you just have to run on pc with the usb cable plugged in, and then a soft reset, and everything will be ok...

well i had read the forum instructions and for change boot and welcom screen.
but something is wrong with the typho5. its suppose to extract nb 9200000 files but the application starts without extracting nobthing.
i would like to change the welcome screen from the PDAMobiz to some thing personal. i follow instruction but they dont fit the results i get.
any idea?

I do not suggest everybody trys to get into the ROM cooking that is also described, but the splash screen section is fairly straitforward

well to make it easy to understand where we stand this is the only file we must change. but there is a problem. the original file is read only and can not be replaced nor rename or moved. not with total comander , not even unlock extended rom. after a small research i found that the file is integrated with in the original ROM not the extended.
so i am looking for a tool to delete/install files into the ROM when present on the device.
it sims that that cannot be done. we must dump the present rom, sort of cook it on our PC than re- install it with changes done.
at the same time since most of us are very happy with the ROM as is , but want to personal it littel bit, its worth a dedicated tool.
i will look into it. if i find a way i will post it here.

You do not need to look into it!!!!
Read the previous two posts and look at the pdf manual in the download - it describes the tools you need to change you images (without cooking a complete rom)
And it doesnt need a hard reset either!

exactly, but i don't think that it will work on qtek s200, because now i saw that is only for wizard...if you made it, let me know...

so everything that you've said there, in that txt file, is for qtek s200, isn't it? now i'm going to try

in that arhive from you does not have RUU_SPLASH.zip that we need (from that tutorial)
i've copied that file, nk.nbf in the RUU_SPLASH folder and then i've executed ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe and is not working...it tell's me EROR (300): INVALID UPDATE TOOL
This update utility cannot be used for you PDA Phone. Please get newer update utility.

If you have created your nk.nbf file, you can replace the one in this file (rename it to zip)
rename it back to exe and execute, it worked on my prophetG4 with WM6 on it

Place bepe's kitchen in the Working_Folder (so that OEM/SYS/ROM and other folders are right within Working_Folder.) Alternatively, you can place also place all the files into EasyBakeOven's folder. Allow the Working_Folder to override EasyBakeOven's Working_Folder. You will not loose any data.
Place the SYS file you wish to port into Working_Folder (and delete your old SYS folder.) Place your xip.bin that you wish to port into the Prepare folder.

Well, for now, since it's not a final release, just put the SYS folder from a ROM you want to port over into the Working_Folder and then run the batch file. Then take your favorite ROM (like JustClean) and delete the SYS folder that it came with. Then add the SYS you just ported over. Then just use my kitchen the way you would normally use it.
I'll try to write something more useful, or maybe automated the whole process more later, but for now, I don't have the time to. I hope my "tutorial" is useful, though!

Sry for being a bit stupid, but what is this supposed to port into what? It updates ROMs from ypur old EasyBakeOven?

it is for porting for example a Kaiser SYS to a hreald SYS for cooking!!
to get a newer build.... the kaiser ones are allways earlier than all other devices...

That's strange.... Make sure that your SYS folder does not have a XIP folder in it or anything similar. If that doesn't work, try to run it WITHOUT the OEM.

i run both with and without oem... and sys only has sys files. no xip!

One of the SYS folders that I found had a XIP something folder. (It wasn't called XIP, but it had files that the XIP had and it had XIP in its name.) This caused it to crash.

sorry. but my sys is completely similar to the one i use for herald. BUT i have to change some files to get it working fro herald.
i did manually with the wince_
and the shellres.dll and the other
the ones you have in your portkitchen. then treid to cook... all good BUT stuck at blackscreen after 2nd bootscreen!

hmm... I thought I did that on the kitchen. It's very possible that I didn't upload the proper files, though...

Update. I updated it, now it even has XIP porting! Look for the walkthrough link for those who want to know how to do it by hand.

This is ancient. I haven't worked on this for ages. You no longer need this to port. There are much easier methods out there. Remind me again and I'll research it later.

By any chance, are you putting up .07 SJK with 28005/8 tonight. I kinda would like to reference what I did with your kitchen with what you are gonna do with yours.

A question for the cookers

Say I downloaded "frauhottelmann"'s GUI kitchen and I grabbed the original, unmodified S740 SYS and OEM folders from a thread here.
What would I need to replace in order to build a ROM that will bootup on an Excalibur ? I have the "dump" of the original 6.1 ROM from the Excalibur. Some drivers maybe ? Any help ? Thanks

Oh, so you got it already. You should start with the OEM folder of the Excalibur. Then you might have to add some of the *.cpl.xml from OEMMISC to get all settings to work. The new packages are a bit trickier to use. You need more files from the new OEM. And don't use the new Connection Setup, it doesn't work. You should be able to use the whole SYS folder though.

This is going to be difficult then. The only kitchen that exists for the Excalibur, dumps the contents of the ROM in one folder and doesn't seperate the foldes out to OEM, SYS, etc...
So is the SYS folder where all the drivers are then ?

No. There are two main folder. SYS is for the general Windows Mobile OS part. OEM is what the manufacturer or you add. The folder for drivers is on OEM and is called OEMDrivers. If you have a dump, you can make "packages" with PKGTools. There is no official 6.1 ROM right? So I guess this will be a problem, because then it doesn't sort the packages right. You'll have to try. Maybe send me a screen shot of the files or the result!

Well the original 6.1 ROM for the Excalibur (the ONLY one) was made by this guy Kavana. I'm pretty sure it was based on the files from the MS emulator and drivers from the OEM WM6. IS PkgTools included in your kitchen ? Should I try to dissassemble the ROM with your kitchen ?

Well I managed to make an excalibur ROM that works (partially) with the VOX GUI kitchen, and replacing the OEMDrivers with the drivers from my official WM6 ROM. Problem is, the center button on the keypad doesn't work. Everything else is fine... although WI-FI and BT don't turn on. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong ? Oh and the startup screen is all skewed and in 4 pieces, right after the splash screen, bu before the usual winmo 6.1 splash screen.

Well I'm over that road bump now, and I'm trying to port the S740 XIP and SYS over to take advantage of the new CHOME
So far, so good...

Thanks guys for the support. I was able to make a new ROM based on the 20279 core from the S740 ALL by myself. Reading these forums for a few days is what did the trick... heh. THe ROM runs great and I have to say that BuildOS+package tools is my best ROM cooking friend right now...

There is no rgu file in the rom you dumped.
and the one is not official 6.1.
You can dump the
moto q8 WM6.1 rom
s740 official rom
C810 official rom for your resource.

I know.. that was my original problem. No worries though, as I used the SYS folder from the S740 and all is well now

µkitchen to add custom files into protected rom

I ran into the problem of liking a rom that was protected..
no problem , only thing i want to add was remote tracker.
the rest i do with uc.
So with the help of da_g i striped a kitchen to unpack and repack protected roms.
to add a package , just unpack..put your cab in the dump dir and add it to config????.txt
and repack.
that way i get the use the protected rom with my own package build in.
thought i would post it.

What is the difference in extracting ngh file, adding cab file to dump folder, updataing config.txt and recooking compared to installing the cab file using UC?
Can we add visual kitchen packages to this dump folder? If we can add do we need to just copy all the files in all the folders of the package to dump folder?
eg: in the package there are some files in 0409 and some in files folder , _skip, app.reg, all these goes to dump folder?

- check if there are funny things on it
- format the card
- hardreset the phone
and gone is your remote tracker protection..
If i cook rt in, with my personal settings for it.
after a hard-reset it's installed again , so i can still gps find my stolen phone after a complete format.
only next step i want to take is to re-hard spl , to prevent reflashing if posible.
but these days with new 6.5 images coming out so quick i flash so often i will wait with that one
but all other things i install by uc or later shashimi

All this to add a couple of cabs to a ROM ? Isn't it a whole of a lot easier to just... you know... install them after ? Or maybe even UC them to make it even lazier ?

Does this work with other roms from other devices? Or just Raphael roms?

I tried this but it extracts os.nb and os.nb.payload and also os.nb.extra but when it starts to create dump it fails

Use the latest version of extractor, place the .nbh file in BaseROM, rename it to RUU_signed.nbh and run the extractor.
That worked for me.

A little late reading this, but I downloaded it to rip a rom from a little known site & guess what... Theres a trojan in that 1st post, virus software just riped it out of 2 kitchens recently downloaded as well as that 1st post file.

I used your extractor but when i use old (1,2mb) i have problem with rom (sense 2.5 crash , windows menu crash), when i use new extractor (1,9mb) i don;t have a bootable rom (.nbh is very small 15mb-100mb) Is there any solution?

Sorry but this tool is traying to rebuild protected rom into kitchen (with folders - ext, rom, sys etc.) but this is impossible.

Moving to general section

You should just move this to the cooking forum. People are always asking if you can modify cooked roms. Then others are always answering that you can't dump and modify a protected rom, which clearly isn't true. So this would work ok in the Cooking forum (can't even remember the name of the forum, even though I'm a mod there, lol).

If this works, than this is pretty kick ass! I was recently trying to simplify the process as you did but your work looks flawless to me! I'll post as soon as I can confirm it works putting the rom back on an HTC rose (htc s743).

After the rom is dumped, what says what files go in what directories? In the dump directory ALL files are in the dump directory and not in the folder structure they would be after the ROM is flashed to the phone. Where would I find what determines the folder structure?

and cygwin1.dll
copy to system32 folder inside windows
start cmd
usage: unyaffs system.img
unly windows 32bit!!

as far as i know, that won't work as these images are not using yaffs
you need to loop mount the system.img in linux

Can anyone tell me, if I buy a non WWE DHD, for example from Spain or France, can I flash with a WWE or is this the same as Winmobile HTC phones??

Maybe ...... Goldcard debranding may work ..... Anyone have a branded HD ? ..... anyone want to test ?

i think i'm right in saying that as it's a 'shipped rom' (first post), it came with the phone, i.e. stock, original

New OTA firmware from 1.28.xx to 1.32.405.3.
New kernel: 2.6.32.21-gbe90714 fri oct 22
new Radio: 12.28b.60.140eU+26.03.02.15+M3

I've tried to cook my own rom based on this ruu, but the kitchen doesn't work. I've figured out that the kitchen doesn't work because the system.img file isn't in a (un)yaffs format.
So I've mount the system.img and was able to copy the files in the working directory of the kitchen.
But now I have a problem to extract the boot.img, because it cannot be mounted.
It this a problem or is it right that the boot.img file don't need to extract?
Sorry, but I'm new to linux and android and my englisch issn't so good...
