I have had my vx6800 for about two months everything has been fine. I sync with my Xp box at home and my Xp box at work...no problems. All of the sudden my home box starts reporting "Syncronization cannot be completed successfully..." I can explore it, copy files etc. but it won't sync. I looked all through the forums and on the i-net and I can't seem to figure out what is wrong. It can't be the USb because i can browse the device. I uninstalled and re-installed ASync. In the file--> mobile device menu I got nothing....
Any ideas???
Thanks
Try a new cable anyway, if you can. You'ld be surprised how quirky cables can be.
After I installed Vista SP1 i can't sync my tc with my pc.
My PC does find the phone, but when the phone is starting Activesync i get the message on the phone:
"If you want to sync this phone to pc, you have to install ActiveSync 4.5 or higher".
But i have Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1, i guess that's the latest version. Before SP1 it worked fine !
I hope somebody knows a solution for this !
Thx !!
PS already tried the setting USB to PC. When it's checked the phone does nothing. When it's unchecked, the phone tries to sync but gives the message above !
It works now !
Very strange !
But after some reboots, hard resets, un- & reinstalling WMDC, remove phone from device manager and reconnect, ......
Suddenly it worked out !
Why it did now, i really don't have a clue.
So for people with the same problem, just keep on trying all the actions i listed above and cross fingers
goodnight
Problem returns
This morning problem just came back

can't sync anymore
The problem is back and can't solve in anymore !
Help please ?
Thx
I have the same issue. Few days ago it appeared and after soft reset of the Cruise and turning off and on the PC I was able to solve it. But today no way for the PC to detect the Cruise. Same issue as described above.
Anybody having a solution?
I have tried to update windows Mobile manager without result.
same issue without SP1
Now i have the same problem even without VISTA SP1.
Did full format of my pc so SP1 has never been installed !
Really getting sick of this ...
Please help,
Thanx already !
Nico
WMDC is nothing but headaches. I've had tons of issues with both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The endless synching issues is annoying, and I hate that it deletes all my mobile IE Favorites that are nested in folders. I really wish you could use ActiveSync with Vista
IMO -- WMDC is a promotional tool for the iPhone...
Hello,
Try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950506/en-us/
By the way, I got the same problem after installing Windows XP SP3 !
The reason is that both WMDC and ActiveSync are not supposed to be compatible with new SPs.
"Note: Microsoft ActiveSync works only with Windows XP SP2 or earlier" (same for WMDC for Vista)
can be found at Microsoft web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...roductID=7C1FA894-B2C5-41BE-8D97-E145DD2A883B
I had to install SP3 in my company computer. That's what I got:
1) ActiveSync 4.5 behaves quite stupid with WP-SP3 (it opens Network drives at each sync/desync).
2) After multiple reinstallations it has allowed me to connect Polaris, but as "Guest" only -- with nothing installed.
3) The only solution to me was hard reset and consequent reinstallation of all I had in Polaris ...
syncing woes
I am having the same issues with syncing as well. tried all of the steps that everyone has listed & called HTC for help. was able to fix it once, but not the next time it happened. I don't think that the problem (at least for me) is with Vista-- I have an old laptop that runs XP and the same thing happens with that computer as well. the company I bought my phone from suggests that I send it back for repair-- aparently this is covered under the warranty and maybe an issue with the phone itself??. If I ever get this sorted out I will post back.
otherwise the phone works great. maybe I should have held out for that 3g iphone.
After uninstallation of Vista SP1 the synchronization was working fine again for me.
Then few days ago I tried to reinstall SP1 and did uninstall and reinstall WMDC as indicated by Microsoft. WMDC was working for 1 day with correct detection and synchronisation of my Cruise but now it's again not working.
I have again tried several times to uninstall and reinstall WMDC with the same result: no detection...
I have tried to make a filter in Bit Defender to force authorization of WMDC.. no result.
I have spent hours not being able to solve the problem.
I am really fedup.
I had much less issues with Palm OS...
I would like to avoid to uninstall again SP1.
Any idea?
I also had this problem, but now it is fixed
What I did was to go in the "USB to PC" menu on the phone and disable advanced network functions.
Hope this can help you as well
...if only that was a permanent fix It'll make things work for a while, and then one day things just break again. WMDC is a iPhone sales tool

I have also tried to disable advanced network functions... no result
I have tried soft resets, uninstallation, reinstallationl... no result
I have tried to stop the partnership and to re-create it (major mistake: it took me few hours to resynchronize all my contacts, notes and calendar events...)... no result
Sometimes it works for 1 day and after the issue comes back again.
According to forums I am not at all the only one facing this.
Only solution is to uninstall Vista SP1. Then it works fine again.
Microsoft is making products that are not compatible while done by the same company...
Can you tell me if it happened after you put sp1 onto vista? I'm thinking about upgrading but may not do if its going to cause problems - my phone syncing to my pc is pretty important to me!
Many users have reported the same issue relating to SP1. Personally, I had sync issues before and after SP1. Can be very frustrating. I'm just glad that for the most part, I sync with Exchange.

I sent my phone in to HTC for repair 5 weeks ago. still waiting.....
In my case, I confirm I have the problem only if I install Vista SP1... When I remove SP1 I have the synchronisation is working perfectly. With SP1 it's sometimes working but most of the time not.
Vista SP1 is clearly causing the problem in my case and I was not able to find any solution, except removing SP1 (see above description of all my trials).
Vista SP1 and same problem
I checked Microsoft's "solutions" - it didn't work... of course
few days ago I could connect my XDA Orbit 2 after computer reboot or via bluetooth anytime
now non of this works, but my totalcmd still see my mobile (plugin for WinCE availeble on ghisler.com)
any ideas?
About 2 weeks ago my 8525 stopped connecting to WMDC. It has always worked fine b4 that. I'm running Vista Premium 32 bit on a home built PC. I assume something must have gotten updated and broke this. My 8525 is running WM 6.0 from AT&T's official ROM update.
The phone connects fine to another computer running MCE with Activesync, so I assume the problem is not with the phone.
In Vista, Device mgr., Windows Mobile Remote Adapter shows up when I connect the phone. But I'm told "Pocket PC" is also supposed to show up and it does not.
I thought to do a system restore but I can only restore to 6 days ago, and this problem is going on two weeks now.
I updated WMDC to 6.1 hoping that would fix it, but it didn't. My next move will be to do a system repair unless someone has another idea.
Thanks.
uncheck advanced network connections on your ppc and see if that does the trick.
Thanks for responding. Forgot to mention, already tried that. No good.
O.K. So for years I have been running 1 PDA or an other, For the last year or so I have been running my HTC Trinity without any issues.
The January 1 2009 comes around and…
My Trinity stops syncing.
Not just with my home machine, but with my work one as well
The device shows up in device manage, it makes the USB device found sound, but doesn’t make the syncing sound, and active sync doesn’t find it.
No firewalls,
Tested with multiple USB cables,
Bounced the Trinity multiple times,
Changed from sync via USB and back
Removed the profile for one of the computers from the machine and the Trinity.
Reloaded the Device driver.
Don’t know of any change made to any of the 3 devices (Who knows with M$ Patching)
Oh both computers are XP, and active sync 4.5, the Trinity is WM5
Any one with any thing I could have missed?
Has no one got any thoughts on the subject?

Are you able to test another device and see if it will sync with your computer?
If yes the I would suggest you to do a hard reset and try again!
Make sure to backup your contacts and everything else before you hard reset first, or you will lose everything!

I was trying to dodge a hard reset, but went with it anyway…
That worked and the phone Synced successfully
Then my next thought was… Well rebuilding all your apps was the only reason you haven’t upgraded the ROM so now is your opportunity.
BIG MISTAKE!
I Downloaded HTC ROM 3.00.707.18 Outlined here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321182
And started the upgrade.
It found the phone, it started the upgrade and then I heard a most disconcerting sound… The USB Undock sound.
It now Shows the Tri Colour Screen and nothing Else
It wont be recognized to sync(No surprise there) so how on earth do I bring the poor thing back to life?
I have moved this a step forward.
Now when I try to apply the ROM I get ERROR [294] INVALID VENDOR ID
I can find lots of posts on the topic, but nothing definitive.
Well Hard-SPL was my savoir…
It didn’t allow me to install the WM6 Rom as it seemed to suggest but it somehow recovered the WM5 Rom so that I am now up and running and able to Sync once again
I've d/l 4.5 into my PC but I can't sync into my HD2. OK in my house I can only wi-fi data , I have to go outside to make phone calls on network. When I go to active-sync it sends me to MS like I'm on the PC & it gives me the interpretation to d/l 4.5 into the HD2. What the heck am I missing? Help!
Pls. Someone point me in the right direction,so I can sync my HD2 to my PC ,pls. Thanks ahead of time.
Okay, try uninstalling activsync. Re-download and re-install Activsync (remember for XP only, Vista and Seven get WM Device Center) then go through the setup. Plug in your HD2 via USB it should connect. Then, press the syn button at the top right corner I believe. It's been a while since I've used it since i'm now using Android but I believe it should still be the same!
Sorry for being late (sleep) Thank You that worked. It's been awhile & I thought I thought I overlooked something but it's good to know windows still works the same. If I didn't get this phone for a penny I'd be working with something else. Again Thank You.
