Hello all,
I have been frantically looking for some free app that shows actual traffic reports with incident description like Yahoo!Go 2 & 3 do it.
Installing Yahoo!Go 3 worked but the grafics are all messed up and only a screen touch will redraw the content. I know this has been an issue ever since the new HTC T-series came out. My old Kaiser worked fine.
Here my questions...
1) Can Yahoo!Go 3 be fixed or some sort of additional driver installed so that the app renders the map and content correctly?
2) If that is not possible is there any other software out there that takes advantage of the Yahoo Traffic feed API (http://developer.yahoo.com/traffic/rss/V1/index.html) or software that does the same thing?
The reason I like the actual report is because it gives me a better idea how severe the traffic really is. The Yahoo report shows the time of incident, severity an ETA on when the incident will be cleared and other useful info. The Google Map's color segments are nice, but being able to make an educated decision on what route to take based on actual incidents works better for me.
BTW, I life in the bay area.
PS: There is a new community based WM app out that tracks other usesrs speed and lets them update the traffic status in real time. The software is still a little buggy but this could be something really cool.
Here the link : www.waze.com
Thanks everyone for your input.
New in the Android Market is an App called Tesco Locator. Shows your nearest stores by distance (By GPS, or search for other city), with opening hours, store facilities & maps and directions.
Please download, and let me know what you think. New features coming soon.
Just too good app. Don't know how I managed without it so far... Keep up the good work!
Cheers / Raj
Thanks Raj,
There will be a minor update this weekend, and hopefully some added functionality before the end of April. We're actively looking for ways to improve the app, so if there's anything you'd like to see, we're open to suggestions!
If people could add ratings on the market as well it would be much appreciated!
Change it to Supermarket Locator and add Asda, Sainsburys etc into the mix
Now that would be a nice app lol

agreed! =]
For some reason, I can no longer to my online shopping from my N1. I've tried it from a variety of different ROM's and even got others to try too... it would appear Tesco is blocking us? The page just wont load, although the exact same url loads fine on my PC.
So, make this app so it works in conjunction with their online delivery ordering and it would be a winner. Scan a products barcode and then press 'add to shopping list' would make this an awesome app.
I e-mailed all the major online grocery shops a month or so ago, no-one was interested in an Android app and it almost makes me angry. Everyone loves the iPhone, but give it a couple more months and Android will be the dominant online mobile device (right now it's actually almost even!)
**Double post**
Thanks for all of your feedback.
In response to the Supermarket Locator, this is something we are currently looking into as a possibility. It has always been on our agenda to open this project up to the other supermarkets, and hopefully we can make this happen in the not too distant future.
AndyCr15 - That's definitely something which is being actively pursued. We have a few ideas for future development of the Tesco specific app, and we are investigating the best way to get the information and functionality onto the Android platform. Product searching is a mammoth area, so I cant promise anything immediately, but it is happening!
There will be another release in the next couple of weeks, with a new feature or two, and some code fixes for efficiency, and hopefully we'll be able to release regular updates and new features.
Hi there,
is it possible to get the application outside the UK? I live in Germany and it doesn't show up on the market (Android 2.1/ Samsung Galaxy Spica/ Portal). I will be coming to the Uk shortly and I just wanted to give it a test.
Cheers, Patrick
Hi,
At the moment our Locator is only for UK stores, and as such we've limited it's availability to the UK. We didn't really envisage a need for it to be included in other markets!
The GPS based location finder wouldn't be very useful from abroad, but there is a text search field as well, so I'm sure it will be of some use. Will you have a data plan or WiFi access whilst in the UK, as this is necessary to obtain the store details and maps etc.
Could you send an email to [email protected], so that if we dont choose to open it up to other markets, I can at least give you the apk to install?
Whats the source of the gps data for this?
Only asking because I normally use google maps for this sort of thing, but their data is imprecise and can be quite a way off.
I was looking for a B&Q the other day and maps showed a cluster of three - none of which were located correctly, satelite view and streetview confirmed this.
If your data source is better than google's you could be onto a winner.
BTW I just checked my local tesco in gmaps and its about 400metres off, in the wrong road in somebodies back garden!
I would guess he's used Google's data. Do you really think he's been able to go round to thousands of Tesco's to check? I could be wrong of course
Hi guys, pjmurphy123 is away this weekend but I also developed the app with him.
I can confirm that the locations (latitude and longitude) of the stores are supplied by Tesco along with the actual address, postcode and phone number if available.
This should result in our app providing you with more accurate results than using google maps.
Hope this helps

Okay, cool I wonder where Google Maps get there location data from then?
Just to let any followers of this thread know, that we have released an update for this app over the weekend, allowing the scanning and storing of your Tesco Clubcard, which can then be scanned by till operatives direct from your phone.
I hope that this feature adds some value to the app for a few people. There are some other features which will hopefully be available to be released in the next week or so, so keep your eyes open for that.
If you do find the app useful, please can you add some ratings or feedback on the Android Market.
New version uploaded allowing shortcut to Clubcard to be placed on to Android home screen.
Thinking of adding in shopping list functionality next.
Interested in peoples thoughts/feature requests
Hi guys,
I posted here several months ago searching for beta users to an app I've been helping out with.
For those of you that don't remember,m Zazu is a mobile app that is capable of verbally waking you up in the morning to your calendar, email, weather and news! It released in the Android Market earlier this week. The basic app is free, and I’ve been told later this week they will be releasing features like calendar integration, advanced RSS controls, better voices, etc.
I’ve been testing the full version for some time now and have even played with some of the features they are releasing shortly as indicated in an email they sent last night. It's incredibly useful to have the weather read to me as I'm getting out of bed, followed by my calendar appointments, so I know when and where I have to be for my meetings. I also get some comic relief the mornings I don't want to wake up...thanks to the Onion's rss feed. The current voice is so-so but while testing Zazu, they showed us some pretty sexy voices so I’m guessing that’s on its way soon!
All-in-all, it's a kick ass app with some very promising features, wanted to share as I thought you may all enjoy it as well!
hey guys,
i also just found out that zazu's giving away free coffee to people that are trying out zazu for a while. try it out!
Hi,
I developed an app called "myProfit" that is already on the Android Market as a free ad supported version and a paid Adfree version. Its a financial calculator to figure Profit, margins, markups, price increase, price discounts and for good measure I threw in a tipping calculator.
Its been up for a couple of weeks now and my free version is up to 450 downloads with a active install of 75% and a whooping 6 download for the paid version.
I haven't gotten a lot of feedback on it yet. There has been three ratings one 5 stars, one 2 stars and one 1 star (with one comment of "Ads are annoying"). I use Flurry to track the analytics and out of the active users there is a large percentage that use it multiple times on a regular basis, but of coarse they haven't rated it.
I was wondering if any of you guys could go check it out and see if there are any bugs or issues that I haven't caught. Any advice/constructive criticism is greatly appreciated!!!
I can't post outside links since I'm a new user so to find my app in the Android Market simply search for myProfit. It's the only app that will pop up.
Thanks for the help.
**The images I've attached are slightly different then the current version that is on the Market. Tomorrow I'm release another update to the app and these images are the new screen shots. The only thing that looks different is the calculate button.**
I updated myProfit on the android market, so the above attached images are now correct.
Please let me know any of your thoughts.
Thank you
Kevin
looks well, going in!
Cool!!! I'm excited. Let me know what you think.
Thanks!!
i think its smooth. the ui is kind of boring. looks like the market. good app!
how about adding finance managment? maby a in app purchase feature.
something like the person enters an amount that they have and can add to it or subtract with bank statment style looks. an option to export it would also be cool. also maby even integrate this feature with printershare or sim. apps for printing straight from the device. so much you can do. looks good so far. what do you think?
I really appreciate your input! I like a lot of those ideas. Don't be surprised if you see them implemented in the app down the road.
Thanks for taking the time to check it out!!!
