Searching in windows mobile - General Topics

Is there an application for searching in WM?
I'm thinking of something similar to Google Desktop or Windows Search (of the indexed variety)
My main reason for this is messages, i love it in Vista when i can just bring up the start menu and start typing and it will bring up emails, documents and files containing that text.
I know the whole indexing process would take up processing power and memory, but it could be part of sync with a PC perhaps...?
Any thoughts or suggestions anyone?

Have you tried the search funtion built into WM? You can find it in the start menu

The default search only searches files. Searching in files will bring results from files, documents, emails, and even text located in your documents and emails.
I'm not aware of any, but it would be cool I guess.

Where is the "contacts" database on wm6?

I'm trying to make a contacts list for iTask.
Where is the file where you can read the contacts list on wm5/6?
(And yes, I've searched the forum up and down, and google)
Thanks for any reply
I know that before you wipe your device you can save /device/PIM.VOL file to your storage and then after you restore you can copy this back to the root directory and all of your contacts will be intact.
Good Luck!!

thanks! this was what i feared. Is there any program that can backup contacts to xml ? (the best would be invicible)
Not sure about that..Hopefully someone else will have an answer.
I have done it already in SCLPF
Hey mate,
You're at the crossroad I faced. Quickest way is to use .net cf2 in either C# or C++ or VB to access the POOM database. This will also allow you to access the calendar and tasks as well as contacts. This is the easiest way I found to get any information or picture etc from an Outlook Contact. I'm not sure how easy it will be playing around with that VOL file.

t9 Navigation in windows mobile

I have been using my vox since last three months and have updated to Dr. Gonzo's 1.1 ROM which is fantastic. I find that windows mobile has built in support for t9 search for contacts only.
I also use a nokia s60 3rd editionFP1 phone. There I use an application called skyequikey which searches contacts, mails, installed apps, games in t9 mode. Recently, another app came out named t9 Nav which searches anything which is there in the phone starting from contacts, mails, installed apps, games, media files, bookmarks, calendar entries, etc etc. in t9 mode.
Both are marvellous piece of softwares.
My query is does anybody knows whether similar software exists for windows mobile ?

Smartphone Find from Syncdata may be the answer for you. Not exactly in t9 mode. But, it searches for anything on the smartphone with the criteria given.

[Q] HTC - how to "right click" in mobile IE?

I've searched this forum and haven't found anything relevant (sorry if it's out there; please link me to the answer to this) and this is a pretty basic question. Here's my situation: I'm reading email in Outlook Web Access (just like you'd use on your desktop PC, not Outlook Mobile Access or the integrated Active Sync) using Internet Explorer mobile (my device is an HTC Raphael 101, a.k.a. P4600, a.k.a. Fuze) in Windows Mobile 6.1 but I'm assuming it works the same in most other devices. My problem is this; when I get an email with an attachment that I'd like to open or save on my HTC, and I tap on it, Outlook Web Access tells me that I need to "right-click" on the attachment to save it to my computer before opening. I've tried holding down the stylus for the pop-up menu, but "save attachment" or something similar isn't available in those options. Remember, this is accessing Outlook Web Access just as you would on your desktop, except using Mobile IE. I can't use Opera because it cuts off the top of the OWA screen, which is unfortunately the part of OWA that has all the controls for navigating your email like reply, forward, close, etc. So, does anyone know how to perform a "right-click" in IE mobile? For reasons I won't go into in this post, this particular instance of OWA does not integrate with ActiveSync or Flexmail4. Thanks for any help and/or links to answers in advance!
Hi BPB21.
Wow that is weird, you'd think holding down with the stylus with be the same as a right-click. I hate to ask but have you tried holding it down on different spots (like attachment icon vs text link etc)? Perhaps it is some javascript or such that isn't running correctly on the WM device. I did some searching myself & didn't come up with anything useful, sorry. Maybe some possible work-arounds would be to navigate to the attachment with the directional arrows instead & click on it with the action button? Or if you try forwarding the message (don't actually send), is the attachment there & accessible possibly? (I've used that trick many time with Outlook Express to get around their stupid attachment blocking crap without actually disabling it) Too bad you can't see the top in Opera since they might help you narrow down if it is an IE problem or not. Maybe changing the view mode (mobile vs standard vs single column) in Opera will render it differently..
Good luck & I'll post if I find something.

Replacement WP7 won’t sync notes

Hi,
I have replaced my WP7 (Focus) for a second time. (It’s a long, sad story) My replacement device will not sync my notes to Skydrive. It did not appear to have installed a new/additional personal folder in Skydrive.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on this?
Thanks in advance,
Dave
Hey man, you were very vague with the description of your problem but if you are having problems with syncing notes already on Skydrive, have a look here
http://www.jonoble.com/blog/2010/10...sting-onenote-notebooks-on-windows-phone.html
All your notes will go into your "Default" page in a notebook... this is indicated by an icon consisting of 3 fanned white pages on the right of the page (if you look at your list of notebooks)
At the moment, I'm guessing that your Default page (where all your new notes gets stored) is on the "Personal (Phone)" Notebook..
If you follow the instructions in the link above to get your old web notebook and select one of the pages as your default then you should be able to sync automatically onto skydrive.
select and hold on a page that you want to make default and select the "set as default" option.
Hope this helps
Hey Hboos,
Extremely helpful. Between your solid advice and that very good article (which I saved) I was able to clear up multiple issues I encountered from having to replace the device twice.
Thanks a million!
Dave
only somewhat related
sorry that this is not 100% related, but is it possible for me to sync my replacement phone with the zune software that i used to back up my previous phone. ( i mean things like music, and photos)??
thanks
You can manually sync them, but you'll be starting all over. The backups will not transfer to different phones.

Gmail Notes Sync??

I just switched from an iPhone 4 to the Inspire and I would like to have everything synced all the time like MobileMe. I did the whole Gmail syncing and the contacts seem to work great and the mail however I can't get the "notes" folder in the mail app to show all the notes. Any help?
First search the marketplace for "google" there are alot of addons.
I know reader is there i use it. And groups, photos etc. can also all be reached by going to www.google.com/ig and logging in. I have found no real limitation with the stock browser and igoogle yet.
Hope that helps.
unless im thinking wrong here, android doesn't really include a notepad app like iOS does. there are a few different cloud solutions, but i believe it will involve you copy and pasting your memos into a new app. i like diigo.com combined with powernote on android.
good luck
Actually I'm referring to the folders in the mail itself. On my computer it shows the notes in the folder but once I view the folder on the phone it only shows one note.
