Ok guys, so this is my first post and first Android phone. I have been with iPhone since the very first one that was introduced but i decided to give the HTC One X a try.
My friends and i around my area all group text. i mean like i have 3 - 6 different group texts with different people in each. its how we communicate. however the only way to get group text in one thread with iphone users now is to either use handcent or go sms pro. but the problem is it freaking lags like crazy! i mean while im texting and other text are being received it completely freezes my keyboard for like a second or two.
Is anybody else having this problem or has been able to fix it?
i am really close to returning this HTC One X because group texting is a major part of having a phone for me.
I can't say I've experienced that problem as Go SMS Pro is my main txting client.
group messages from iphone users always came in slow as a MMS in handcent...i stopped using handcent on my one x due to it not being able to display syned Facebook contacts pictures.

I've tried both handcent and go sms pro. and they both lag when tones of mms messages are incoming at once. =\

Yea same goes for me. for some reason facebook sync work on both handcent and GO SMS pro. it loads into my stock messages fine though. but as for MMS coming in slow thats true to me too. for some reason it comes in individual at first then it incorporates it into the group text thread. its highly annoying and laggy. I guess there is no other way around it for now. ill have to accept the fact that i can at least have some type of group messaging working as of now. I really hope somebody fixes it though. GO SMS Pro has to convert every text message (picture or not) into a MMS to send. it sucks...
i have handcent installed but I use the stock application for everything else.. send, reply, read.. group text, receive group text as well.
I use go SMS and it works fine for me. I just wish there was a way to get the messages to still show up on the productivity lick screen.

Not from what I have read about it so far. I believe it has the same notification system as the original gear, which means I am just hoping it will give me my work Outlook emails on the watch, which stopped working after the latest update
I was able to recieve pics via MMS, unable to send any at the moment. Share button is shaded out.
As for emails. Still havent been notified through the watch and cant send anything as of today.
Update: (Some) emails come through but only text shows up. Still can't send or forward.

Hi guys,
I'm trying to migrate all my text messages including threaded group MMS from my Nexus 4 to my new Nexus 5. On my N4, I was using the stock messaging app, not hangout as my default messaging service.
I used My Backup Pro to migrate all the stuff over. It worked, sorta. All times on my threads were set to "5:02am" which is probably when the transfer finished. Therefore they're all chronologically jumbled.
Furthermore the MMS threads didn't show up properly. I would only see my response in the group thread.
PS. I downloaded the stock messaging app to use on my Nexus 5. And all these problems are shown on that app. Would you think using Hangout as default will change this?
I was wondering whether you guys had similar experiences and if you know any better ways to go about doing this again.
Ben
I use SMS Backup and Restore. Never had an issue with it. Timestamps are all what they should be.

Yup! Just make sure you check the box for MMS. I think it's free so there's no reason to not try it.

Cool, I'll give it a shot. Are you MMS group threaded or just pictures?
Okay, so I deleted the stock Android messaging app from my N5 and used Hangout as my default messaging app. And it seems like everything got transferred properly. Timestamps are all okay.
The only problem now are group MMS threads. When I open it, it just shows my responses. All the group participant responses don't show up.
Any clues?
I attached two pics to illustrate what I'm talking about. The group thread MMS only contains my response and the participant's response it buried in their SMS thread.
I use Google Messenger as my standard SMS/MMS client. This app doesn't work at all with MMS on Sim 1 on my Huawei Honor 8. I can see when a MMS message is received, but no able to download it. When trying to send MMS it doesn't go away.*
With stock messaging client everything is working.
Anyone more experience this?

have you set it up correctly with your carrier settings
I have now empty data & cache for both messenger and the stock message app, double checked the APN, rebooted phone, but no success. It is so strange that it working in the Huawei app, but not the Google one.
Is it working for others?

Stock message app is not compatible with Android wear 2.0. I obviously still use MMS, doh!
The question was about using Google messenger. Nothing else.

I don't have any issues with mine. I can send and receive no problem.
And to those who say "who is still using MMS", I prefer using MMS as I don't have to mess with any settings to send the original quality picture. For any of the data based messaging systems, the standard settings tend to compress the images to save data which causes a huge hit to quality on the photos.

Do you use dual Sim cards? I checked my colleges Honor 8 yesterday, he couldn't send or receive MMS from one of the sims either, while send or receive with the other sim works fine.

Ah that may be it then. I use a microsd card so I've never even had a chance to try dual SIM. It's also not uncommon for the second SIM slot to not use LTE networks, and I know my MMS APN is for LTE networks. Maybe try a standard APN when using the second SIM slot.

??? MMS compresses the photos far more than other messaging solutions. It has a 300 or 600KB size limit depending on operator, thus requiring substantial compression.
I don't use MMS because why would I pay 25p to send a lower-quality image? In the US, where MMS is usually not an extra per-message fee (like it is in most countries) it seems less awful, but low-quality and unreliable between carriers are still its big downsides.

Weird. I'm in Canada and I've sent MMS up to 1MB without compression. Whereas Hangouts and Whatsapp seem to default between 400-600kb. And I get free international SMS and MMS.

Interesting, perhaps there's more capabilities than I was aware of. MMS used to be 300KB and I know that was doubled on some networks, but have never heard of larger than that being possible.

No problem, I did a bit more Googleing. 300 KB is indeed the original size limit, but 600 KB wasn't a universal increase - some networks went to 1MB, some 1.2, some even larger. 300KB remains the size you can be sure-ish your recipient will get (if they get MMS at all, even in the US - I go back and forth - I have it disabled always).

Hi everyone, I noticed that if I send the request to send 2 sms via programming the first SMS is sent first and only when it will be sent will start sending the second, there is no way to send more sms at the same time ? This thing also known in the app to send text messages, in fact I can not send another text while another is about to be sent.

There is no way to send 2 sms at the same time (if someone know a way , he is free to share his knowledge).
It wouldn't make sense , I mean , and sms is a piece of text , if you want to send two pieces of text at the same time , just put them in one single sms .

Yes of course , but when the sms is too big you can turn it into an MMS. Anyway , I hope you'll find what you're searching for
