I used netremote on my htc 9100, but after upgrading to htc touch pro and installing the netremote app it give "netremote is not a valid pocket pc aplication".
What can that be and how can i solve this?
Some people says to shutdown touchflo it works, but thats no solution for me and i also don't know how to shutdown touchflo.
Proximis gives me the following answer:
The PPC has an 'optimization' where any DLL that's loaded into memory that has the same name as a DLL your app is trying to load will be used instead of the one that's in the same folder as your app. I bet that's what's happening here. It's the PPC version of DLL Hell. The hard part will be finding out which DLL it is.

Some programs have an option checked in their cabs to prevent them from being installed on smartphones. I suppose in theses cases the developer has a good reason to do it because some ppc program scan't even be launched on smartphones. But it's true a lot of them work good and sometimes you don't even need the help of a fake cursor program, you can navigate the program with the d-pad.
mean have to arrange cab file? how to do? and if software must install whith activ sync?
Give me the cab you are looking to install and I'll have a look at it.

trouble installing software touch screen on vox
I try to install and use software for touch screen on my VOX, but when i run the software i receive an error about missing library. I run the same exe on a ppc without problem. Any ideas about missing libraries thanks
Was wondering if someone can tell me which file contains the IE plugin used by apps like Pocket Wikipedia. Ever since PIE6(WM6.1), its not working correctly. I know it has nothing to do with IE executable, n I also tried replacing some dlls I saw Pocket Wikipedia using, without any luck. What did work was restoring an old backup of a WM6 setup I'd made via spb clone onto the new WM6.1 setup. The restore got stuck in the middle where it was unable to restore registry entries, but it did restore software n even the IE plugin . The end result, as far as I could see was all WM6.1 other than the IE plugin. Now am using WM6.5 and I kinda like the new IE... so dont want to risk it again. Is there a way to simply replace the plugin file?
This is a must have for all HTC Tornado phones. With this software, you can perform various functions by talking to the phone. For example, you can activate the program and say dial Home, and it will call your house. With Digit dial, you just have to utter the numbers and the program will call the number.
This software is bundled with all Dopod 577w phones - WM5 version.
However, when we install our phones with cooked ROMS which have a different ID, this software won't work anymore because it is only bundled with phones with 'dopod577w' ID. However, legally we have the license to this product already.
Hence, with the help of SGregory, here I present you the patched Cyberon Voice Commander which will only work for HTC Tornado.
Here is how to install the software.
1) Install the original Cyberon Voice Commander
http://rapidshare.com/files/247751443/CVC-SP-AME-Dopod-51215-BT.CAB
2) Extract all files in this cab and overwrite the files in your phone
http://rapidshare.com/files/247759639/CVC-SP-AME-Dopod-51215-BT.zip
After installing, just reboot the device. You can access the program by holding the left soft key.
Note - I tried to package everything into a single CAB using Win CE Cab manager but it did not work, I get an error message saying that the cab file is not digitally signed. Can anyone tell me what went wrong?
Enjoy
FAILED
it doesnt work on my dopod577w w/ wm6.1 neoshadow. i followed the instructions and replaced the files...still it dsnt wrk
Sorry I forgot to mention, this CAB will only work for SGregory WM6.5 ROM or any other device with the ID of TORN100
Try to use MobileRegistryEditor to edit your phone registry, did you see the ID of TORN100 there?
We can't make this CAB accessible to all smartphones as it will be tantamount to cracking. Currently we are just patching this CAB so that it works for Dopod 577w users who already have the license to this product.
Also, this software can only be installed to main memory currently which consumes precious storage space. I have tried moving the entire folder to storage card, the software still works. But it can no longer be accessible via the long hold of left soft key.
Someone needs to look into the CAB to fix this. Meanwhile, one can consider using AE Button Plus to configure just that.
I packed all files in cab. Now install cab in device, and use it
Please, test
Can it be installed into storage card?
Will try it later
will this now work for wm6.1 or is this still for SGregory WM6.5 ROM only?
On any device with the device id of TORN100
need help whot manila!

There's a couple problems in doing this as I see it...
First, Changing the Soft Keys when using the WinMo interface (NOT Manila/TouchFlo) requires a registry Hack. I'm assuming that there's prolly a different registry setting somewhere to change what Manilla sets the SoftKeys to, but you'd have to find that first. Maybe someone who is more familiar with the Manilla interface and where registry/settings are, could give you that info...
Secondly, I don't believe (or at least know of) an Executable app that Locks the device. I believe the built-in "Device Lock" functionality is calling a DLL or running service/exe or something, but I don't know of an EXE in the windows directory that you can click on to lock your device. Another post I read mentioned something of a "lock.exe" file in the \Windows\ directory but I believe that was a reference to a 3rd party app since I do not have/see that file. Again someone with more knowledge - please feel free to step in and correct/inform.
in light of those two problems I would recommend using the built-in (or at least built-in on my phone - Fuze w/ WinMo) "Long Press End Key" option found in Start > Settings > System which can be set to lock the device when the "end" key is held down. This option may or may not exist on your phone... I am not sure if it's just something HTC included on mine, or what.
I hope this helps a little bit, or someone else can be of better assistance.
found it
thnaks for ur answer i found it de devicelock is hidden in windows right now i cant remember if its a.exe or what but its named devicelock.
i sold that phone to a friend and now i got an opal, its funny because i found my own q while looking for the same app
Hello Guys,
I recently contacted the LogMeIn Mobile support team and there are lots of people here which has problems using Logmein with your phone. Here is their reply:

Hello,
You can use a Windows Mobile device to connect to your LogMeIn computer.
Device requirements:
Windows Mobile 5/6/6.1
Touch Screen
ARM CPU
You must use Pocket Internet Explorer as third party browsers are not compatible with the LogMeIn Remote Control plug-in. You must also use the generic Windows Mobile keyboard, as specialized software keyboards may not transmit characters correctly.
Successfully tested devices:
Model
Also Known As
HTC Apache
PPC-6700, XV6700
HTC Mogul
PPC-6800, XV6800, P4000
HTC Touch
XV6900, P3450
HTC Touch Diamond
PPC-6950
HTC Touch Pro*
Fuze, P6500
HTC TyTN
Hermes, 8525
HTC TyTN II
Kaiser, Tilt, 8925
HTC Wing
P4350
Palm Treo 700wx
LG Incite CT810
Samsung Epix i907
Samsung Omnia i910
Samsung Saga SCH-i770
Samsung SCH-i760
Samsung SGH-i830
Note: If you're unable to use your HTC Touch Pro's keyboard during a remote control session, this is due to a key mapping problem brought upon by the device's eT9 text prediction software. While we do not directly support this, you can find other users' best practices and workarounds on the LogMeIn Community http://community.logmein.com.
Also, we have discovered an issue when connecting to a LogMeIn computer using a mobile device running Windows Mobile 6.1.4 / 6.5 and IE6 Mobile. Currently, it is NOT possible to connect with these devices due to incompatibility with the plug-in.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

LogMeIN IE6/8 workaround
I have found a work around there is an ap called I.E. Toggle I got from PPCGeeks.com that allows you to switch back to Pocket IE from IE6. This is a great tool and use it just for this, best of all you dont need to soft reset it does it on the fly.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=65154
No joy in Win Mobile 6.5
I had logmein working nicely in win mobile 6.1 using IE Toggle, unfortunately having upgraded to 6.5 it no longer works.
When I log into logmein using PIE it directs me to download and install the RACtrlCE plugin but when I go to the link it downloads RACtrlCE.tsk (which does nothing useful) rather than RACtrlCE.cab like it used to. I tried installing it from a cab I had but that didn't work either so after searching around I ended up here. I guess logmein and 6.5 is still a no go, I have contacted logmein support to ask if they have an eta on a fix.
I really wish they'd just do a stand alone app for windows mobile, it would be so much easier.
I was actaully able to run logmein using IE toggle and a cooked rom on my TP2 using WM 6.5.1 (one of the *energy* roms). Although I just re-flashed to another rom that was more stable overall running WM 6.5 and now encounter the same problem described above. I am directed to the .tsk instead of .cab for the plugin, which does nothing...

wow. thank you. logmein finally works on my samsung saga. i am however very dissapointed in the support from logmein. i had an email chain with their support dept about the issue with windows mobile 6.1 . First they said it works, then i finally got them to achnoledge that logmein has an issue with wm 6.1 . After that they would not even respond to my emails. I would ask them when they expected a fix and no answer at all.
i wish there was an alternative to logmein other than rdp or others that require port forwarding .
I've now found that if you rename the downloaded RACtrlCE.tsk file to RACtrlCE.cab it will install and then logmein will work using IE toggle. Hope that helps you out.
I got logmein to work on my TP2 WM65. I installed PIE
Rebooted the device.
Then installed IE Toggle
Launched IE Toggle and selected Pocket IE and went to logmein
Logged in installed the plug in and it worked.
Sorry if this was posted previously.

Spoke to soon, there is an issue with it that I could not fix. After loading these cabs Logmein did indeed work.
However the changes caused my TP2 to not be able to display text conversations. You click on a text message and it would display the keyboard and say one conversation selected but you were still seeing the default list of texts, you couldn't see what you were typing? SMS messaging still worked but you couldn't use the default conversations lists.
I have since removed all the cabs for logmein and SMS messages are displaying perfectly again?
This cab breaks the text messaging, it seems: XDA WM 6.1 P.I.E For WM6.CAB.
I'm able to get everything working if I don't install that cab. My only issue is that the key mapping with KforTouchPro_v1.0.0.3.CAB (which I believe is needed also) isn't quite perfect, from what I can tell.
SOLUTION - this works
Heres a solution for those of you who have been finding that logmein wants to download RACtrlCE.cab file to install on your phone and that this doesnt seem to do anything, it wont install. Heres why. Youll love this, its actually quite simple.
When the file downloads it says its a cab file, which should by all rights install, however on my phone it brings up the "Windows Mobile Today" which allows you to select backgrounds/screensavers for your mobile. Why? Its because when it saved the file it put a hidden .tsk on the end a on windows mobile file name extensions like .tsk .jpg .avi etc are hidden from you so all you get is the name of the file but not its .jpg bit so "john.jpg" becomes just "john"... its named the file RACtrlCE.cab.tsk but your mobile doesnt show you this file name is says its a .cab so this is why it doesnt fire up.
So what you need to do is rename the RACtrlCE.cab.tsk back to RACtrlCE.cab and it will run.
2 WAYS TO DO THIS....
Sync your device on your pc or mac and use "explore" to get in to your mobile folders from your computer and find RACtrlCE.cab.tsk and on a PC it will show the needed .tsk bit
**(provided your PC views mode isnt set to hide filetypes - if it is go to windows explorer on pc, tools menu at the top of screen, folder options, and untick "hide extensions for known file types". If your on Win7 youl find the folder options in CONTROL PANEL... does the same thing)**
Right so now you can see your RACtrlCE.cab.tsk and youve renamed it RACtrlCE.cab unhook the phone from pc and go to the folder where RACtrlCE.cab is and click it and hey presto, it installs perfectly.
Now the next bit is to use the IE6 toggle software if your getting problems and this will allow you to switch from IE6mobile to PocketIE6 which can run the logmein application. (IE6 toggle page is listed earlier in this same thread
METHOD2:
Oh yes if you want to do this renaming of the file on your phone without PC connected, "File Explorer" wont show you the .tsk bit on the end, its hidden and always will be because "file explorer" is dumbed down. What you need is a tool called "total commander" which I think is free (?). Install this and its a powerful file explorer which does show you the .tsk bit which you can easily rename to just .cab and then you can double click the file RACtrlCE.cab in total commander and hey presto the .cab installs.
Hopefully this fix will blow you away.
This was done on a HTC Touch HD2 phone with original T-Mobile ROM unlocked and put on to the latest generic HTC official ROM.
