TouchFlo MP3, won't play from Storage Card - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi Everyone,
My first post on the forum, so "Hello"
OK, so I just got my first ever smartphone, the lovely Touch Pro. I got it through Vodafone, which meant it had the hideous Voda skin on it (red on white). So the first thing I did was reskin it using the black skin in the Diamond section. That's worked a treat! So thanks for that guys!
I've since bought a 8GB Sandisk (Class 6 ) MicroSD card. It was ready formatted (if that's even necessary) and I copied some MP3s onto it straight away. I indexed them in Windows Media player, and they play back fine. However in TouchFlo MP3 player they are not seen!
After alot of hacking around last night, I found that on a very simple level, it just doesn't seem to be looking outside of the "Music" folder. I renamed it to old-music, and no MP3s are found at all now!
On a more complex level, I got regedit and checked the audiomanager settings, I added path to /storage card/ but TBH I think it's ignoring those settings as it still doesn't work, and won't see anything outside of /music/
Is this possibly because I've used the Diamond skin? (which doesn't have a storage card), not sure if anyone else can confirm?
Does anyone have a Black Skin from the Touch Pro which I can use?
Or any other ideas?
Thanks guys!

Got my files in /storage card/Music and it works fine.

How fast is your Orbit?

Hey folks,
I've had the O2 Orbit for just over a week now and have been trying various things with it. However, I noticed it took me 1 min and 2 seconds to access the windows directory!
Is this normal? Please post how long it takes you to access the folder...
Thanks!
SG
My Orbit Specs:
WM OS 5.1.342 (Build 15096.3.0.0)
ROM version 1.25.206.2 WWE
25 secs. Only had spb shell running as well.
Wow! That's quick, wonder why mine's so slow? Please all, post your times!
my specs are exactly the same as yours! what build and version of WM5 have you got?
WM5 is extremely slow at accessing the Windows directory using File Explorer. I find its quicker when using something like Total Commander, but even then its not as quick as WM6. Nothing to do with the processor speed, bug (if you like to clall it that) in WM5.
Yeah, I used File Explorer. Hmmm... you make an interesting point.
HPJ - what version of Windows Mobile are you using?
I'm on WM5. It's about as vanilla as they come. Like I said, I am only uing SPB shell....nothing else...the rest is out of the box! (And I might even ditch shell as it seems to run my battery down quicker.)
Oh, I have the storage card fix...that's it.
Yeah, I have the Currupt SD Card fix too...
All I have done is installed TomTom Navigator 6 , iGo-my-way and a couple of games.
This still doesn't explain why there's a vast difference in time to access the windows folder. Would be good to see what others are getting.
One thing I noticed is that my phone is unlocked. I put my Orange sim card in and it works!
Also, I've got an icon put on by O2 that actually lets me close programs down from the Today screen..
SG
markquinton, could you give us your time too?
yeah Ive got the icon from o2 with a load of things on it....
have you timed the opening again?? sure it wasnt just a one off? seems a bit odd, mine always opens before 30 secs
I've tried accessing the folder 4 times, it takes over a minute each time...
SG
o2 Germany released an official Windows Mobile 6 ROM, maybe that will satisfy you.
Just my two cents.
If you look at my common file dialogs you should get a time of 15-18 seconds for a windows directory on a wm2005 device to display. After that its ~7 seconds for a sorting in order of name, size or type if you click on the header. Thats showing all files (ie not hiding dll's etc as many file explores do).
Get it here from my old site http://odeean.veritel.com.au/programming_files/commonDialog.htm
SG - I wouldnt mess with the German WM6 (unless you really know what your doing).
If you've tried all else, and you're still within your 14 days, get o2 to pick it up and send another. And chuck something free in there for messing you about.
It just shouldnt take over 1 min, and you might find other problems if the phone has some core problem....could just be a lemon
Thanks for the adive HPJ.
This is something I did think of. But everything else seems to work ok.
There are a few reason that makes me want to hang on to it though:
I had spent 2 days getting my calender up to date.
I only use Outlook at work, but due to security we cant sync any devices to our computers. Do you know the best way to get my Calendar off the Orbit?
For all the other software I've put on, I've got a back up on my home computer so real problem putting these back on.
The other thing that makes me not want to give it back is that the phone is unlocked. I'm using an Orange sim card in there and have still got my O2 sim in my old phone. Are all the Orbits unlocked or did I just get lucky?
SG
You've got some cool files on your website Odeean...

use dotfred's pimbackup for calender (and contacts, and tasks, and sms...) backup.
and spb backup (the trial allows 5 x uses). save both to a storage card and execute on another orbit
(i agree, o2 don't lock their phones, and btw i don't own an orbit but all stock roms take forever to open windows)
i just tested the file explorer vs gsfinder, and the inbuilt file explorer was quicker
I have an Orbit. It takes mine roughly 6 turns of the colour wheel to get into the Windows directory with Resco Explorer. Its set to hide ROM files only; .dlls, .cpls, etc are shown as normal along with file extensions.
Its much faster after a hard reset. Its slows down as more files are placed in there. Sometimes (especially on the Universal) you can get a small reduction in the time by moving all the help files (htm and their relevant gifs/bmps/jpgs) to another folder (you could delete them, but then you would have to reinstall if you break something).
I think its the type of file that gets placed in there. If only software authors would stop loading the directory with squillions of little files, if only MS would set IE to use the SD card as the cache directory by default and if only various other things like ring tones, today plugins, etc could go somewhere else.
Decentralise, etc.
Thanks bbobeckyj for that program, I'll back my phone up tonight. So it's not just my phone that is slow
I understand where you're coming from ward, it's a shame that the device doesn't keep files in tidy places. This is the same for the Storage Card, there are folders created on there which have no files or stuff that never gets used!
Yeah. I keep finding folders called "FilesToBeDeleted". They're always empty.

How To Improve Your TMO Wing

im starting this thread for all the tmobile wing users so we can improve our device weather its how to speed up your device change the way it looks or even were you can get some good accecories if you no something that helps out then post it. if you have the cab files or zip files please post em it will save the trouble of us having to search for them. all your help be greatly apreciated by all who use em.
for dialpads i recommend going hear paulya.com
total commander(file explore and registry editor)
TCPMP(grate for viewing movies in diffrent formats)
Battery Stattus (overclocks device as well as displays battery stattus on today screen)
claunch (havent used it yet but i heard its a great app for displaying icons as shorcuts on the today screen)
icontacts(nice simple app for scrolling through your contacts)
very nice. i will look into these since i got rid of my MDA, and the dash wes terrible. So, I finally broke down and got the wing on Friday. thanks for the links.
i think it would be nice if you would post a step by step iphone theme thread, i have been trying to figure this out for a week and i still cant get it!
iPhone theme video would be nice...
"tunerhead24" is right! Instructional detailed video of how to install the iPhone theme or interface on the T-Mobile Wing would be nice.
wing!
im agreeing with the others about the step by step iphone theme install, love it.
there is great feature called SEARCH. its been discussed here and countless other places, or better yet, if you want an iphone so bad, go buy an IPHONE!!
You can find a real nice home screen called "HTC Home" at www.freewarepocketpc.net. Very nice for touch screen. You can also find matching dialers and media player skins there.
My other big tip is use Opera for you web browser. The mini version is java based freeware, the mobile version costs 24$ but is well worth the one time fee.ed
Almost forgot, screw the iphone its an over glorified ppc phone that touts features that any ppc phone has, and it also puts a spinning hard drive in a mobile
device.

Thanks for all the great app suggestions...they're awesome!!! I have a question for anyone who thinks they know the answer. Does anyone know how to make the caller ID for an incoming call larger? I had contacts Pro and it sucked...it didn't recognize callers from your SIM and it seemed useless with unknown callers. I took it off my phone but the basic caller ID is o tiny. I can't barely see it. HELP?

Faraday (Cingular 2125) crashes running TCPMP

Hi,
I like my Faraday (Cingular 2125) vs. my old Audiovox 5600 (C500 I think is also known as) because of its screen brightness, newer OS, and also I can copy files over to it using wm5torage without having to remove the minisd card; however, it crashes on me a lot when running TCPMP to view avi files, these are the same files I use with the 5600 using the same version of TCPMP (version 0.72RC1). I'm kind of discouraged and was wondering if anyone else have the same problem. what happens is I can watch for say 10 minutes then the smartphone version of the windows hourglass (you know that round circle signaling it's busy) would come up and i can't watch anymore, the phone doesn't actually crash but I just can't use TCPMP anymore. I can turn the phone off but turning it back on requires a battery removal.
I've already tried using an older version of TCPMP (0.71) and that didn't solve it either.
i don't believe there's any rom update for this phone (but if there's one please point me to it).
anyway, please give me any advice that you may have. man, i like this phone but i just can't stand it much longer.
thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if it'd help: did you try playing with the video settings?
yes I did
yes I played around with numerous video settings but no luck. thanks though! i think i may go back to my good old SmT5600
had the same problem on my tmobile sda but i never got to fix this problem because i lost it days later but found a SMT5600 a week later and i dont have this problem on it not even now that i have it upgraded to WM6
i switched back
yeah, i just switched back to my 5600. the one main reason i wanted to try a 2125 was because it could run the utility WM5TORAGE that treats its storage card like a USB mass storage device, hence copying files to it was fast. however, i just found out today that when using activeSync to copy files to my 5600, there's a setting in activesync to tell it not to convert to the mobile device format which helped speed up the copying quite a bit so I'm pretty content to be with my 5600 again.
I upgraded to WM6 once with my 5600 also, but the number of features felt quite overwhelming plus it seemed a little slower. does it feel like that to you?
can you point me to the wm6 rom that you used? i may try it out if it's different than the one i had used.
thanks.
for me it feels like it has a good speed not normal but good enough to do things and not get made for the slowness and for the rom i used the one in the link on my signature (Audiovox SMT 5600 (HTC Typhoon) with WM6 < check it out) it may be missing things and may have bugs but for now it is mostly stable
Ill wait for some one to make a better rom

How to remove/change HD2 windows files

Hey, this question maybe was asked before, but couldn't find it any where. We can do a lot of tweeks with removing/ changing file in WM6.5 folder, but every time i try to do so it says "Acces denied". what i do wrong and what i need to do. your help and tips are welcome!
Blue skies...
Try Total Commander
For the language tweaks on this forum, and other stuff where you need to "overwrite" ROM files, use Total Commander.
It won't allow you hardcore stuff, but for many tricks advertised here it works.
Thinking of it, I wouldn't be able to come up with a good search term for this either. However, the threads with tricks do tell you to use TC.
thanks, but where do i use Total Comander? on PC or on HD2?? thanks again?
p.s. i wnated to change welcome screen to them nice girls on one of the theds and it didnt alow me!

Total Commander runs on the phone. It's basically a file explorer alternative that does a few other things, like registry editing, as well.
It allows you to overwrite read-only and system files that aren't in use.
You should have no problem replacing the startup images with it.
hey johncmolyneux, i see you are one of poor UK HD2 owners with skinned rom. i'll show up stupid again but where do i find TC on UK O2 rom. i had one on my touch pro but i just can't see one on HD2. maybe because O2 removed it? maybe you know link to download on for HD2? thanks in advance
don't worry, found it. anybody need it as weel it's freeware on
http://www.ghisler.com/smartphone.htm
Glad you sorted it. I just found it by googling.
Incidentally, I'm an O2 user, but my phone isn't an O2 one - I bought it SIM free. Also, Total Commander doesn't come on the standard ROM either, so you would have been looking for it regardless!
I didn't think O2 were doing anything to the phone. Have they skinned it then?

I've only played with the lockscreen myself, and I did that by copying the cpr file and the associated png files into the windows folder, and then just to be sure, I copied the cpr file into the \windows\lockscreen\ folder as well.
That worked for me.
As far as the start screen goes, I'd raise the problem in the thread that you got the screens from.
Good luck
hey, thanks, i just managed to do welcome screen, but still figthing with lock screen. could you please give link where i can find working lock screen files as ones i've got seems not working! thanks

How Do I get Cookie's Home Tab and other apps on to my fuze?

Yeah I finally got my activesync to work and now I want to put stuff on it, but I'm a noob so I don't know how. I bought it from eBay unlocked since I use t-mobile. And came pre-rommed or whatever you call it with White GTX. I don't like it so much but I do like Cookie's Home Tab look. So How do I even do it, cause I don't want to hard reset, cause I'm afraid to lose it's unlock capability. Also I was wondering where do I get apps and games? I was thinking of using http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ for it, but I still don't know even how to put it on. Please respond! Thanks.
Moved as not software release.
Place the .cab on phone and launch with file explorer.
CHT has instructions regards killing Sense 2.5 before hand.
Ok, my 32gb storage card arrived. So do I have to extract a file if its in Winrar .cab?
