I have a CDMA TP2, I've unlocked it (had to to use it on Vodafone AU while I was down there for a month), and now I've bought an HTC HD2.
My buddy is interested in buying the TP2 off of me, but he's on Bell Mobility whereas I'm on Telus Mobility -- both CDMA providers.
When we took the phone to the Bell store, we were told that they can't switch the phone over because they don't have "Telus' lock codes".
Is this at all accurate?
No it is all about esn numbers. If they accept the esn number then it is as simple as swapping esn in the network and changing the prl to a bell one. My guess is they need the msl code for the prl swap.

No, you cannot use a telus phone on Bell.

If you want to use the Telus TP2 on Bell you would need to get Bell to accept the Telus ESN. I don't know Bell that well so don't know if they are likely to do so or not. There is no *technical* reason why it would not work, but there is likely a business reason.
It's the same way between Verizon and Sprint in the US. The phones are technically compatible between the two, but both will refuse to activate phones with the other's ESN. Smaller US carriers (such as Metro PCS) will happily activate other carrier's CDMA phones.
Now if you do want to get a TP2 on Bell, you should get an unlocked ATT TP2. That'll support the UMTS/HSPDA network that Bell has rolled out since Bell shares the same UMTS frequencies at ATT. Outside the UMTS/HSPDA coverage area however you will get no signal.
The Telus TP2 only supports the European UMTS/HSPDA frequencies so you can't use that on Bell, even with a Bell SIM. And since Bell only has UMTS/HSPDA (no standard GSM) the Telus TP2 will only see Bell's CDMA network.
not familiar with Canadian providers, but had a chat with Bell and they can inout other providers TP2 esn on their systen. That is what the rep said.
Anyway, I believe a Sprint TP2 can be flashed to Bell or even Fido, I could be wrong but doubt it
Anyone doing it?
hey,
i am from India. My friend is going to gift me samsung galaxy s3 (unfortuantely and probably its t-mobile) from United States. i've no idea whether they are CDMA or GSM carrier. if its CDMA so my questions are :
can i get an unlock code which allows me access any gsm networks in India.?
And if it is GSM one, can i access 3g networks in India.?
i have read in a random forum that if its gsm carrier i can only use EDGE service in India.
AND the last one-
should i update official ics stock rom firmware for INDIA OR for The USA?
Is it possible to move a Sprint HTC One M8 cell phone to Virgin Mobile in Canada (or any other Canadian carrier for that matter)?
If so, what is the process involved?
Thanks in advance.
I have this sprint galaxy S4 SPL-l720 That I unlocked for using T-Mobile sim. The weird thing is if I change network preference to cdma I get sprint service on T-mobile sim. If I change the network settings back to GSM I get T-Mobile service. How is this
possible with T-Mobile sim?
