Phone Dialer Alternative - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Anyone know if there is a phone dialer we can install on the TP. The biggest issue i have is when someone calls who is not in your contacts, it comes up unknown number once the call connects and you can't see there caller ID until you hand up. On the Mogul, the number stayed on the dial screen so you could look at it and say is this your number XXX-XXX-XXXX.
Sort of a pain to work around. any insight would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

If you see only Unknown number, perhaps opposite is using CLIR service. Normally it should be available to see all incoming numbers, even is not in contactlist.
Anyway, there is a choice to use another dialer than HTC's...it's builtin MS dialer, which I find much better. All you need is to disable phone skin in Advanced Config.

Any software to make sending DTMF touchtones possible??

Hey guys,
I just started using Treo 750. I love it so far except few things I miss about my old Nokia. Earlier I used to dial a calling card number and then just choose the contact's destination number by selecting "Touch Tone" option from the menu while in call, and it would touch tone that number for me and I was connected. Now, WM5 phone app doesnt seem to be able to do it, and I have to write down the contact's number on a paper first before dialing calling card access number.
Also, I know a comma can be used a 1-second soft pause, but any possible way to add hard pauses in the phone number like traditional cell phones can do... Its cumbersome carrying calling card's PIN code in pocket, and then entering it after dialing calling card number and then punching in destination number from a paper again... its frustrating...
I tried to look up a lot of dialers and apps, but none was a helpful find. Could someone suggest any way out.
anybody???

[solved] Problem with Contacts and International Country Codes

So Ive been using my HTC Ozone (6.5 Standard, 3VO rom) for a while in israel, and the way the cellular network works is as follows:
country code is +972
the number that shows up on an incoming call is 052-555-5555.
The number that shows up on an incoming text is +972-52-555-5555.
The number that shows up on an outgoing call when dialing without the country code (aka 052-555-5555) is +972-052-555-5555.
All of these differences mean that if I have a number saved in the contact manager (in only one of the above forms), it isnt displayed 2/3rds of the time. If i send a text to ME(052-555-5555), the reply comes back from an unsaved number, in a new thread is +972-52-555-5555.
Is there a way for me to just save the base number (052-555-5555), and have the phone's contact manager realize that its the same number is the +92 equivalent? My current workround is saving all the forms of a number to a contact, but 1. its tedium to go through all my contacts and do this, and 2. you can only save so many numbers to a contact, which means im screwed if the contact has two different numbers.
I see all these fields in the "current country" setting, but I have no idea what they mean, or if that is even the solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hey , i got the same problem on my Omnia 2 with windows mobile version 6.5
The local incoming call won't show the country code, and sms does the opposite way.
check through all my phone setting, can not find any related option for this.
Thanks for anyone can provide a resolution.
i just resolved my problem. hope this way can help you as well.
get a regedit software on your windows mobile phone.
go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Phone
under it, you should able to see a key name "CallIdMatch", change the value to maybe 8 or 9, which means it will match the last 8 or 9 numbers for each incoming call or sms. (use decimal) after the changing, reboot your phone.
Wow, it worked!!
Thanks a lot man!
thanks for the tip jason_ma!
i was also wondering about it.
Anyone know how to edit CalIidMatch an an HTC hero

Dialer parameters for WinMo 6.1?

I'm not sure this is the right forum, but I can't find anywhere more appropriate...
I have a WinMo 6.1 phone (AT&T Fuze-branded Touch Pro), and I recently discovered Androkkid (http://www.simosoftprojects.com/androkkid.php), and I'm impressed, but I need to figure out how to make a couple of features work before I can be really impressed with it.
At present, I have an icon labelled "Voicemail", which I can set as type "contact" (which means that when I click on it, it dials my voicemail), or as type "voicemail" (which means that it tells me how many voicemails I have waiting for me, but clickin it just takes me to the dialler. I'd really like it if it can display the number of voicemails and automatically dial my voicemail when I click on it. Is there a parameter I can pass into the dialler that will tell it to automatically dial a specific number?
I also have an icon which displays the number of missed calls, and takes me to the dialler; I would like this to instead take me to the call history log.
I'm sure these are trivial problems, but I've been unable to find anything helpful on the Googles. Thanks for your time.

[Q] unknown callers --> voice mail

I tried a few apps on the market but when I ring my Hero from a number which is not in my contact list it still rings. I can set any contact to go straight to voice mail so it seems logical that an app could be developed to do the same for any numbers not on contact list.
Anyone knows of such app which actually does it for our hero?
Anyone? There has to be some one who knows
I use CallFilter. It works pretty well, sometimes it'll ring one time real fast, then go to VM. Only probably I've found is that if I'm on the phone already, it cuts off my call.
Yeah, I tried it but unfortunately it still rings for calls which show a number. It only works if the call has no name in contacts or unpublished number.
So the idea is really to just send anyone to voice mail if they are not in your contacts. I figured that if they want to contact me they'll leave a message and if I like to talk to them next time I'll add their number to my contacts.
What ROM are you using? If it's AOSP you can long press the number in your call log and in the menu that pulls up you'll see an option to add it to blacklist but that requires missing/receiving a call from it first otherwise I've used call filter from the market in the past which seemed to work well
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
if you want the specifics, i am not the man that would be able to tell you. but i would think this is something tasker is capable of handling.
I'm using stock 2.1 with root and some mods.
Actually, the stock 2.1 comes with an option to send to voice mail for any contact. So what you can do is make a group and put all the numbers which annoy you with this option.
The problem with ALL apps which block is that they still either ring once or somehow silence and ignore the call. Either way the call still seems to come in on display. I'm not just talking about the notification but the front display. So it seems like all these apps deal with this in one way; they simply intercept it.
However, the feature which comes with stock 2.1 does this properly and only displays a missed call. The phone does not ring and the caller gets the voice mail immediately. So Sprint or Google did something else in how they handle this. It seems like there should be an option to just let it go straight to voice mail for any numbers not in the contact list or just let the damn thing ring
Still not able to find anything working properly for hero

[Q] CM7, AT&T voicemail, Google Voice, battery life

Hello,
I finally rooted my phone last night and chose the CM7 Stable Nightly build for the HTC Aria.
Overall, I wont say that I am absolutely thrilled, but maybe I just do not see the differences yet. (If anyone would like to enlighten me on what is special about 2.3, I would be thrilled because I have not been able to find it yet)
Also, my battery life seems to be very very terrible, is this unique to me?
The main reason I am writing is that I lost my voice mail fast dial. Holding down 1 doesn't work, and I cant find how to make it work. For that matter, I can not find the AT&T voice mail number to program in there for my phone. Does anyone know how to find it?
I read that other people switched to Google Voice, but I do not understand how to use it yet. Does anyone have suggestions?
Thank you for your help
ATT voicemail number is your phone number.
You can set it in your phone by doing th following: go to settings--> call settings --> voicemail settings --> voicemail number.
After programming your phone number here the #1 shortcut will work.
Battery usage can be determined by looking at Settings --> About Phone --> Battery Use. See if anything looks out of proportion perhaps you have a renegade app!
Hope this helps and good luck!
For Google Voice you need to setup an account. You can either get an account that has a phone number and routes calls to various associated phones, or you can just get voicemail.
If you opt for just voicemail it's pretty simple to setup. Google will tell you what to type into your phone in order to forward all your unanswered calls to them instead of AT&T. It's really just a replacement voicemail service at that point, but it's pretty cool that you get transcription and online access.
I highly recommend it.
