely restarted and asked me for an unlocking Simlock code...
WHAT? which sim card lock? I didnt change the sim...its an Orange UK one..
I tried looking for answers..but the topic seems to be all over the place!
is there a short answer?
Thanks
sim unlock
yes the short answer is you have your phone locked out of all networks
you should have read the forum before
but as you found the forum if you contact tupisdin and make a donation to xda he will unlock it for you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314547
you can get it from orange for £20.00 but it will take 3 weeks
sorry
steven
Thanks alot for the informaiton,
I got in contact with that member and he told me what donation I need to make... That its just after I got off the phone from Orange CS. I managed to get it off them for free (They tried charging me, but as im a silly heavy user +£100 a month for the past three years, they decided to let it off for free)
However, as you say, it might take 5-15 working days... therefore, I will have a rather fancy TomTom Navigator without a phone!!!.
I am trying to understand what went wrong.. how come it got locked up? and is there a way to undo this?
Taking a wild stab in the dark I would guess that orange have managed to do more than just change the os keeping the simlock in place however flashing to another rom may have scuppered that setup and as it has not found the orange rom it sees it as incompatible and therefore pops up the sim unlock feature of the phone to release the phone from orange.
bit of a sneaky way of doing things but highly possible if they have all the developer kit from HTC as to what they can do with the phone. It seems that the sim was linked to the rom somehow.
Russ
Hi
I plan on doing the same think with my Orange UK TyTn II tomorrow when I get it.
I am only flashing the OS...am I correct in assuming you flashed everything including the radio stack?
Thanks
Thomas
TYTN II Orange UK IMEI Change after Flashing with HTC ROM
I guess I did...
although I sepnet like 4 hour reading about what needs to be done... until when the sh$£ hit the fan..only then i started see all the bells and whistels mentioneing CAUSION... WARNING... DO NOT FLASH ORANGE UK!!!
Oh Welll
Now what is puzzelling me even more the following:
On the TYTN II box, there is a sticker with the IMEI number.. which is exactly the same as the one on the tag under the battery...
NOW.. after having flashed the thing...I checked IMEI thru Hardware details in settings... and surpise surprise: there are two more digits at the end of that same IMEI! so its the same number but with a 01 at the end...
What happend here? I thought a simple flash will not touch your imei...
Yet another thing to screw things up for OS Changers!
All Resolved.. IMEI code entered.. Phone unlocked.. Everyone lives happily Ever After!
A couple of weeks ago I was all ready for getting my new Kaiser from a website offering unbranded HTCs on Vodafone. The price of these was not cheap at £210 for the phone and £40 a month line rental but I was prepared to pay that just so I could get an unbranded, un-tainted version of the Kaiser, that is until I rang up Orange to cancel my contract and obtain the PAC code that lets you keep your existing number. During this call they offered me a free Kaiser plus a better contract if I stayed with them. I had a feeling that Orange might have screwed around with the software so I said that I would go into the Orange shop and have a look at one before I took them up on this offer. When I managed to get to check out the Orange Kaiser I saw that as expected Orange had completely ruined a perfectly good phone, AGAIN!
My question is how easy is it to debrand the Orange Kaisers. I've seen all the messages saying there's a big risk of sim locking etc etc. But I want to know from people that have unlocked their phones successfully/unsuccessfully how difficult it is. I've de-branded phones in the past so I have a decent understanding.
I also want to know how much of the Orangeness can be removed. Is it removed totally or are there still traces of the rubbish software left? Also how does the de-branding affect the phones features? Do you lose any of the features by de-branding?
Finally what are peoples opinions on whether to go for the free branded Kaiser and unlocking it or spending £210 for the unbranded?
Your replies will be much appreciated
Ben
everything of the orange **** can be removed. If you flash your ROM with one of the cooked here -or even the offical HTC ones- it's gone. Done it myself, now running Dutty's ROM. Go for the cheapest and get your cooked ROM's on this forum
You can install the HTC shipped ROM on an orange phone... I did this because I use windows live messenger and Orange have removed it from their ROM.
BUT...
You will have to pay to SIM unlock your phone (£20 from EMEI-CHECK or £25 from this site - don't even get me started on that)
That's ok if you build it into your calculations of the cost of the phone. Just remember, "de-branding" your phone with the HTC ROM will cost ya.
I'd highly recommend it... and downloading the TomTom taster too (another thing orange have removed - doh!)
why would he have to pay? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679

Because that only CID unlocks the phone which is different to the sim card lock which I believe engages itself when flashing a rom onto a orange kaiser the first time around.
correction;
FEATURES
SuperCID / Security Level=0
Does not check NBH signatures
Based on 1.50 MFG bootloader, rtask enabled
Accept any password
Model ID check only 4 chars
SPL overwrite DISABLED (to bypass, use SSPL-KAIS.exe)
SUPER-CID is mean can unlock carrier too. example.. use at&t tilt on t-mobile and so on

Sorry I not going to bite on this one I'm just ask you to think long and hard about what you have just said and if you have any free time read up on the differences of CID lock and SIM lock.
Im gonna have to agree with Ratcom...
I tried it myself..i got out of business for three days (that being my phone simlocked)
The CID unlock thread mate-y is talking about doesnt seem to leave Prange UK TYTN II any happy!...
I am now Running Duttys latest (with two russian imperfections lol) and its beautiful...If orange are offering it to you for fre.. id go for that and by loading duttys ROM.. you'd be well pleased!
If benl2k is happy to stick with Orange and use an Orange SIM , then (s)he won't need to SIM unlock it (although I'm sure that free SIM unlocking will come along in time if you keep checking out XDA-Devs).
The question was about getting rid of the Orange rubbish/crippling, and that can be done easily using the info on this forum...
bigchemist, what are the 2 imperfections you mentioned? Also how exactly did you get rid of the sim-lock. Am I correct in understanding that when you flash the Orange ROM it locks the phone so that not even your Orange sim will work with the device?
HARDSPL should be installed before flashing any ROM on your device.
Orange UK seemed to have made substantial changes to the Radio ROM of this device.
Any Orange UK Kaiser user should only flash the OS part of the ROM. DO NOT flash any Radio ROM until this has looked into further. Flashing any Radio ROM on an Orange UK device will result in the device being completely SIM Locked (even to Orange), unless you SIM unlock your device first. You can SIM unlock if you have already flashed an alternate radio but atm there are no free ways to do this. Have not tried flashing Splash screens but one would assume that this would be OK.
HARDSPL does not SIM unlock your device. It CID unlocks your device so you can flash alternate vendor ROMs.
tell me.......
so i take it once you unlock the sim lock - cost 20 quid, you can then do anything you want, like cid removal without any fear of locking the phone out again??? once its unlocked the first time, you never have to worry about a second lock popping out the blue????

which category of treo 750 my set belong to?

I bought a 2nd hand unlocked treo 750. at the phone it's printed cingular but when turning off the phone it show vodafone screen. I believe my firmware is not the latest. if I want upgrade my treo at palm website, which category should I chose? vodafone, cingular or unlocked phone? will I make my treo to locked again if I upgrade.
software version:
TREO750-1.13-CNG
Firmware: 1.47.02.00
any sifu here can help?
You should be able to go to Palm website and download the desktop updater exe. that is made for Cingular/ATT phones. I believe they will ask you to enter the IMEI number before download which will identify the phone as a Cingular/ATT phone.
Your phone will not be locked once you do the upgrade and I believe you are refering to SIM unlock correct ?
So just go ahead and go for it and do what you gotta do
Whatever issue you run into its more than likely there is a solution here in this forum
OK, Done.
Thanks a lot
in case someone who needs. This tread explain how to flash original software from any branded treo 750 (ATT, CNG) to unbranded version (RWE).

Sim Unlock

Hi,
Is there a SIM unlock available for the x7510 (T-Mobile Ameo 16gb) yet?
The only mentions that i can find one were posted back in october. I'm assuming the unlock for the x7500 and x7501 don't work (I tried them, and they didn't seem too)
I suggest a few points:
1) Stay FAR away from any such util designed for x7500 or x7501
2) Read the sticky at the top of this forum, ALL OF IT

I have been trying to get that unlocker to work, with no success.
I would appreciate any input on 3 messages beginning at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5148353 (or search on "SIM unlock Ameo 16GB").
I've given a lot of direct-quote error messages. I hope it helps.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Shared woes!
Hi rschwall,
I have been trying this for the last 2 nights with no success. As we have both discovered the Ameo16GBUnlocker file currently available from http://xacsx.de does not have a X7510 (ATHE400) compatible SPL bundled with it and the radio flash doesn't work with the 365 HSPL. By pure coincidence I have followed the same path as you at almost exactly the same time, you weren't trying to de-brand the phone to sell it before XMAS were you? (that was my plan) I am also on a T-Mobile UK Ameo 16GB. I have since reverted the machine to a stock ROM (NEW: WWE (english) 3.29.707 ) linked from Post 2 in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441684), and then reverted to the stock SPL in post 1. I tried again with the unlocker and still had no joy, so last night I ordered an unlock code from an external supplier. I have received a code and when I get the opportunity to try it this evening I will let you know if it was successful. I'd rather pay a small amount than waste too much of my time. I like a bit of a technical challenge but I do have a life!
I look forward to being able to give you a solution later, even if it involves paying someone else a token amount. I did not buy it from the suppliers you list. I am wary of buying codes online since I paid for a Nokia N73 unlock code many moons ago only to receive no code but a bland statement that they couldn't provide one but I might like to try a few other things instead, after they had secreted my money to some place well beyond my reach. This time I have used a supplier who at least appear to have a track record and a payment method that I can recall if necessary.

I also got an unlock code from gadget_international (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170419501439&_rdc=1).
I put in my T-Mobile USA SIM and restarted the Ameo 16GB. When I got to the window labeled SIM Lock, it displayed, "You have tried 23 times, please wait until timeout..."
I gave up waiting 65 hours later. I've got no cell phone while this thing has my SIM card tied up.
I have called T-Mobile USA support. Although their agent gave it a serious try, he figured only the guy I bought the phone from or T-Mobile UK could help.
I have called T-Mobile UK support. Although they were polite, they said that they can't help me unless I have a T-Mobile UK phone number. They were amazed to hear the number 23. They believed the SIM card would be permanently locked at 10 tries. (The SIM card still works fine in my HTC Advantage x7501).
I read the Athena 1.5 Service Manual. The Assembly / Disassembly instructions include several frightening precautions, including recommending that 3 parts be replaced and not reused, but it only calls out 1 of them in enough detail (the power button). I think I'll turn back now.
I'm stuck. Any ideas?

Found some old phones the other day... (Flashing & unlocking)

I found my old AT&T/Cingular Audiovox SMT5600 and 2125 and was wondering about SIM unlocking the devices. I know they have to be AppUnlocked, but is it best to flash the ROM first to one of the cooked ROMS from here? I have the same question about my T-Mobile Dash (retired now).
I've got a list of sites I've started to compile for SIM Unlocking these phones, I have the Dash unlocking site at home bookmarked I think.
Audiovox SMT5600 (HTC Typhoon)
http://selberg.org/2005/07/22/unlock-an-audiovox-5600-for-free/
Cingular 2125 (HTC Faraday)
http://karhoe.net/guide-upgrading-htc-tornado-to-windows-mobile-6
T-Mobile Dash (HTC Excalibur)
WM 6.5 ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523718
SIM Unlock:
Is it better to flash with one of the cooked ROMS from this site prior to attempting to use a free unlocking tool? I'm running Vista 64bit at home, anyone know if the tools will run on that OS?
