So I was changing some registry values using Total Commander and I accidentally changed the name of a folder...
I know I was \\Plugins\registry\hklm...
i accidently renamed a folder "x" from whatever it was before...
The folders I have in the \hklm directory are...
Audiocompression
buttonapps
comm
controlpanel
drivers
drivers32
explorer
extmodems
HARDWARE
IDent
init
Loader
MUI
nls
Platform
Security
Services
Snd
Software
System
TAPI
Telephony
Text
Time
Windows Ce Service
Windows CE Tools
Does anyone see a folder missing that I probably renamed "x"?
*Gulp*...im scared
BTW: im running stock att rom
thx in advance
That looks like exactly my list, except that you have a "Text" where I have none. There's nothing missing from your list that's present on mine.

Hi all,
I just sucessfully installed big storage on my O2 mini and was wondering how i can change the default directory to which my software installs. The software is Imaginet-arabitizer and it uses a PC-based installation. No cab files...
Help please....
help
you can only whether you want to install a program to a default location, storage or a storage card. it will ask you in the beginning of installation by ActiveSync. choose NO and install sonewhere else.. gl
Still no luck....
Unfortunately, this particular program does not use the active sync user interface for the installation....
Any other methods?
i saw a shareware program on the forums once that did that... wish i downloaded it then cause i cant find it again sorry .. thought id let you know its out there though.....
aidil916 - unless it's some kind of ROM update etc, anything that gets installed on the PPC must always use a cab file, even on PC based install. So, start the install, and does add/remove programs or something come up?
Either way, if it installs something to the PPC (i've no idea how the arabizer works), interrupt the installation or somehow stall it. Then use a program like Filetracer or even the XP search tool to find any cabs installed to your pc in the last few minutes. Track down the cab (usually in your temp folder, programs folder or activesync folder) and then take a backup copy of the cab. Then, copy that to your PPC..
Tell me how it goes.

Usually when you perform PC-based installation software asks you for target location but some programs are hard-coded with "\Program Files\ProgramName" path so they will fail to work if you place them to another locations, i.e. to Storage Card
For programs that don't allow you to change target location you can change their registry entries to correct their path from "\Program Files\" to "\Storage Card\Program Files\". Here you will also need to manually move your program to a new location (SD) using Explorer's copy-&-paste functions
ps: don't use cut-&-paste because some of your programs may be running and this will cause sharing violation errors
Example, I have program "ABC" installed at "\Program Files\ABC" folder.
1) Using Explorer I navigate to "\Program Files" and COPY "ABC" folder to clipboard
2) Now I navigate to "\Storage Card" and create folder "Program Files"
3) I open newly created folder "\Storage Card\Program Files" and PASTE my "ABC" folder from clipboard here
4) Using Registry Editors I search for "\Program Files\ABC" entries and change them to "\Storage Card\Program Files\ABC"
5) I do soft-reset. If after that program works Ok, I delete "\Program Files\ABC"

Check your activesync's installation location. You will find the cab file within Software name or company folder, like "C:\program files\microsoft activesync\ABC"
Cheers

There are 3 methods i use,
1st is download the CAB file if you can, copy to your PPC and install with a program called CAB Install http://www.s-k-tools.com/fp/viewtopic.php?t=44 which allows you to install the app anywhere you want.
2nd is to run the standard ??.exe PC installation file but without your PPC pluged in. After the ??.exe install file is finished it will normally produces a CAB file on your PC which will copy across to your PPC next time you plug it in. All you need to is to find the CAB file and manually copy it to your PPC and use CAB Install.
The 3rd way is to do the same as 2 above and then use an app called WinCE CAB manager which you can generally modify the CAB files standard installation directory to what ever you want to.
Hope this helps
Most software including PC based installs eventually use CAB files. For this I use a small program CabInstl.
I have searched for hours on this, and I bet it is right under my nose, but i could not find it.
I upgraded my BJ2 with windows mobile 6.1 standard. I have added PHM reg editor, CHome Config. I cannot edit the reg, and chrome config gives me errors when starting saying it can't write to reg.
I am trying to figure out how I can edit my cpr files cause right now, 6.1 will not let me over write or edit the file.
Any idea of what I am missing?
TIA
-Z-
Ok i figured out how to make the CHome Config work. never mind that worked for 1 time. but i can't make it work again. getting error back on CHome Config again saying it cannot write to registery.
this is what I did for that:
HKLM/Security/Policies/Policies
key 00001005 changed value 16 to 40
still can't get the *.cpr file over wrote or copied to the windows folder. The error says I don't have permission to replace it.

You can't overwrite it via WMDC anyway
To unlock a registry to overwrite it via ActiveSync or device's File Explorer (Resco Explorer):
Download regeditSTG2 which is digitally signed: http://4pda.ru/forum/attach/387522/regeditSTG2.zip
Then install it and change some registry values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 = 2
-> change to 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 = 16
-> change to 40
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\00001017 = 128
-> change to 144
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Security\Policies\Policies
-> create new key "0000101a": Dword = 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Security\Policies\Policies
-> create new key "0000101b": Dword = 1"

What app are you using - WMDC or ActiveSync?
ActiveSync - but wait, i am on vista so really I am using WMDC
I can't use activesync on vista.
I tried using the file explorer on the phone.
I first try to copy the edited file over the no edited file.. Error - I am making sure that the home screen is not set to Sliding panel, as I am trying to edit the CHome_320x240.cpr file.
Next I tried to delete the cpr file from the windows directory - Error - You can't delete file from rom
Then I tried to rename the file in the windows directory, still won't work.
I am not sure on this, but I have read people are editing these files, I just don't understand why I can copy mine to my PC, edit it, but I can't get it back on the phone.

Thank you Erofich
All works fine now. I'll pass the info on to anyone else that needs the help

Hi, Can you plz share info on how to delete or overwrite files in the windows dir for WM 6.1.
Thanks,
How did you manage to edit the registry? I changed one value (0000 1005 to 40) and now I can't edit anything else. Several programs I've used flat out won't let me change the registry. I keep getting "access denied" on all of them.
Dear All.
I am using HTC Home Plugin v.2.10 which allows to modify tab quantity.
I am very pleased with this verison. It's working fine, ecept brigthness function, but there is a solution for it, I don't need it, because I don't use to change brightness from HTC Home.
I need only to change Install Directory on this verison. It's not possible. After changing default install directory from /HTCHome to /Program files/HTC Home nothing appears on the screen. I have tried to make soft reset several times, but no result.
Who can change default install directory /Program files/HTC Home
for HTC Home 2.10?
Please...
I am attaching cab file to this message.
Thanks in advance.
you can unpack it using Package Creator and then repack it using the same app or CeCabManager
Thanks, I will try ...
Didn't work. Same problem.
If change install directory to /Program files/HTC Home the Application HTC Home doesn't appear on the device screen...
how did you initially change the installation directory?
I have never changed installDIR before. I used ready cab file.
But I don't like when programs(software) are installing to other directories. I like to see all the software on Progam Files folder.

I have changed installdir with help of Win CE Cab Manager.
On the files selected all files which were on /HTCHome directory and changed to /Program Files/HTC Home
It seems that it was not enough, it's needed to change some other setting but which settings I don't know.
Hi!
The free memory of my device is getting smaller and smaller, althought i havent installed too much apps and not to much files.
I've been searching for a reason and found the file
/DebLogger/cprog.log
wich has a size of 26 MB
Can i delete it? Does it contain anything important?
Thanks! Cheers!
ok, after killing the process cprog.exe i was able to delete the file.
but after some usage it starts to grow again...
how to disable this?
thanks alot! cheers
You probably have a memory leak somewhere...
hmm... that means? and what can i do?
thanks!
nobody any idea?
Did you cook your own ROM? Or you using a cooked ROM or stock ROM?
yes i'm using a cooked rom and installed a lot of system changes, for example the new Phone Canvas from the mega pack...
I'm suffering the sme issue here: cprog.log is now 40 MB and i'm almost out of storage space!
me too, not a virus I hope
Yep. Mine is nearly 60 MB and growing.
I'm running TPC's cooked version of WM 6.5, if that matters.
Jack Vinson
ROM: TPC_V10_MEGA (WM 6.5)
Radio: 1.70.19.09
Phone: Kaiser 8925 (AT&T Tilt)
has anybody found a good solution yet?
true de task manager, you can kill cprog.exe and then delete the "big" cprog.log file but what after a restart??
And when i koll cprog.exe, my phone doesn't ring or vibrate anymore when i get called or receving a sms...
Have you tried searching your registry for "cprog.log"? Maybe you can shut it off.
cprog.log same problem
Got same problem !
P3600 HTC Cruise with WM 6.5 Pro cook rom pcarbalho exteme devs. Yesterday was unable to start device ... after various reboot finally started, and with the explorer in an ActiveSync connection :
renamed \DebLogger\cprog.log
restarted again
and finally ... delete the renamed file
have proven to remove the directory, but after restarting again, it re-create the directory and the file start growing again ...
Any solution?
This thread suggests some Registry keys to edit, which I just did. Basically, set everything to OutputEnable of 0, rather than 1 in the DebLogger registry unter HKey_Local_Machine/Software/HTC/DebLogger. This doesn't prevent CProg from running, though. so I don't know if it will keep the size in check.
I also notice another large file that is updated all the time in My Device root directory "pim.log". Anyone know what that is? (pim = Personal Information Management?)
Jack
Solution
Hi, i've found the solution in the TPC thread, someone found the way to delete cprog.
- With Registry Editor go to:
HKey_Local_Machine\Software\HTC\Deblogger
delete the whole Deblogger folder
- Soft Reset
- Delete the folder Deblogger with cprog inside in the Device Memory.
You have no more cprog growing and the mobile runs smoothly.
Do this procedure again if you do a hard reset, because the Deblogger is cooked inside Windows 6.5 build.
I think chefs will remove the Deblogger in their future ROMs.
Additions to the resolution process
Had this issue too... system became gradually slower and suddenly had run out of space ("you are running critically low on storage" kind of message).
Before I could delete the large file I had to install and run a task manager on the mobile and terminate/kill the "cprog.exe" application/process.
Cheers,
Daniel
Hmmm...for some reason I've started getting this issue, on my PDACorner Ultimate (WM 6.1)! Dont think its limited to 6.5 then!

Is no need to delete all the folder "HKey_Local_Machine\Software\HTC\Deblogger"
GO TO
HKey_Local_Machine\Software\HTC\Deblogger\zone\deblog\outputenable and modify the key to 0. restart the device and delet the file from main memory
changing the value to 0
Nykoon: I did just that and cprog was still growing. I remove the whole folder and that did it
cprog / deblogger
When I disable or delete the deblogger registry folder and delete cprog, my Pocket e-Sword program doesn't work. Will try again.
Using a Kaiser hTC, windows 6.1.

The only thing I can think of is to trick windows mobile into making a network shared folder with localhost as the computer.
