Hi guys,
Don't know if this is the right place for this question, but is anyone familiar with CoPilot 7 software? I am considering buying, but just wanted to see if anyone else has used it.
Thanks,
Chris
Hi
I think my wife has it on her Touch. It is pretty easy to use, but sometimes doesn't find the shortest route. Gets you there in the end and if you take a wrong turn it sorts it out for you pretty quickly.
Whichway

I was looking at this at http://www.pressdigital.com.au/navigation-vehicle-tracking-mapping/copilot-windows-mobile-australia-p-5390.html. Is this a good price, and would you recommend it?
are u looking for USA or Australia version?
A friend of mine has it on his O2 Orbit and he went to it from Tom Tom as it came free with the PDA once he got used to it he likes it and loves the way it updates the speed camera's as it starts up (UK version)
Netnerd - I am looking for the Australia version.
Owl - Thanks. Definitely sounds like it's worth a try.
Chris
Thanks for all your help. I just ordered it, and I will post back here in a few days to let you know how it goes.
Thanks,
Chris
Received my order already! Easy to follow installation. Everything looks great. I will try it out, and post back in a few days.
Thanks everyone
I Am Not Amazed...It's the standard of PressDigital....
Hi cajohnson,
I am not amazed that Press Digital Send it you this Quickly. I bought My CoPilot 7 from them few weeks back and to be honest they know how to treat their customers.
By the way What i like most about Copilot 7 is it's Easy to Use Navigation
and it's Easy Destination Entry. 3D Maps just makes best out of perfects. So i also reccommend it if, anyone wish to buy it...Don't hesitate...!
Thanks,
Alenka
You're right. I love it, and Press Digital was great to deal with. I love how easy it is to re-route and get you back on track. Took a trip yesterday for work, and really got to try it out. I was really impressed.
Thanks,
Chris
Im absolutely satisfect with Ndrive.. you should try it
Personally, I think Google Maps is an acceptable navigation program especially factoring the fact that its free.

Hi all
I'm toying with the idea of getting a GPS based navigation system to use with my QTEK 2020i.
I think that the Navigator kits are quite pricey for someone who isn't sure they;lll get the use out of them though.
What's my cheapest option if I wanted to try this stuff out?
I don't mind buying a generic GPS receiver as I'm sure I can use it for something else (!?????) other than satnav.
Is it as simple as buying one of those £29 GPS reciever jobbys off ebay and then downloading a trial version of tomtom???
Cheers all
Wayne
there is no version for trialing tomtom. your best bet would be to to buy a kit from 1 of the online shops to be honest and i wouldn't recomend ebay as they are not legal copy's and hence don't work properly

eh?
So I can't download like a 30-day trial!...How do they expect people to know if the product is anygood?
I know it probably is but that for me isn't the point...I want to see if I'll actually use it and how I'll use it, that's how I'll know if it's worth me buying it.
Cheers

Well, I bought a Qstarz BT-Q880 32-channel GPS receiver, which works excellently with the XDA 2i and TomTom 5.
However, I did download TomTom 5 via BitTorrent... Purely for evaluation purposes. Of course.
If you have €369 to lend me (with long-term repayments at a low interest rate) so I can buy the damn thing straight away, then hell I'll buy it straight away. I do think they charge an arm and a leg - and the Plus maps (the more detailed versions of the maps) cost a good €150 extra - at least.
The long and short of it is that you'll have to break the law in some way or another if you want to evaluate GPS software before you make your own purchase of the software - which I do intend to do when I have the cash (Uni students don't really have that much spare to be honest, but I do buy the software for my XDA whenever I can).
just to say though, no matter how you aquire the software, a basic GPS receiver is still gonna cost you around £45 - £50 via Ebay.
And I'm not sure what other use you would have for it other than SatNav, except maybe wifi hotspot logging.
Geocacheing!

still, that's a lot cheaper than paying £££ on TomTom!
If I did it this way and then used a less-than-legit version to trial it, I could then upgrade to a proper version later and then sell the GPS receiver.
If I buy TomTom now and don't use/like it then I stand to loose a lot more money (especially seeing as the general impression people seem to have is that TomTom on ebay is fake or no good).
...you see my predicament
Cheers
Wayne
If you did fancy Geocaching or even just the chance of an Ordanace survey map. I recommend 'aquiring' a copy Memory Map too. I have both on my xda iis, Tomtom drives you to the local area, and memory map will plot everything after that.
Now that sounds like a plan...

dispite all it's bad press on most websites tomtom on the whole is a very good product ,i persoanlly havn't had any reall issues with tomtom apart from the problem being the sd card being to slow with the 2i , i've signed up for the traffic updates which i find to be about 90% correct
i also think most of the problems arise because people are using illegal versions

Not sure I agree with the problems all being down to illegal copies (more so on the 2i).
This is my main concern. If I shell out for an app that crashes etc with little to no support/help from TomTom.
As it is I will probably try a dodgy copy and if it's stable I'll get a proper version. I know that a bad copy may be the cause of the crashes but with TomTom not supplying a trial copy how do they expect people to make an informed decision? You wouldn't buy a car without test driving it would you?!
Nearly all software (including that on the Pocket PC platform) provide trial versions. I've even seen some posts on here to suggest that TomTom used to do this...but not now for some reason?
Lost business I say.
Cheers
Wayne
dotn got to halford and have play with a tomtom go or one the app is the same as is the maps as anis the andy says there have been problems with the 2i this is mainly down to a hardware issue the way round it most users have found is to get a the fastest sd card you can find currently mappopolis is the olny vendor to have a 30 day trial
Aye, I must say for the record that TomTom on my 2i MOSTLY works fine, it only crashes out if you do something like try to use the Ring Number feature - it'll show the screen, but as soon as you select the Point Of Interest category you want, it has a think about it then crashes back to the desktop.
The same if you load up too many Points of Interest on a map, I've also found. I guess that's most likely down to the fairly old SD card I have, an old PNY 256Mb card - but it does the job very nicely, and just has enough space on it (6.66Mb! remaining) to store the TT files, the Netherlands map and the Great Britain Plus map. If you want to load more maps though, you'll definitely need the 1Gb card, the France plus map is something like 370mb - and the main Western Europe map is even bigger.

I can't say I've ever tried it, but Geocaching is a bit of a GPS treasure hunt. People leave these caches hidden in "interesting" places and provide the GPS coordinates to a website, then other people can use their GPS devices to locate the cache and leave a message in the notebook, take photos with the camera or maybe even recieve a little prize. It's for those odd people who go outside, when they could be huddled up in the warm over their PC's
If that vaguely interests you you could look at

www.mapopolis.com
Mapopolis looks promising from the site, their bundles are quite handy if you don't want all the extra steps of buying the phone holder, buying the carkit... All of which I did, hasssssssle - I do think I would miss the nifty 3D view which TomTom displays whilst you're navigating your way through the world, but I guess that's only because I'm feeling spoilt now.
When it comes to caching, geocaching.com used to be one of the definitive sources of info on the net, but it's suffering server problems at the moment.
Other good sites:
http://www.gpss.tripoduk.com/caching/
http://www.gagb.org.uk/guidelines/guidelines.php - deserves a second mention, as it's a very useful site...
And of course, http://www.geocaching.org.uk/ ! Get caching kiddos.

have you upgraded your tomtom as mine did exactly the same till the new upgrade i havn't had to soft reset since then
I don't have to soft reset, the program just crashes back to the Today screen. I don't really need to use the Ring Number feature anyway, kinda pointless as I can just 118 500.
The issue is moot anyway, since I'm using a less-than-100%-legitimate copy... I'm sure once I have a job post-University I'll be able to afford to buy it, but until then I'm not keeping my hopes up.
Well i was wondering if anyone can help me out. I drive an 18 wheeler so, i need a gps for TRUCKS. Is there an app already, and if not i will pay if someone can get this appl. for me need it soon for work
Well, I don't drive trucks and so I can't judge about the quality - I'm using Navigon MN7 and it has got a Truck-mode also and also a driver's log. Maybe you wanna try the Trial-version for 30 days for free. I can only guess where you are driving - Navigon is brilliant especially for Europe, but it is available with US-maps as well - don't know about the quality tho.
So navigation MN7?? Ok i'll try it out. Do u know any1 on here who can build one? i'll pay or Donate w/e but can help out in that way. thanks
No, I don't know anybody - I think it would be a freaking lot of work. I don't know the special needs of truckers. MN7 is definitely worth a try. I don't know about truckers-compatibility of Garmin, TomTom or iGo.
Actually Garmin is the best for truckers navigation..
Hi guys, just a heads up. Copilot gps navigation is free. You can download any country map for free BUT, there's always a BUT, full voice guided navigation costs you £19.99 in the UK. But hey, its for free. Might be of use to somebody.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alk.copilot.mapviewer&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5hbGsuY29waWxvdC5tYXB2aWV3ZXIiXQ..
HELL YESSS!!!!!!!
I bought the UK one on my iPhone for £19.99, and was pissed that when I switched to android im told I have to buy it again! , can happily live without voice as I use it on my motorcycle where I cant hear anything over the exhaust noise anyway!
Edit: still annoying its only 2D
i have just downloaded this but i get 3d view and turn by turn voice i havent paid is it a trial or something like that?

I don't think so mate. Its from the Play Store so it should be completely legitimate. I think you must've just encountered a bug or something that got you features that were supposed to be blocked.
Oh well, having read the reviews it sounds quite buggy in general. Waiting for the new Sygic...
Corrupt text inputs
Is it just my copy of it? On the Prime the text input does not work correctly and keeps adding or removing random letters. Cannot enter an email address easily and now have no idea what password was set.
Works well on the Xoom but not the prime.
Configuration issue
does someone know if there is a way to configure this app so the menu'es aren't so tiny?
i purchased copilot uk years ago on my G1 phone and for some reason its completely disappeared from my google account. so ive just gone ahead and grabbed a cracked copy.
its a good app but theres no way in hell im paying again

pfft, thats not right at all. cheeky bastards!
Yes, I would recommend finding a different navigator... I have the full version and it has a lot of bugs and their support basically sucks... Their solution to every bug report is that there is something wrong on my side and they want me to delete everything on my phone to fix their bugs....

Your dead right, i bought co pilot once, they totally screwed up my upgrade and then blamed me, the treated me like an idiot and took no responsability for they're software , wouldnt give me a refund, wouldn't let me migrate etc etc etc,
i urge you, all do not buy from this company
they are only money grabbers selling a bug ridden program, its almost as if they don't realise there are better alternatives out there,
i for one will never buy from them again, anyone else had similar experience with co pilot/dough pilot?

I bought this app for my Wm6.5 and had utterly terrible support, bad enough that I relish the opportunity to let everyone else know. They had this botched system where when you upgraded ROM you had to uninstall and deregister to be able to re-install. Needless to say the system failed and I had to jump through a million hoops to get them to give me a new activation code as if I was some kind of a criminal. Best avoided for sure.
sorry to dig up an old thread but I downloaded the free version of Copilot for my Galaxy Note running 4.1.2 Jellybean and the application doesnt open. It hangs on the splash screen and closes.
Anyone else experience this problem? Any fixes?

I tried that and it didnt work. I also tried a fresh install on my friends Galaxy S2 and he gets the same exact problem!
Unless there is an application or setting on the device causing it to crash? Ideally I don't want to hard reset my device.

Hi Everyone,
My Sensation (her name was Candace) died last night. I was unlocking the screen and it suddenly froze then turned off. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get it to turn back on. I tried changing the battey, charging, etc. I took it to the T-mobile store and they took a look at it and said it was dead. Then they told me there was good news/bad news. The good news was my insurance plan meant I could get a replacement for $5. The bad news was there weren't any showing in stock and it was backordered and there were no alternates listed, so they didn't know when I would get a replacement phone. The salesman said that they were supposed to tell me that I would have to wait, but he said that he remembered how much I rely on it and that he would talk to the store manager. The store manager told me that an upgrade to a Samsung GS III would be $100! So I'm now the owner of a GS III. I miss Candace, but I like my new phone.
Since everyone on this forum has been so great, I'm offering a few semi-free items to anyone living in the continental US. Send me $5 to cover shipping and you can take your pick of the following two items:
1) Used Anker 1900 mAh battery.
2) Used Blue Case Mate Gelli Case for the HTC Sensation.
3) Used Case Mate Tough Case for HTC Sensation
If you want one, send me an e-mail at [email protected]. I can't use these anymore, so I figure I'll send them to someone who can.
Thanks everyone, it's been fun and I appreciate all of the good advice I've received.
Cheers,

That happened to me once but all I had to do was remove the SIM card and SD card and it fired right back up.
I tried that, but no luck. Frankly, I would have been satisfied with another Sensation. I really liked that phone! I can't really afford the $100 they charged me for the upgrade, but I'm going to sell one of my .357 revolvers and use the money to pay for the upgrade and get a bow, so it will work out.

I can't understand why people are jumping ship, the Thunderbolt is a GREAT phone and, with the right ROM is all anyone would ever need!
I'm sticking with it for two reasons:
1. because it's so perfect that nobody could ever wish for a better phone and
2. because UPS didn't deliver my Galaxy SIII today. It should be here tomorrow.

Thank you,
Even though I jumped ship to a DNA, my use of the Thunderbolt is not over. It now serves as my music player and as a GPS unit. It is now more convenient since having 1 phone and using it for GPS, it would be a pain when you get a phone call and then you end up lost or whatever. Now I can answer my calls and speak my texts as I'm driving with my DNA while still being able to navigate. So for me, my Thunderbolt is still very much active.

I have a friend here who also was a TB user, he went with the S3 also, and really loves it. So I think its a learning curve, new setup that you will get used to. I am still trying to figure out just how I want my start screen set up, keep changing it. Eventually I will stop. Or die, whichever comes first!

Yea, like I said, my biggest issue is actually the camera button, I give it a love tap everytime I grab the phone. Thankfully its not an instant on, otherwise that would be a problem.
Its good to see though, that even with this minor (I believe its a minor) issue, its still a great phone. There is no way you can make the location of the buttons perfect for everyone since were all built with different fingers and hands.
And I didn't keep the TB, sold it back to Verizon for 33 bucks, and with the 8X on sale for 99, its nice to only pay 66 bucks for an over 500 dollor phone!
AND I think I FINALLY have the start screen where I want it. Now just have to figure out how to reduce the size of all my songs. With all the songs on, I maxed out the memory. Surprising, its still wicked fast with only 30mb free! WoopWoop!

There is an option to save your maps for offline use.

Copilot is an app I use, but there are many others. You can pay anywhere from 10$-50$ depending on quality. I find copilot is a good mix of price, performance, quality. It's only been wrong twice in the few years I've used it.
I also use locus maps pro for my backwoods hiking and tracking.
