T-mo UK pushing out G1 OTA Updates - G1 Android Development

Just woke up this morning and turned my alarm off on my G1.
When I took a second look I had a notification of an update avalible. As a method has been found to get root with the lower firmware, im going to hold off the update and rename my certs ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=443328 )
Im unclear at what version number this UK update will be, but take it that if the downloadable update is released, then this can be altered to still allow root access (ala JF's rc30 update)

Yeah, there's a couple of people over on the google group for android saying they've got the update. can't get one of them to post the full build so we can start to yank it from google yet though. Could you see if it's in /cache on your phone?

Looks like the uK build is kila_uk-user 1.0 TC5-RC8 116470 ota-rel-keys,release-
keys
Who want's to start working their magic first?

From what I understand, we are going to have to wait for the full release to become avalible for download as there hasnt been much luck in flashing the 4mb small updates.

Question about jailbreaking

i got my replacemnt G1 yesterday and it came with RC 29. i want to jailbreak it but i have few questions before doing that.
1) does this void the warranty or anything like that?
2) can you go back to original firmwares??
3) after jailbreaking, can still update your G1 with updates from tmobile??
NEED HELP ASAP, before i get my RC30 update.

1) possibly: it might go unnoticed that the firmware was changed, as long as you dont damage the phone you should be ok.
2) yes - you can undo the modded firmware update process with the official RC29 then apply the official (no root) RC30
3) no - once you apply the modded firmware update, there are mods that prevent you from receiving ota updates. you can probably find the update and apply it via sd card, but you will more than likely lose root....
so if you cannot get the updates from tmobile, is it worth it???

yes its worth it, and you can get the updates, just not over the air, and im sure the members here will be able to mod the official updates as they come out....better to have root while you can than to upgrade to official RC30 and not have a chance, at least for right now, to get root back.

testkeys and ota keys

Ok i just need this cleared up then this can be locked or deleted.
I Looked on the board but didnt find a clear answer.
Question is about the rc30 v1.3
Ok I had the ota rc30 non rooted, Last night downgraded to rc29 and installed the modded boot and recovery img. Then upgraded to rc30 v1.3 All went find just when I go to about the phone says:
Kernel Version [email protected] #19
Build number TC4-RC30 116143 ota-rel-keys,release-keys
My question is isnt the keys suppose to be testkeys and since its says ota keys does that mean if tmobile sends out a new ota the phone will update to it?
It's signed with the test keys, don't worry. Otherwise JF would know the ota keys.

This was briefly discussed in some thread that I know will probably never turn up in a search. Yes, it is intentional. Theory is that the update service will call home with the fingerprint and check for an update. The fingerprint is thus intentionally set to an official to avoid arousing suspicion.
Thank you for clearing all that up just wanted to make sure tmobile couldn't take back root.

Rogers Mandatory Update

For us Magic users who have rooted our HTC Magics and flashed a new rom on it, would it be mandatory for us to update to their rom?

I was wondering that too. They are saying their are disabling 3G Data on our phones till the upgrade is performed.
I'm afraid it has a perfected SPL.
no need for rooted users to upgrade... i believe the upgrade is just to fix the gps 911 issue. us rooted users dont experience that
Edit: Custom rom users
it's the sense ui upgrade as well.. and apparently one month of free data fees
Hmm according to the screenshot on the HTC website is shows Build number 3.05.631.7 which looks to be newest one I can find.
we need someone to verify what SPL is included with this update. I won't be updating my phone. I don't want to loose root
Yeah that's all fine and nice that we aren't affected with custom ROMs but did you guys not read the fine print?
Customers who have not downloaded this software update could have problems accessing 911. As a result, we are taking the precautionary measure of temporarily disabling internet access for Dream and Magic users on Sunday January 24 at 6:00AM (EST). Voice and text messaging will not be impacted. By disabling internet access, we can ensure that 911 calls are completed for all our Dream and Magic customers. Once a customer completes the software update, his/her internet access will be re-enabled within 24 hours.

hmm very strange so basically they are forcing everyone to update ...interesting...
I guess we'll have to see HOW they can know that we haven't updated.
Here's a link to the "about" for this version btw: http://www.htc.com/us/img/ca/HTC Magic (Rogers)/image001.png
does anyone know if rogers is able to check your build?
becuase in the instruction manual below step 4.
"Refer to the image and note the build number version listed. if you have the same build number version there is no need to update this software."
I looked inside the update file's rom.zip files and it appears to have a 1.76.0010
SPL
Well it's about time we got the Sense UI update... but I don't like the idea of being forced to update and getting perfected spl. I'll hold off on it until I get my internet disconnected.
The RUU has radio version 6.35.10.18, build 3.05.631.7... hmm
can anyone host the RUU I can sent it.
^Uploading now.
edit: beaten to it.
hboot_7200A_1.76.0010_100114.nb0
Radio_Signed_Sapphire_63.18.55.06K_6.35.10.18.img
more info soonish
i uploaded to my work's temp data storage web server
Code:
URL no longer available
I can't add url's apparently so just copy and paste.
Just got an SMS tell me to update... I don't want a perfect SPL.

I'm willing to bet that's a perfected SPL...
Hopefully i won't get one as I already have a 1.6 rom loaded.
Rogers must have a way to verify connected phones rom versions.

I just phoned in and asked about the update. The fella didn't seem TOO savvy about it at all - he didn't know what a custom rom was.
He did, however, say that rogers is able to check what version you have through your "IP when you connect", and he wasn't 100% sure about what would happen to custom roms.
Frankly I'd take it with a grain of salt.

Has anyone been able to get the ota update from verizon ?

Has anyone been able to get the ota update from verizon ?
I went back to completely stock 4.4.4 rom with no system roms removed, stock 4.4.4 recovery and I flashed back to 4.4.4 firmware and the verizon ota updates keeps coming up that I have the latest software.
I know its out because verizon itself even shows it on the net going over the update in detail. They even show you can also get the update through the htc sync software by plugging your m8 in to yuour computer usb port and downloading the update. Which the htc sync software keeps showing no update either.
It would show a repair software option though which I tried that knowing I would still have s-off even if they did relock my bootloader because I could change my cid and use htc dev to unlock that if I needed to.
Anyone have any luck going back to stock and taking the LP ota from verizon ?
If you want the breaking news just keep watching these forums. It will be announced AS SOON AS it's available for someone to download and the file will be captured and posted here AS SOON AS that first person can write the post.

Nothing here yet....tried all the "usual suspects"...HTC Sync Manager, Check for updates, forcing manual checkin....if I had to guess, VZW put the info for the update on their site before they actually started pushing it, and it will actually start rolling out sometime today.
The htc web site now shows the LP update is in stage 4 final but nothing showing on ota ? Verizon stop screwing with us...

Actually you can FIND OUT FASTER by checking the htc web site as they show the update process which is now on stage 4 final release. No need TO WAIT for someone to post it on here when you can find it AT THE SOURCE.

Updating a C432

Just recently bought this phone, and after scouring this forums the past few days I found that the EMUI that shipped with my phone is 4-5 months old (Dec '16) and that there have been multiple updates since, even though the OTA on my phone says I'm using the latest version. This scares me, not so much for features, but because of potentially missing security patches.
Looking at hwmt.ru's listings, there's a lot of updates, and for my specific model the latest OTA is B181, and the latest "full" update (I assume these are whole images) is B156.
Can I download the B156 updates (basically the same way used when rooting the phone) to update the stock ROM?
And if that is correct, what are all the listings on that site under the "A" (or "Тип") column with "OTA" for?
Download the firmware finder app for android and update through it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146
You probably won't be able to update to 181 though... You'll have to test which ones you can install. Huawei needs to approve each firmware version before we can install through system update.
B181 didn't work, authentication error, gonna try the other way and work my way up instead.
Nice that someone made a tool to automate this though, even though it's a hacky way
Nevermind that, every single version gets that authentication error, even the ones older than the one I have currently installed.
