well, if your phone has wm2002 or 2003/se smartphone on it. Yes. All you need is the program 1-HomeEdit. (http://www.omegaone.com/homeedit/default.htm) Just saw, this also works with newer phones.

It's possible. I have white bars on my Samsung i640 and Treo 500v (both WM6)
I can later upload vodafone theme xml. I can't manage how to make colorscheme from this xml. I'm sure someone will work it out. It shouldn't be hard.
White scheme should look awesome whith Samsung Tab homescreen.

sound interesting
if you could post the home.xml i try to get the color scheme...

you need to edit registry.

As I said, here's the xml Strik3r, could you say something more?

ty arrravel, i get the scheme from your xml, but it doesn't work without several reg hackings: i get the selection red and other stuff is right but the bars are still black.
ty striker, i tried your white cab, but it changed only the bronzeres.dlll and some calling pictures, the bars are still black, but the panel now are really cool ty!
striker, could you (please) list the reg edits to get your white skin working on all devices? (actually i am running a both qvga display with custom 6.1 and not a qqvga, but it is not a problem i suppose)

It doesn't work for me either. I get grey bars with white font on the bottom bar, and grey font on upper. Maybe they should be black, but i640 and Treo 500 have something I call "Asus skin". Look at the pictures of Asus PDAs with WM6 and you'll see the bars are somehow skinned. They are brighter and have sharp line in the middle. I don't know how to describe it. My english is not that good. I whish i could get rid of this.
I thought the scheme would work. It works as a part of homescreen, so why not separetely? Can't get it :/

i think that the scheme works throught registryeditings (the ones mentioned by stiker)
the effect that you call asus effect is the normal wm6 glossy bars?

I don't know what registry hacks he mentioned. I see only screenshots.
Back to the Asus effect, yeah, they are glossy, but look different. For example look at this:
http://www.palmtops.com.pl/images/palmtops/Asus%20PDA%20Phone%20P320_LRG.jpg
and this:
http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/2601/02hz9.bmp
See the difference? This is the same color scheme.

arravel, the sample of white theme:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Home\SlidingPanel white.home.xml]
"COLOR_TITLEFLATDONEBTN"=dword:ffffffff
"COLOR_TITLEFLATCENTER"=dword:ffffffff
"COLOR_TRAYGRADLEFT"=dword:ffffffff
"COLOR_TRAYGRADRIGHT"=dword:00000000
"COLOR_TRAYTEXT"=dword:00000000
"COLOR_SCROLLBAR"=dword:fffbe14f
"COLOR_SOFTKEYBTNTEXT_HIGHLIGHT"=dword:00000000
"COLOR_SOFTKEYBTNTEXT"=dword:00000000
"COLOR_TITLEFLATCENTERBTNTEXT"=dword:00000000
"COLOR_SOFTKEYFLATCENTER"=dword:ffffffff
"COLOR_SOFTKEYFLATBORDER"=dword:00000000
"COLOR_HOMEHIGHLIGHTTEXT"=dword:00ffffff
"COLOR_HIGHLIGHTTEXT"=dword:00ffffff
"COLOR_SOFTKEYBTNFACE"=dword:00000000
"COLOR_ALERTRULE"=dword:00000000
"COLOR_HIGHLIGHT"=dword:00000000
"COLOR_HOMEHIGHLIGHT"=dword:00000000
"COLOR_HOMERULE"=dword:00000000
there white.home.xml - name of your theme

I've tried to use this settings, but my xml is not visible on the list. I'm not familiar with xml files. And this reg entry won't work. I have WM 6.0. There is no upgrade to 6.1 for my device. I want to make a color scheme I can use with every homescreen layout, especialy with Samsung Tab. Would you make it? I'm sure many users will be greatful.

arravel, there did you put theese values?? In xml???? You need to put it to registry!!!

background image - when making a call

Hi,
I am quite happy with s710, but a small thing annoys me a little.
When you change the Main Screen theme and a colors scheme - one thing stays unchanged - the background picture during making a call. It stays green (in my case) with HTC logo. When havin, say, red colors scheme the green background with two red stripes at the top and at the bottom looks ugly.
How this can be changed ?
thanks
Search the registry for RAI:
RAI: is it a file ? or a folder ? In Windows I cannot find it...
The logo/image displayed during a call in progress, Call History, etc... can be changed in your phone's registry. You need a registry editor to access the phone's registry. Just do a search on the internet for "Mobile Registry Editors". Most of them are free-ware.
If you want that logo to be the same for all screens, you can change the image itself instead of making the registry changes. Your phone needs to be application unlocked. In the Windows directory on your phone you'll find a file called: ms_mobile.gif
By replacing this image, and soft resetting your phone, you've changed most of the screen's logos/display images.
If you want a different logo for different screens, you can use the registry editor to manually set them. Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai
under the sub-tree you'll find all the screens (MSCdial, MSBranding, ...)
Almost every image can be changed here.
Good luck.
Background
Hi, I also am trying to change the background image when dialing, its the blue/green full screen background which does not really look good with my homescreen.
I have looked through windows directory, but cant find that image? any ideas. I see the smartphone gif, but that dose not bother me to much.
Thanks for any help!
This is the case on the e650
Most likely:
DialScreen_240x320.bmp
DialScreen_320x240.bmp
Incoming_bg.png
And yep, ms_mobile.gif is the banner image.
Better yet...

Hi and thanks for all you help, I have done the above, my phone was an unbranded s710, so did not need to do a lot, but its that fullscreen dialing background that I cant find?
DialScreen_240x320.bmp
DialScreen_320x240.bmp
They were not in the windows folder, I did put my own in there, but after a soft reset, still that image? (see below)

Oh THAT one!!!
Looks like the standard WindowsMobile.jpg. That one can be found in the Windows folder. WindowsMobileLS.jpg for landscape.
Would be wiser to change it in the registry. Make your own screen, copy it to the windows folder and change these registry entries:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin\Progress\Portrait\Other\bmpNormal
change the value from \Windows\WindowsMobile.jpg to \Windows\SomeNameForYourCallInProgressScreen.jpg
And for the landscape version:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin\Progress\Landscape\Other\bmpNormal
Just checked this on my phone and it works. Let me know if it works for you.
FANTASTIC
Thank you very much for you help, worked with no problems! much better now!!
You're welcome
Glad to hear it worked.
Here are the black ones. Should work with any theme color

Flat Black Bars In WinMo6.1

I really like the way flat black bars look for the start menu and and soft button bar. Every theme i install reguardless of what it looks like on the site i download it from has like a graduaient 3d thing going on. Im assuming thats windows mobile 6 over riding the temes settings. Anyways i got a theme called ALL Black out of death rom and it has flat black bars in it.
So i opend up a theme i liked with winCE cab manager and the allblack theme i copied all of the registry settings from ALLBlack to the new theme. I then save it as a .tsk and put the new theme on my kaiser. When i switched to the new theme it had gray glossy gradient bars!!!?? How do you get rid of the gradient glossy effect??!! I really perfer the old flat color scheme most of the time.
the registry swap doesnt necessarily work. i know you can set bars to flat with one of the theme generating programs. and probably a reg key
Ya I was looking into theme maker x, i would just be really annoyed if i didnt allow you to change to flat bars. I was also using wisbar to do this before but it just seems to slow the ppc down.
If anyone knows the reg setting to get flat bars i would love to know what it is.
oh this is really annoying i downloaded theme make x trial and set to a win standard theme then set the bars to black and flat windows mobile kept the same glossy bars. Im using dutty diamond rom maybe this is the issue?

Make a theme in some theam generator and there should be a option to save it as wm5,wm6, and u need to save it as wm2003(at least I think).
Or I think UITweaker.cab has an option to make the bars not glossy, but I am not sure. Give it a try.
solution, maybe
i had that problem too. try this theme, maybe it'll work. it worked for me.
Helo there, I saw this post and made a solution for it, the cab you can find in my cab corner here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2436400&postcount=124

Flat Black
Awesome, just installed this and looks great! Nice work.
Great cab
The cab made both my bars 3d (originally the top is flat and the bottom is 3d). Does anyone have a theme that just has flat bars?

hey works only on cooked roms?
i have the original branded wm 6.0 on my hermes

Making bottom & top bar different colors?

For some reason I like the default wm6.1 color scheme with the flat green bar at the top but I think it would be really cool if there was a way to have the bottom bar flat black while retaining the green at the top!
Is it possible to have a green bar at the top and a black (non-glossy) at the bottom?

You will need to edit the tsk file for your today skin...
it's most probably a *.tsk file sitting in your windows dir.
you can edit it or create a new one using ThemeGenCE
Download this and install it on your ppc...its the black htc theme which i used to use on my Mogul...
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-htc-diamond-theme.html
he wants a green upper bar.
lol yeah well he has to start somewhere right? I figured it would be easier to find the flat black and try to get the top bar green from there
hehe.
why not.
just find the ClassicBlack tsk file (running around the forum) and edit it
Yeah much easier then my solution. Go with that.
lol guys, would be better with UI Tweeker, takes bloody ages to understand which bit your altering, but it works. Cab below (greets to its creator!)
You can alter wot eva wot want to with this, but only make one change at a time, i got carried away turning erverything black once, soft reset and couldnt see a thing haha, had to hard-reset
Upper bar flat solid green, lower bar glossy green - WM 6.1 Green default
I run Windows Mobile 6 on my Kaiser but am totally crazy about the classic WM 6.1 green theme I saw in the first post! How can I get it for WM 6? The only difference between my classic green and this one is the upper bar that's flat green, no glossy effect... I've tried downloading it from a few websites, but on device the upper bar is not solid green, it still has this glossy effect regardless of what it looks like on the website. Please help me, I'm dying to get this on my phone!

White manila 2.1 theme

Hello everybody,
I did search but no luck. Maybe it has not been done yet.
What I would like is to have a mania 2.1 theme that looks exactly as the sub-menus look. White.
This would be good for several reasons:
1. You would actually see your screen in direct sunlight. I suppose you know what I mean...
2. It would give the phone an elegant clean look.
3. It would give the good old manila a new look but at the same time it would not be exaggerated or too colorful.
I would be glad to help any developer who is interested, but unfortunately I don't have the coding knowledge...I know design though and would be glad to provide any kind of image manipulation services if it's needed.
If this already exists please help me with a link
Also, what we might need if a white upper and lower taskbar theme to make this complete.
The HTC Fuze (for AT&T) stock ROM includes a white theme. It shouldn't be too hard to modify the art a bit to remove the AT&T-ificiation, and make a nice white theme.

Personally, I have experienced that white text/icons on a black or black-ish background give me sufficient contrast for daylight use. Perhaps you should turn off your light-meter and set the backlight lumens to 100%.
Thank you for your reply. Yes. I was looking for something similar... The only difference would be to have it the default touchflo 3d sub-menu color scheme.
It would also help me if someone would guide me to a thread that is about changing the text color...that would be useful too. If I could change the text, the only thing that remains would be the slide-bar which is easily customizable.
Thanks
As I was looking further I found a thread and it seems like he has only just started the work.
Here's the thread:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=79323
And the image:
that reminds me of chocolate vanilla poptarts. and now i really want some poptarts!
edit: by the way that doesnt look like manila 2.1 (i typed vanilla at first, hehe, damn delicious poptarts!) like he wanted. but it looks like a white background and a white slider canvas and a black flip clock. how hard could it be to get those up and working?
Yes.
All we would need would be:
1. Black text - which I couldn't find
2. A Custom Slider - which is not as important
3. A black clock which can also be found somewhere - not too important either.
And it seemed easy to me too, but unfortunately no one has made this before. If it is that easy please point me to a thread where I can get the black text from (for manila 2.1) and I'll be happy because the slidebar isn't that bad this way either.
ask in the manila 2.1 port thread. im sure someone will get you some black text.
hey look what i found. retro eh?
Yeah, retro indeed. I asked in the manila 2.1 port thread but they seem to be too busy with answering other questions and didn't take the time to even respond.
I can understand them because they have enough on their mind...poor guys work a lot for free so you can't be mad at them for not answering.
I just hope that one day someone will take the time to change the manila text to black.

Please get rid of the default OS grey MS?

Am I the only one who can't stand the default grey that is used throughout the OS. WHen I was running Nodo I edited the registry to change this to black and the UI looked much better and slick. The keyboard looked nicer, OS notifications looked better...Everything just looked better. Any reason why we think Microsoft uses the grey?
i think to differentiated between the black/white background and the bottom button witch mostly can be pulled up for more settings or options (like in IE9)

I never found a problem seeing menus when I did changed the registry key. Can't remember which one I changed but it really brought the whole UI together. I find the grey really gives the OS a blah feel sometimes.
So let me get this right. Instead of just finding the registry hack, you rather MS make it default & everyone using WP7 have have it too because it's in your opinion, better & if they prefer the way it is now, too bad...
Just search the forum & hack it again. I know it is around here somewhere because I did these edits before...

Well he does have a valid point. We already control the accent color, and background color. I guess they could give us control of the third color. That having been said, the problem with moving from grey is that then the font which takes on the accent color may clash/be hard to read on the new background color.
The more realistic option is to offer themes that offers you 3 color combos that work together.
That wouldn't necessarily be a problem. The text color that is used on the "gray" background (or whatever color someone would choose) could be automatically determined by the system to ensure that it would always be readable.
Didn't mean to offend the poster up the page but really it seems like an obvious aesthetic improvement. MS already took the time to implement this feature in the email app. I use the dark theme and when I go to email and open up the keyboard it has a white background with black letters(no grey). When I hacked the registry before it worked with no problems and it only took one change in the registry. Suggesting I hack my phone is a possibility but not for 99% of WP7 users out there. It only takes one change to registry and does not mess up the visibility of any text throughout the OS. All the hack does is change the grey background you see now. Take note of when you see this and you will notice that the text is always white. It actually makes it easier to see text throughout the OS.

isn't. the point of wp7 fewer choices, fewer distractions ? hacking was considered messy and 'droid silly not long ago ? now making the os look how you want is cool again ? yay !
yes, the black is better.
