This might be a bit late, but now you have Txtract , it's released on Dec. 6th 2008.
You can now backup your SMS, Text Messages off your G1 phone into XML, CVS (HTML is coming up next) files on the SD card.
The application is available under the Tools category in the Market application. Screenshots and some instructions here http://wiki.brilaps.com/wikka.php?wakka=Txtract
My Backup also supposedly does this. I have not tested backup/restore features yet....just backup

Indeed it does, and it's a good app. However the output is so much not readable and latter processable by a not-much-computer-savy user.
Txtract 1.2 is coming up in a few days, let's wait & see what's in the bag

umm, it was neither built upon request, nor this thread is a promotion stunt. i actually saw this thread after the release of Txtract, and wanted to share the news over here.
Txtract 1.2 is released. Release notes here. http://wiki.brilaps.com/wikka.php?wakka=TxtractReleaseNotes
The application is already published on the Android Market.

Hi,
When your computer is connected, can you read/write to the card? Or, say, can you save anything else on the card via some other application running on your phone ?
Do you have the Txtract 1.2 ? It's build with Android 1.0 SDK, Release 2 (http://code.google.com/android/RELEASENOTES.html). Do you happen to have one of those drives mentioned in the release notes?
I'm getting the same SD card access error.
I'm able to read/write files when connected to a computer, and apps are able to read/write files to the SD card (specifically Android File Manager was able to copy a file).
I'm running RC30.
edit: And Txtract 1.2

There is got to be a conflict somewhere, it's odd. Which File Manager are you using? I'll try to replicate your environment over here.
A few troubleshooting steps:
Do you see a download/txtract/ directory in your SD card? If not can you please create them in that order and retry?
Can you write to that directory?
If you're a developer yourself, you can send also send me a DDMS trace.
The code that deals with file i/o is pretty straightforward, nothing fancy in there.
This seems like resolved. Another user complaining about the same issue just created the
/download/txtract directory tree on his SD card, and verified that it works.
I'll look into this in the next release, to make sure it exists. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Hey,
I just wanted to confirm that manually creating the txtract directory got it working for me as well.
Thanks.

There is an immediate bug fix release (patch per se) on Android Market, v.1.3 only and only fixes this bug - automatically creates the "darn" directory. *how did i miss that!
As for the incremental backups go, we have a few ideas flying around

Hey there is an application called SMS Backup in Android market which lets you backup all your sms to your gmail account.. It stores all sms into a label which you can choose what to name it. Easy to setup and it will do auto backup as well... So if the phone is not with you and you want to see if some one send a sms to you,, you can log into your gmail account and see if there is anything new in sms lable... Very cool application...

It's amazing, isn't it
I think, the difference might be on the Txtract side, aside from being able to send to your gmail account, you can email to whichever email address you please. I personally like to email my SMS backups to my Yahoo! email.
I think, SMS Backup is cool, but I don't like the 100 splits, and I don't like all that stuff in my gmail account. Just a personal thing.
Just to be clear, two apps serve different purposes. I'm not bashing SMS Backup, or the work another fellow software developer did. If you want your SMS messages as labeled threads in your gmail account, SMS Backup is what you need.
If you want individual files in your SD card, or your computer or your backup to be sent to your other non-gmail email addresses, Txtract is probably a better fit to your needs.
Given that the Txtract backup file is a text file in nature, you can still use your email client's (or system's) search features to find some SMS you sent ages ago

Issue:
Haven't found any solid threads addressing the issue. If you are like me, you sometimes would like to use the native android email client to do perform basic functions with your IMAP email account. The problem is, your IMAP handling of certain functions do not sync correctly with the IMAP server, say Gmail for example. When you delete or send emails, your client creates new folders, and they do not go where they're supposed to. Here is a workaround, or rather an appropriate fix (for those with no interest in installing k9 or Seven).
Requires:
Root and SQL editing. Any android based operating system.
Fix:
You need to edit some values in the database. If you look under /data/data/com.android.email/databases/EmailProvider.db and go to mailbox. Under there you have all the _id and display names for your Email accounts. For 'type' you have the following integer values
0 = INBOX
1 = Folder
2 = ? (I have none set to 2)
3 = Drafts
4 = Outbox
5 = Sent
6 = Trash
7 = ? (I have none set to 7)
8 = Search
So if you reassigned 'type' 3, 5, and 6 to correct folders (e.g. [Gmail]/Sent Mail set as 'type' 5, at the same time setting wrong Sent folder to 'type' 1 to be deleted later), it should handle it properly.
This is a similar solution to correcting IMAP issues in Thunderbird (configuration editor). I am posting this here because I have found no other real working solution to the problem, and Google has refused to fix it in their OS revisions (AFAIK up to 2.3). Perhaps a patch could be designed that adds "Set to Sent", "Set to Trash", "Set to Drafts", etc., that allows a user friendly adjustment in the native client.
Interesting post.
I'm running an HTC Inspire with a custom ROM and my settings are different, which leads me to suspect that the fix requires a bit more than you indicate.
The path and file name you mention are not on my machine. I would guess it might differ based on your Android version (Froyo/Gingerbread/Honeycomb) and/or for any vendor who customizes Android, such as HTC's Sense or Motorola's Blur.
Under the VirtuousUnity ROM (a Pyramid/Sense3 port) that file is located at:
/data/data/com.htc.android.mail/databases/mail.db
In my 'accounts' table, the data seems to be organized differently than yours. I show the three IMAP accounts with 70 (yes, seventy) fields for each defining the behavior of each account for things such as (encrypted) password, refresh frequency, notification settings, and so on.
Among those 70 fields is '_sentfolderId' field, where it shows a numeric value corresponding to the below structure in the 'mailboxs' table in that same DB.
So, let's take my first IMAP address as an example. In the 'accounts' table, the '_sentfolderID' field displays '5' as the folder to use. That would seemingly correspond to the below convention in the 'mailboxs' table. If all there was to it would be to change the '5' to '7', I'd say it's a walk through the park. But I think not.
Here's where things get interesting.
In the 'mailboxs' table, the structure is far more complex. In that table, I show a minimum of 11 settings (rows) for each ID. They appear thus:
1 - INBOX
2 - Trash
3 - Drafts
4 - Outbox
5 - Sent
6 - INBOX.Drafts
7 - INBOX.Sent
8 - INBOX.Trash
9 - INBOX.Junk
10 - INBOX.Sent Items
11 - INBOX.Spam
(I say 'minimum' because one of my IMAP accounts used for business has additional folders added for organizational reasons, so I won't include them here in an effort to not confuse matters.)
However, I think there's more to it. For each record (listed above) there are 20 fields in my db corresponding thus:
_id (i.e.: 'INBOX', 'Trash', 'Drafts', etc.)
_undecodename
_decodename
_shortname
_serverfolder
_defaultfolder
_account
_movegroup
_showsender
_lastuid
_existsize
_noselect
_haschild
_serverid
_parentid
_displayname
_type
_synckey
_enablesync
_default_sync
For the first five records (a/k/a, '_id'), I show a numeric value in the '_defaultfolder' field thus:
2147483647
2147483646
2147483644
2147483643
2147483645
These '_defaultfolder' values are the same for each of my accounts - in other words, the set of 5 values appear for each of my accounts. There are also flags in other fields, but I think that the key is somewhere in the above settings. I have to believe there's a simple fix to this (like just changing the folder id settings to add or move the numeric value above to the 'INBOX.Sent' or 'INBOX.SentItems' field) but I'd like to hear from someone else before I take the plunge.
Perhaps I'll do a nandroid backup and experiment a bit, but if anyone else has some input, I'd really appreciate it because this is a problem that affects us all and is, in my view, inexcusable for Google or any phone vendor to not remedy.
Anyone else have thoughts on this?
Does this work?
I am on 2.3.5 using the default mail app with IMAP and GMAIL. I want to reassign the ANDROID SENT MAIL so it goes to the correct IMAP FOLDER. does your idea work?
I noted that on my Mail database, Junk mail seemed to be assigned to ID 7. I had nothing assigned to 2.
I have also noticed, that the edits to the database must be made while the app is still open or it will crash when you try and start it.
This did, however, work for me.
Do I access the db with a terminal app? If yes, what command(s) do I use?

On a motorola defy running 2.3.4 I do have the EmailProvider.db databases on the path you indicated, mjmacky. But I can`t locate the `mailbox` that you recommend going to.
Where in the EmailProvider.db is it located exactly?
I pulled the EmailProvider.db out of android and into my PC (via adb) and I`m now comfortably browsing it with an sqlite manager (The `sqlite manager` firefox plugin) but I simply can`t find the `mailbox` nor any indication of strings such as `INBOX` or `sent` or `drafts` etc.
Please be more specific as to the where I can find these values.
I must say solving this issue is a big deal for me, as there`s no other way I know of being able to store emails sent via android outside of it (other then on gmail perhaps) K9 does not solve my problem as it only enables to store sent messages in either SENT folder or SENT ITEMS where as on my IMAP server (Which is on hostgator) the folder is named INBOX.sent items. (Neither does `enhanced mail` solve this problem for me.)
BillTheCat , I have followed your various posts concerning this issue and share your interest in finding a solution.
I must thank you heartily mjmacky, as this post of yours helped me solve this problem.
(Thank you,BillTheCat, as well, as the info in your various posts contributed to my understanding of my problem.)
I found the `mailbox` you indicated, mjmacky, but not in the copy of the EmailProvider.db I pulled with adb out of android into the PC, but instead with the `sqlite editor` application for android. Being prompted by sqlite editor to choose which application`s databases I would like to browse I pointed to the native Android email app. Four databases appeared, one of which is the EmailProvider.db, having entered it, `mailbox` was now visible and inside of it the folder list you specified. In my case it was id #9 that had to be edited. it was assigned to `sent` whereas on my server the right name is INBOX.Sent Items. Having edited this value inside the sqlite explorer, I have sent a test email from the android native email application and indeed, instead of saving the sent message only to the `sent` folder as it did before (a folder that does not exist on my server) it sent it also to the INBOX.Sent Items folder, a folder that does exist on my server. Having checked my IMAP account in Outlook, I can finally see messages sent by Android.
I have no words enough to thank you, mjmacky.
Glad to hear you got it sorted out. I had no luck fixing mine, but hopefully the much anticipated ICS release for Inspire will fix it.
Just as a correction, Enhanced Email WILL save sent messages to the server, you just need to tell it which folder to use.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk 2
For some reason I could not make enhanced mail do that, I simply couldn`t manage to change the Sent folder to the desired name, probably missed something.
In EE open the email account you want to change (the message list) then: menu - folders - press/hold the folder you want as the target - select the popup for 'set as sent folder'.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk 2
Thanks, now Enhanced Email works for me too. I have a problem, though, in both native email app and Enhanced Email - same behavior - message is placed now in the correct Sent folder and is synced to server properly but if it contains an Attachment - the attachments itself will not be synced. The Attachment IS being sent and is being received by the recipient but it is not stored in the INBOX.Sent Items, on the server, while with the message that contained it does get synced. As consequence the message appears without it`s attachment in all clients using this IMAP - including in the sent folder of the android client that actually sent it (Be it EE or native Android Email)
Any ideas, please?
This manner doesn't work on Xperia Mini Pro
Dear mjmacky
I've tried your manner but it did work after I changed the type to corrospond number.
But when I synchronized my imap email with the native email app, the type automatically
change back to the wrong numeric. Is there any other setting I should do? Would kindly
have your advise? Your help will be highly appreciated by me. Thank you.
Stanley
I abandoned this thread after I made the post because it didn't get any replies for awhile and I thought they would have fixed this by now. Personally, I have completely switched over to using the Gmail apps since their functionality has vastly improved over some of the native email apps. With that in mind, if you're still trying to tackle your issue, there is something to keep in mind:
My procedure could be device specific, meaning you might have to do some exploring to find the correct db file. I haven't really messed with this in 2 years, I just stumbled back and am surprised to see a post as late as December 2012.

I have a Nexus 4, and I am experiencing the same problem: was able to change values, but they revert back as soon as I launch the Email app.
Concept still works and is still necessary
Hi There,
Ran into the same problem with HTC Mail on 4.3 (Viper 3.1.3 One S) and the recipe still works as in the description of BillTheCat.
I got it to work by editing /data/data/com.htc.android.mail/databases/mail.db
Summarising:
if the account with id 3 is misbehaving, find all rows in the mailboxs table with "_account" 3. You'll have the usual INBOX Trash etc. folders, but you'll see 2 rows representing a Sent folder, likely one of which INBOX.Sent. Note the id (first column) for this folder and go back to the accounts table, and change the fields "_sentfolder" = INBOX.Sent and "_sentfolderId" = <id you noted>. Commit change to database and done.
Editing was easy with dSQLiteManager (free on GPlay), because I have more accounts I first dumped the two tables to csv and opened in excel on my computer, to have a better overview which mailboxes to change.
Unbelievable that this is still necessary, but it worked like a charm
@ikeny: it may be necessary to make sure that the mail app is not running when you commit your change to the database with your editor (I just killed it by long press back or force close from the app manager)
Cheers and thanks to OP and BillTheCat
Props to powerpenguin if he's actually found a solution, but I moved on to Aquamail a long time ago. Though it irked me to spend money for a function that my phone is supposed to have natively, I find the feature set of Aquamail and it's robust ease of use (like a consolidated inbox for all email accounts) to be well worth it.

Just an information for other people that encouter the same behaviour:
My "Drafts" folder does not sync. All other folders do. I checked the database. The "type" of my drafts folder is correctly set to "3".
Then I checked the AOSP source of the mail app. I found some comments that mentioned the drafts folder will not ever be synced in the mail app beginning with mail app version 2.
Line 351 and 1051 of: ImapService.java
Can anyone confirm the behaviour?
Sadly, I currently do not have the time to re-implement syncing of drafts.
If anybody has the time to look at this (might be really easy but I do not know whether editing the mentioned lines of code are enough) I would be very grateful.
Don't know if this applies here, I guess it is, cause it's about the IMAP folders, but I also couldn't found any "official" thread for the KitKat Stock Email app, the one that is on the play store.
So, I was using the email app, I have one IMAP account, that I really almost don't use. I entered on my email account settings (inside the email app settings) in order to see if there was something related to configure the imap folders, and for a few seconds I saw some settings that I never saw before!! You can see the attachments. You can see on the shots, Data Usage and System Folders extra settings!!
I kept going back and forward, but not always I would see those settings again and if I do, it would be for a fraction of a second. Only for a few times would stay for 3 or 4 seconds...
When those settings would stay longer, I could enable/disable the checkboxes from the sync email, contacts and calendar (it's an imap account, so I don't understand why those settings were there) but the ones from system folders I couldn't modify (enter on those). I also think that those settings only appear to me if I have the sync frequency enabled on.
Does anyone ever encountered these options?!? Does this mean that they are hiding somewhere and can be enable somehow, like with the help of some xposed addon?!
This would be very good, cause we all need to change those system folders...

Can anyone recommend a wifi sync app for the Galaxy Tab 10.1?
I'd basically like to set up a share on my PC which automatically syncs to the tab when I connect to my home wifi... I've tried a few in the market, but they all seem to have some or other issue.
Have you tried FolderSync Lite ?
I like TheRealSync for DropBox and FTP. It takes a bit more effort to setup, since you need to first sync your files to either DropBox or an FTP location, but then you can sync from anywhere, whether you are home or not. And depending on your home setup, you can probably setup an FTP server on your home PC and just share your content via FTP. Then you don't have to sync anything at home.

You can also set it to only sync on WiFi so you don't accidentally use data from your plan. (I didn't set that at first and accidentally went about 16GB over my plan!)

^-- I actually paid for the app! Its awesome!
With some port forwarding it can also communicate out of the home network (but that could pose a security risk as its not been tested in that way.) There is currently a bug that is being worked on (Perform job in pre-set order) But once that is fixed it will be a great sync app! Developer said they will try to get that fixed for the next up coming update.
Its not 100% automatic two way like i'd like (ie windows live mesh), but it can be configured to send changes or receive changes. Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend it.
I have mine configured like this:
Job 1 - send "My Pictures" changes to desktop computer.
Job 2 - receive "My Pictures" changes from desktop computer
job 3 - send changes of "DCIM" to computer.
job 4 - receive changes of DCIM from computer.

Can someone please tell me where I can find this on the (rooted) stock gingerbread 2.3.3 for the Verizon D2G?
On every droid device I have owned these settings have been here (all HTC tho).
I want to make some sync setting changes but cannot find anything aside from the Background Data and Auto Sync boxes. The Actually accounts, both Goggle and other social media networks are missing.
Could this be due to me using the 4 corner press to bypass the activation call at the start?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Blur has Settings → Accounts (My Accounts app). You can find the sync settings there; tap an account to edit them.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
In Settings I have:
Wireless and Networks
Call Settings
Sound
Display
Battery and Data Manager
Backup Assistant
Location and Security
Applications
Privacy
Storage
Language and Keyboard
Voice input/output
Accessibility
Data and time
About Phone
The my accounts app is also missing. I have reset the phone back to default using the reset option in settings.
Any other ideas?
Update:
I may know why it is missing. I used Titanium to remove some Verizon apps, "My Accounts" included.
Restoring it does not appear to work. Since it tells me the app was not installed.
Does anyone know of a way I can slip stream the apk in there, or where I can find the APK?
Thanks!
Attached .apk and .odex.
Sorry for the n00b Q here.
Where do I place the .odex?
I have only ever installed from APK. Never seen/used .odex.
Thanks for the post though! WIll save me hopefully from an SBF.
- EDIT: I think I know what an ODEX is now, just need to know where to place it before or after installing the APK.
Since I likley need to use ADB to do this and push the files if one could provide the CMD for pushing these and to which DIR they need to go I would be great-full
Thanks
UPDATE :
I used Astro to drop these into the /system/app folder and I still have them there.
Does anyone know why I cannot find Settings → Accounts (My Accounts app).
Do I need the MyAccount.APK? Does anyone have this?
Thanks!
I don't have anything like that (“MyAccount.apk”) on my stock rooted 4.5.608.
I can make a nandroid backup and upload the /system image, though, if that's fine with you.
Sure I would love that.
Failing that, may have to SBF I guess.
Let me know when and if you post nandroid..
Thanks!
See PM.
The file is, however, is a regular TAR archive (as CWM 5 uses those now), and you can open it with Total Commander, 7-Zip, WinRAR and the likes. Inside it you can find the entire /system/app directory as it exists on my phone. Some apps are frozen; you might also be interested in some changes I made to /system/build.prop (since you're a GSM user judging by your country of residence, you can safely copy it after backing up yours) — it has some tweaks added to improve GSM performance.
So after looking through your app folder, I discovered that the missing app I was in need of was called Setup.apk.
Now when I go to settings, I have the "Accounts" option.
Can't seem to add facebook to it. But I can live with this.
Thanks again for all the help.
Do you mean the stock Facebook plugin or the official Facebook app?
When you go into Accounts from Settings (which I was missing but have now corrected) and then click on Add Account. It shows me the options. Google, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook etc.
I click Facebook and nothing happens, when I click the others it lets me add a new or another account.
Facebook seems like it is just dead.
The Facebook for Android App is installed and the blur.facebook, apk or whatever it was called is still there too (assuming this is the stock plugin.)
UPDATE: I giess many ROMS don't allow FB for Android to sync contacts due to some fight with Google and Facebook.
So using an app like friend caster from one louder lets me sync some data but not all.
I guess the Sense ROMS I am used to have Facebook Sync built in. This ROM does not, nor does it allow it fully.
Thanks.

Here is how I found this out:

The final OTA for the D2G is also 2.3.3...same as what was talked about in the article.

Facebook was working for me when I was on stock 2.3.3/4.5.608
but it did change with gingerbread
but it doesn't work on most custom ROMs
the android version 2.3.3. almost doesn't matter, with all the changes verizon/motorola make to it
so you can't really compare phones made by other manufactures
I still think you need to SBF to get things working again, or at least, do a reset/ delete data
edit: when i was still on stock GB i froze a bunch of apps, and one of them broke facebook
I unfroze them but facebook would not work, tried a few different things, fix permissions, reboot, clear cache/data for apps, but ended up doing a wipe data/reset and that fixed it
message history lost - happened once or twice before - on this round perhaps due to unauthorized access - don't know why anyone would want to hack to my wechat, but...
yes, i know that titanium backup can do this - only, i happen to have a backup of the app's files from the SD card that's much later than the latest titanium backup.
so i've overwritten the message directory on the SD card
\tencent\MicroMsg\b51e1101d48c856d9e55dceeb6ea2af5\*.*
with the latest backup, but the app doesn't recognize the stuff between the titanium backup / the later files. how to force it to? how does it manage these files anyway?
(the answer to this might also help in managing the app's thousands of files in order to keep the phone functioning.)
have a try?
not knowing why your wechat got hacked, maybe you`ve got spyed by ur enemies?
I accidentally downloaded Clean Master from gp,(sorry as a new member, i`m not allowed to post a link here)
and it works well on both protecting my privacy and do the cache cleaning.

Hi, have you manage to solve the problem? Im now facing roughly the same problem. I checked the wechat directory, all my conversation and voice msgs are still there. But my new installed wechat just could not recognize it, and show a blank new wechat with no chat history whatever.
How to force it to recognize it? Thanks

turns out that the message history is NOT on the files that are on the sd card - the sd card files are thumbnails, pictures, whatnot for the visual content. the messages are in an (encrypted) sqlite database on the phone's internal flash storage.
i do not know of what logic, if any, the app uses to either open the existing database (if found) or creating a new one - i've seen it do both, despite my always wanting to use the same account / database.
if i recall right, i just bit the bullet and restored the app/data from my titanium backup, thus losing a few days of messages as that backup was not up to date.
or - on the recent versions you can backup to tencent servers / restore from there - i guess primary use for that is when moving to a new phone. they only keep the backup file 7 days, and don't let you access it locally.
as for how to access the message database in a readable format, please let me know if you figure it out - weixin (at least the old version that i'm using) destroys any device it's on by not performing any housekeeping and thus clogging all the pipes until nothing works. so would be great if the message database could be optimized/cleaned/delete oldest by an extrernal sqlite app.
(the image files you CAN delete from your sd card - which i do periodically to kill the old ones.)

Hey you said you are using titanium backup, does ot work well? let me know where do I find it
Is it possible to back up wechat messages
I want to permatenantly back up wechat messages, because all messages will lost after I re-install wechat
well, that's currently very hard to do, because tencent doesn't give you (unencrypted) access to the SQL database that contains your messages, even if you use the backup functionality in the later versions of the software.
you CAN permanently backup your messages by copying the database from your phone's flash-memory (probably needs a rooted phone). but you can't access your data due to the encryption.
someone needs to write a 3rd party app that cracks the encryption (which is easy for a geek on the know, as the encryption key is based on some device iD string on your phone). then you could actually see your messages and manage them. probably some chinaman already wrote this app, we just don't know of it.
but message history does NOT get lost on re-install (at least for me) if you install over the old install, not from scratch. or, if you've backed up your messages using the apps function for that, you can restore them from their server.
but over time weixin will destroy any device it's on as the database size and image files number grow too big for your portable gadget to handle. no real housecleaning functions are available.
I miss in wechat 1 feature. Restore of mobile chat log TO windows wechat version.
We can restore mobile chat history to new mobile but WE CAN'T restore mobile chat history to windows wechat program, or can we?
It would be cool to be able to browse my mobile wechat chat history on windows pc. As it is now, my archive is empty, lacking past conversations.
And mobile scrolling to past conversations with certain people is troublesome. It has no proper archive oh right so mb an archive in mobile too?!
Hi all
Would you please help me to unblock my wechat account?
Many thanks in advance
I need old wechat user. At least 6 months account old.

if i understand correctly, you want to piggybag onto an account someone else created. likely not available, even if the other user wanted to sell his/her account, as they in most cases require real-person verification these days.
but you might try to buy an account in taobao, usually everything is available there.
Thanks for your response..
No my brother... I need "friend help login"

Data migration from Easymoney
A way better UI than what EasyMoney has! Is there a way to migrate the database of Easymoney to ExpenseIQ without losing the photos of bills?
I personally feel like this as one of the best expense management tool. The most required part in any tool is the usability or the navigation which talks about the compatibility and that is what I can realize in this tool. I will surely try out this tool but even I have the same question as is asked above.

Hi! There are some radical changes from EasyMoney to Expense IQ so there isn't a quick solution to that. However, it is possible via some manual file movements on your device. Other than the photos, you can transfer the transactions too. Here's how you can do that.
1. Install Expense IQ.
2. Launch EasyMoney, and go to Database Tools.
3. Select Export CSV and export each individual account you have. These will be exported to sdcard0/EasyMoney/csv_output folder. Copy all the files there.
4. Paste copied files to sdcard0/ExpenseIQ/csv_input.
5. Copy sdcard0/EasyMoney/photos. Then paste the folder to sdcard0/ExpenseIQ/photos and allow file overwrite.
5. Launch Expense IQ and recreate all your accounts.
6. Proceed to Import CSV, select an account and a specific CSV file to import. Make sure all formats are similar.
7. Wait for the import and the import successful message.
8. Go to accounts and check that the transactions have been imported.
Once the first import works, please continue for all other accounts. Do note that budgets and bill reminders have to be recreated manually.
If you require further assistance, email us with ‘Data porting to Expense IQ’ as subject title to [email protected].

Just want to know if purchase/upgrade to your Expense IQ Gold Edition, how many devices (Smartphone, Tablet, etc) that we can use?
I tried the app. Very nice.
Thank you for your response! The latest version of ExpenseIQ introduced a new import option: 'Import from EasyMoney', this way the migration from EasyMoney is very convenient - thank you HandyApps! :good: The photos folder can be manually copied to the folder of ExpenseIQ.
I have started to use and I really liked it.
Are you planning to support Google Drive based cloud sync? Is there any data encryption during cloud sync?

Hi tomboyed, the purchase is tied to your Google account, so that would depends on how many devices is allowed for one Google account. I don't know the exact number of devices Google allows, but it seems that some have up to 10 devices all connected to the same Google account.

Great to hear that! We may look into other cloud sync options in future updates. As of now, Expense IQ's Dropbox sync utilises a function called Datastore by Dropbox. Datastore is some sort of Database in the Dropbox and is owned by the user only (privacy wise secure) so it won’t appear in a folder. This provide faster synchronization than conventional file saving of an entire database. Let us know if you want the link to log in and view your data, we will drop you a PM

Upgrade question.
For those of us that have purchased EasyMoney, will there tbe a discount for Expense IQ? I have used EasyMoney exclusively since I got my first Android device 3 years ago. I had moved from a PalmPilot with PocketMoney when I found EasyMoney. Catamount Software said they would not port PocketMoney to Android, although, they would to iOS. :-/ So, enter EasyMoney. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the info! Datastore by Dropbox is really interesting feature.
I am actively using ExpenseIQ, and I really like it. Although there might be some improvements that would help a lot:
In the calculator, a button to delete a mistyped digit
Photo attachment function is missing in split tranzaction
In the photo attachment screen the latest pictures should be on top
Adding categories in a split transaction, the last row is not saved, if the plus sign is not pressed on that row
There were a bunch of updates in the app, it gets even better. I hope this feedback might be usefull.
Hmmm, strangely silent about possible purchasing discount for those of us that bought EasyMoney?

1 and 3. Noted! We will look into these when designing future updates.
2. This has since been added to v1.0.4_21. Do update Expense IQ when there is an update available.
4. The + sign must be tapped to ensure that the specific category is added. We won't know whether you'd accidentally type something in the last row or genuinely wanted that last category but didn't add it when saving the entire transaction. If it was an accident, additional action on your part is needed to edit and re-save that transaction again. Thus, we decided to stop that additional action by making that + sign compulsory when adding a category in the first place.
We appreciate your feedback in helping us improve on Expense IQ!

Hello Argtine,
So long as both devices sign in to the same Dropbox account via Expense IQ's Cloud Sync and there are sufficient storage, the data of both devices can be in sync. The first device to enable sync will be the Master device which is responsible for creating repeating transactions. The data in the app will also be synced to Dropbox Cloud.
The second device to enable sync can then choose to restore data from cloud, or copy existing data to cloud. Ideally it should restore data from cloud saved by the Master device. Any changes made by either device will be synced to that one Dropbox account so that both devices will have access to the same data.
If you require further clarification, feel free to email us at [email protected]
Thanks for considering my feedback! I have already realized that the photo attachment option has been added to the split tranzactions. You are improving the app very fast!
Let me suggest one more: it would be great, if the bill reminder notifications would appear as one aggregated line in the notification bar (like the email notification) otherwise if there are a lot of due bills the ExpenseIQ floods the notification list.
There is a small FC issue: if the amount of a category line (in a split tranzaction, which was saved before) is modified, the calculator pops up, the amount is negative, any calculation causes FC.
