Hi everyone,
I am trying to develop an application [media something, it'd be very cool when it is done] that is using WMP COM object to extract data from the library using .NET CF.
I added a reference the wmp.dll and syncd the application, and it worked fine(!). However, when I tried to change the application and resync I noticed that my application exe file is still locked by something. The main process is no longer running (I closed it from the task manager) but something is STILL locking the file.
How can I find out what is locking it? Soft reset solves the issue but it is not a real solution.
Thanks a lot!

Hi...I bought a HTC S710 recently...it is my first windows mobile 6.0 based phone...i have been a symbian/nokia fan since long.
Few problems i am facing:
1) sending a sms to multiple recipients. The only i can see is adding people one by one...or using a semi-colon. Is there a way to make groups or something? I saw a post here about SmartSMS...but does it work with WM6? If yes, can anybody point me to the latest version...there seems to be a lot of different softwares floating around the net with the same.
2) I can't seem to create new folders for sms...I tried fiddling around with the 'manage folders' option...but to no avail. Is there any workaround? or a simple step that i have overlooked?
3) Before recieving a bluetooth message, it doesn't prompt it...it just sends the data without asking. I managed to be secure enough by using a passkey but is there a way i can just add a prompt before recieving data via bluetooth?
4) TCPMP doesn't seem to support xvid files. Is there any other software available that can play xvid files?
5) Is there any software that lists all active processes? the in-built task manager only shows things that i have started...but i know there are other things running (the OS files...and VITO copy paste for eg)
6) any good messenger apps which let me connect to gtalk/msn/yahoo all through the same application?
7) do i need to install adobe flash player lite in order to play .swf files over the net?
thanks
Hi,
Can anyone tell me how I can make WMP the standard player on the Cube instead of Audio Manager?
Actually I would rather use Audio Manager but it doesn't work.
Until yesterday, i was running the original 6.0 on my Touch Dual. I could never get audio manager to work - it only found one song - and it couldn't be played because of a broken path/link or whatever. Yesterday I upgraded with the original 6.1 from HTC - and figured that audio manager would then work.
But it's almost the same problem. Audio Manager now finds 2 stadard win 6.1 songs - but none of my own songs. There's just a search icon running in the top right corner. I have tried to let it search for over an hour, but it finds nothing. I thougt that a fresh install with 6.1 would work - but no such luck.
Any thoughts on how to resolve this?
OK... - figured it out. Just changed the value in HKLM/Software/HTC/Biotouch/MediaHubMini to wmplayer.exe instead of AudioManager.exe ... - but I still would like to know, why my audio manager doesn't find anything when searching for songs.
But now I have the problem with Cube / Photos. It points to /Windows/HTCAlbum.exe - I would like to point it at StorageCard/My Pictures - but that doesn't work. Does it have to be an exe-file in order to make it work or what?
If it is the case that it can only point to an exe, which is the case for a lot of registry strings, then check out VJBrisk. It will give you an executable to point the reg string at, and then will just activate the link, which you can copy from the start menu.
Search for vijay555 on google to find his site and the app.
Hey jez
I haven't tested yet - but that looks EXACTLY like the app that can make it work.
Thanx! )
I downloaded Touch Settings. So now I can change the folder without going to registry, but I still need an exe - so VJbrisk should do the trick.
----------------------------------------
Oh well. It was worth a shot, but unfortunately it doesn't work.
I can create an exe-file, and I can also get it to open my pictures folder via Total Commander, but when I try to open via the cube - I get an error that says something like: The files certificate is not trusted or a component is missing?
When starting my WinMo6.1 device my start screen welcomes begins wiith a Notification Error which is......
Cannot Execute \windows\myphoneruntime.exe
I have actually removed Microsoft myphone beta as i believe it was resulting in conflicts with TF3D not loading, but my phone obviously believe's its still their.......
What I need to know is how or where should I look in the registry editor to remove the line entry which is causing my device to think it needs to run a program which has been un-installed?
Thanks in advance........
First thing to check is if there is a shortcut in the \windows\startup folder, and delete it if there is.
Failing that use a registry editor with a search feature, (I use resco), and search for and delete any references to it.
Thanks for the advice. I have downloaded and installed the Resco stuff (very cool software compared to what i was using) but I still couldnt find anything. I haven't exhausted all search options yet, but I didnt think it would take much finding to be honest. Will let you know if i get this fixed
when i press the x at the top, programs don't close anymore... it's still in the task manager. i changed the settings to close without holding but it still rmains in the task manager after closing it. how do i fix this?
edit:
also i have throttlelauncher installed and as my today screen. and recently hard resetted-this didn't happen before the reset.
also another problem i'm having is trying to make xml files open through a notepad program so i can edit'em by clicking/tapping on it. tried to assign it to shamasis's notepad program using advanced config but when i click the xml file it has an error:
"The file 'vars' cannot be opened. Either its not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found...."
is there another way to associate xml files with a different program?
This problem is usually caused by today's theme, remove the throttlelauncher, that can help you.
oh... well i'll just have to deal with it. soo can anyone tell me how to associate a program to xml files? tried advanced config.
i took off throttlelauncher from the today item but it's still not fixed......
Hello,
I experimented with the WP7 Root Tools and tried to add an own theme by creating a folder called "2" inside the Themes folder in the registry. After I did that I could not open any app anymore. I can't open the Root Tools app or any other marketplace-app. I tried to fix the problem with the MFG menu of my LG e900 but I can't start that either.
Do you have any way to fix my problem? I don't want to reset my phone and loose all my text messages and my dictionary!
If you don't have a recent backup (which you seriously should; why would you go poke the registry without knowing one???) then yeah, hard-reset it pretty much the only option. You could try opening the Theme control panel in Settings and see if it clears things up for you, or you could try writing an app that uses the LG provxml driver to delete the offending registry key *BEFORE THE APP LOADS ITS UI* so that it *might* get run before crashing, but those are my only guesses as to waht might save you.
If you're going to semi-blindly poke the registry, *ALWAYS* have a backup at hand.

Do you think this is possible? So I might give it a try.
Do you know where I have to read to learn this?
Do you have any WP7 dev experience? The basic concept is pretty straightforward, but it helps if I don't have to explain the basics of app development. I've attached a ZIP archive that contains the source code for a very basic app that uses LG provxml.
Your app will need the following things:
NewSysInfoComDLL.dll (native library that talks to the LG provxml driver).
WPInteropManifest.xml (file that allows your app to talk to native code).
ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES in WMAppManifest.xml (to access drivers).
Reference to the InteropServices .NET framework DLL (for the ComBridge API).
In the constructor for the main page, or possibly even in the app initialization code that goes in App.xaml.cs - whichever place gets executed first - you'll need to do the following:
Initialize the COM bridge to the native library (the *Interop*.cs files will help here).
Call the LG provision XML API with a provxml string that deletes the registry ney you created (you can find the provxml reference for Windows Compact 7 on MSDN).
If you're very lucky, this will fix your registry before the app tries to read the registry, goes looking for the additional theme data, doesn't find it, and crashes.

Thank you so far!
I am a very basic programmer, so I don't know very much about it, but I have created a few apps already.
The example looks really interesting, but I think it only shows how to read a registry key. How can I write one instead?
ProvXML reference (I did tell you how to find this yourself...) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg155017.aspx
You want the registry provider, obviously, and you want to delete a key, so that will be a nocharacteristic element.

i had the same issue, but i tried it a few months ago manually, to manage the second folder. but i messed the same thing up, its not the fault of wp7 root tools, its just to the registry. my out was an hard reset. which resets the registry too.

And that's what I did now.
