allow sms using email client (WM 6.1) - General Topics

Hello everyone,
i have a serious problem. Through my company exchange outlook account (OWA) i can send email that at the end will be delivered as sms. I have just to insert into "to" field the following "address": [sms:+44123456789]. Unfortunately i think there is a control on the email address format because it says it can not send sms through the email program (you can try from your diamond). How may I solve it? i found a possible solution, modify
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\Settings]
"AllowSMStoSMTPConcatenation"=dword:00000001
"AllowSMStoSMTPAddress"=dword:00000001
but i cound't find a registry editor that saves the settings! i tried phm registry editor, resco registry and other desktop one. I can change the keys but they are not mantain the setting after the reboot. With the desktop registry i received an access denied when i try to save... in which am i wrong?? thanks

same issue
i found ur post after searching for "AllowSMStoSMTPAddress" on the forums. i too have the same issue. i use the stock htc wm6.1 firmware that came with my tytn ii. i can set the correct values and get outlook to send sms to email via the rogers gateway. but after a soft-reboot the settings revert back to default. its annoying!

bump
bumping this again. anyone got any ideas for this?
i was thinking maybe to make a reg file that applies the settings during every soft-reset, since the settings take affect without needing to reboot or restart outlook. but not sure yet how to make wm6 run .reg file. will look into it now...

Live Messenger on Raphael

Hi,
Is there any way of installing Live Messenger on HTC Raphael?
I had it on my HTC S710 WM6.
Can i copy it from the S710 to my new Rahpael?
Thanks

maybe?
not one of those worked on my fuze.... really frustrating trying to get my hotmail email on my fuze.. you would think microsoft would make it easy for you to use MICROSOFT hotmail when using your MICROSOFT windows mobile phone...
This will probably not help you much but monx has included Live Messenger into ROMeOS².
Maybe he could provide you a working cab-file?!
HTH
f*ck it, i'm pissed, so i ended up making a gmail account, and just forwarding my hotmail to gmail. everybody's been telling me to do that for a while, this is what finally got me to do it cant believe how easy it was to set up a gmail account on the fuze!!

I had the same problem and used the same sollution ... just took a g-mail account to forward my e-mail to.
It is possible
Hi,
It is kind of a effort to get Windows Live Messenger to work on a Raphael without it being pre-installed. Trust me, I know. I went through the same pains as you guys did. Every cab file I downloaded just simply didn't work....
But I've found a solution, but it's kinda tedious to do it. And I can't really remember what I exactly did. In general this is the process:
1) Download a registry editor, for example Resco Explorer or PHM registry editor (google it)
2) Download the cab file for Windows Live (without messenger) from Microsoft.com
3) Download Windows Live Messenger 10.6.39.1300.cab. It floats somewhere on xda-developers
4) Pick up your old WM device with Windows Live pre-installed and also install a registry editor on it
5) Install the registry editor on your Raphael. After that install Windows Live with messenger. Don't start it!
6) On your desktop open the Windows Live cab (no messenger) from Microsoft with winrar (http://www.rarlabs.com) and extract the xml file located in it. Open this xml file with notepad
7) In this file scroll down until you see the registry edits it uses when installing. What you need to do is compare these to the ones in the registry of your Raphael. I can remember that a string named "Login" was missing from my Raphael, so I manually added it to the registry of my Raphael. But there are more that I can't remember.
8) Take your old phone and compare its registry entries for Windows Live Messenger to
the registry of your Raphael. Copy these over.
9) Start Windows Live every now and then to see if it works. When it doesn't compare the registry entries again and copy some over. Eventually it will work...
I told you it is a lengthy process, but eventually I got it to work...
I am no programmer so I don't know how to make a cab file for automatic addition of these entries. Please try it this way. When it doesn't work, I'll try to dig into my registry and post the entries here.

Weird... I can get my hotmail emails through the messaging, and i didn't have to do anything fancy....
I made a cab running for any TPhere the link:

It is the same posted in wiki
works great! thanx!
only windows live cab that worked on my fuze thanks

Pocket Outlook settings?

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to build a small utility that would correctly set up Pocket Outlook for my e-mail account. Whenever I flash my device, I want to run this little program, removing the need to manually configure it.
The problem is that I can not find out where Pocket Outlook stores its settings. I'm pretty sure it's not in the registry (where I would expect them...). Can somebody help me with some info on this?
It's a WM5 device.
WIth kind regards,
Jurrie Overgoor
I've already found the answer, so for future reference: check http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa457968.aspx

[solved] Text message account cannot be used to send email messages?

I recently upgraded my HTC Wizard (Cingular 8125) from Windows mobile 5 to Windows Mobile 6.1.
Everything is working OK, but I just learned of this... on WM5, I could send an SMS text message to an email address. On Wm6.1, I get the error message "Text Message account cannot be used to send email messages". Is there another way to send SMS messages to an email address? Or, is there a setting somewhere (in the registry) that will allow me to select an email address as a SMS text recipient?
Thanks!
sms is std only a thing you can send to a telefone number
but an network can offer the service to pass on sms's to email address
so i suspect you need to get what ever 3th party program did it on your
wm5 rom and install that and it should work
if the program is not there you cant do anything with the reg as it's not std wm functionality

hmmmm... thanks for the hint. I'm not really sure what program I had under WM5 -- like I said, I have a Cingular 8125 and the WM5 was the "factory" installation.... does that give you any clues?
As far as I know I'm not running any special 3rd-party messaging client -- I assumed that the SMS stuff on my WM5 was the default Windows Mobile Messaging client... the interface on my new Windows Mobile 6.1 looks pretty much the same (except I can't select an email address as a recipient for an SMS message).
thanks

I found my answer... the HTC Diamond ROM that I had downloaded, was missing some registry settings to allow SMS-to-SMTP thru the AT&T phone network.
the answer was already on this site, sorry I didn't find it sooner!

TXT/Email rcv ok. Send/reply pop-up window issue

Hi,
I have the ATT Tilt 2/HTC Touch Pro with WM6.5 stock att rom
I can receive text messages and email fine --no issues with SMTP or POP or email connectivities whatsoever.
The issue is within the WM6.5 email app I think.
When I select NEW TXT or REPLY TXT (same with email), I no longer get the new window popup that allows me to reply or email. I can send and receive fine but cant send/reply or even OPEN AN EMAIL MESSAGE. I can download email messages fine and they are listed but tapping on a message does not launch or open the entire contents of the message.
I have tried deleting the email accounts and deleting the Attachment folders from both SD card and \windows location as well as \windows\messaging.
Anyone have any idea what I need to reinstall or tweak?
I did load WM6.1 IE on this phone versus the stock browser.. not sure if that comes into play.
Any thoughts?
Hmm.. so on a hunch, since I had installed WM6.1 Pocket IE as a cab file, I went ahead and removed it via the REMOVE PROGRAMS.
That seems to fix the trick, but alas, Im back to the IE6 Mobile version which I hate.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO INSTALL POCKET IE (PIE) alongside IE6 Mobile that comes with WM6.5 without overwriting the 2 files together? I really hate the look/feel of IE6 Mobile and prefer the older versions of PocketIE.
I guess at this point, I have to determine which is more important:
-TXT/email functionality or IE/Web browsing (with the old version)
You could try this HKLM\Security\Internet Explorer\MSHTML change 1 to 0 and soft reset, that will take you back to old PIE
