Poor screen drawing performance in basic menus - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hy again,
I managed to get myself onto my laptop these days to clear some of my issues with raphael.
Again, I come from eten world, M700 specifically.
In that device, with stock rom, if you drag the vertical scroll bar in programs, the screen and icons gets redrawed much quicker than on my raphael.
On raphael, if I drag down the vertical scroll bar, it even gets lost sometimes!! (and I am using the increased sensitivity touchpad regfix found in this forum). No mention about the speed the icons get redrawed! this is like ..dunnow..murdering some of it's possibilities and killing our pleasure of using the phone when not in touchflo3D. It's verry sluggish.
Also, there are sometimes when I press with stylus in the corners and the hit is not recognized
Can anyone suggest anything to make it faster in this way?

Today Screen Scrollbar ...

Hello!
I am wondering if it is possible to remove the scrollbar that shows up on the today screen? I have seen somewhere on the threads that you can remove the scrollbar from a today plugin. But is there any way using the registry?
- TKN
The only way to do that is to not put more on it than it can show all at once. You can however make the scrollbars thinner by editing the registry.
HKLM\System\GWE-cxVScr for verticle scrollbars and changing the value to a number less than 13
HKLM\System\GWE-cxHScr for horizontal scrollbars
ehhh...
......
Well I do not have more than the screen but it still shows the scrollbar and moves just a little bit up and down. And because of that, it is covering one of my tabs from SPB Pocket Plus.

if u have good eyes, you can reduce the text size, go to start > settings > system > screen and the text tab....
You could take off an unnecessary plugins from Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Today -> Items
But i'm guessing you need all the stuff on the today screen...
I have the same problem occasionally with cLaunch. If you have even one pixel more than what can be shown on the screen it'll put up that damn scrollbar. I also ran in to that problem before when I didn't have too much on the screen but for some reason it would be there anyway until I rotated the screen by opening the keyboard and then when I closed it again it would magically dissappear. I never did figure out why that was happening, but it hasn't happened since I started flashing new ROMS.
Just came up with 3 possibilities to fix your problem.
1. Check and see if pocket plus has a heighth adjustment. If it does, adjust it to be a few pixels shorter and see if the scrollbar dissappears.
2. If you don't use the icons in the system tray for anything, use explorer or explore in activesync and go to windows\startup and remove the Init_Tray.lnk and then soft reset. The system tray will be gone and you'll have that much extra room on your today screen and the scrollbar should dissappear after that.
3. Install this cab that I'm uploading. It's called vjtoggletoday-removing bottom bar. It removes the bottom bar that has the calendar and contacts links on them. You will still be able to use the soft keys just above the call and end keys to bring them up when ever you want, but you'll gain the extra space on your today screen where the bottom bar used to be.
another option would be to use the nice today plugin SPB Mobile Shell. It makes it possible to safe a lot of space on your today screen. It works very well with any other today plugin (eg Pocket Plus, Phone Alarm, SPB Wheather, etc). Still one of my favorite pocket pc programs!
I am using all of the SPB today plugins. I fixed the problem by having two lines instead of three in BatteryStatus. Appreciate everyones help.

yeah but i still rather have someone do a hack that will remove the scrollbar on the today screen. somtimes we want to have stuff there on the right height just without the scrollbars ...
can someone come up with a hack for this ? removing the scrollbar for today screen.

Open hardware keyboard WITHOUT rotating screen

I'm looking for a solution for a hermes, but assume it would be the same for wizard, kaiser, etc.
I'm often browsing the internet on my phone, and want to type just a few words without losing any screen estate to an onscreen keyboard, and without causing the screen to reprocess to landscape. I especially want to do this as I often have ms reader in the background, and it locks up the whole device while it repaginates the book.
Searching the obvious terms is just leading to people who want to rotate the screen without opening the keyboard - not want I want to do.
Any tips would be appreciated. I either want a way to lock the screen to portrait, or a way to make the device ignore the light sensor which tells it the keyboard is out (but if the keys could still light up, that would be a bonus.)
I`m using Opera, in portrait mode and I get keyboard to write -> the screen of my Kaiser flips in the opposite direction of my keyboard ._.
So yeah, this would be great.
if it works from a light sensor just cover it up with something maybe?
edit: it doesn't work lol, i also have this problem. my phone is too slow to handle this. i bet there's a registry setting for it. if i find anything out ill let you know
Okay, after further searching I found that someone had answered this question.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349760
I now have rotate mapped to a button, (using spb pocket plus, rather than the program in the thread), so I rotate the screen manually when I want.
Lokioki - this solution will probably suit you for your opera problem.

Keyboard and video out questions

Could someone who has one tell me how well the keyboard works. I have a G900 and when I open a new note in portrait then slide out the keyboard to landscape it takes a good 5 seconds before I can type. Is the Raphael quicker? Also how fast can you type? If I go too fast on my G900 even though I can feel the keys clicking only half the letters I hit appear on the screen.
The other feature I'm interested in is the video out. Anyone tried this yet? Or better still captured it so we can see how it looks?
Thanks
Not tried Video-Out yet, but the keyboard is good if unspectacular.
Personally I'm finding that I'd much rather have an "OK" button on the keyboard than a second "Shift" button. The lack of hardware "Softkey" buttons is a non-issue, especially as they were practically unusable on the Kaiser.
Speed of typing is the same as it ever was on the Hermes or Kaiser. Possibly quicker with the addition of dedicated number buttons, but I'm not quite up to speed yet (keep hitting "Right Shift" instead of "Enter"
Only other nitpick is that I liked having the keyboard slide out of the right hand side. That way, the cursor/enter keys and 5-way D-Pad are on opposite sides of the phone when it's in landscape - which makes one-handed navigation easier if you want to be able to use either hand...

Touch pro versus my old Jasjam (hermes)

Got my touch pro yesterday after dropping my Hermes and killing the GSM radio.
After using it for 24 hours I can make the following obsevations.
Of course it comes in a designer box (upside down pyramid)
included accessorys (of the top of my head)
-battery
-headphones with mic (no answer/hang up button)
-Wall charger with usb "A" host port on it
-Usb A to a micro lead for charger and activesync
A big hit for me is the new holder, sure it doesnt clip on my belt, but you can still use the device whilst its in the holder, you just need to slide it out a bit.
I miss the Jog wheel from the Hermes, and it takes a while to get used to TF3D scrolling.
When you first open the device, it appears to lack a D pad, its there however just a bit tricky to use (press around the outside of the circle)
Pros
New CPU seems to make a big difference
TF3D scrolling and nav is tricky to get used to but works well.
Text in menus etc is large to compensate for the fact you use your thumb and not a stylus 99% of the time
5 row keyboard is more logical and doesnt assign a million things to one key
usable shortcuts on the keyboard
landscape on the home screen has handy shortcuts
tf3d homescrren is very usable (just wished it marked texts as read faster)
smaller than the hermes
nhuge amounts of storage and program memory
flat screen makes life much easier when using thumb/finger on the screen, (no more hitting the clock instead of X)
A2DP actually works whilst on a data network (you needed to disable the radio on the hermes to get gapless playback whilst walking)
Cons
Lower battery life than the hermes (you didnt expect this?)
No jog/scrollwheel (TF3D does NOT work in menus)
S2U2 crashes in configuration mode (havent investigated)
G sensor is terrible in opera, rotates page back to portiat when in landscape CONSTANTLY (open keyboard to force landscape)
keyboard buttons are smaller takes some getting used to (the amount of times i have hit capslock instead of A)
no turn by turn nav software by default (tytn ii had copilot)
Other than that im loving it.
The turn by turn software is normally supplied by the provider, for example T-mobile tend to give away co-pilot,
having said that HTC have supplied some of their devices with tomtom as of recent.

Touch Screen Problem

I just bought the Fuze. The screen looks awesome. However I am having a problem where the touch screen is very unresponsive. I find myself having to tap the screen two or three times to get it to react. For example, I have to tap the Windows icon a few times before the menu opens. I also find that pressing harder on the screen with my finger or stylus makes it react a bit better as well. I shouldn't have to press that hard however. I never had an issue like that on my Kaiser.
Was wondering if anyone else has this problem. Could it be an unoptimized OS or video driver? Any way to adjust the sensitivity of the touch screen? Basically, I want to know if this might be an OS issue vs. a hardware issue.
I hate to return such a nice phone because of how unrepsonsive it is.
BTW, I am using ROMeOS v1.4.
Thanks for any inputs.
Its probably not defective in anyway. The fuze screen is a resistive screen, not a capacitive screen (the iPhone), so you do need to press a little harder. You can install the advanced config app and/or the TF3D customizer app to change the screen sensitivity. I have it on my fuze and it does make quite a difference.
FYI you need .NET compact framework 3.5 in order for advanced config to work

Thanks for the reply. What setting did you use?
I just use the TF3D config with performance setting #4, which is the screen sensitivity one, I believe. I find that to be the best setting. The other thing you might wanna try, even though it may seem obvious, is realign the screen. that could cause some problems.
Screen Not Responsive
my screen has become unresponsive over 75% of the time. same w/stylus or finger. already adjusted sensitvity through Advanced config tool, and Diamond tweak. try to re-align screen, and most of the time, screen does not even recognize the taps. This happened on previous one I exchanged. HELP ! !
Do you have a screen protector on your device?
I noticed that my Touch Pro was very unresponsive until I got rid of the stock screen protector and used it bare-screen
Try the second cab in this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469865
It drastically increases sensitivity for our pleasure--i felt that it does a better job than TF3D and Advanced Config. There may be an issue with your ROM--my old Tilt would lag on me dependent on the ROM even when the programs installed were identical. Currently using NATF's.
Screen Not Responsive - fixed
Wow ! !, I never would have thought it was the screen protector. I took it off, and it works great. thank you to TehPenguin. maybe it needs to be changed more often, or use a different brand.
That, was my second guess...but seriously, try the cab...
If you're using a snap=on case that can also cause the screen to stop responding. I was using a very cool looking red snap-on case I got from ebay. I got home from work today pulled out my phone to do something and it was completely unresponsive. I finally took off the case and it worked fine.
