Fuze performance - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I just got my AT&T Fuse and the first thing I did is testing performance. I did it before installing any software except for whatever is installed automatically for stock AT&T ROM.
Testing method (storage card and SIM card were inserted during testing, AC power is plugged in):
1. Hard reset the device.
2. Initialize the device (screen calibration, no password or mail setup).
3. Wait for all of the software from ExtROM to install.
4. Install SPB Benchmark from the storage card.
5. Turn on Airplane Mode.
6. Soft reset the device.
7. Start SPB Benchmark. Un-select tests involving Pocket Internet Explorer and Pocket Word.
8. Wait for test results.
You can see results in linked Google Docs spreadsheet:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p-q7Gtr4_r-sNB8t-hfm_LA
SPB Benchmark Index is 452.2
Overall, I'm impressed. I'm coming from Tilt. I though that my old device was pretty snappy with carefully selected cooked ROMs (WM6.0 - Q-MObile 1.2 and WM6.1 - Dutty 19700 Hybrid 2). Still Fuze outperformed it with stock ROM while obviously taking a hit from VGA screen.
Kudos!!!
BTW, if somebody will be working on compilation of performance test data for different Fuze ROMs for Wiki, please let me know. I would be interested in participating.

Awesome stuff amidsin...
but would it be possible for a larger version of the image? that one seems a little bit fuzzy...

Image is unreadable.

Hi,
The image is waaay to small to read

Did you bother plugging it in until the battery was full? Or is that unimportant

Now I am not sure, is the lower number better or the higher?
Thanks!

HTC touch Today plugin - slowness

I searched around and haven't seen a thread about this yet but I think we should look at the slowness of the plugin. I know that on my G4 which was OS flashed to Crossbow it's totally bogged down now. Seen some reports of others. Is this a memory leak or conflict or just a case of code needing to be optimized? I've tried a few different configs so far but can't get past it.
ive noticed the same thing about mine. mines a g3 and it was very fast before but now its slow as heck after i installed the plug in. im not sure how to fix it. just confirming the problem on another phone.
It's fine on my HTC Touch

Fine on my hermes too...
small lag on prophet, when i press the softkeys....But overall phone speed is ok!
Processors
Hermes has a 400mhz processor, so it should be ok on there!
However, I have a Wizard, which is only 200mhz, and it is absolutely crawling using this plugin!! But it's (as far as I know) the same processor as the Touch, so what is it that's causing it to run so slowly?

I think the problem is with the access to \windows\ folder, try to open the folder and see how many time it takes...
The only problem I have with that theory, is that I assume the HTC Touch doesn't run this slowly all the time, yet that has the same processor as the Wizard and must have the same amount of files in the Windows foler?
Hermes has a faster processor, and Prophet is probably similar in design to the Touch, so they might mask the problems a bit better than the Wizard I guess. But there must be some way of making it run faster!
Already done it.Without HTC Home Plugin 5- secs, with the plugin 10+... I don't use the weather item,so i'm going to delete the weather pics.... and i will post results...
Same thing...lag... BUT i hard resetted, then installed HTC Home Plugin, and it was running full speed!then installed the HTC Touch pad and lag again....
Lagging on wizard G3
I have a G3 wizard and I'm having an incredible slowdown (both reboot and executions)
I installed the Home plug, comm man, dial pad (directly after the flash) and then installed spb pocketplus and netfront! That's all..
I can access the /windows folder in +/-13 secs
I reverted to my previous backup without the new HTC apps, and WOW!
Windows folder shows up almost instantly. Everything is alot smoother than with the Touch today plugin. But it is uglier as well.
What ROM is everyone using? Has anyone installed this on faria or most beautiful?
I know on Crossbow it slows down with just the today plugin installed.
Homeplug disgustingly slow on prophet here (latest Pdaviet rom, 234mhz), ....And then after I put the touch dialler on as well....Ugh! ...
ended up having to keep soft resetting just to stop unwanted dialling from tapping!
Interesting about the windows folder as for me, xp is taking forever to open this folder too. Looks like a hard reset is due....then I'll try again

In fact, it seems every Touch application (dialer, htc home plugin, maybe even the sound manager?) slows the device a factor, but the home plugin is the worst.
I played with installing and uninstalling them after a hard reset. I agree it seems like the fuller the \Windows folder, the slower the device, but indeed that makes no sense.
Using Faria's latest, err, lets call it "10.1.0.811 WWE" on my Wizard. XM6?

it has tons of pngs that it loads into the /window folder which lead to the explorer taking a lonfg time to open it
Just wanna report the same slowness on my MDA Vario [email protected] wonderfull XM6. But the looks are great, the slowlyness sucks. So does this mean that the plugins have to be optimized or can it be done through the registry?
After hard-reset I installed Dialer, and the phone was sluggish again, even without the today homeplug...
I guess it also has something to do, like already was said, with the graphical aspect of it. Many png's in the windows folder which are loaded for displaying everything that nice.
will one of you see if chabging the attributes of the png (to hidden,system,...) will change anything?

My windows folder is taking 31 sec to load up. I made all png files (about 1.4 meg worth) both hidden and system. Windows folder still takes 30 seconds to load. General responsiveness of the device did seem to get faster but I can't tell if it's that or the fact I flashed the official MS WM6 rom. Seems like since the plugin still references them it's taking up resources. Any way we can pack those into the plugin exe or would placing these in rom or extended rom speed up the process?
The plugin with official wm6 seems faster then xm6. Not talking smack, just an observation. I can't try NBD 7.0 since it won't flash properly but I've heard that's the fastest w/ plugin so far.

Faraday (Cingular 2125) crashes running TCPMP

Hi,
I like my Faraday (Cingular 2125) vs. my old Audiovox 5600 (C500 I think is also known as) because of its screen brightness, newer OS, and also I can copy files over to it using wm5torage without having to remove the minisd card; however, it crashes on me a lot when running TCPMP to view avi files, these are the same files I use with the 5600 using the same version of TCPMP (version 0.72RC1). I'm kind of discouraged and was wondering if anyone else have the same problem. what happens is I can watch for say 10 minutes then the smartphone version of the windows hourglass (you know that round circle signaling it's busy) would come up and i can't watch anymore, the phone doesn't actually crash but I just can't use TCPMP anymore. I can turn the phone off but turning it back on requires a battery removal.
I've already tried using an older version of TCPMP (0.71) and that didn't solve it either.
i don't believe there's any rom update for this phone (but if there's one please point me to it).
anyway, please give me any advice that you may have. man, i like this phone but i just can't stand it much longer.
thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if it'd help: did you try playing with the video settings?
yes I did
yes I played around with numerous video settings but no luck. thanks though! i think i may go back to my good old SmT5600
had the same problem on my tmobile sda but i never got to fix this problem because i lost it days later but found a SMT5600 a week later and i dont have this problem on it not even now that i have it upgraded to WM6
i switched back
yeah, i just switched back to my 5600. the one main reason i wanted to try a 2125 was because it could run the utility WM5TORAGE that treats its storage card like a USB mass storage device, hence copying files to it was fast. however, i just found out today that when using activeSync to copy files to my 5600, there's a setting in activesync to tell it not to convert to the mobile device format which helped speed up the copying quite a bit so I'm pretty content to be with my 5600 again.
I upgraded to WM6 once with my 5600 also, but the number of features felt quite overwhelming plus it seemed a little slower. does it feel like that to you?
can you point me to the wm6 rom that you used? i may try it out if it's different than the one i had used.
thanks.
for me it feels like it has a good speed not normal but good enough to do things and not get made for the slowness and for the rom i used the one in the link on my signature (Audiovox SMT 5600 (HTC Typhoon) with WM6 < check it out) it may be missing things and may have bugs but for now it is mostly stable
Ill wait for some one to make a better rom

where are all the cool vanilla roms at?

some how we gotta make a native WM6 for our wizards im running vista so its hard for me to operate a kitchen...
we can see which runs best!

Almost all the latest version wm6 custom builds have a separate "Vanilla Rom" for kitchens and cooking. It's not possible to have original official Microsoft Wm6 Base Rom for download. The Base Roms available are all ported from official Roms of carrier's and vendors.
Besides, either install WinXP or partition and 'Dual Boot' WinXP on the same PC and HD.
how can i get these roms?
how can i get these roms i mean to fit into the wizard help me make one plz
See my signature.
I'm running it on T-Mobile, but its generic - not built specifically for that carrier, and should work on any CID-unlocked Wizard.
Its fast, stable, and works.
Would you be willing to give a few details?
This sounds interesting. Would you be willing to give a few essential details: what app's are built-in, the amount of memory left, OS version?...
Thanks, man.

Sure... base is 5.2.1933; I'm running Radio 2.25.11, but that is NOT in the ROM.
Builtin:
Standard games
Esmertec Java
Adobe Reader
Camera
Comm Manager (10 button)
Internet Sharing AND DUN
Standard WM6 VOIP
SmartSkey
Other standard utilities (e.g. Windows Media, etc)
Advanced Config 1.0 (0.9 blows up with enhanced comm managers)
Windows CE Update (never seen anything yet, but the tool is there)
Enhanced WM6 Task Manager
Total Commander
OXios CloseApps/Hibernate
ClearTemp
Enhanced Contact Manager
MMS
Its a fairly vanilla ROM.
I have a lot of stuff I load from CABs as well, including HTC Home, BatteryTool, VoiceCommand, TomTom6, etc.
There's almost no storage memory used in the base load; I've got some stuff in use now as I have a bunch of CAB-loaded (and PC-loaded) stuff.
The only "bugs" I am aware of is that I've got issues with the MMS tool (configuring it - if I load the T-Mo CAB for MMS it works but that screws up connections when on sync) and during a call "directory info" isn't on the call status screen. The latter I'm not certain of the cause of, but I'm looking for a fix for that.
The really cool change I've noted is that it is 100% reliable at "ringing through" calls while data is being run. Not just with GPRS up, but with actual data transfers underway. I can be watching ORB'd TV and if someone calls the phone rings - every time. This has never, never worked before on any of the other ROMs I've used.
In addition the battery life is amazing. I've never left the phone with WiFi enabled unless in active use because it used to EAT battery power. With this ROM consumption is easily 30% better than with the others I've run. Not sure why the huge difference, but it is major - I used to run the battery basically flat in an hour watching ORB over EDGE, now I get nearly double that without a sweat. Its a BIG difference.
I'm on T-Mobile; YMMV.
I've played with a LOT of the different builds on here and all have been incredibly frustrating to one degree or another. This is the first WM6 load I've had on my Wizard that I actually LIKE.
I can build with other apps "builtin" but in general there's not THAT much that I want that's not in there or that I don't have as a CAB on my storage card, so loading from a CAB is pretty quick and painless anyway, since its only done once.
its a munn tho i dont want pplz looking at the app data saying mun
Thank you
Thank you. This sounds great - I'm going to try it. Have been running an NTS ROM for a long time now (similar idea), perhaps it's time to try a new one...

Cool, i like your description for this ROM, i JUST flashed my first wizard for the first time up to the recommended T-mobile 2.26 and was looking for something to replace it, wm6 preferred, but stable, fast, and not bloated. I will be trying this out, for wizard G3's right?
got it running, runs pretty good. two problems:
Pocket office is broken.
I can't get the task thing where I supposedly hold down the X to exit a program completely to work, what gives?
I'll look at office.... I have a second copy of that package - let me see what's up with that.
The "Hold X" thing is BS. Smarskey is in this load; hold the right soft key ("Contacts" at the top screen, but anywhere) to close a program instead of minimizing it. That's what I've used since WM5 and I VASTLY prefer it to the other hacks.
Let me play with this some and I'll post something here.
I have the Office problem and the "no call detail during a call" problems resolved; working to verify that all the other packages don't interact badly with the fixes and then will post here with a new load.
It may take me a day or two to go through all my regression testing.
OK, it appears to be fixed up. New load available on my Signature and I've started a thread for it.
There are a few more tools in this one.
I just want to note that I ended up having to flash to TNT 1933 during thanksgiving week (was in D.C. as well on vaca) because i found the ROM to be really unstable. Had to do a lot of soft resets, hard reset once, nowhere near as much as this TNT rom, but the TNT isn't perfect either.
I did like the ROM, but the stability wasn't there for me for somereason. Right now i'm having an issue with not getting voicemail notifications :/
I used Genesis3's baserom and made it my own with the proper props to him in my thread. he fixed the 1933 build and i just added ****

Balderdash! See here for the MS base ROM for the Wizard. This was apparently a late development ROM used on the Wizard for development purposes (internally called "Dogfood"). You'll have to extract it in HyperCore Kitchen. It's definitely the only MS base ROM ever made for the Wizard. I've made some minor changes to make it a bit more usable in base form, but everything else is the same.

Fastest Kaiser Cooked ROM in the world?!

Hi everyone,
Done a search that yielded inconclusive results. My question is:
What is the fastest kaiser cooked rom made so far, based on user comparisons and most importantly benchmarking?
Please state it as clearly as possible e.g.
1. ROM1
Benchmark results xxx.xxx
I feel that... comments...
2. ROM2
Benchmark results xxx.xxx
I feel that... not as fast as ROM1 because... comments...
Thank you very much for the input, I hope this will be very informative for kaiser owners who are thinking of flashing a rom but don't know which one to choose since there are so many!
I am actually running Dutty's v1.1 dualtouch rom, the latest one, and still experienced the occasional 30 second freeze which was frustrating.
Gerald
Dutty's SupaLite Rom at http://www.cinetsystems.com/xda/index.php?path=Lite+Roms/
Sorry no benchmaks... not yet anyway.
Its Custel 2.1
Its custel 2.1 non touch version.
Dutty Dual Touch 1.1
pagepool change to 24mb.
no benchmark.
speed is acceptable, as compare with most of the cooked rom
but definitely much much slower than my artemis

Sorry for the thread-jack but it does pertain to performance.
If I do the following:
1.) Make a backup using sprite backup (Dutty's 7b for example)
2.) Flash the same rom with a changed page pool (again, Dutty's 7b)
3.) Restore my backup
Does that in effect nullify the changed page pool? Or is the page pool buried deep enough that restoring from a sprite backup will not change it?
Thanks
-Brett.
We all in search of a fastest and max. features and most stable ROM.
I have chasing these ROMs myself for last few months.
Something I experienced quite surprised me and I would rather have people starting thinking of discuss their experience about it.
I have an old AdamExec which I didn't think was that fast so I bought a Touch. Touch felt a little faster but as soon as I load it with applications found out it has very little storage memory. Flash with a custom BigStorage ROM, speed never be the same ... not there.
Then saw a Sprint Phone which was quite fast, so as soon as AT&T got its Tilt, I bought that too. I flash the Tilt continuously for past two months. I didn't find the speed was that fantastic, it is acceptable, but not quite what I want.
Going back to AtomExec, it was on WM5, slow, flashed with a WM6 ROM cooked by Chartreux. Wow, it was suddenly came alive, faster than my Tilt. No waiting of half to 2 secs or 3 secs for every screen. It is always like instantaneous to half second. You can alway try Start -> Setting -> System right after the machine reboot you can sense the speed. Open up Windows directory is another good test. I don't care about bench numbers. I really had no complain on the speed of the AtomExec then but the machine freezes more than I expected with that ROM, besides the Bluetooth and Camera still had some problems. Also as soon as I installed more softwares, it starts to slow down.
Avoiding some applications probably will help lot more than keep searching for faster ROM. I believe getting a clean ROM first, install all the applications under its Program Files directory instead of Windows directory. There are almost 3,000 files, big and small in Windows directory, way more than that of Windows XP system. The HTC home itself contribute to tons of little files no wonder people said it was one of the apps that makes the machine slow. The EndKey also produces a tones of small files. I also suspect the Battery Status also has some effect on the performance.
My point is some applications may take a lot of resource and/or continuously running in the background and eating up the performance of the machine. Avoiding resource hogging semi-useful applications maybe a better move that trying to splitting hair with each good customer ROMs.
Okay I get it. Thanks for the information jychan28!
so basically lite roms + lesser programs = best performance.

This would not affect page pool...things you can restore from a backup never touch ROM files/settings.
Insane benchmarks!!! Someone else please test?
I was amazed when I saw jpope's benchmark posted in my ROM thread. Compare it against cashn's thread with his benchmark results and you'll be amazed as I was.
I'd perform the tests myself, but I've noticed that people tend to place less credibilty when the ROM chef publishes them.
So is anyone else willing to test & publish the results on my ROM to confirm these insane benchmarks???
Thanks in advance
it looks like the difference came from the file index.
maybe the storage card was different?
cpu and graphic indexes are very similar to other benchmarks

Reflashing Phone - what are your essentials?

Just curious what peoples essentials are on this unit?
I have been having problems with my handset for some time now, and the memory card *appears* to be corrupt.
So doing a back up of all call logs, messages etc, and going to hard reset.
I will then attempt to update it to 6.1 *wasnt working before*
My Requirements?
Internet
Sat Nav
Games
Clean Theme (like a nice subtle black)
Alarm
Back Up Utility
So What would you guys recomend for the above and what cool features/tweaks can I do with this phone?
Just read my signature.
I think most members here would agree with my choice...
excuse my ignorance, but i see WWE is just the same as an HTC rom with the latest software, is this correct, no other changes?
Secondly, I currently run an 02 ROM, would i notice many differences and how would i go about getting my internet settings (Currently there is an application that retrieves these for me)
Hope you don't mind the silly question - I did read the info but couldn't be sure.
hello
i would say 2 apps i couldnt do without are no longer hosted on here but are g-alarm and g-profile found at www.ageye.de
Also if you want to 'risk' flash (read this) 3LIT3 as i was running the o2 6.1 rom since release till about a month ago and although it is better than the 6.0 rom it is much faster the 3LIT3 rom is superior to the official releases that have been made. Also on the settings front i was afraid of this and made sure i had them before i flashed but then they are installed automatically in customisation (with either officail or 3LIT3).
Sat nav i am guessing that you are using copilot in which case there is a releated piece on how to do this when you download the o2 rom from their site.
Back-up utility i would say either spb backup - but i have heard of problems going over from 6 -> 6.1 roms with using backup software so i say sync up before and copy any import docs that you have on their before you go to flash.
Hope that answers the questions
Well i managed to flash the unit with some interesting measures.
Long story short, I couldn't get into boot loader (Still can't) but when i ran 02 6.1 rom RUU it took it to the bootloader (just vista wouldn't work) so after some hunting i found a driver which worked, well sort of lol.
And then it worked, well for the 02 6.1 release any way.
Tried Co-pilot still having issues,
Tried memory card files, still problems - i think my memory card is knackered and some of copilot is configured there so will explain why this is failing!
Co-pilot was on the rom, presume that if it did load i would have to re-register but think i might opt for tomtom now, was never a fan of copilot.
Other than that i ran PPCPim backup which works really well for calls logs, messages etc. had no critical documents on there but did forget to back up my pictures - oh well no real loss!
Is there a way to format an SD from the device its self?
I have got to say i am NOT impressed with 6.1 from 02 its so slow! my ringtone doesn't even play properly.
Edit jesus this is rubbish, i mean seriuosly really buggy have i done something wrong because they couldnt have put this out as RTM surely?! please some one tell me i am wrong.
My ringtone stutters for goodness sake, i clicked data connection and the connection tab is now overlaying everything and won't go away!?

Hi there, Do a Hard Reset and start over again installing your PIM backup, GPS, any other things you normally use. Your GPS setup files are on the SD card in '2577' folder. Unless you have the CD media do not format your SD card, you will lose your GPS setup files.
The problem is I cannot transfer anything else to the memory card, I cannot install apps to the memory card.
Sometimes it looks like they have transferred but when i open storage card up on the device it's just the normal settings and nothing that I have transferred.
This is limiting me hugely, I cannot put mp3's, mp4's on my phone, I
cannot install games, I am left with just the basics.
Im going to buy an 4GB card today and see if that resolves things
