I traveled to China several times because my work and I saw in Beijing 2 kinds of different mobiles there:
1. The ones that are a copy form models like iphone and others, that mobiles they normaly are selled to foreigners and are very cheap and bad quality.
2. The original designs form China in mobiles that are also very cheap but those ones have very good quality.
So before to make any buy search very good in order to find the model you really want, also beware of the shipping methods as in some countries like mine, customs donĀ“t let enter electronics only if you pay a lot of taxes.
Hope this helps
Good luck

[IDEA] xda-phone with Android?

Hi, I'm seeing in many chinese pages, like m8cool , many manufacturers of smartphones with Android, it would be feasible that we try to reach an agreement among us, by voting, to choose the features most compatible with the custom roms, and present this proposal to that small chinese manufacturers , and make us a good price? It would be the xda genuine phone , free , unlocked, and fully customized
Greetings
Nobody likes the idea? , chinese manufacturers are improving, in "m8cool" there are several examples, "W700" for example have Tegra2, 720p video, 1500mah..
Im sure that we can make a good phone, best one
no one dares?

[Q] How many Moto G Users do we have?

Hey Folks,
as my HTC HD2 died last week after 4 incredible years i was looking for a new Phone to go for.
After making some research on the Net i decided to buy a Motorola Moto G.
The price/performance relation seems to be stunning due to the countless reviews i read about this device.
Maybe there are better ones (related to price/performance relation) which are available in Asia but it is a pity,
that these devices are most kind of still not available in Germany or maybe also other big parts of the world.
This Phone is often mentioned as a beginners model in many reviews. I do not see it like that, cause the
specifications of this phone are at least for me more than enough. Even as a heavy user which plays a lot due to
modding and custom-rom related stuff.
I asked myself how many People will buy or bought already a Moto G. Will this device be a global break through?
What do you think? For that question i wanted to start a poll to count how many Users we have got here on XDA.
I hope that i made the right decision for me and that there will be a lot of development for this phone in future.
EDIT: Sorry for the mistakes in the poll.
i think for the money the g is a great device. but even for the money i KNOW in the US you wouldnt find a phone with similar specs in that price range. alot of the reviewers negative remarks on the device are just being picky. Trying to rank it up with devices 2x the price is really not fair.... But the fact that it does what it suppose to do as a phone in the real world and offer unlocked platform SHOULD have any xda member look twice at this phone! the g will be a welcome addition and to me will show that you dont need all these touchwiz and sense ui to make a phone great while offer it at a price point thats just not seen in todays smartphone world!
also should have my g in my hands later today so i cant wait!!!
I don't own the device (more interested in the Moto X, but skeptical of lacks of devs and roms), but I hope the Moto G is a good landmark to look back one day at the transitioning away from the whole overpriced post paid contract business model of American carriers. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be seen as a breakthrough by the mass in US since everyone see the worth of phones being $99 or $199 with their contract, so even without contact which they aren't used to the Moto G isn't seen as anything different for them. Whether it's a breakthrough or not is depending on how many billions Google decided to run ads campaign for it compared to Samsung and Apple for their devices.
I love what Google is doing with the prices though, already a decent chunk of people to demand better value for their money and hopefully that will grow and cause other manufacturers to adjust their prices. Besides you wouldn't want to pay a few hundred dollars extras just for the privilege of using something with more bloatwares with slow updates.

Best venue to sell cellular devices online besides eBay?

Hello XDA Community! I am not sure if this is the right place for this, but I just thought I'd try asking here first. Anyway, I have been selling cellular devices, tablets, etc. on eBay for the last couple of years and to be honest I have grown quite sick of their policies and their inability to handle fraudulent returns. I was just wondering if anyone else buys/sells cellular devices for a living and have had better luck with a different venue? I know smaller ones exist like Swappa, Amazon, etc. but their policies forbid BAD ESN or broken devices from being sold on their site and I deal with a lot of these too. There's got to be another, better site out there for buying/selling new, used, and broken devices. If you could share I'd appreciate it!
Anyone?

Which is the best budget Chinese tablet brand?

Hey guys. Over the last year I have marveled at the tech products that have been coming out of China. I used to be like most Americans, and labeled a brand junk if it was not a well-known name. After brands like Oppo, OnePlus, and Xiaomi have had such great feedback from customers in the West, I did some research. I was amazed at how affordable great tech could be.
Now recently I have wanted a tablet and have done a lot of web surfing. Ive come across many brands like Teclast, Cube, Onda, Pipo and others. I've watched a lot of videos, I've read forums in Russian and Chinese, and havent been able to make a brand choice. For the price these things go for coming out of China, I know its a risk. And of course I still have my doubts about customer service and warranty concerns.
Just looking for some guidance. Please sharing your experience with one of these or other affordable Chinese brands. Im interested in knowing about customer support (if any), warranty (if any), but most of all reliability and longevity of any Chinese brand youve used. And if you could direct me to vendors, thatd be great too. Right now Im on aliexpress reading feedback reviews for different sellers. All this said, I know its risky going with lesser known China brands...but I wanna test things out. Losing a couple hundred bucks wont kill me.
I figured after seeing how popular Teclast is here, that it may be the choice. But Ive seen praise for other brands as well. I feel a thread like this can help people in the future.
PS - Shout out to Hendrickson for his informative videos. They were a great resource.
24 hr bump
Final bump.
Right now Im leaning towards Onda and Cube because of the numerous issues the Teclast X98 has according to the thread here on XDA. Threads over on Russian and Chinese forums cite the same issues.
Please discuss and vote.
Instead of bumping (check the n00b's guide!) you should go and ask here.

Thanks for the advice...but that thread is centered on mainstream devices. I specifically wanted to discuss Chinese brands. I really wish the Teclast had its own subforum now. Its thread is already huge with over 7000 posts.

Chinese rather than UK model issues?

OK, since it's not getting a UK launch, I've found a company I can buy Mate 40 Pro+ from, but I'm finding scary stories about buying a chinese (rather than UK) phone -
"Updates will be OTA, however you may not receive updates correctly as you will be using a UK SIM, not a Chinese SIM" and others!
I have no experience of ever buying a non-UK, sim free phone. I really need to know all the pitfalls or possible difficulties, and I need them spelled out in simple terms - don't judge
Any help really appreciated please as I need to decide if this is a go or beyond me.
Thanks, Stewart.
You do get a lot of Chinese apps, most you can remove or disable but you will get Chinese feeds and you may not be able to change some system apps languish.
They are usable, I have had many, OTA updates work fine, in fact you get more updates on China versions than others. The Chinese apps like music and video player do tend to be Chinese oriented rather than global, so best to use 3rd party versions.
I would suggest buying from a good dealer, Wondamobile will pick up import duty as some others may but you may get stung for duty from some stores.
