From what I know, till Android gets out in market (That means yesterday) there was no andoid roms to be ported on HTC devices only linux but running from wm OS.
I am sure that now Android is out there a lot of people will try to work a complete OS to be ported on other devices.
I am also very interested on this
Cheers,
PD: So this news means that very soon developers can start working on android to be ported on other devices!!!

If you wanted an android device you should of bought one, although most HTC devices are capable of running linux, no drivers exist and have to be written from scratch, i think the vogue is the only win mo phone with a flashable android rom
PS,
Android isnt all that .... lol you may end up with a grass is greener on the other side situation lol

I need Android software.

Hi, I have a HTC HD2 (WVGA) and I wanted to dualboot it but I can't find the
Android software.
Could someone give me a downloadlink for Android 2.1?
Thanks.
HD2 will never be able to run Android officially, but it may be developed by the community to port a working version of Android to HD2, otherwise I don't think it's going to happen any time soon, however don't hold my words. AS of now, you can't

It makes the phone able to boot android if a version of android has been ported to the device.. it has nothing to do with making android actually compatible with the phone...
once someone ports it to the device it should help..
No offence or anything, but why post this question in a forum that specifically says
"Technical discussion of Android development and hacking. No noobs please"

Wowser, thats a request and a half!!!!!
What do you know about porting, coding, programming, drivers etc?
If the answer is zero, id suggest spending the next year or so on learning the basics first before even thinking about the above
(apart from that, i doubt what you are asking can be done, depending on what device you want to port it to, there hardware issues to consider, compatible drivers etc to name but a few )
Good luck!

[Q] Help creating custom ICS ROM

Hi!
I'm new on XDA and on Android programming. I want to learn how to create a custom ROM for my Nexus S i9020A (and who knows posting it here for you guys as well) . The thing is I dont know where to start! Im familiar with Windows, Linux and Mac, so the OS isnt a issue, but how can I begin? ASOP seems better? What do I need and etc?
If anyone could help me, would be awesome!
Thanks a lot!

Make sure you are running ubuntu 10.4 and you can find info HERE and HERE.
So the recipe to start is ubuntu 10.04 (LTS) and the download the source?
Thanks!
Any help with adding root, busybox, deodexing, unsecure boot.img, etc? the basic tweaks i mean..
that would be more than amazing!
what is ubuntu used for when writing roms? would like to know the above as well
ubuntu is used to compile android from source.. ubuntu/mac.. windows i believe also can be used, but more painfully.. so ubuntu FTW! and the android kitchen runs smooth on linux, just tried yesterday and figured out the root/busybox stuff.. just the kernel thing is a little blur yet..
