Opera Crashes - Touch Pro, Fuze General

One of the bugbears I have with the TP is with Opera. I should state I'm operating in an area with a poor signal, generally one bar in HSDPA, switching over sometimes to 2G GPRS at two bars.
Most of the time I use facebook, and quite often Opera will crash out or hang. Sometimes this is bad enough that I cannot re-start Opera, nothing at all happens when I try this. Occasionally it will complain it has run out of memory, even though nothing else is running and the task manager at the home screen states memory usage is around 50-60%.
Once it has crashed, the memory usage stays high at maybe 45%+ even when nothing is running. A soft reset is the only cure, and the only thing that allows me to go back into Opera.
Is it just me or has anyone else experienced frequent crashes in Opera? I'm also wondering whether having a poor signal is partly responsible, it may be that if Opera is forced to wait too long or retry communications too many times, it gets upset or leaks memory.
Anyone?

Opera crashed
Hi,
Yes, I have encountered similar issue which I am planning to hard reset maybe caused by those 3th party apps installed keep u posted the outcome.

are you on t-mobile? untuick the box to stop it using the proxy, mine used to crash on secure sites like facebook login page or barclays. disabling the proxy tick biox worked plus you can start using msn messenger which was blocked with the proxy

Crashes for me too. I've installed a newer version, but it has the same problem. I get the impression that Opera isn't quite finished yet...

Yes I'm on T-mobile, and I've already unticked the proxy box, it was preventing me from using facebook at all.
I've always had the crashing problem, even before I installed any software, so I don't think a hard reset is gonna help.

Internet Explorer occasionally not loading pages

Anyone else experiencing an issue where IE will not load pages after the phone has been on and connected for a while?
With WM6, device stability has increased such that I rarely soft reset. But with this I now get an occasional become more frequent incidences where I acts like it's loading the page then finishes with a blank page. Restarting IE (ending process) does not affect. The solutions are cycle radio (off/on) or soft reset.
I have no trouble during these times using other internet capable applications such as GOOD, Opera mini, Google maps, etc. - just IE seems to be affected.
Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this and who might have some ideas as to what is happening...
TIA
corroborated
I too just started experiencing this today for the first time, after having had the device for about three weeks. Haven't reset yet...
GI
edit: I just now turned off the radio, forcing ie to re-connect, and pages are loading. NB: device had been running about 72 hours since last soft-reset.
Sorry to have this confirmation, but good to know I'm not alone.
More details: I have tried several WM6 ROMs and no appreciable affect on this issue - it happens with all of them. I'm currently running the 223 ROW with the extended rom hack and provider apps deleted. Possibly it is something in the provider bloat that helps this? That would be a first, but I have not left the provider stuff on since I started loading WM6 ROMs. And I can't remember now if it was happening with the OEM WM5.
Anyone with WM6 and still using the provider apps having this issue?
TIA
Same Problem here..
Yahoo Go! and other programs connect and work fine. Opera loads like normal. But when i try to access a page with internet explorer it looks like its downloading the images (progress bar moves) then it just stops and shows a blank white page. This started when i updated to the new mobile 6 rom from htc. Now when im connected using wifi internet expolorer loads pages fine. Im stumped I hope someone finds a fix for this as its driving me nuts.

['Solved'] Weird data connection issue (only java aps and tethering seems to work)

Hi,
I have a very strange problem with my HTC touch pro.
I have a data connection for just about everything (Edge, although I didn't disable 3G), but (might be a coincidence) ever since I installed opera mini and JZ smartmort my data connection only seems to work for opera mini, ebuddy (the 2 java aps I use) and tethering. Anyone have an idea what might cause this behavior?
TIA
EDIT: Strangely enough after having this issue for several days, almost a week, while just looking around in the connection settings (I don't even think I changed anything) it suddenly worked again... very strange, anyhow, thanks to anyone who tried to help

Wifi connection connected but won't load pages

It said connected in the wifi setting and it shows bars but it just won't load any website in the browser .. anyone got a fix for this?
I have the same issue. Tried different combinations of restarting wifi, turning on/off cell data, on/off wifi calling, etc... all with no result. I've also tried on different networks (both public and private)-- it'd start working for a while and then all of a sudden stop and never work again.
Seems similar to the problem here: forums. t-mobile.c om/t5/T-Mobile-G2x/G2x-WiFi-DNS-issue-not-the-4G-switching-one/m-p/831439 (sorry there's a new user no link restriction)
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

is it specific to the browser or can you not move any data?
Idk, whenever I have had problems connecting to the tmo network, which is a separate issue.. it was always that wifi calling was still on even tho wifi was turned off. Every time I had probs w/ data on tmo network, it's been wifi calling.. Your case seems to be diff tho.
Is it specific to just your network or all other networks? Try shutting off wifi, reboot... then turn it on again? Idk.. just tossing out ideas.
Some found the root cause and I am posting his finding as I do have the same issue and can reproduce the error:
I think I have discovered a new WiFi-related bug in the G2x's software. I have witnessed this occurring on my phone, and have also reproduced it on a store demo unit. I believe it is unrelated to the switching-to-4G problem people are having with the My Account app, since it occurs even if I have set up the Google account on first boot after a factory reset.
The details of the problem are:
- Every so often, the phone randomly gets stuck in a state where it is not able to initiate any new connections that are made using a DNS name. Attempting to navigate to a web site, h**p://w*w.google.c*m for example, will result in a generic failure message.
- However, attempting to connect directly to an IP address instead of a DNS name works perfectly. For example, navigating to 74.125.225.16 will work fine and will load the Google home page.
- When the phone is in this state, using a DNS lookup tool such as "DNS Lookup" from the Marketplace *will* work, even when using the default DNS server address that the DHCP server is giving the phone.
- The problem has occurred for me when data is off and WiFi is on. I do not know if data being off is a requirement, since this is the way I usually run the phone, so this may be coincidental.
- Switching WiFi off and back on again will *sometimes* work to solve the problem, but sometimes will not. When this doesn't work, switching WiFi off, then switching data on, then back off again, and then finally switching WiFi back on again will occasionally correct the problem. However, I have seen situations where none of these things worked, and the only way to get DNS working again was to factory reset the phone.
- I haven't figured out the exact pattern yet, but this issue seems to occur when the phone has been inactive for a certain period of time. I have often discovered that the phone is in this state upon waking up in the morning after leaving the phone on the charger overnight.
- I have, however, found a method to reproduce the problem that seems to work fairly consistently:
1. Turn WiFi on, and data off.
2. Power cycle the phone.
3. When the phone starts up, start the browser and attempt to browse to w*w.google.c*m. It should fail.
4. Try to browse to 74.125.225.16. It should work.
Just wanted to get this issue in the forums to see how many others have been noticing the same thing.
I know that once the device has less than 10% battery it automatically turns the WiFi off to save battery power. Were the devices this was happening on have a low battery?
Fully charged. It even happens when pluged in with the charger.
My Wifi wouldn't even work if I froze it with Bloat Freezer. It has to run in the background for wifi to work. I found that Wifi can get really inconsistent with it disabled.

Same problem here. After about 30 minutes of being idle, as soon as I pick up the phone it tries to connect 2g/4g. The log are saying theres no connection, so it appears that wifi its going to sleep and not waking up so android is trying to connect 2g/4g
Really starting to be a pain
I have frozen the bloat, and I think the problem is getting worse.
Toggle airplane mode is a quick workaround to get wifi to wake up
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Same thing happened to me, I did 2 factory resets, and it seems it has been fixed, don't really know what causes it.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
This may or may not be related, but...
It looks like I found a hacky fix for the dns/wifi/4g bug: install "Set DNS" from the market.
Now when I go into market, and display my downloaded apps, it jumps from wifi to 4g then back to wifi as it should, fast.
Whether or not it should even do go to 4g is debatable, all I can say is my 2 Galaxy Tabs had the same behavior.
If everyones connectivity issues are really due to the DNS settings getting wiped out, then this will work around the problem until I/we find the location of the actual bug.
Would you guys having this problem also post it here?

Thanks.
I figure the more people that post there, the more the chances are of LG fixing it quickly.
Work around:
enable airplane mode
reboot
enable wifi
wait a few seconds after the wifi connects, background crap stops
disable airplane mode.
The set dns app looks like a winner. Haven't tried it but that's what's
wrong.
The freezing and other suggestions are all useless crap.
Updates...
I did a factory reset and installed JuiceDefender (I don't know which one worked) but it seems to be all fine now... will update if things become problematic again
I've been having this problem as well. I've always been able to fix it by toggling WiFi off and back on again. I downloaded SetDNS and when it happened again last night I tried that and it worked great.
Glad to see it's a software problem and not a hardware problem.
same problem here. hopefully it won't happen in cyanogen mod

This fixed the problem, at least until the next time I reboot my phone
How do you use SetDNS? This software bug in G2X reboots my router (DGL-4500) sometimes.
Question bout SetDNS app
Does the phone have to be rooted to use the setdns app? I try to use it but it says "Cannot get root. App will not function."

Unresponsive data connection in Android

I've had this issue with my Nexus S on CM7 for a while now (well I've only had the phone for about a month) but only recently realized it was probably Android or my phone that was the problem.
What happens is I'll be browsing web sites whether it be in the stock browser or Dolphin HD and internet just stops responding. I would open 2-3 sites and after that, nothing else would load. The green loading bar would go about 1/8th of the way and just stops. Eventually, it typically starts working again later on as I usually just give up and go on with my day.
I always figured it was my providers data connection being unreliable but the other day, I set it to wifi and it did the same thing. I would even load the same sites in my iPhone4 side by side with my Nexus S and the iPhone would load the sites just fine while the Nexus just seems stuck.
These other threads seem to have the same issue without being resolved

I rooted and installed CM7 pretty much as soon as I got the phone so it's hard to say whether the issue is with this ROM or what exactly. I also use the TEUV-Trinity kernel by morfic.
I realize this is a fairly broad issue. Was wondering if anyone else as experienced this and if you could help pinpoint the issue, that would be great.
I'll also add that shutting down and removing the battery for a few minutes seems to fix the problem for a while. Browsing is nice and quick afterwards.
Thanks

Lollipop: After flash, Wifi lag

Hello! I flashed the stock image two days ago, as I was not part of the initial wave. Everything seems to be working great, but with one exception. When connected to wifi, anything that must pull information from the web has major lag. For example, opening facebook (or facebook messenger), or instagram, or twitter. You get the idea. Opening facebook messenger, for instance, takes around 9 seconds to load a conversation.
I did a ping test through my phone, using google.com, and found that it took around 9100 ms.
If I disconnect from wifi, which switches me to LTE, this issue disappears.
Switching from wireless 2.4 ghz to 5 ghz makes no difference.
While I have found bug reports about problems connecting to wifi, I haven't really found anyone with this specific issue. If anyone has any thoughts, I would greatly appreciate them.
Update:
Speed test shows that my wifi connection is running at normal pace. Ping test showed a delay, so I am assuming that is where the problem is. This problem does not occur on any other of my devices using my wlan.
I'm experiencing the same thing, unsure of what's going on. Facebook is so sluggish and everything else I do on the Internet seems to be so slow...
Same for me
I am also having issues with WIFI on Lollipop. I always seem to be connected to the network but when I open apps that use the internet connection, it takes forever to load. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other mainstream apps are having a real hard time loading images
I am having the same problem.
Weird thing is that I was at a different location today and used the wifi there without any problems. Didn't have time to figure out what was different with their network configuration.
Same problem here.. both on my phone and my wife's. If anyone here hears of a solution... please post back.
Fixed

Actually... I fixed this.. I have a D-Link-655 Router.. I had a firmware from 2012 on it.. I updated to the latest from 2013 and I no longer have problems with wifi-lag on mine or my wife's phones with Lollipop. Something to consider before fussing with IPv6 settings.
