The 16 GB Micro SD on the X7510...does it work ???
If yes, any comment as to speed especially on watching videos and playing music. I have my X7510 setup that all my necessary files and programs were installed in my Flash Disk, so the only thing that is going in the Micro SD card is music and videos.
It is also cheap now... at Amazon it only cost 63 USD.

I have had some troubles with Sandisk 16 micro SDHC (via a converter to mini, of course), purchased about a month ago. After two weeks of joy it just decided to disappear all files on it. Yesterday I have got a replacement, will see what happens.
The user manual say SD card, not going into details, so SDHC may be a problem, although SDHC for X7510 is mentioned most everywhere else.
If you got some hard facts, pls. let me know too, and vice versa.
Cheers.

Thanks for the update. I will be purchasing one soon.
Do you use WM5torage? Because on my X7510, that software does not work properly. Does not matter what version I use. It might be the culprit on yours.

Nope, I use either the regular ActiveSynch or connect using that second option
(settings/connections/USB to PC/ Disk Drive). I am quite unhappy with both, in fact - the first is too slow and fails unpredictably when large volume are copied, the second shows only the Flash Disk and tends to mess up the HTC when you disconnect.
So I have decided today to try out the nueMassStorage:

Anything to be aware of re the SDHC card?

Let us know how the nueMassStorage application works on your X7510.
From my experience with my SDHC card, NEVER format it using your computer. Use a compatible card reader or if ever you get WM5torage to work properly, use that with the micro SDHC card in the X7510.
There is another option, SOFTICK CARD EXPORT: http://www.softick.com/pocket-pc/cardexport2/
It's not free though.
Hi all,
I use my X7510 since a few weeks with a 16GB MicroSD with MiniSD adaptor.
I use it everyday with iGO 8 navigator installed from the SD card and I have no problems.
I'm waiting feedbacks about nueMassStorage also to see if we can have direct access to SD card from the PC.

Thanks for the tips. Re SOFTICK CARD EXPORT: I have used it with my now defunct TREO 650, and it is not very speedy. So I shall skip it for now.
About the formatting of the card: in any case when I have tried to format it (straight from the shop) on X7510, formatting was prevented for some mysterious reason, so I can't do it in any case.
nueMassStorage is a cool one. It created a second "USB to PC" icon, identical to the original one, in the Settings/Connections (well, I wish it were a bit different, but it's not a big deal).
It connects only to the storage card, which was a surprise, otherwise it works perfectly well and when disconnected doesn't cause any hiccups on HTC side.
Another small issue - there was supposed to be a popup that is triggered when you connect the synch cable, but it doesn't work so far.
So for small files I can use the regular synch, and for big ones - nueMassStorage. It means that if I need to load a big file to the flash disk, I'll have to copy it first to the storage card and then move it to the final destination. Not very convenient, but better than nothing.

It connects only to the Flash Disk for me, although the first time I ran it, it connected to my 16 GB Storage Card; after that, it always shows the flash disk.
You can find the Pop Up if you look in the Windows folder and look for nueStoragePopUp.exe file. You can create a shortcut under Windows/Start Menu/Programs/"to whatever folder you want".
After that you can ran the shortcut and a Pop Up Notification will appear with 3 options.
UPDATE: The Sandisk 16 GB Micro SDHC on a Mini Sandisk Adaptor works great. I love it.
Thanks for the tip - created a pop-up in the Resco Today Plugin, it works as prescribed. Still shows only the storage card, though.
I guess it is decided on the dice throw ;-)
Happy New Year!

i need a software that can format my qtek 9100 memory card as there is no option on my ppc that offers to or allows me to format it. so pleaze let me know.
get the sdformatter from panasonic. It works perfectly and properly. Since you have an HTC Wizard, Make sure to format it in either FAT12 if 512mb or under or FAT16 if over 512mb. This is the proper formatting per the specifications.
Also, please make sure that you do NOT have an SDHC card. If you do, please return it, and buy a regular SD card.

can i install this software on my qtek 9100 or is it for my pc?
It is for your PC. There is a formatter around somewhere that will run on the PPC, but I don't remember the name of it. It was included in a rom I ran long ago.
maaaan, well if u do remember it or so then please drop me a line a'ight.
I don't know of any PPC app that can format a card (never needed one), but if your problem is that you don't have a card reader then you can run WM5Storage on your phone. It'll make your card look like it was a USB flash drive when you connect the phone to your computer via USB, instead of running ActiveSync.
This makes your phone act as a card reader and you can format the card as a usual drive (on Win, you need to right-click the drive in My Computer and there's formatting option there).
Not exactly what you wanted, but might help.

Hi all,
How to use my Cruise as a Usb Mass Storage device? Are there any free alternatives to WM5torage (which does not work in WM6.1)?
I tried Diamond's UsbToPc cab, but it does not work. There's also nueusb (no2chem_usbtopc_mass_storage), but I can't find a cab for it, just OEM (and I don't know how to install it).
I know CardExport works, but it's not free.
I use Mocha FTP (free)
http://www.mochasoft.dk/freeware/ftpd.htm
works wireless or via USB.
Take NueMassStorage. it's perfect.
http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/page/Pocket-PC.aspx
NueMassStorage doesn't seems to work on my Polaris (stock ROM, WM6). Most of the time the device is, indeed, detected as mass storage, but without any actual storage volumes on it. Sometimes the PC actually detects a storage volume and mounts it, yet the mounted drive remains inaccessible/unreadable.
The only solution i found to work so far is Softick's card export, yet, it costs $14.95, this is comparable to a regular card reader price, while it's speed on Polaris is about 8 to 10 times slower than an average card reader, and is only a little bit faster than transferring files via activesync.
IMHO, just get one of those nifty cards that come with a small compact reader, and keep the reader on your keychain.

It also happens when i put music on there some times. What do i need to do to get this to work?
Have you tried it with a card reader already?

Hmmm...officially your phone is supposed to support upto 32GB. What does the error message read again? How are you trying to transfer media from your desktop to your phone? What happens if you were to pop your memory card onto your computer and directly put stuff onto it?
I got the same error on my new card today as well. However, if I transfer directly from PC into the phone via activesync, the phone recognizes the card and works ok. It is only when trying to transfer from the PC to the card via a card reader that it does not work and gives the error. I suspect that the adapter I have is for a MicroSD card, not a MicroSDHC, and that might be what is causing the error, or that the card reader built into my computer cannot work with the SDHC format, only the normal low density format. Of course, this is just a guess, since I can transfer via activesync all is OK.
I transfered some pics to the phones internal storage using it as a mass storage. about 1000 pics and it took about 30 min. not only did it take long but they dont look the greatest on my phone. Am i doing something wrong? is there a better/faster way of transfering? using windows Vista btw.....
I put movies, music, pics, and other videos on my micro sd card and just insert that into the phone. Works perfectly fine!
thankfully my laptop has a built in card reader so i just use that to transfer files to an external micro sd card. its much faster than transferring over usb.
You could also install Swiftp and FTP to your phone over wireless.
The cable works well in my opinion and you need it to access the internal storage, If you go the card route make sure you unmount first or any open apps will immediate crash if they rely on any data on the card.
the other nice thing about the internal card is that you can keep all your app data on that and your media on the external and it keeps everything nice and clean.
and ofcourse when your external is full just continue on to the internal
if you use cubed (^3) for mp3, its awesome and can auto find album art, it'll automatically add from both sources
Unfortunately it won't be free forever, but it might be worth the investment. Doubletwist is a pretty excellent application. It's basically Itunes for Android.

that sounds like abnormally long write times.
Is your computer old? does it support usb 2.0?
have you enabled developer's console on your android and mounted your sd card via the notification menu when plugging your phone into your pc?
lastly, download samsung kies and get their drivers for the phone as well..
yes its 2.0. its an HP about 2 years old. maybe i didnt mount it, i cant remember. I just dragged and dropped. Wasnt sure if its an advantage using Kies or just doing the drag and drop method. Also is it better to keep everything off the internal if possible or does it matter? Just wondering how everyone transfers. tried to drop 3,000 songs the other day and it was like 3 hours! not at home right now so cant try it.
Hello, I'm new to the forums and I just have to say this place is amazing and what with all the dev's and ROM's available and a great community overall.
To get to the problem that I am having currently with the SGS4G. I recently got the device, and I haven't got a SD card so its just the device itself for now. Well I try to connect the device to my laptop which is Win 7 64 bit. It didn't recog. the device but a popup came up saying that it was installing the drivers, I let it finish and tried to go into the device but when i went into My Computer to open up the device which is USB Connected using the Mass Storage option, nothing came up. Just a G drive icon with no name, just the icon thats it.
I then realized I should have installed the drivers for it first, so I installed the drivers found here for the 64-bit option as my laptop is running 64-bit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
I installed driver, but same thing happened as the above, nothing appeared when going into My Computer, just the icon and a pop up window that said "Please insert a disk into removable drive G".
Then I tried installing from the same source as above, but this time using the 32-bit link and the same thing happened as the above. I have tried to do the both with the USB debugging enable and disabled, then connected with USB to laptop, but no difference. The laptop see's the device when I go to Device and Printers, but the thing is the "My Computer" doesn't recognize the device or can't see it or the G drive doesn't see it.
I have tried unplugging the USB plug to the different USB ports on the laptop, but no good either. I have turned off the phone, plugged USB in and turned it back on but no good the laptop still doesn't recognize it. i have rebooted the laptop also and then tried everything above, but still no good.
If anyone can help out at all this would be greatly appreciated as I am going slightly insane with touching the device so much and trying to figure out a solution. I know it is not the Vibrant but the drivers from the link above is for Galaxy S devices it says. In case I didn't say so before, this device was rooted with Superuser evident in the Applications.
Oh please if anyone can help thank you so very much. Sorry for the first post being so long, but wanted to get as much detail as possible in here so I don't have to congest the thread later on with answering back and forth and wasting precious time.
One last thing, I rooted the device myself before on a Win XP machine, and everything was fine the XP machine recog. the device and everything, if that helps. But now I am on a laptop and received the device from my sister as she has got a new device.
Umm. Have you gone into the options on your phone where it asks you what usb connection type you want? The options it shows should be something like Kies, Mass storage, and two other options. I doub't mass storage would work for you, as you say you don't have an SD card. It might be the reason it's not showing up. Your computer is recognizing it if it's showing it when you click "my computer", but I think you have to have an SD card to actually open it up.
I'm not sure though, so don't take my word for it. Wait for a dev to chime in.
Not sure what you are trying to do but download airdriod from the market. No need for usb and I think it's faster than usb as far as transferring
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA
Using your phone in mass storage mode basically turns it into an sd card reader. Since you don't have an sd card in the phone windows is telling you to insert a disk (sd card) into the drive (your phone).
You're gonna need an sd card if you're gonna modify your phone in any significant way. Even a 2 gig sd card will be enough to flash new roms, etc.
Thankfully, microSD card prices have fallen significantly over the past year or two.
I've had good luck with the Transcend cards, either the Class 6 or Class 10 ones. Right now, you can buy a 16 GB Class 10 card through Amazon for about $15, delivered. They aren't a lot more than the 8 GB cards.
I haven't found a 32 GB card that performs as well as these, especially for smaller read/write sizes, which I believe to be important for day-to-day responsiveness. The 32 GB cards (Class 6 or Class 10) are still usually more than twice the price of the 16 GB cards.
I find a USB microSD reader useful as well. I've had good luck with the Elago Nano readers (in white or black), as well as the Transcend 9-in-1. I'm sure there are many others that work well. In my opinion, you don't need USB 3.0 for a flash reader as the bottleneck is likely the microSD card, not the USB.
So from general consensus, it seems like I need an SD card first before I can do anything. Well, I just ordered an SD card from Amazon and it will be here by the end of the week. What i was trying to do was try to get files to store into the devices internal memory which has space free. I thought there was a way to transfer some files from my laptop onto the devices internal memory. is there any way to do this besides having to use an actual SD card? Just wondering. If it helps I have Airdroid installed now.

You can use adb (part of the Google-supplied Android SDK) to transfer files and execute commands on the device, but it is not a terribly user-friendly process if you aren't a command-line user.
ah. Thanks for all the help, I'm going to wait till the SD card arrives then guys.
