Iphone beatmaker - General Topics

Hello does anybody know how to conver iphone applications into windows mobile
There's this application i like its called Beatmaker
http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2008/07/i...ampler_is_timbalands_favourite_app_too-2.html
i will love to have this app on my hermes 100 Thank you very much.
Also i found this program called "Pocket PC Installation Creator" i thought that i would be able to convert .ipa files to cab files in order to install it on my phone but no luck thank you, ANY HELP PLEASE THANK YOU AGAIN

you cant just ocnvert an app
you have to completely rewrite it
considering the iphone runs "os X" and we have windows mobile
theres one stumbling block
totally different hardware
we use c and c++, os x uses object c
etc etc
if it was simple, the pro's here would have ported the whole os a long time ago
look for a windows mobile alternative rather than porting an iphone app

MDA compact II Games

Hi guys,
(I have searched for this and similar topics so my apologies if I'm duplicating)
Bought my Compact about a month ago with T-mobile UK and am only just opening my eyes to its possibilities!
Thanks for all the information on web n walk etc.... i'll be signing up tomorrow!
I have just been on pocketgear.com and have seen all the games a pocket PC can use..... so I downloaded a trial version of a poker game (as is fashionable these days it seems!), but once transferred to my phone it wouldn't work.
Got the error message '[game] is not a valid pocket PC application'
So I tried Bookworm... and got the same message.
Am I doing something wrong, or is it because I downloaded it from an American Website to an English phone?
Any (and I do mean any) help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I haven't tweaked my phone in any way or improved it at all, so any further hints and tips would be appreciated too!
Cheers
J
When you DL software for your device, make sure that you DL software that is designed for your device. If you DL Pocket PC 2003 Software, and you are using a Windows Mobile 5.0 device, the software may NOT work on your device - also, if you are using a older device, you need to be aware that some software is designed for certain types of processors - so if you are using a PDA with an ARM processor, you have to DL software that will run on an ARM processor - not software that is designed for a MIPS processor. The newest devices all use the same processor (as far as I know) - but if you DL older software to run on the newer device, you will have to use software that was originally designed for anARM procesor. This may seem a little complicated, but the best way to find out how this works, is to go to a software distro site (like Handango), and download the different versions of the same software, and then install them. Hope that helps!

Well, I think it is just plain bad luck. I've downloaded and install.. quite a large amount of software/games to test on my MDACompact2 and most of the software that said to be meant for WinCE, WM2003, SE, etc works well with WM5. I can say, in my experience, the chances of getting one not working in WM5 is like. 20% or less. So, keep trying
Hi onemanfloats!
Did you download an exe file an copied it directly to the device?
If the download is an exe that means it is an installer and needs to be run on you PC while the device is synchronized. Most PPC programs are distributed this way.
Also programs for PPC some times come as cab files. Those you have to copy to your device and tap on them in the explorer so they will install.
As for processor type - don't worry, all devices sold today come with ARM, or ARM compatible (like OMAP) processors, and most of the new software supports only that type.
As for OS, I'm not sure if your device is running Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 2003, but as far as games and ordinary programs go, if it works on 2003 it usually works on 5 (2005).
The only problem is with some utilities which are very OS dependent.
Finally let me recommend you this site:
http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com
Tons of free stuff for you device.
Good luck.
ms should make pda's error msg
tell the user that it's a pc application they are trying to
run on the pda
tons of ppl get confused but this
The "not designed for" message on WM2003 only meant that the application perhaps didn't support screen rotation, and other resolutions than 240x320
It's a bit off topic, but the warning "This program may not display correctly..." pops up on every program whose installation cab supports OS lower the 4.21 (that's WM 2003se in plain English ).
According to MSDN that's because the OS assumes the program inside can't support VGA, screen rotation and square.
It's pretty stupid design since a lot of programs try to be backwards compatible, at least to WM 2003, and the message just scares users.
It's a good thing they got rid of it in WM5.
cheers guys,
just got back from a tiring weekend in snowdon and read your replies.
Will digest in the morning and see what I can do!
Thanks again for your help!

so many doubts regarding s710

Hello friends,
Am a newbie here. I bought dis phone (s710) few days back. I liked it very much. Now, as am new in using windows mobile platform, got small small doubts. I thought that all windows mobile can be called as pda's. But why this phone still comes under smartphone. And what is this VOX stands for. Is it S710, or a pseudo name. Sorry guys, am asking soo much, ryt..:x
And i was using a nokia java phone, and it has got cell info display (the network operator tower location, nearest place). Can i get it in on this... Now only the network operators name is there. And this 128MB ROM means the internal memory itslf ryt?
And, i saw about flashing the rom, many threads here. Is there anyway to back up the current one on my phone? Now its windows mobile 6 standard. I saw so many cool edits of wm here wid so many addon plugins etc. I would like to try it. but if something wrong happens in between...(thats y asked about back up of current rom, and restoring it...? is dis pakka rubbish que!! )
Sorry friends, got a lot of doubts regarding...No one, please don get irritated, ok...
Regards all..
Thank you for your kind patience.
1) Vox is in smartphone category because it doesn't have touch screen.
2) HTC give their phones names. Therefore Vox. And its model number is S710.
3) About cell info, backuping, flashing and other, you should search this forums and wiki. You will find plenty answers.
Thank you.... @ torrentonly

New to windows mobile Help please

I went from iphone to android to webos to comeback to android.
I use google voice. I use last.fm to scrobble. And pandora.
None of this are on windows mobile marketplace.
I just got the htc hd2 today while i love the hardware and everything. Comparing other mobile os's windows mobile sucks in terms of
app choices.
Can somebody please guide me in the right direction for replacements
or if the programs are available please tell me how to get them?
I also noticed my email inbox looks like it never left the 90's. Html emails are not being displayed and pictures are not loading automatically.
Trying to adapt need it for work so i must make the best out of it

Okay... look here for all the apps we use on our hd2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603880
On Windows Mobile.. you can look for apps outside of the "marketplace".. you download them as a .cab file (on pc or phone) and place them on the sd card if you want... which out the box is unique to windows mobile (doesn't eat up phone memory (but not that we lack it on the new hd2 lol))
Once the .cab file is on your phone/sd card... in the phone you go to file explorer (in the start menu)... click on it and navigate to where you placed the .cab file and run it. You can save the installation to the "device" because there is plenty of memory and tends to run better.
To awnser your questions;
[1] Google voice idk, but im sure google will have a wm app out soon (if not already, im not 'in' google voice so dunno)
[2] Last.fm Googling around a bit i see they (or someone) released a windows mobile app in 2008, but all links to it trow a 404, so check out their mobile forums, specifically this sticky
[3] Pandora, just read this; http://www.pandora.com/on-windowsmobile (Point your mobile phone's browser to www.pandora.com)
[4] Incomplete emails Thats just a setting since most people use gprs/hsdpa, im sure you can change it, either somewhere in the settings or trough a registry edit
Though i just have to say/write this, DONT GET ME WRONG but honestly, you shouldn't try to make this like your iPhone, although Microsoft/HTC are clearly trying to 'collect' some iPhone users, overall the HD2 isn't user friendly enough to be a iPhone (yes i sayd it) That doesn't mean you shouldn't stick with the HD2 though, just forget the iPhone
To put some strength behind my 'user friendly' statement, if your ROM is from before 1.66, the HD2 will have quite some silly bugs, like SMS messages that get stuck in the outbox but only (if your lucky) send 3 weeks later, problems with the camera, not beeing able to read/write large miniSD cards & more.
On the other hand, if your in any way IT related or just in general good with computers, this is currently the best phone on the market (counting HD2 and HD2b as one) it does the latest wireless connection methods, has build-in gps, compass and g-sensor, a 1ghz gpu, a 'gpu' (kinda) and more geeky features, and hey, it can emulate most psx games at full speed (www.fpsece.net)
I'd just strongly suggest you to get a new ROM from the HTC site, assuming you have a device with pre 1.66
I hope the above helped a bit, not trying to make windows mobile even more confusing for you, just trying to tell you that it cant really be compared to iPhone/Android, it can be compared to windows, there are actually millions of apps, nobody ever felt the need for a windows marketplace until iPhone got one and Microsoft had to compete, at which they currently fail hard i agree, the windows marketplace thing is a joke, just use google.

BoD World Tour Android App, possible port to WM?

My friend who has an Android phone (Moto Cliq on T-Mo USA) showed me this application she got called, World Tour. The developer is BoD, his website is here: http://www.jraf.org/android/ and the specific section for this application is here: http://jraf.org/code-latoureiffel/content.xml
What I'm wondering is if someone out there could port this application to Windows Mobile for my HD2.. I already e-mailed the developer and he said he is not planning on creating any applications for Windows Mobile, only Android :-(.
If not, then does anyone know of any similar application for Windows Mobile that will load live webcam's (from different links, I even know a few of my own I'd like to use if possible) as your wallpaper (background)? And this application will also change the image every X minutes (my friend had her's set to 15 mins)...
Hope someone can help, thanks in adv.!
85 Views and noonee is interested in this? Or willing to try porting it? I wish I knew enough about programming, etc to do it :-(...
