I am planning to buy Touch Pro from either Germany or Netherlands because it is cheaper there and I would like to know from members from Germany and the Netherlands if the PPC comes with a standard english keyboard or a localised QWERTY keyboard. I am asking this because I would like to know if the keyboard is actually marked with "å","ö","ä", and other scandinavian letters.
I am thinking to buy now from http://www.2call.nl or anyshop from these list here
thanks
don't buy at 2call!!!
Sorry, I don't know about the keyboard layout of dutch or german Tuch PROs, but I know that you should avoid buying at 2call.nl.
I bought there. They delivered Touch PRO with faulty hardware and now refuse to take it back. They sent me to HTC to get it repaired (a 10 days old device, can you believe that!?).
HTC can't and tell me to contact the retailer again.
So now i am in an endless loop, wich 2call.nl should never have started.
Take my advise, buy somewhere else.
Regards,

Right now Expansys sells the WWE-Version (with QWERTY-keyboard) as well as the German version (with QWERTZ-keyboard) for nearly the same price here in Germany - llok at the Wiki for link. You can get the WWE-version on different shops in Germany, but it will become more difficult because now HTC and the providers started to deliver the German version - we had to wait a while until this happened ... So be careful and ask which version is to be delivered and shipped to you before ordering. In Germany, you may freely choose to send back the phone within 2 weeks if you do not like it (this is in fact EU-law, so it should work in NL as well - don't mention that is does not work or is defect, just send it back and claim your money back).
Cheers

Dutch version w QWERTY
I have a Dutch version, it came with a standard QWERTY keyboard.
Thanks for the information. I am just interested to know if the keyboard is actually marked with "å","ö","ä", and other scandinavian letters.
Because I would like to know what to do when typing the "special letters"
Hi I have the german HTC version and its a QWERTZ and the scandinavian letters are NOT marked.

Thank you for this information. I will have to stay away from the QWERTZ keyboards Anymore info from the Dutch and other QWERTY owners in Germany and Netherlands? I also would like to hear from the British owners too.
I might be travelling to Germany, UK and Netherlands soon so I would like to have this information before hand to know what to go for.
A friend told me that even if I get the standard QWERTY without the scandinavian letters marked, I can download an available cab file and I can have them displayed by using Fn + a to get ä, Fn + o to get ö and Fn + p to get å. Is this really possible?

You dont need a cab - just use Schaps AdvanceConfig Tool (http://www.touchxperience.com/) an switch the layout to what ever you want. This is not a problem. I had a German Hermes and switched to English. Just don't get confused by the marking on the keys...

thanks for your prompt reply.
Does it mean that with AdvanceConfig Tool, I can have the letters easily without complicated button combination? I am still wondering how to get the ä,å,ö to my text messaging with this application...
Yes - at least for the german version it was like this. I flashed a englisch image, switched with schaps brilliant tool (its just changing registry entries) the layout back to german so that it was fitting again to the markings on the key. So I think it should work also the other way around, switch a german keybord to an scandinavian layout.

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a Vox to replace my trouble & strifes crappy N73.
I've been using PPC's for a few years so know them quite well but I don't know how simular the smartphone version is to tweak & if it will run any of the common softwares for the ppc.
I need to have a Thai keyboard & font installed as well as the Standard which in this case will be English. I can do this easily on a PPC but what about a smartphone ?
Can we create custom shortcuts/icons and what PPC softwares will run on the smartphone if any ?
Finally how stable is this device & is the speed a pain due to that weazy Omap 850 ? Any alternative choices would also be great.
Thanks.
Vox is a great little device.
Stable, full of options and now a step before seeing its cooked roms (let's hope).
On the other hand... I don't know your wife and please don't take it badly but, does she really need one?
I mean, except for the fact to handle Thai and English at the same time and popular software... I guess many other Smartphones would do the job.
I say that because a MS Smartphone is always trying to be more "Smart" than "Phone", while a N73 or any other NSeries (for example) will always be more "Phone" than "Smart" even tough they could have the same capabilities.
I'm pretty happy with my Vox. It's pretty slow compared to my previous Excalibur with WM6 but still... It's a good phone. Maybe an update will fix the slowness, nothing explains why an Excalibur with same CPU is faster so a solution must be there.
Would I recommend it to somebody just looking for a Smartphone... Well... If this person is really looking for a phone with keyboard, then yes, otherwise... A N80 from Ebay is ways cheaper and would do the job. Loads of software, easy to handle... Etc...
Why do I say this? Well, guess who bought a Wizard to his wife and sees the only thing she enjoys is the keyboard to send mails and SMS... My fault, it's not a toy for her...
Ka.
VOX is easy to use ... i know it!
i have gave some VOX to some assistence in my work and they can handle it! better then the PPC versions. for women are usefull programs on the wild ... womenizer LOL

She can get by with a nokia or SE but this would seem to be a perfect balance between phone & PDA for her.
The main thing is second langauge input for these things.
She has been using my old HTC Prophet which I installed with Thai font & a SIP Thai keyboard. How do I install asian langauges to a smartphone ? anyone here done this ?
I have installed a cab I got from a Thread on Modaco which provides several T9 languages. Unfortunately Thai is not included. I bet it must exist, in case I find one I'll tell you right away.
Ka.
I spotted that t9 languages cab, I suppose in time people will add more languages.
Dopod do a dual Language for English/Chinese but nothing for Thai yet !
I'll keep looking.
Thanks for your help.
Mr B.
I found an article where somebody describes how to build your own Thai files.
It's for another phone (Still MS but other OS version) I'll see if something can be made out of it.

Hi,
Considering buying either a stock Kaiser or possibly UK T-Mobile Vario 3 but want to know if it's possible to get the software keyboard/keypad (standard on the Touch Dual) on the Kaiser/Vario 3.
Had a look at Dutty's TouchFlo ROM thread but can't see anything there, or is it available as a download from HTC?
The soft keyboard/pad is a must-have for me, for when the slider QWERTY keyboard is too fiddly to use.
Thanks (and sorry if I have not searched properly for this!),

Hello everybody !
I have a touch cruise from sweden with swedish language WM6 , I am tempted to uppdate the rom to make the phone fast or more responsive .
Is there a specific rom for swedish phones ? do I loose the swedish language with rom update ?
Is there a big difference between VM6 and WM6.1 ?
Thanks in advance / dilo
Good question! I'm also waiting for an official romupdate for minority languages like swedish to 6.1.
Hope it will come soon.
Ok , so there is nothing for the moment :-( .Why no update for the cruise like for the kaiser ?? as I understund it , its allmost the same phones -
Regards / Dilo
There is no another swedish rom out there beside the wm6.0, if you flash another rom you offcourse lost the swedish language. I have used the swedish rom too and when i made registry tweaks it become more responsive.
I have wonder the same about rom updates for cruise, Kaiser gets updates but not cruise. Its f.ing anoying to sign in to Htc e-club when they welcome you with txt "You can start enjoying the benefits of being an HTC e-Club member"
had cruse for 6month now and and no benefits yet, had Trinity for allmost two years no benefits. Hope they come with the 6.1 update soon
Agree with you. Have been onboard the Cruise for 6 month and very little attention from HTC to the minority rom like the swedish which I have too. We need to put some pressure on them. It should be quite a number of Cruises sold in Sweden by now and poor support.
Hi !
I got my cruise for around 3/4 month now and I had two hard reset allready , thats not good .
My freind has an iphone and never got any problems .
What to do ? I know one thing , this is my first and last Htc product .
Best regards / dilo

Hi All,
Just to know whether hand writing is possible for Chinese input in Leo? I am very poor on Pin Ying, so rely upon hand writing for Chinese input. Any third party s/w support capacitive screen as claimed to be not possible for hand writing function, thanks.
I m using hong Kong Chinese version , and it comes with handwriting input of ezinput
just flesh the WWE-Asian ROM in the ROM Section...
it seems to be a shipped ROM from SIngapore..
It came with all Chinese Input...

Can you dump your traditional chinese version ROM and share with us?
Thank you
Thanks so much for respond on subject. So confirm that hand writing is possible on this device just a matter of dif ROM .... Really happy to know that. Thanks, all.
My understanding is that the Surface tablet will be delivered with the colored keyboard which snaps on with magnetism.
Do you think this keyboard will be available with nordic char layout at the first release? Maybe MS will release it only in the US first and then later on to Europe?
When im running english ROMs in my android device (with virtual keyboard) it's possible to download one with nordic letters, but this is not possible for a hardware keyboard, obviously...
I think it's pretty much not worth it to have the english layout, and therefore i can't order it from the US if it will be announced over there first. I wonder how many months after the US release Europe have to wait if that's the case?
