I like this default home page that comes with CR's ROM. It has buttons that will expand to list my history, and my favorites.
I'd like to modify this page slightly to add a google search instead of a LIVE search, but anytime I try to modify this page, it no longer works! What I mean is, the buttons that open my history and favorites will no longer work. They instead open my file explorer to the windows/ directory...
Surely I must be able to modify this web page somehow?
On the Touchflo internet tab, m.yahoo.com appears immediately below the sphere and "Launch Browser" words which causes the browser to navigate to m.yahoo.com when pressing the sphere.
Is there any way to change the m.yahoo.com for a different address?
Also, MySpace appears above all of my bookmarks on the internet tab page. Is there a way to remove MySpace or add other websites?
You should be able to change this if you open opera, click on the menu tab on the lower right, and click settings. There should be a start page option where you can change what page starts up when you start up opera.
Hope that helps.
That does indeed change the start page for opera but clicking on the sphere above the words "Launch Browser" and m.yahoo.com causes Opera to open at m.yahoo.com and not at the designated start page. After doing this, I have to press the home key within Opera to get it to navigate to the desired start page.
There seems to be some form of yahoo tie-in that I would like to remove.

You can change what the default page by editing the InternetPortal-en-US.xml file located in the \Application Data\Manila\ folder. In the <Banner> section, edit the NavigateURL to whatever page you want it to open by default and change the Text to match.
e.g.
NavigateUrl="http://www.google.com/"
Text="Google"
If you remove the NavigateURL line completely, clicking on the globe will open your default Opera home page.
Great...but the file is read only and I cannot work out how to edit it or replace it or delete it so that I can replace it with an edited version. Any thoughts?
I have been askin the same question for a while now with minimal answers. I think I've learned that if you edit favorites within opera, it changes the favorites below the sphere on the TF3D tab.
I received this answer over at ATT forums..its not a step by step but it gives you an idea of where to go. It is relatively self evident if your not bad with computers once you open that file..if you get confused I can probabl walk you through it but I'm not the best either =]
---Originally, on the stock ATT rom with bloat installed I just opened total commander and went to \application data\manila\folder and edited InternetPortal-en-US.xml to tweak it (like change home page, add you tube link, etc.).

Use Total Commander. It will let you remove the Read Only flag and then you can edit the file. (Probably a good idea to change it back to Read Only when you're done.)
Brilliant...thanks for all your help.
These three should help you- they are step by step:

First one is how to change the default tab to set it, second one changes it to whatever Opera is set as for its default and the third is adding an appliocation shortcut to the tab
I am having the same issue, have found the file mentioned, but it isn't in the Manila folder (I don't have a Manila folder at all) its in the Windows folder. I am using Resco Explorer, changed the read only tick but it still won't let me change it. It says it is in Rom and can't be deleted. Also, when I open it with notepad, it just has 3 weired characters in it, not the string about yahoo.
I found I can overwrite the file, which I did with a blank one but it didn't make any difference.
To be clear, it launches to my default home page when "opening browser" from touch flo, but with the keyboard open in landscape mode, I select "web search" and it goes to the yahoo crap. Thats what I am trying to change.
Any suggestions?
BTW I am running the elite rc2 rom
Hi! In opera I have to zoom a bit with the zoombar or with double touch to open a link, is there something to do to open links without zooming the page?
Good topic, something I would love to see too.
Found the answer in blackstone wiki
Activate Links Without Zooming-In in Opera
If you are tired of having to double tap a web page to zoom in just to activate a link, try this:
In the Opera URL bar, type: opera:config. Click on 'Adaptive Zoom'. Next change the default number in 'Minimum Overview Zoom' to 70 or higher. Scroll down a bit and hit 'Save' and restart Opera. You can now click on links with your stylus when you are fully zoomed out on a web page.
I hate how at&t has the homepage linked to http://att.my.yahoo.com i would prefer something else....any way around this?
click menu, more, settings, set home page - that's it !

just saw that this only happens if i search through the address bar. if i type the search in the search field on google.com, i get a normal looking result, meaning the desktop version.
this only happens if i search through either the address bar in browser or press the search shortcut from the home screen. same thing happens in dolphin as well.
does anyone else running Vegan Beta 3 have this issue?
I see this as well. It seems like the Google search app sends that it is a mobile device along with the search query so Google shows a page formatted for mobile phones. If somebody writes or has written an app that responds to Google search intents and this is set to the default system search handler, maybe it could provide a workaround. (I am running vegan-tab beta 4).
It may because whatever browser you're using has user-agent set to 'mobile'.
The newer default browser in TNT 3452, xscope, and dolphin all have settings to set that, but not sure about Vegan.
Jim
In the URL window in the browser.....http://www.xxxxxx.com.....type "about:debug".
Nothing will change.
Tap the "Menu" soft key
Tap "More"
Tap "Settings"
Scroll to the very bottom and tap "UAString"
Select "Desktop"
I don't think these settings survive a reboot
