As per subject;
How do i automatically turn off my wifi connection if it's not used for n minutes?
I manually turn it on when i wish to use the net but allways forget to turn it off, thus battery life is affected.
Any ideas?
cheers

I was wondering if people turn their internet connection off on their Fuze when they get done using it or do you just leave it connected 24/7.
i do because i use it to fetch my email. having it on already makes it nice to just open a browser and go too. i dont always set up email after a rom flash and it will disconnect data after about 2 hours without use.

I found that leaving data connected when the HSDPA signal is very poor would cause my battery to almost fully discharge in around 6 hours!
However, when configured to automatically disconnect after a few minutes of inactivity it gives around 2 full days of use on a single charge.
Yes its on all the time. I use push email. I turn of 3G most of the time to get better battery life.
Hi everyone,
I have been searching all day! No results.
What i am looking for is for my wifi connection to switch off automatically after xxx time if idle. sometimes i update stuff and forget my wifi on which drains my battery. i know that normally it switches off when device goes to sleep, but i set it to stay on in standby. useful when on msn.
Can somebody please point me to a solution for this.
Thanks
Yeah buy G-Profile its just 5 euro. And u can put on wifi or of by cell towers time, day, calender evement, or if an program starts running or if your computer is connected on activesynce, external power source, under a call.
You can do the same for the volume, blutooth, etc..
Great program
Connective Tools CT Scheduler
See here http://www.connectivetools.com/ctscheduler.html
Switch Wi-Fi Mode. This new action allows switching Wi-Fi mode on and off. As well as Bluetooth and FlightMode, this action could be used at night, for example, for extending the battery life.
Try this - it may help.
Go to the settings tab, menu, all settings, connections, wi-fi and click "wireless networks". Go to menu, advanced and then you can set "Turn off wi-fi if not connected in:". It's set to never by default, but if you set it to a time then wifi will automatically turn off if it's not connected, after that period of time.
Hope this helps

It only applies when there are no available hotspots.

Yeah - I just reread the OP and see that he's talking about idle time. I use this so I can switch wifi on when I get home and forget about it. It turns off when I leave the house, which is ideal for me.
Use wireless time : http://www.pdainfo.org/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=52f3bfde5b6bad62fb558bed9f80c503&topic=222.0
i appreciate all the suggestions. these are not what i am looking for.
let me try to explain this again. i switched on WiFi, useful it for mail, browsing etc.
left my phone aside and forgot to turn WiFi off. since the connection is not used for xxx of time , then WiFi should switch off automatically.
do you think this is possible?
same here, i want the same options, my older touch phones had it, but not this one, and i dont fell like installing another program just to schedule the wifi, when thats the only option i need.so now what i do is, Just try to remember to turn my wifi off, at night, and when not using. so your only safe option, other than installing external software is remember it. and it helps improve memory, so you'll remeber to take your pills when you get old
So there are three options
Keep WiFi on during sleep
1) Always
2) Only when plugged in
3) Never
What option to set if i want Wifi to turn OFF after some time of when phone sleeps. Previously i had set the option to 15 minutes but that option is not available in ICS and i m having a hard time understanding how these options work on my sensation.
Can anyone explain what each of these options do ?
why would you want wifi to turn itself on during a sleep ??

1.) WiFi on during sleep.
2.) WiFi only stays on during sleep when your phone is connected to a charger (maybe USB too)
3.) WiFi off whenever the phone sleeps.

Thanks, with option three it is also written (it may increase data usage) What does that means
it means when wifi is off mobile data will be on
Unless you uncheck this option under settings > mobile network

I think that means that since WiFi will be off the phone will use Mobile Network Data (3G for example) so more data will be used.
Hi Folks,
I can't get my Wifi to switch off when the phone goes to sleep. I've gone into advanced and changed the 'keep wifi on during sleep' to never. I also have turned off 'Scanning always available' so apps can't scan but it STILL won't go off when the phone is asleep!! I rarely use my data allowance with my contract so my 3G is always off and I would like my wifi off when I'm not using the phone aswell but just can't get it to go off
Any help appreciated, thanks in advance
Change it to
Keep WiFi of during sleep=always
And
Tick off =scanning always available.
Your Wi-Fi should switch off during screen lock. Don't expect it to turn off immediately though.

As I said in my post it says 'Keep wifi ON during sleep' not OFF ......and I have it set to never which is correct.
Hmmm u r right it says on. What i observed is it takes a bit of time to go off to make sure user is not going to use it soon.
How to keep wifi on during sleep?
don't turn it off?
i turned off the power safe mode somehow, it still go to sleep after an hour or so of none usuage

but isn't this automatic connecting to the saved wifi connection when within range? thanks
sleep option has been removed so you can try to disable optimise settings under device care/advanced and see if that hopefully makes a difference and/or go adb route
